The moment the word "breakfast" left the air, Fang Senyan's expression morphed into something truly spectacular! He sprang from the sofa with a speed surpassing even that of the vampire Edward, diving behind Das. Das, without missing a beat, produced his Mauser rifle, cocked the hammer, and took aim.
Hagrid shrugged, shaking his head, and gently set the tray he was holding onto a nearby low, round Dwarven table. He then retrieved a wooden ladle from behind him, scooped up a full ladle of clear water, and unceremoniously dumped it right onto the sofa. The water immediately permeated the leather cushions, soaking in with an immediate, thirsty absorption, much like a river sinking into the desert sand.
"There," Hagrid declared nonchalantly. "You can sit on it again now."
Fang Senyan was stunned into silence, utterly speechless:
"That ladle of water... was that its breakfast?"
Hagrid immediately beamed, his face alight with enthusiasm:
"It was! Even though this Hippocampus caused quite a few problems before, including tipping over a pleasure boat in Loch Ness, this little darling meant no harm! So, I secretly caught a hippopotamus to take the blame for the Ministry, and now it lives here with me. Although it's already entering hibernation, its hide is still quite warm, so I let it play the role of a cushion for a bit. Blast it, how did I let that slip again?"
Das smiled smoothly:
"You can rest assured, Mr. Hagrid. We were all completely absorbed in enjoying the oatmeal you offered; we didn't hear a thing."
With that, he swiftly picked up the tray Hagrid brought, distributed the porridge from the small wooden bowls to the others, took a hearty sip himself, and his face immediately transformed into an expression of utter delight. He quickly gulped down the rest of the porridge in just a few mouthfuls. The other two weren't fools; seeing his reaction, they immediately scrambled to divide the remaining two bowls between them, throwing the contents into their mouths. Despite their mouths being scalded and their faces contorted, sheer joy shone in their eyes.
"You have consumed Hagrid's cooked oatmeal for the first time."
"Your highest base attribute point has been permanently increased by +1."
"Your Health has recovered by 50%."
"Consuming this food again will no longer increase attribute points."
Clearly, this was the bonus reward bestowed by the Nightmare Space after slaying the Troll. The three exchanged glances; beyond the relief of surviving, there was undoubtedly a shared, inexpressible exhilaration.
Hagrid poured himself a bowl of porridge as well, then frowned while looking at the massive troll head by the door:
"Oddly enough, Trolls shouldn't be appearing around here this time of year... But regardless, you all did a fine thing, clearing a potential hazard for Hogwarts. Such deeds deserve commendation. Alright then, you have earned my trust!"
The moment Hagrid spoke those words, all three of them simultaneously received a notification:
"Hagrid's Favorability towards you has increased by 1000 points."
"Hagrid's current Favorability towards you is Neutral..." Fang Senyan, with his meager Charm score, immediately began to mourn inwardly, only to hear Das excitedly muttering to himself: "Wow, incredible, Favorability increased by an extra 1500 points...!" Fortunately, a string of subsequent messages quickly diverted his attention.
"Subsequent Main Quest: 'Acknowledgement' Complete."
"You have secured the qualification to remain at Hogwarts Academy after the school term begins."
"You have acquired the status of a Hogwarts Gamekeeper."
"Your Merit Score +2."
"The duration you can linger in this world has been reset; you may remain in this world for an additional seven days. Alternatively, you may choose to return to the Nightmare Space immediately. The return operation can be initiated once you board the 5972 express train to Hogwarts from Platform 9 and Three-Quarters. Naturally, you must be in a non-combat state at that time."
Hagrid stood up from the sturdy, low stool and clapped his hands together:
"Alright, lads. There's still some time before term starts. My advice is to wander around a bit. Once those little rascals show up for school, opportunities like this will be rare. You’ve likely realized by now, this is a world steeped in magic. You can go experience the beautiful scenery around Hogwarts, or head into Diagon Alley to see some new sights. Of course—remember to keep your Hogwarts badges on you, or Old Nick won't be accommodating!"
Naturally, Fang Senyan and the others hadn't been wearing their Hogwarts badges visibly on their chests; they were stored within the Nightmare Imprint's inventory space. Upon retrieving them now, they noticed a faint luminescence clinging to the metal—evidence of a special enchantment applied now that they had moved from temporary staff to official status. Furthermore, the badge surprisingly offered an attribute bonus of +3% Movement Speed while carried!
Hagrid then turned and handed over three envelopes, yawning distractedly:
"Lately, for some reason, I just can't shake the habit of eating breakfast and then going back to sleep..."
Just then, a strange, sharp shriek echoed from the inner room. Fang Senyan felt little, but Gree, being an avid gamer, instantly recognized the sound: it was precisely the noise made when a Zergling hatched in StarCraft—albeit amplified tenfold. He immediately understood that Hagrid’s peculiar pet-keeping habits were acting up again. Gree stood up to take his leave, and Fang Senyan and the others naturally followed him out.
The trio opened the envelopes they received and discovered they contained Pounds Sterling—currency usable only within this world, likely their pay issued by Hogwarts. Regrettably, Fang Senyan's pay was the lowest again... only 82 Pounds, while Das received the highest at 113.
"What are your plans now?" Gree suddenly asked once they were outside.
Fang Senyan shrugged. "I’m going to grab a quick nap first. This afternoon, I need to appease the Bowtruckles again. I've secured 23 so far; I should hit the milestone requirement by tomorrow. Completing the 'Benevolent Heart' milestone grants the useful title: Bowtruckle's Favor (Speed)."
Gree smiled. "That title is indeed useful. If the (Speed) attribute attached to that title can be carried over during future Title Synthesis, its value will skyrocket. Das, what about you?"
"Title Synthesis?"
Fang Senyan suddenly caught the extra information embedded in Gree's words. He sharply realized the significant disadvantage he faced compared to those who had joined established organizations. The sheer volume of information flow was vastly different. At this moment, Das reverted to his usual icy demeanor and stated coolly, "I naturally have my own matters to attend to."
Gree didn't take offense and stated earnestly, "I have already contacted the Metal Mentor. He heard about our recent upheaval and has set aside his affairs to rush over; he should be here soon. The Mentor expressed a strong desire to confer with you both. Beyond that, I have a personal request: because our Symbiotic Society lost the imbecile crowbar, who turned out to be a traitor, and only I survived out of five members, how can I possibly clear my name without corroborating evidence? Therefore, I must ask you both to stay and vouch for my innocence."
"Of course, I won't waste anyone's time. Someone in the Symbiotic Society has already completed the milestone: Helpful Soul and obtained the 'Omnipotent' title granting +3 to all attributes. Afterward, I can arrange to sell you the detailed walkthrough for that entire quest line at a reduced price."
Gree's arguments were reasonable and compelling, especially with tangible benefits attached. Thus, both Fang Senyan and Das agreed to stay. Das was unconcerned, knowing he had a clear conscience, while Fang Senyan relied on his strong composure and his belief that his actions had been flawless. Taking advantage of the lull, Fang Senyan managed to inquire about the attributes of the 'Fearless' title gained from slaying a Legendary creature. The information hit him like a blow to the chest! The Fearless title surprisingly granted an additional 5% increase to the wearer’s maximum Health! The utility of this for Fang Senyan was immense! Had he known earlier, he would have taken greater risks to achieve that final 10% damage bonus against the Troll. Thankfully, this title wasn't permanently missed and could still be achieved later.
The Metal Mentor didn't keep them waiting long; less than half an hour later, he emerged from the fireplace at Hogsmeade Station. The Mentor's physique was shrouded in a cloak studded with sharp, metallic scales, and he wore a mask modeled after the Heart suit in a deck of cards—a mask seemingly crafted from living flesh that remarkably conveyed subtle shifts in expression. He managed a strained smile towards Fang Senyan and Das before immediately frowning at Gree:
"What is this! How did things end up like this?"
Gree, despite being a broad, burly man, acted as meek as a kitten in the Metal Mentor's presence, recounting every detail of the events meticulously, without injecting any personal speculation.
After hearing Gree’s account, the Metal Mentor asked Fang Senyan and Das to recount their own observations. The few questions he posed focused precisely on critical points. Even the arrogant Das showed deference before the Mentor and answered truthfully. Fang Senyan, however, proved even more shameless, claiming he had been struck by the Troll's 'home run' attack and knocked into a deep coma, thus knowing absolutely nothing.
