Zheng Zha sprinted forward for another ten minutes, calculating that if he turned back now, he would arrive at the coastline precisely when the Green Goblin glider’s cooldown finished. He therefore stopped advancing, preparing to double back along his path, but just then, he spotted a streak of blood-red bone residue at the edge of the jungle. The mark was so stark, so alarmingly fresh, that Zheng Zha rushed toward the remains immediately.
The bone was clearly from some gigantic creature, shaped like a fan—perhaps a shoulder blade. Though the blood on it had dried, deep crimson stains still mottled the surface; clearly, the owner had not been dead for long. Yet, this was not what held Zheng Zha’s attention. His focus was entirely captured by a row of massive holes bored clean through the fan-shaped bone. Judging by the size of these perforations, they were far thicker than Zheng Zha’s own arm.
What manner of behemoth could possess teeth large enough to make such marks? Zheng Zha drew a sharp breath; based on the size of these holes—which, judging by the shape, likely only represented the tips of the teeth—
In fact, if he inferred the size of the creature based on these openings, it would have to be several times larger than a Tyrannosaurus Rex. That was terrifying. Had such a colossal carnivore ever existed on Earth? At that moment, a violent commotion erupted from beyond the jungle line. Zheng Zha instantly engaged his lightness skill, leaping onto the canopy of a tree over ten meters high. From this vantage point, he saw a colossal Tyrannosaurus Rex roaring as it charged toward his location. The T-Rex didn't seem to be pursuing anything, merely bellowing as it rushed forward. Just as Zheng Zha prepared to pivot and flee, he froze mid-motion, his eyes wide, staring stupidly at the spectacle unfolding.
A Dragon! A genuine Western Dragon! It possessed horns, scales, wings, and a body like a massive lizard resting on its haunches. This titanic beast, roughly thirty meters long, was crawling rapidly toward the T-Rex. Due to its immense bulk, the Dragon quickly closed the distance. Before the T-Rex could turn to bite, the Dragon lunged, clamping its jaws down hard onto the crown of the T-Rex’s head, effectively shearing the dinosaur’s skull almost entirely away.
Zheng Zha finally understood the origin of the holes in the fan-shaped bone; it seemed this Dragon’s bite was the cause.
“Jurassic Park II: The Lost World Side Mission. Slay the mutated dinosaur. The slayer will receive one B-Grade Side Mission point, 5000 Reward Points. Assisting team members will receive one C-Grade Side Mission point, 4000 Reward Points. This entity is a legendary magical creature; high-tech ranged weapons are nullified. If the creature is not killed within twenty-four hours, all participating team members will be erased.”
Zheng Zha swallowed hard as he watched the Dragon violently rear back, ripping the entire upper torso of the T-Rex apart. The sheer power was terrifying, and the Dragon’s scale was utterly shocking—a massive entity stretching over thirty meters long. The pressure it exerted was overwhelming; even from a distance, Zheng Zha’s body began to tremble, not from fear, but from his instincts screaming primal danger.
Without a second thought, Zheng Zha spun around and sprinted back toward the coast. Fortunately, the Dragon was currently focused entirely on devouring the T-Rex’s carcass and paid no heed to a tiny human gradually receding into the forest. Only after Zheng Zha had put a thousand meters between himself and the scene did he hear the Dragon’s roar echo from behind. This was not a roar prompted by seeing him, but rather an unconscious bellow of satiation. The sound was deafening, like rolling thunder, causing his eardrums to ache even at that distance. But he could afford no delay; he poured all his effort into his lightness skill, flying back along his original route.
When Zheng Zha burst from the jungle, he sighed in relief upon seeing Chu Xuan, Wang Xia, and Ba Wang standing safe and sound on the distant coastline. He hurried toward them. The beach clearly showed evidence of landmines laid out, though, since the mines were meant for dinosaurs, they hadn't been camouflaged, allowing Zheng Zha to easily run from the perimeter to join his companions.
Ba Wang and Wang Xia immediately asked in unison, "What was that sound just now?" They glanced at each other, and Ba Wang spoke again, "Damn, was that really Godzilla? Did the genetic mutation create something like Godzilla?" Zheng Zha could only offer a wry smile, sighing, “...That was something far more terrifying than Godzilla. I saw a Dragon there—a real Dragon.”
The other three looked at him with strangely knowing expressions. Chu Xuan nodded. "That’s correct. All the creatures here are indeed Dragons. Compared to them, their size is truly monstrous to us.”
Zheng Zha scratched his head, gesturing with his hands. “Not a dinosaur, but the true, legendary Dragon. Ah, I think the mythical Dragon truly exists on this island. When I saw it, I heard the ‘Main God’ announce the side mission: kill the mutated dinosaur. The killer gets one B-Grade Side Mission point and 5000 Reward Points; assistants get one C-Grade Side Mission point and 4000 Reward Points. It sounds excellent, but the ‘Main God’ said it's a legendary magical entity, immune to high-tech ranged weapons. In other words, we can only attack it in melee. But you haven't seen how enormous that Dragon is—dozens of meters tall—it snapped the T-Rex in half with one bite! Damn it, and we aren't even allowed to use ranged weapons...” Chu Xuan watched him silently until he finished speaking, then fell into deep thought. He proceeded to ask detailed questions about the side mission parameters: time limits, location specifics, and any other restrictions. When he learned they had only twenty-four hours to kill the Dragon, the man sank back into contemplation.
“...Your Spear of Judgment doesn't count as a high-tech ranged weapon, and while the Gravity High-Power Mines are high-tech, they fall under the category of close-range explosive weapons. This means we still have a strong chance. Furthermore, I don’t know if attacks like missiles are effective against it. They cause damage through close-range explosion, yet are launched from a distance, so we must test it...” Chu Xuan murmured.
Several minutes later, Chu Xuan finally spoke. “Alright, here’s the plan. We go look at the Dragon first. Then, I’ll use the small air-to-ground missiles built into the Green Goblin glider for an attack. If the missiles inflict damage, we can easily slay this Dragon. If they have no effect, then it falls entirely to you and the Spear of Judgment, Zheng Zha. We must act quickly before that carrier battle group sails too far. If the missiles work, we lure the Dragon out to the fleet and annihilate it with the combined firepower of the warships. If the missiles fail... everything rests on you, Zheng Zha.”
Zheng Zha considered this. “I should go alone. You haven't seen the Dragon yet, so the side mission hasn't activated for you. Rather than all of us going and failing the mission together, it’s better if I face the Dragon alone. I can control the Green Goblin glider and use the Spear of Judgment. If it doesn't work out, only I will die, and the rest of you can return safely... you can revive me later, right? I haven't even used the Scripture of Resurrection yet.”
Saying this, Zheng Zha pulled out the Scripture of Resurrection and the Necronomicon from his Storage Ring and offered both books to the group.
The others exchanged strange looks but none reached for the ancient texts. Ba Wang roared first, “Damn it, who do you think you are? Superman? What are the rest of us? I’m a member of the Central Team fighting alongside you! How can we just watch you throw your life away while we scurry back to the ‘Main God’ space like mangy dogs? Damn it, Ba Wang has never been this cowardly!” Wang Xia added in a low voice, “He’s right, Ba Wang is correct. Besides, my bombs aren't considered long-range high-tech weapons, so I can definitely help you. Let me go with you!” Zheng Zha remained silent, his hand still extended offering the ancient books toward Chu Xuan. However, the man seemed not to see them, pushing up his glasses. “...While what you say seems logically sound, I can't be certain that when we use the altar in The Mummy to revive you, it allows the three of us to pool Reward Points for your resurrection. Otherwise, the three of us may not have enough points and side mission credits to bring you back. In other words, we might lose access to our Captain for one or several movie cycles. Without knowing what the next horror film will be, do you think we’ll have such a good opportunity to revive you? We can’t consider that scenario. Rather than losing the Central Team’s greatest combat power and Captain...” “...let’s fight this desperate battle, the four of us!” Chu Xuan leaped forward.
