At this moment, Fang Senyan was akin to an entire team unto himself, while the other Reincarnators were all organized into multi-person squads. Thus, even though Fang Senyan’s personal battlefield contribution ranked first, it was inevitably surpassed by the collective total of the other teams. Furthermore, this historical scenario battlefield, The Downfall of the Invincible Armada (Prologue), was not exclusively opened for Fang Senyan and his contracted group; high-tier Contracted ones would also be joining.

It was just that these high-tier Reincarnators would face high-level plot characters, such as Jack, Blackbeard, and the like. Although they shared the same battlefield as low-tier Contracted ones like Fang Senyan, the Nightmare Space would generally ensure they did not interact. Once the historical scenario was concluded, these high-tier Reincarnators would be teleported out of this world and would not linger here any longer.

Yet, even these high-tier Reincarnators could not have anticipated the appearance of a monster like Fang Senyan—one whose individual combat strength was not overwhelmingly powerful, but who possessed extraordinary skill in the command and organization of ships, and who was exceptionally adept at seizing opportunities to surge forward. When the Spanish Armada’s sailors boarded the ship, Fang Senyan successfully rallied and organized the remaining pirates, effectively making all the pirates left aboard the Bell and Cup his subordinates at that moment! Naturally, the contribution points generated by this feat were unmatched by anyone else.

At this juncture, the prompts from the Nightmare Mark had reached their final stage, transitioning into the rewards phase:

Your personal battlefield contribution ranking is: First. You have obtained the reward: Type-I Metal Dissolution Modulator. Type-I Metal Dissolution Modulator. Item Rarity: Black Grade Item Usage Effect: Apply it to the equipment/weapon you intend to enhance; it grants a 100% chance to directly upgrade it to LV4, a 50% chance to directly upgrade it to LV5, and a 10% chance to directly upgrade it to LV7. Item Usage Requirement: This item can only take effect on equipment/items of Silver Plot rarity. Item Characteristic: This item is soul-bound to you and cannot be traded to other Contracted ones. Using this item will also result in the target equipment/weapon becoming soul-bound. Description: This is a rare substance extracted from the core of a comet, capable of greatly increasing the material’s ductility and toughness. It is a considerably precious item even within the entirety of the Nightmare Space.

Your total battlefield contribution ranking is: Sixth. You have obtained 500 Universal Points.

Observing this series of prompts, the 500 Universal Points reward was a timely relief for Fang Senyan, finally alleviating the heavy deficit incurred from frequently using his "Insight" ability. However, the Black Grade item, the Type-I Metal Dissolution Modulator, was truly beyond his expectations. It was certain that this item was invaluable, but due to the soul-binding, it could not be traded first, and second, it could only be applied to equipment/weapons of at least Silver Plot rarity!

Currently, Fang Senyan was not without means to acquire Silver Plot rarity equipment or even higher-tier gear. A simple example: killing Armand, one of the future Seven Great Pirate Kings who was currently before him, would likely yield Black Grade or even stronger weaponry and gear over ninety percent of the time. But having the pathway available was one thing; possessing the capability to pursue it was quite another—much like how everyone knows making it into the top ten of Super Girl or Fast Man is a path to fame, yet only a select few emerge successfully each year.

Fang Senyan was acutely self-aware. His current limit was successfully completing missions at the Shallow Blue tier. Even so, he had to plan meticulously beforehand, fully utilizing the three major factors: timing, location, and human element. Achieving a first-place ranking in personal battlefield contribution, for instance, was entirely a rare, unreplicable event. If Fang Senyan conducted his affairs according to the standard of fighting for first place, he would likely have been reduced to dust long ago! Therefore, he could only sigh and shake his head, placing this reward into his personal storage space.

By this time, the cannon fire signaling the end of the battle on the sea had ceased. The British warships would certainly not linger to share the spoils—the credit for sinking the Spanish vessels would be wholly attributed to them; the Queen’s reward would be their greatest gain. The pirates, too, had paid a heavy price: of the thirteen pirate ships that participated, nearly every one sustained damage, three were heavily wounded, and a full four were sunk! After signaling, all the pirate ships sailed west, heading toward a small island with a favorable location. The island was known as Hope Island; it possessed fresh water. Because it lacked a suitable, sheltered harbor, it could not host a long-term garrison, but it was perfectly adequate for a brief respite.

Upon disembarking, Fang Senyan first fulfilled his duties as the Boatswain. He summarily rejected all arrangements made by the blind Matt, whom Armand had sent to undermine him, regardless of whether they were right or wrong. Then, ignoring Matt’s ashen face, he assigned the crew according to his own methods. His prestige was already higher than that of the parachuted-in blind Matt, and his methods of utilizing people were more scientific and efficient. Naturally, the pirates under him were inclined to listen to him. After finally getting a moment to rest, he saw Kerry approach with a long, sorrowful face, looking exactly like a loser cleaned out and thrown out of a casino. He slumped into the seat opposite Fang Senyan and began to mumble his troubles.

It turned out that Kerry, after boarding the ship, had also been swept up into the historical scenario battlefield of this zone. To Fang Senyan’s surprise, Kerry, who seemed to have been hiding in the lower decks, had actually managed to gain some benefits! No one knew what kind of deeds Kerry had performed during the zone mission, but he too had received considerable rewards, including two Ancient Gold Sovereigns that Fang Senyan had acquired previously. Such valuables could not only be exchanged for Universal Points but were also crucial items favored by many plot characters; if acquired by someone with high charisma, they yielded twice the result with half the effort.

However, the whole problem stemmed from Kerry’s habit of grasping at petty advantages. After obtaining the two Ancient Gold Sovereigns, he didn't fully grasp their value and showed them to a nearby sailor to inquire. He failed to consider that these sailors were pirates—predators hungry as wolves. If Fang Senyan’s methods hadn't been sharp and ruthless enough to intimidate them, they would have long since devoured the harmless-looking Kerry whole, leaving nothing but bones.

When these pirates saw the valuable items in Kerry’s hand, word spread, and many became greedy. They set up a gambling den to lure him in. Kerry, as expected, underestimated the cunning of the plot characters and was thoroughly cheated. As a result, these rogues managed to swindle and rob him until both Ancient Gold Sovereigns were gone! Not only that, but he also accrued considerable debt. The pirates laughed as they drove him out, though they fortunately showed some deference to Fang Senyan’s presence, stopping short of robbing Kerry completely and tossing him into the sea.

Although Kerry kept emphatically stressing to the pirates that he was the new Boatswain’s cousin and that they shared a life-or-death bond, he knew perfectly well that his relationship with Fang Senyan was merely a very pragmatic transaction. Moreover, strictly speaking, Kerry had already used up his obligation to ‘introduce Fang Senyan into their organization’ to enjoy the privilege of staying aboard the pirate ship at this time. Therefore, Kerry’s complaining to Fang Senyan now was merely an instinctive venting; he didn't even expect Fang Senyan to offer any comfort.

Who knew that after hearing Kerry’s tale, a flash of light sparked in Fang Senyan’s eyes, but his expression quickly darkened. The look on his face even gave Kerry an indescribable, faint feeling of dread.

“Take me there,” Fang Senyan suddenly stood up and said lightly. His face was somewhat obscured by shadow, which only added a layer of mystery and unpredictability. Kerry momentarily felt suffocated and stammered:

“Go… Go where?”

Fang Senyan turned, fixing Kerry with an intense, penetrating gaze. Kerry involuntarily took half a step back.

“You’ve told me all this rambling story—isn’t it all just so I’ll step in?”

A wave of indescribable ecstasy then surged through Kerry’s heart, and he hurriedly urged:

“They are over there…”

The cabin doors of the Bell and Cup were made from Swedish cedarwood, prized not only for its durability but also for its resistance to insects, rot, and damage. Since the doors on a pirate ship served another enormous function besides security—to block enemy advances during melee combat—their sturdiness was often several times that of structures on land.

But with a deafening BANG, the door to the carpentry workshop on the west side was kicked clean through. More than half of the fitted door panel cracked along the grain and flew spinning two or three meters away, smashing with a clatter onto a fixed table, obliterating the rum and roasted capon placed there, splattering liquor and grease everywhere! The triumphant laughter of the pirates instantly cut off.

The torchlight in the distant passage flickered, casting two elongated shadows projected from the doorway. One figure appeared constrained and somewhat flustered, but the other was severe, forceful, and brimming with an unyielding ruthlessness. Fang Senyan stepped into the chamber. As he surveyed the scene, although he had only just taken the position of Boatswain, his hands were stained with at least seven or eight lives, including those of the Spanish soldiers. His severity had already left a deep impression on all the pirates, and the pressure he exuded upon these few pirates was naturally immense.
