The specter of ghosts has perpetually haunted the edges of human consciousness. Across millennia of civilization, the concept of 'the spirit' and the myriad tales spun around it have flavored countless hours of conversation, spawning a dizzying array of folklore. Every religion, too, has carved out its own distinct interpretation of these unseen entities. It is from this rich tapestry that I chose to approach the subject, beginning with the lens of Chinese Daoism. This book uses the fundamental principles of Daoist Yin and Yang and the Five Elements as its bedrock, aiming to illuminate the Daoist perspective on spirits and the subtle art of Feng Shui. Woven throughout are enduring stories passed down through generations of common people. I integrate my own interpretations, employing the framework of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements to unravel the underlying causes of these phenomena. While the foundational concepts concerning the Five Elements and Feng Shui are cited strictly according to Daoist understanding, the narratives themselves are a mixture—some gathered through hearsay and rumor.
