To Fang Senyan, the current situation was quite dire, not only because he had encountered the meticulous and formidable foe known as "Zi," but also because she commanded a vast team backing her! Worse still, he had incurred a deep, wealth-destroying feud with her. For an ordinary Contractor, this moment would surely be shrouded in negative emotions like fear, regret, or sighs. But Fang Senyan merely shrugged. He was inherently someone who feared neither challenge nor difficulty; so what if the enemy was strong? That only served to sharpen his fighting spirit to an even higher fervor!
Before entering the Space, Fang Senyan had been an ordinary man, yet he could erupt in a life-or-death struggle against a ruthless gangster boss like Hua Shanfei! The gap between Fang Senyan and this mysterious organization was certainly no greater than the gap that once existed between him and Hua Shanfei! Since Fang Senyan had not shown the slightest fear during that most difficult period, there was no reason for him to cower and lament the fait accompli now.
During the tense waiting period of several dozen seconds, Fang Senyan meticulously observed the changes in the cursed pirates beside him. The more he watched, the more unnerved he became. During the day, these pirates moved like shuffling automatons, dragging their feet listlessly across the deck, while Davy Jones sat silently on a chair, resembling a petrified statue, utterly indifferent to his surroundings. It was clear that if the curse on him fully manifested, he might well end up exactly like them—his core personality erased, becoming an eternal pirate on this ship.
A greedy thought suddenly sparked in Fang Senyan’s mind: wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity to sneak into the captain’s quarters and plunder a fortune? However, this notion was immediately extinguished by reason—how could the Space leave such an obvious loophole for him? Even if he succeeded, he would likely lose vast amounts of Reputation, and the loot would probably be soul-bound equipment, perhaps even saddled with a crippling 'No-World' restriction that would bring tears to his eyes later.
The mere seventy seconds passed quickly. Fang Senyan was still suffering the torment of the curse, and his innate talent, Tenacity, had faded to an almost invisible glimmer. Just as Fang Senyan decided to return to the Nightmare Space, he spotted a rather ancient-looking diary nearby. A thought struck him, and he snatched it up. The diary was saturated with blood and brain matter; judging by where it lay, it must have fallen from Morgana Le Fay, the fourth-generation heir of the Le Fay family.
Up to this point, Fang Senyan had largely sorted out the complex relationships among all the pirates, but the other crucial faction in this world—the Le Fay family, owners of Tortuga Castle—remained a blank slate. This was partly because most of his focus had been consumed by schemes against Armand. Therefore, this diary should be able to unravel most of the mysteries lingering in his mind.
Fang Senyan hastily wiped the diary clean, then immersed his consciousness into the Nightmare Mark, issuing a command:
"Return to Nightmare Space."
"You still have exploration time remaining in this world. Do you confirm your return to the Nightmare Space? Yes/No?"
Fang Senyan dared not delay any longer. Who knew what would happen when his innate talent, Tenacity, completely faded? He immediately selected "Yes," and his body began to shimmer and fade, preparing for departure.
"Farewell, Caribbean world," Fang Senyan exhaled, feeling an indescribable weariness washing over him—the inevitable sensation when nerves, strained to their limit, are suddenly allowed to relax. He squinted, glancing around, and murmured to himself:
"I truly look forward... to my next return."
Dark clouds swept across the sky, eclipsing the Caribbean sun. When the sunlight once again pierced through the gap in the deck planks, the acting Third Mate of the Flying Dutchman, who had been standing there, evaporated into the air.
With the experience of his previous return as a foundation, Fang Senyan closed his eyes immediately, only reopening them after the strange sensation of weightlessness had completely vanished.
He was now back in an environment resembling the vacuum of space, the background infinitely dark, the only illumination coming from scattered, distant starlight. Every time he witnessed this scene, an undeniable sense of awe welled up within Fang Senyan. As his surroundings came into sharp focus, the distant starlight suddenly converged, forming a soft column of light that projected down upon him.
Instantly, an indescribable agony surged through Fang Senyan’s entire body, as if every muscle fiber was being violently stripped and torn apart! Fortunately, the pain was swift, dissipating after only five or six seconds. Even so, Fang Senyan broke out in a cold sweat, gasping heavily.
His body remained enveloped in the soft starlight, but the light seemed to form a barrier. Outside this barrier swirled dozens of indescribable plumes of dark energy, occasionally twisting and screaming into grotesque, distorted faces! Clearly, the curse Davy Jones had transferred to him was being forcefully extracted by the Space.
The dark energy rapidly faded within the Space, dissolving into nothingness. Only then did the starlight slowly recede. Next, a full 3D miniature projection began to form before Fang Senyan. The first scene played was his engagement in battle with the Spanish Armada, followed by the moment Lady Sally Le Fay was killed, and the complete destruction of the Wicked Wench and the Queen Anne's Revenge. Finally, there was Blackbeard laughing maniacally, wielding the demonic sword, his arrogance boundless, before the image froze.
The following information materialized in the air: "Scene: Pirates of the Caribbean World" "Difficulty: Easy (D-Rank)" "Pain Attenuation: 50%" "Personal Ability Extra Enhancement: 0%" "New Titles Gained from Current Scene Exploration: Drunkard, Pirate Captain" "Theoretical Mission Discovery Rate: 32%" "Mission Completion Evaluation: B+, Note: Lowest grade is E, Highest is Perfect." "Mission Completion Evaluation Reward: 3 Free Attribute Points (20% World Weighting already factored in)." "Mission Theoretical Discovery Rate/Mission Completion Evaluation Reward: 700 Universal Points (20% World Weighting already factored in). Did not meet the threshold for Potential Point reward." "Currently Remaining Free Attribute Points for the Character: 3 points." "You may allocate these free points to your fundamental attribute scores (Strength/Agility, etc.) at any time to enhance your body." "Hint: You survived the ancient curse inherited from the Caribbean, thus you have gained a simultaneous 1% increase in Critical Hit Rate/Evasion Rate/Hit Rate."
"Huh?" Fang Senyan looked at this series of data and felt a surge of surprise. Having abandoned fighting as a team, he hadn't expected overly generous rewards in the post-mission summary. In fact, a mere 32% Theoretical Mission Discovery Rate, with its meager 700 Universal Points reward, clearly indicated the Space's dissatisfaction.
For Fang Senyan, based on the clues and opportunities he had uncovered within the Space, if he had joined forces with Kerry’s initial team, he obviously could have interacted deeply with the protagonist, Jack Sparrow, further digging into the plot, thereby discovering and obtaining numerous side missions to complete as a team. Unfortunately, he had focused his exploration efforts primarily on the Wicked Wench and the Queen Anne's Revenge. For Fang Senyan personally, this was the limit, but as a team, it was far from the best they could have achieved. Therefore, the Space awarding only 32% Theoretical Mission Discovery Rate was not unjust.
If he were to cooperate with "Zi's" team later, her team would undoubtedly achieve a Perfect completion! They might even uncover more missions. The Space did not account for the difficulty of Fang Senyan collaborating with other Contractors; its default judgment standard assumed all Contractors should work together wholeheartedly, achieving the maximum possible level of exploration for the entire world through ultimate cooperation.
However, it was noteworthy that the Nightmare Space gave Fang Senyan a Mission Completion Evaluation of B+! And with it, a substantial reward of 3 Free Attribute Points! To draw a simple analogy, it was like a student completing only one-third of the homework assigned by the teacher, but the quality of that one-third was quite satisfactory to the instructor.
Fang Senyan immediately grasped the crucial point: he had repeatedly participated in and altered the main story arcs within the world:
Killing the plot character Lady Sally Le Fay directly led to the breakdown of relations between the Caribbean pirates and the neutral Port Royal.
Destroying the Wicked Wench and the Queen Anne's Revenge altered the fate of one of the Seven Pirate Lords, Armand—even if Armand still became a Pirate Lord, his rise would be delayed by many years.
Although the mission concerning Davy Jones’s curse was one Fang Senyan was passively drawn into, he had subtly altered his destiny; at the very least, Davy Jones had indirectly killed a blood relative of the Le Fay family, meaning he retained half of a human body.
Blackbeard had relentlessly searched for that demonic sword; Fang Senyan's interference at least saved him ten years of searching!
Fang Senyan took a deep breath, a flicker of joy in his eyes, and nodded slightly. If this was the case, his focus for the next world entry should be on this aspect. Undeniably, adhering closely to the movie plots of relevant worlds would significantly decrease the difficulty. But this clearly did not align with the Space's expectations, leading to extremely low Mission Completion Evaluations. Since he had achieved success in this area, he now had a clear direction to deliberately strive for in the future.
Simultaneously, the Nightmare Mark transmitted further notifications:
"Insight Ability Settlement in progress... You used the Insight Ability 14 times in this world! You will pay 1400 Universal Points for this."
"Your current Universal Points are 3200. After deduction, your remaining Universal Points are 1800."
"You have acquired the important mission item: Morgan Le Fay's Diary. In the next world you enter, it will automatically return to your Mark Storage Space."
