In retrospect, the more Zheng Zha considered what Chu Xuan had said and the way the Ring could be utilized, the more he realized its incredible power. A key point was this: if his internal energy or vampire power were limitless, could he then convert it into mental energy and use that immense reservoir to control others? If so, the greater his power, the more people he could dominate—it would truly become the supreme artifact.
Thoughts aside, Zheng Zha spent the entire evening with Lori. Although, from Lori’s perspective, he had only been inside the Ring for a single day, he had endured weeks there, weathering bloody storms and brushing against death several times. The moment he saw her, a wave of deep tenderness washed over him. He gently held her and led her to the grass in the basement, where they sat quietly nestled together... A small black dog kept nudging their backs with its nose. Seeing they ignored it, it began to whine and gently nip at their clothes. The puppy was well-behaved, however, only mouthing the fabric, its movements cautious, as if afraid of accidentally biting their bodies.
Lori adored being held by Zheng Zha like that, especially seeing the scars and weariness he carried every time he returned to this "Main God" space. She felt a mixture of pity and heartache for him, wishing she could stay by his side every single moment.
Now seeing the little black dog disturbing their rare moment of peace, she waved her hand dismissively. "Shoo, go on, puppy, go play. Or tomorrow you won’t get your premium steak."
The puppy seemed to understand what Lori said. It let out two soft whimpers, then dejectedly trotted over to a patch of grass, exhaling tiny wisps of flame as it went.
Zheng Zha watched clearly and couldn't help but scrutinize the little dog again. This puppy was the descendant of the great dragon he had acquired in Jurassic Park, adopted by chance as a pet. Initially, he had intended to use it indirectly as a source of dragon blood to boost the team members' physical conditioning. Who would have thought this little dragon, worthy of its heritage, would grow so fast? In just a few dozen days, it had already swelled to a size larger than a normal puppy, and it was already spitting small flames. If it grew a little more, perhaps it could even replicate the might of its mother back then... (I wonder if I can accelerate its growth rate? If so, the power of this great dragon might be enough to intimidate ordinary Fourth Tier experts...) Zheng Zha mused internally.
But he knew his hopes were somewhat naive. For one thing, the dragon’s maturation period would take centuries, perhaps even longer. He doubted he would live to see that day, so he shelved the idea for now, focusing entirely on being with Lori.
The night passed quietly. By noon the next day, all team members had gathered in the square. Zheng Zha then stated that Qi Tengyi would intentionally not be resurrected in The Mummy world; since Qi Tengyi hadn't earned many reward points or B-grade subplots upon death, a double resurrection was more appropriate.
Only Xiao Honglu needed to be revived within The Mummy. Furthermore, Zheng Zha held high hopes for this young man; at least now the team finally had someone who could grudgingly decipher Chu Xuan’s intentions, meaning they wouldn't have to fear being completely blindsided by some of Chu Xuan's strategic moves again.
Since everyone was highly familiar with The Mummy, they hadn't prepared much, merely equipping themselves with their weapons and basic gear. After the necessary exchanges, they entered The Mummy world. The journey itself was unremarkable—the usual routine of finding the curator at the museum, then heading to the City of the Dead. The turning point of events began when they arrived at the City of the Dead.
"A letter? You have a letter for me?" Zheng Zha asked a base officer with a strange look. The officer respectfully handed him an envelope, explaining it had arrived recently from China, specifically addressed to him.
In the world of The Mummy, all their acquaintances had settled into their own lives. Rick O’Connell and Evelyn were mining extensively in America; several gold mines in the West were under their names, meaning they had finally become very wealthy. Of course, rumor had it that Evelyn had uncovered a massive ancient tomb in one of the mines... this woman seemed to be a magnet for danger... The leader of the men in black, the bearded man, was tirelessly working for the future of his people. Thanks to Zheng Zha's massive gold donations, his total gold holdings at one point surpassed those of some major nations, making him a highly favored celebrity among businessmen in America. Naturally, this was merely his public façade; his true allegiance remained with Al-Qaeda... Next were the other three old friends: Imhotep and Anck-su-namun. Their search for the Holy Grail was fruitless, and they began traveling or seeking ruins until the agreed time with Zheng Zha approached, at which point they headed back toward Egypt. However, for unknown reasons, they veered toward China, reportedly joining Jonathan to search for an elixir of immortality supposedly created thousands of years ago by a Chinese Emperor... Speaking of Jonathan, the fellow had indeed gone to China. While he wasn't extremely rich, Zheng Zha had never been stingy with gold toward him, and this man had always been exceptionally greedy for money. So, upon arriving in China, he quickly made a fortune by acquiring a large cache of AK firearms from the bearded man in black and selling them to the reigning warlords. It was rumored afterward that he got tangled up in some secret dealings between the warlords and unintentionally obtained a map to the elixir, leading him to be hunted relentlessly...
After learning everyone's recent updates from the officer, Zheng Zha guessed the contents of the letter. Sure enough, it was full of Jonathan raving about the marvels of the immortality elixir. He mentioned obtaining the map, but thankfully, he had some self-awareness. Fearing the map might be fake, he decided to explore it first with Imhotep and the others. If it proved false, he wouldn't bother Zheng Zha; but if it were real... then he wanted Zheng Zha’s help, proposing a three-seven split of the spoils—seven for him, three for Zheng Zha...
"Go die..." Zheng Zha couldn't be bothered. He only regretted that Imhotep had also gone to China. If he could confirm Imhotep was entering the "Main God" space, Zheng Zha could immediately exchange for a watch, return to The Mummy world, and the Central Continent Team would gain an immortal grand mage—their strength wouldn't just double, it would multiply exponentially.
There was nothing to be done; he couldn't bring Imhotep into their ranks right now, and the letter offered no clues as to their location or the map's authenticity. If this was a subplot, fine, but if it was false information, having ten people idling here would cost 500 reward points per day—a terrible expense. So, he had to focus on his immediate task: resurrecting the genius youth, Xiao Honglu.
"Deducting 8000 Reward Points, one B-grade Subplot..." The "Main God's" voice echoed in Zheng Zha's consciousness. Then, the scene before Zheng Zha snapped back to the dark, murderous night in the Resident Evil world. He saw Xiao Honglu and several Central Continent members, along with some plot characters, fleeing down a main road. Xiao Honglu had set up diversions using little tricks, perhaps hiding plot characters in ambush—he seemed to know the Demon Reincarnation Squad wouldn't kill the civilians. But the power gap was too vast; the runners couldn't outpace the Green Goblin Glider team, and the plot characters were easily knocked unconscious and captured due to the disparity in strength. The vision ended abruptly when Chu Xuan landed and shot Xiao Honglu directly between the eyes.
He found himself in a solitary, pitch-black room. Xiao Honglu, an experimental subject, could only passively endure the oppressive reality of his existence. Though young, his prematurely mature mind knew he couldn't continue like this. But what could he do? Isolation, loneliness, helplessness... that was his current portrait. If only someone’s heart could draw near, if only someone would listen to me, if only someone would talk to me, if only I weren't an experiment... if only someone could love me... It was only when the nurse appeared that their conversations gradually increased, and they slowly became familiar with each other. When Xiao Honglu’s brilliance was displayed before others, the nurse realized what an intelligent person he truly was. And just as Xiao Honglu began to smile, the sudden conflagration at the research institute...
"I don't want to be lonely, I don't want to be an experiment anymore, I don't want to be alone..." Zheng Zha sighed. He looked silently at Xiao Honglu perched above the sacrificial altar. The boy, who always fiddled with his hair, sat there inexplicably until his eyes darted around and spotted Chu Xuan. The boy’s face immediately changed, and he sat up straight, beginning to nervously twist the hair above his brow.
"So... I’m revived? This is The Mummy world? That means the ancient book in The Mummy that can resurrect people... its effects are actually real?" Xiao Honglu muttered, then looked at Chu Xuan. "I lost to you just now... No, not just now, a long time must have passed since Resident Evil. So, are you interested in playing a game with me? How about we make a wager in the next horror movie world?"
