With a forceful stomp of his foot, Zheng Zha shot forward like a gust of wind, closing the distance to the pair within seconds. The moment he landed, setting down Chu Xuan, he stepped onto the hoverboard. But as soon as his weight settled, his entire body seized with violent tremors. The other three finally saw it: his thigh and left shoulder were horribly swollen and black, appearing completely necrotic.

Bawang and Wang Xia simultaneously drew their military-issue combat knives. They exchanged a glance; Bawang subtly took a half-step back while Wang Xia yanked Zheng Zha forward and slashed the blackened area of his shoulder twice with deep X-shaped cuts. Black blood immediately welled up and streamed out, accompanied by a bitter almond scent. Wang Xia and Bawang’s expressions instantly changed. Just as Wang Xia leaned down toward the cross-shaped wound, Zheng Zha used his free hand to pull out several syringes of antidote. "It's fine. Just opening the wound was enough. I brought the antidote... the strong stuff. It just means I can't control the Goblin Glider anymore."

Chu Xuan silently stepped onto the hoverboard, his eyes vacant. "I have unlocked the first stage of the Genetic Lock... let me pilot the board."

After Wang Xia had successfully cut open the swollen, black patches on Zheng Zha’s left shoulder and thigh, he administered two more injections in quick succession. Then, the three of them stepped onto the loops of the rope harness. Next, they watched as Chu Xuan mounted the Goblin Glider, rising into the air, and sliced directly through the swarm of countless massive, bee-like insects billowing smoke in the distance. His piloting skill was comparable to Zheng Zha when he was expertly using the Goblin Glider. The board flew straight ahead without wavering, reaching its maximum velocity within seconds.

"It's no good... Compared to them, our speed seems to be lagging by a hair," Chu Xuan muttered to himself while maneuvering the board.

The three below instantly turned their heads. They saw it: a dense, massive sheet of giant bees surging after them. What a terrifying sight that was! If the sun had been behind them, that swarm could have blotted out the light entirely. Forget the four of them, even a dinosaur falling into that mass of giant insects would have met a fate with no burial ground.

Bawang let out a low roar, spinning around and leveling the Tubular Pulse Accelerator Gun toward the pursuing tide.

This was a pulse-accelerated weapon firing needle-shaped projectiles. Its principle was quite similar to Gauss weaponry. However, by substituting the accelerating energy with a pulse wave, the recoil was reduced, while the projectile's destructive power was even greater than that of a Gauss gun.

The moment Bawang pulled the trigger, a deafening roar erupted—far louder than the sound of standard gunfire. The massive crack of the bullets breaking the sound barrier, multiplied by countless projectiles tearing through the air simultaneously, filled the space. From the group’s perspective, the air directly in front of the muzzle of the Tubular Pulse Accelerator Gun visibly warped, undulating as if viewing distant objects through the heat haze rising from a furnace.

In the distance, countless bees were instantly scythed down by the barrage. The power of these projectiles was indeed immense; the corpses of the giant insects rained down like thick hail. Even so, these slain creatures represented only a tiny fraction of the entire swarm. The leading edge of the bee horde continued its relentless approach.

When the nearest cluster of giant insects was only a few hundred meters away, Wang Xia suddenly pulled out a timed detonator. He pressed the casing a few times before hurling it forcefully toward the approaching swarm.

The Goblin Glider traveled a little further before a violent explosion roared from behind them. Not only that, but the hurricane-force winds generated by the blast reached the four of them, causing the Goblin Glider to momentarily lose stability. Fortunately, Chu Xuan reacted quickly, regaining balance with a sharp push and placement of his foot.

"That power?" Zheng Zha gasped, asking with a look of sheer bewilderment, "That's terrifyingly powerful! It must equal the yield of at least three high-explosive fragmentation bombs to cause that effect."

From their vantage point, a miniature mushroom cloud still churned in the mid-air where the blast occurred. All the giant bees in that immediate vicinity were either vaporized or incinerated, and many surrounding the blast radius were obliterated by the shockwave. In short, that single detonation had wiped out nearly every giant bee directly pursuing the Goblin Glider. The remaining, more massive swarm was slightly further behind and couldn't catch up in the short term.

Wang Xia chuckled dryly. "That’s right. It’s the explosive equivalent of three timed super-high-yield demolition charges. With minor modifications, this bomb could be used safely, but it requires being thrown from a great distance, or used while moving at high speed, like just now. Otherwise, the resulting backlash wave alone would kill us."

Zheng Zha let out a breath, laughing heartily as he slapped Wang Xia’s shoulder. His arm and thigh had largely returned to normal; the antidote was extremely effective. More crucially, his innate recovery rate and immunity were formidable. In this short time, he had basically regained full fighting capacity.

After regaining his composure, Zheng Zha asked Chu Xuan excitedly, "That’s fantastic! We’ve acquired another plot item. Tell us quickly, what does this 'Bio-Reconstruction Gene File' do? Does it mean we can freely reorganize our own genes? Doesn't that imply unlocking the fourth stage of the Genetic Lock?"

Chu Xuan replied, "Impossible. It's merely a schematic detailing how to synthesize retro-evolutionary gene serums. At most, it includes a few entries on reorganizing genes back to ancient life forms and methods for causing those gene fragments to disappear. This item is useless to us, but... it must be related to the third sub-plot mission in this horror movie."

All three froze, exchanging stunned glances. Based on what they previously knew, this horror movie only seemed to have two sub-plots: the main storyline of Jurassic Park II—what was happening on this island—and the events of the island from Jurassic Park I. While they still didn't know what transpired there, it seemed likely to contain a sub-plot too. But besides those two islands, could there possibly be a third? Chu Xuan’s voice continued, "Zheng Zha, have you noticed something? None of us received a time limit for this mission. In other words, we could potentially remain alive in this world for ten years, as long as we don't go to Isla Sorna or meddle with anything else, right?" Zheng Zha paused, thinking carefully before exclaiming in surprise, "You’re right, this horror movie mission has absolutely no time constraint. Does that mean... we could train in this world for a longer period? Although my internal energy and vampire energy progress slowly, I have definitely surpassed my initial enhanced states through training. If we had ample time..."

"Impossible. I had similar doubts before, but do you know why I urged everyone to board the transport ship and reach this island so quickly? Because I sensed something deeply wrong. Given the 'Main God's' history, such a massive loophole shouldn't exist. For this Jurassic Park II world, we only needed to steal those few T-Rex eggs from the museum to complete the mission safely. It’s such a simple task—so why didn’t the 'Main God' impose a time limit? I considered many possibilities, and only one conclusion seemed plausible... remaining in that city, or staying in this world indefinitely, puts us in extreme danger!" Chu Xuan said slowly. "I wonder if you’ve noticed that the deeper we move toward the island's center, the greater the quantity of ancient insects becomes. And it’s not just giant bees; we’ve encountered several other ancient insects previously, far exceeding normal densities, larger in size, and greater in number. Do you know what this signifies? It signifies they are still evolving... evolving to adapt to this world's oxygen ratio. This swarm of giant bees has clearly already adapted. Once these insects complete their adaptation, they will begin to breed exponentially, and the only likely outcome is the potential annihilation of human society. Therefore, the longer we stay in this world, the smaller our chance of survival becomes. If we stay five years, this world will be overrun by countless giant insects, and we still won't have the T-Rex eggs. The result would be enjoying a few years of peace before we are all killed here. It's that simple: 'Danger equals Reward' applies just as well to safely enjoying time."

Zheng Zha’s mind clicked, and he suddenly understood. "I see. Your supposed third sub-plot must only become available after completing the first sub-plot, and it requires fully grasping the future threat posed by these insects, as well as understanding the meaning of this document to be completed..."

"Exactly. Handing this file over to the human government of this world, changing the future fate where ancient insects might destroy human society—that is the meaning of the sub-plot: altering the course of the story," Chu Xuan stated coldly, pushing up his glasses as he stood calmly on the glider.
