The first thing that registered in Fang Senyan’s vision was the corpse of an LAPD officer. The dead man’s expression was one of utter horror, his pale, tightly clenched fingers pressed against his abdomen, while blood welled and gurgled from a small slit in his throat. Five other bodies lay scattered haphazardly across the living room, having met a similar fate, the air thick with the pungent, swirling scent of death and gore.

In the corner of the living room, a dying LAPD officer was convulsively clutching the crimson wound on his neck, making a rattling sound deep in his throat—the unmistakable noise of a severed trachea. His eyes were rolled back, his head tilted up, and his hair was clutched in a hand encased in a white glove. The bearded man, whom Fang Senyan had encountered twice before, looked up with a slight expression of astonishment.

Their gazes locked, the crossing lines of sight seemingly sparking a shower of invisible sparks in the air; neither moved first.

It was an awkward standoff, much like their first encounter when entering this world.

Fang Senyan cocked his head, his gaze sweeping rapidly over the corpses on the floor again, before stating calmly:

“It seems you’re trying to achieve the ‘Friend of Sin’ milestone?”

The initial requirement for achieving ‘Friend of Sin’ was to kill 50 police officers in this world. Since the bearded man specifically targeted the LAPD, Fang Senyan immediately saw through his objective. The bearded man slowly lowered the officer he was holding and replied flatly:

“Indeed.”

Fang Senyan sensed the man’s cold detachment and disdain, a hidden, chilling smile playing on his lips. Logically, as someone skilled in close combat, he should be closing the distance. Instead, Fang Senyan adopted an expression of grave seriousness, stepping back significantly. He pulled up his jacket and rested his hand on the .500 Magnum revolver holstered at his waist, as if ready to dive for cover and open fire the next second.

Clearly, Fang Senyan had masterfully disguised himself as a marksman, specifically one who relied on high-powered, slow-firing weaponry, intending to lure the opponent into a close-quarters assault. What awaited the man then would naturally be a very visceral and violent scene…

The bearded man was clearly experienced; he recognized the large-caliber weapon at Fang Senyan’s hip, known as a "hand cannon," and his expression shifted:

“What do you want?”

Fang Senyan ignored the question and responded:

“You have significant nerve. Killing police officers drastically increases your Sin Value, eventually leading to pursuit by the Delta Force. Aren't you afraid at all?”

The bearded man studied Fang Senyan intently:

“Do you know the attributes of the title awarded upon completing ‘Friend of Sin’?”

Upon hearing this, Fang Senyan replied without revealing his true thoughts:

“I possess some detailed information regarding the T-750 Terminator.”

The two stood opposite each other. Though no blows were exchanged, their every word felt like a thrust and parry in a hidden battle. The bait Fang Senyan had cast was clearly tempting the bearded man, who probed tentatively:

“Then let’s confirm the exchange via the Nightmare Imprint? I’ll trade the specific attributes of the ‘Friend of Sin’ title, plus a method to kill officers without being officially wanted, for your data?”

Fang Senyan had indeed seen information about this verification method during his own research. The Nightmare Imprint could act as a "notary" during transactions, ensuring both parties were free from fraud and could trade safely. The drawback, of course, was having to pay a fee in general points for the intermediary service. Fang Senyan extracted a portion of the T-750 data, spent 50 general points to transmit it through the Nightmare Imprint, and soon received the relevant intelligence:

Title: Friend of Sin. Equipment Unique Equipment Effect: If the enemy you attack has no Sin Value, the damage dealt increases by 1%, and the drop rate for items/equipment increases by 1%. Next Stage Upgrade Condition: You must have accumulated the killing of 150 police officers in the Terminator world (Your cumulative direct damage to each officer must exceed 50% of the total damage dealt to them). Method to Evade Wanted Status After Killing Police: When you kill an officer, the Sin Value increases at an alarming rate. However, if there are no witnesses to the kill, or if you eliminate the witnesses along with the officer, the crime becomes an unsolved case, and your Sin Value will rapidly decrease after about ten minutes. A small base level of Sin Value will, however, remain.

Evidently, the greatest allure of the ‘Friend of Sin’ title was the boost to drop rates. The method for killing police officers provided by the bearded man seemed quite feasible. But… in the current situation, wasn't Fang Senyan also a potential witness to the bearded man’s crimes? If the man lunged forward to silence him, he wouldn't know that Fang Senyan was already waiting, like a hungry wolf lying in ambush in the snow, baring his sharp teeth!

At that precise, tense moment, a piercing police siren suddenly wailed from outside; more LAPD reinforcements were likely arriving. If a fight broke out now, the noise of battle and gunfire would certainly attract a large contingent of police, especially with several LAPD corpses already littering the room! This was something neither man desired, so both lost the will to fight. They simultaneously backed away cautiously, and once they reached a safe distance, they turned and departed.

Leaving the building, the siren turned out to be from a passing patrol car—a close call. Fang Senyan checked his bearings and headed in the direction where he had heard gunfire earlier. Rounding a building, a large, black police vehicle—the former transport of the Delta Force—suddenly came into view. The driver’s side door was open, the interior appearing empty, save for a few scattered specks of blood.

Seeing the vehicle, an idea sparked in Fang Senyan’s mind. Seeing no one around, he slid into the driver's seat and instinctively flipped open the nearby radio handset. It was 1984, and communication technology was far from the advanced state of the 21st century; primary contact relied on walkie-talkies. After a burst of chaotic static interference, a slightly hurried voice from the dispatcher crackled through:

“Suspect has entered the structure at Seventh Street, Third Avenue, requesting backup. Repeat, requesting backup. Five more injured personnel have been brought down; paramedics needed on site.”

“Seventh Street, Third Avenue…” Fang Senyan nodded slightly, a faint smile touching his lips. But at that very moment, he felt a faint warmth on his back, and a weak voice emerged from the cabin:

“Raise… your hands, clasp them behind your head, lean against the wall… and crouch.”

There was someone inside the vehicle!

Fang Senyan slowly raised his hands as instructed, but his eyes darted to the rearview mirror above the roof. His heart clenched instantly. The person holding him at gunpoint was clad in black camouflage fatigues, wearing a dark hood resembling a gas mask, and even his hands were covered in black gloves—clearly a member of Delta Force.

However, he appeared exceptionally weak, leaning precariously against the vehicle wall, his left hand covering gauze stained red around his neck. The weapon held in his right hand was merely a standard-issue police pistol. Around him lay a scattering of clothing. Fang Senyan had glanced into the cabin before entering but had only noticed a jumble of clothes piled together, failing to spot a person.

Recalling the scene, it probably wasn’t deliberate camouflage by the operative, but rather that he was suffering from significant blood loss and hypothermia, causing him to gather the surrounding clothes for warmth, thus concealing himself from Fang Senyan’s initial glance.

“Sigh,” Fang Senyan let out a soft sigh, his tone laced with a detached pity:

“You truly shouldn’t have shown up here.”

He slowly turned around, his gaze now filled with murderous intent toward the wounded Delta Force operative! This heavily injured special forces member, seasoned by countless battles, immediately fired without hesitation! Scorching bullets sparked against Fang Senyan’s forehead, throat, and heart, splashing crimson. But Fang Senyan was already lunging forward like a beast. As the spent casings fluttered mid-air, Fang Senyan raised his clenched left fist, which shimmered with a metallic sheen—that powerful future weapon had materialized!

Fang Senyan’s punch slammed into the special forces member’s throat!

The operative’s eyeballs bulged out to an unnatural degree, making him look exactly like a dead fish. His body convulsed violently but fell limp immediately, stripped of life. Fang Senyan even caught a whiff of the foul odor of involuntary release, and the man’s neck was now crushed into what looked like a bloody, mangled pancake!

Only then did the bullets embedded in Fang Senyan’s flesh and muscle fall out, bouncing lightly with a soft tap-tap on the vehicle floor.

The standard police firearm held by the special forces member could inflict no substantive damage on Fang Senyan. But the heavily wounded man could not withstand a full-force punch from him! If the operative had been wielding the incredibly potent weapon they usually carried, Fang Senyan would have been forced to surrender obediently. The reason Fang Senyan dared to strike so decisively was based on what he had witnessed earlier regarding the Delta Force personnel being wounded: a sweep fire from a hundred meters away had caused the operatives inside the vehicle to bleed. This indicated that the Delta Force, despite their high attack power, were equally fragile; they could instantly kill an enemy, but they too could be instantly killed…
