Bawang, whose weapon had the most pronounced appearance, carried that two-meter-long tubular pulse ejector. In reality, it wasn't excessively heavy—certainly much lighter than Zheng Zha's multi-barrel machine gun. Furthermore, upon firing, recoil generated a downward gas expulsion to counteract most of the kickback, meaning Bawang felt no significant difficulty handling the weapon.
“Being a heavy fire support specialist isn't just about casually firing a heavy machine gun. That’s just a fool venting. A true fire support specialist is someone who can cover the area around you, firing in all directions within their firing arc, while you remain safe. Therefore, the fire support specialist must be intimately familiar with their weapon—every tremor, every bullet’s trajectory, every ricochet. Because bullets aren't your fingers; once fired, you can never fully command their direction. Yet, you must be able to crawl forward under that hail of fire. That is the role of the fire support specialist!” This was Bawang's explanation to the group. He then tested the forehead pulse ejector. When the rotating barrel spun up, the resulting muzzle flash was deep blue. This was certainly not a gunpowder weapon, but a genuinely pure, futuristic technology weapon—the manifestation of a pulse wave.
As this blue flame erupted, countless projectiles, invisible to the naked eye, instantly impacted the ten-meter-thick alloy steel plate before them.
That alloy steel plate—it should perhaps be called an alloy steel wall—began to exhibit a dense pattern of minuscule impact marks.
Simultaneously, the entire wall rang with a violent, grating screech, like metal being violently torn by a reciprocating saw. Meanwhile, the target placed behind the steel wall was instantly pulverized and shattered. This entire process took less than a single second. The destructive power of this tubular pulse ejector was utterly terrifying.
Bawang and Wang Xia were clearly stunned by this immense power, but Zheng Zha and Chu Xuan merely nodded silently, as if undisturbed. One had witnessed high-power weaponry before, and the other was naturally detached by disposition. Neither exhibited any surprise at this terrifying capability.
“This, this is the tubular pulse ejector? Damn, isn't this power too terrifying?” Bawang stared blankly at the weapon in his hands. The weapon also vented pale blue airflow downward, making Bawang, standing within the stream, look absolutely striking and imposing. By its appearance alone, this was clearly a high-tech weapon.
Combined with its massive frame and Bawang's bear-like stature holding it, just standing there radiated an intimidating aura.
Zheng Zha smiled and explained, “This weapon can fire seventy thousand rounds per second. Each bullet is as fine as a needle tip, and upon impact, the kinetic energy alone is enough to tear the target in half. That’s why standard models require reloading the magazine after only a few seconds of firing—that’s the weapon’s biggest limitation. But this one, with infinite ammunition, is different. It truly lives up to the C-Grade scenario and high-tech designation; the expenditure of C-Grade plot points was not in vain.”
Bawang laughed twice, suddenly curious. “If C-Grade side mission high-tech weapons are this powerful, I wonder how terrifying B-Grade and A-Grade high-tech weapons must be.”
Zheng Zha pondered for a moment. “Generally speaking, technological weapons require the fewest side mission points. Most weapons requiring plot points are high-tech items with infinite ammunition, which is why a firearm of this magnitude only costs C-Grade points. Next are legendary magic weapons and certain items—here, ‘items’ refers to magic tools or scrolls. If their power is to match this C-Grade high-tech weapon, they would generally require double the side mission points, meaning two C-Grades, and they still wouldn't be infinitely usable. In short, during the early and middle stages of a team’s development, future high-tech weapons are among the best tools to acquire.”
“Of course, aside from weapons, the ‘Main God’ places the highest cost on Attribute and Skill enhancements. These two are far more expensive than anything else because once enhanced, they are essentially infinite. More importantly, you yourself become powerful; even without the weapon, you would be strong enough. So, the path of team development is: early stages focus on high-tech weapons; mid-stages transition to balancing enhancements and high-tech weaponry; and the late stages rely primarily on continuous enhancements and item usage.”
Bawang and Wang Xia listened, slightly stunned, but their expressions clearly showed excitement. They didn’t seem troubled or concerned by such combat and enhancement prospects; rather, they appeared eager to try them out. This was perhaps the innate composure of soldiers.
Next, it was Wang Xia’s turn to test his weapon’s capability. The Gravity High-Yield Mine was a consumable item, costing one precious D-Grade side mission point each use—truly painful to deploy. However, to accurately gauge its destructive radius for optimal placement, using one for testing was unavoidable. Since there was nothing to trigger the mine naturally, Wang Xia specifically rigged it with a one-minute timer.
“This mine can be set to detect the weight of the person who steps on it. That’s convenient. If we’re in a sci-fi horror movie scenario, we could set our weight and the monsters' weights separately, so we don’t have to worry about our own people setting it off,” Zheng Zha observed, smiling at the Gravity High-Yield Mine.
Wang Xia nodded. He carefully placed the pitch-black mine near the edge of the ten-meter steel wall. It was only the size of a fist, appearing utterly inconspicuous, like an ordinary stone. He then set the timer for one minute.
Everyone, including Wang Xia, retreated, running over five hundred meters to a defensive structure as a precaution. Soon, the minute elapsed. As the timed high-explosive charge detonated, a fireball shot skyward, causing everyone to instinctively shut their eyes.
When the fiery blast subsided, they observed that besides a large hole blasted into the steel wall, nothing else in the immediate area seemed altered. The group exchanged bewildered glances. This power did not match the mine’s grandiose name—a D-Grade side mission, high-tech future weapon. It shouldn't be this weak, surely?
Wang Xia reacted most strangely. He ran out of the structure and rushed toward the steel wall. Zheng Zha and the others exchanged a look and followed. Where the mine had been placed, there was now a large crater, nearly two meters in diameter and over a meter deep, carved into the alloy wall, and an identical depression scarred the alloy floor. Considering the material, the power of the timed high-explosive charge was undeniable.
Yet, the Gravity High-Yield Mine had not detonated. Instead, it lay intact within the newly created alloy crater, still looking black and unremarkable. However, the group now sensed its profound significance. A mine that survived such a violent explosion could not possibly be ordinary.
Wang Xia picked up the mine, turning it over oddly in his hands, before finally stating, “This makes no sense. Could it be a dud?”
Zheng Zha’s mind clicked. He thought for a moment and suggested, “Try reducing the trigger weight setting to one kilogram.”
Saying this, Zheng Zha picked up a piece of metallic debris from the ground. He watched as Wang Xia adjusted the mine's trigger weight, and then they all retreated once more to a safe distance.
Once they were a hundred meters away, Zheng Zha immediately entered his Gene Lock unlocked state. He then tossed the metal shard toward the mine in mid-air. At a hundred meters, his accuracy in this state was frighteningly precise; the shard struck the surface of the Gravity High-Yield Mine easily. Suddenly, Zheng Zha felt a surge of danger approaching him. The others had already retreated three or four hundred meters; only he remained within the hundred-meter radius. He immediately knew something was wrong because his body suddenly felt heavy, and the life-threatening premonition intensified. Disregarding everything else, he activated his ‘Explosion’ skill, pushing off the alloy ground with immense force, leaving a distinct footprint and propelling himself over ten meters away.
Behind him, the black mine violently erupted. The ground centered on its position violently curled upward, as if being violently crumpled into a ball by an immense force. The rolling perimeter expanded rapidly, covering almost the entire distance to him within a second, finally stopping ten meters behind him. Yet, Zheng Zha felt a massive pull emanating from behind him, threatening to drag him back. Terrified, he exerted even more effort, sprinting outward with deep imprints marking nearly every footstep. Only when his Explosion skill ended did he realize he had covered a total distance of one hundred meters. The dragging force behind him finally ceased. As he turned to look back, he leaped backward in shock—
