The Federation’s sudden amendment to the Military Service Act prompted Qin Fen to consider things more deeply.
After a few seconds of quiet contemplation, Qin Fen readily filled out the enlistment form, specifying the Army as his volunteer direction.
Interplanetary warfare, he reasoned, would likely start with battles between massive space battleships and smaller spacecraft, concluding only when ground forces were dispatched for occupation duties.
If war did erupt, even as an ordinary civilian, true safety wouldn't be guaranteed. As a soldier, perhaps the infantry might be comparatively safer than civilians.
Having finished the registration details, Qin Fen suddenly let out a long, drawn-out yawn. Moments ago he had been alert, but now an overwhelming exhaustion washed over him.
Sleepy! A powerful drowsiness he’d never known swept through Qin Fen’s entire body. He forced his eyelids open and staggered to the bedside, collapsing weakly onto the **.
Finally, sleepiness... A thought flitted through Qin Fen’s mind as he drifted off, succumbing to the overwhelming slumber.
Moonlight outside cast a cold, clear glow, shining through the pane of the old, yet meticulously clean, glass window and bathing Qin Fen’s figure.
Submerged in the moonlight, Qin Fen’s breathing was deep and even, while a single, star-like pinpoint of light shimmered faintly between his brows.
In his deep slumber, Qin Fen found himself floating in a vast expanse of absolute blackness.
How vast? Qin Fen couldn't possibly say. Looking out into this black void, though there was no discernible light source, it somehow allowed his vision to stretch endlessly, offering no obstruction whatsoever.
“What is this…” Qin Fen looked around at his surroundings with a strange feeling. “Am I dreaming?”
A very strange dream, Qin Fen quickly concluded. This was the first time he had known he was dreaming right from the start of the experience.
The dark space suddenly flared with light, and a massive screen, like something from a cinema, materialized out of thin air.
It was a silent "Wuxia film," or perhaps an "Action film."
There were only a few characters in the "movie," with no background context provided. It jumped straight into combat.
New martial arts and Ancient Martial Arts frequently appeared in the hands of the combatants. The sheer force behind every strike convinced Qin Fen that he was indeed dreaming.
Though rumors spoke of martial artists cultivating Ancient or New Martial Arts to the point where they could shatter peaks, and reaching a supreme realm where they could soar freely through space without any protective gear, these were just tales. Qin Fen had never witnessed anything like it.
The figures in the "movie" were far more terrifying than the legends suggested. With every gesture, they could crush mountains. The violent struggle unleashed terrifying earthquakes, causing molten rock to erupt from the earth’s depths.
Soon, the intense battle shifted into space. Without any protective gear, these individuals completely disregarded the established laws of cosmic technology, attacking each other with manic intensity. The massive energy unleashed by each blow was more explosive and ferocious than any scene in a fantasy film.
“It really is a dream,” Qin Fen muttered, shaking his head. “This is just too exaggerated…”
Before the words had fully left his lips, the colossal screen vanished. Qin Fen was momentarily stunned. This dream was truly bizarre; he hadn't willed the "movie" away, so why did it suddenly disappear?
The empty black space was suddenly peppered with countless specks of light. These points slowly converged above Qin Fen, eventually coalescing into a massive humanoid shape.
The figure formed by the light points looked down upon Qin Fen from a lofty position. After a few seconds, the light-man suddenly began to speak.
“Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong as the foundation, low strength level, excellent physical condition, tremendous developmental potential, unable to undergo the explosive power enhancement step via Star Force infusion…”
Immediately following this, the light-man uttered a string of data Qin Fen could not comprehend, mixed with an assortment of unfamiliar, strange languages.
The light figure slowly descended until it was directly in front of Qin Fen, its two eyes glowing crimson as they fixed upon him. A voice devoid of emotion slowly spoke: “You require training…”
“Training?” Qin Fen was stunned again. Had his recent continuous battles subconsciously driven him to desire strength training, leading him to manifest this in his dream?
The light-man ignored Qin Fen’s internal debate and proceeded to execute the Shaolin Arhat Fist, the form Qin Fen knew best. With every raising of an arm and every planting of a foot, the white light-body emitted sounds of dragon roars and elephant trumpeting, so loud they made Qin Fen’s head swim.
Rumor had it that when the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong reached a certain level, one could gain the strength of ten dragons and ten elephants, and every strike would cause the bones and sinews to emit these sounds—the mere resonance of his own skeleton being enough to injure an opponent.
Qin Fen had always assumed this was just hyperbolic description. Yet, the light-man before him, using the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong as a base while performing the Shaolin Arhat Fist, generated the sounds of roaring dragons and trumpeting elephants with every blow.
This dream... The sheer volume of the sounds shook Qin Fen’s chest, momentarily suffocating him, and his internal Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong energy showed signs of surging.
Shouldn't dreams be free of pain or physical sensation? Qin Fen raised his eyelids, eyeing his surroundings with suspicion, and subtly pinched the back of his own hand.
Pain! Qin Fen looked at his pinched hand in shock—there was genuine pain! Was this not a dream?
After completing the Shaolin Arhat Fist, the light-man seamlessly transitioned into a set of powerful, sweeping movements from the Great Flood Fist.
Qin Fen’s eyes widened further in astonishment. Both the Shaolin Arhat Fist and the Great Flood Fist were routines he practiced most frequently; the light-man seemed to know his most familiar forms.
Once both sequences were done, the light-man disregarded Qin Fen’s surprise and sat cross-legged on the ground, entering a meditative posture.
A thin red line suddenly appeared traversing the body of the white light figure. This line moved with extreme regularity throughout the interior, clearly depicting the flow map of an internal energy cultivation technique.
Qin Fen frowned in confusion. This schematic bore some resemblance to the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong, yet many pathways differed significantly. Furthermore, one full cycle took over twenty times longer than the time required for the first stage of the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong.
“Follow and practice, First Stage of the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong…” the mechanical voice instructed Qin Fen after the light figure completed one full circuit.
“First Stage of the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong?” Qin Fen looked at the strange light figure. “Are you treating me like I’ve never practiced the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Gong? Yours must be fake…”
