Having departed Jiuyan Marsh, Luo Feng sped toward the East Army camp; besides him, 'Wu He' had also quietly left the Marsh.
As for the squads accepting the mission—the Captains, Kufa, and Yu Luo—the three groups of soldiers remained near Jiuyan Marsh. Only the Captains had secured a True God corpse; the other soldiers, including Kufa and Yu Luo, had all failed to amass enough military merit and were scrambling for options.
To kill each other? To continue hunting? To reap the rewards of others’ strife?
In any case, they would certainly exert every effort... but it was already destined that such a catastrophic mission would claim the lives of many among them.
...
"Finally arrived."
Boom!
A figure materialized in mid-air; it was Luo Feng.
Luo Feng gazed from afar at the boundless, sprawling military camp, a slight smile touching his lips. Simultaneously, he looked down, seeing the long, dragon-like queue of tribal warriors and alien beasts waiting to join the army.
"Whoosh!" Luo Feng flew directly into the camp.
Just as Luo Feng entered the East Army camp, outside its perimeter, a section of space was warping. Here lay a multitude of wormholes, created and left behind by supreme experts.
Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!
Almost every moment, soldiers emerged from different wormholes.
"Let's go. This mission was relatively simple; we finished quickly. Now we have another Era of leisure."
"Go."
"Sigh, our next assignment will be a Samsara-level mission. Who knows how many of our small team will survive. I hope we earned enough military merit this time to get more treasures from the armory, enough to pull through the Samsara-level mission."
Batches of soldiers departed, some relaxed, some grim, some anxious.
The East Army was vast.
Soldiers were leaving constantly. Amidst those departing, perched on the branch of a massive, ancient, thick tree in the distance, stood a seemingly ordinary soldier at the Law Master level.
"Under the command of the Ancestor, after joining the army, even with mission obligations, I haven't executed any... I've just been waiting here. For so long, I've never even glimpsed the Galaxy Master once," the soldier in gray armor thought anxiously, maintaining his constant watch.
"The Galaxy Master is powerful, but what of it? Even if he surpasses Samsara, he merely adds another holy land to our Sea of Universe. It poses no threat to our Purple Moon Holy Land," the gray-armored soldier puzzled internally.
"Once a Holy Land is established, it exists eternally."
"Our Purple Moon Holy Land Universe fears no expert. I don't know why the Ancestor values the Galaxy Master so highly. Even after arriving in this Jin World... he commanded us to immediately track down the Galaxy Master's whereabouts."
The gray-armored soldier sighed inwardly.
He didn't understand.
He was confused, but these were the Ancestor's orders, and he dared not disobey.
...
The vast Sea of Universe, mysterious and unfathomable.
The 'Purple Moon Holy Land Universe,' one of the two great Holy Land Universes.
"Still no trace of Luo Feng?" the Purple Moon Ancestor expressed irritation and displeasure.
The two figures kneeling below were extremely respectful and tense.
"Ancestor, we watched the Tomb Ship enter the Jin World, and we followed immediately. Based on his entry point, if he joined the army, he is most likely in the East Army! After I joined the East Army, I monitored the vicinity of the wormhole exits constantly, and indeed, we have never spotted the Galaxy Master."
"We truly haven't found him, Ancestor. Could the Galaxy Master Luo Feng not have joined the army yet?"
The two Universe Masters knelt subserviently.
"He possesses the inheritance of the Broken East River lineage. Even within the Jin World, it would be easy for him to break through and even carve out a formidable reputation," the Purple Moon Ancestor looked down upon the two Universe Masters coldly. "You two must not only stake out the wormhole exits but also frequently inquire for news. If his fame grows, it will be easy for you to pinpoint his location."
"Yes."
"Yes."
Both Universe Masters respectfully acknowledged.
"Ancestor, our... our army missions..." one of the four-armed, two-faced Universe Masters ventured tentatively.
"You two will alternate. One watches and patrols, the other goes to complete the army missions. Once finished, return to the camp to continue searching and investigating, then switch so the other can go on assignment." The Purple Moon Ancestor stated coldly. "In this first wave, very few from the Purple Moon Holy Land entered the Jin World. When the next Era arrives, quite a few Universe Masters will pass through. Then your burden will lighten."
"Yes."
The two Universe Masters also longed for the arrival of the next Era.
"Go." The Purple Moon Ancestor waved his hand.
The two Universe Masters respectfully retreated.
The Purple Moon Ancestor's face was indistinct, only his eyes holding a faint, sinister quality overlaid with endless killing intent. "I thought I couldn't kill you, but unexpectedly, the Jin World has appeared! In the Jin World... too many people can kill you, Luo Feng! Luo Feng, don't blame me; you can only blame yourself for obtaining the Broken East River lineage inheritance."
Virtual Universe.
At the summit of Thunder Island, Luo Feng met with City Lord Chaos.
"Luo Feng."
"Teacher."
Master and disciple sat apart.
"I just completed a disaster-level mission and earned considerable military merit," Luo Feng stated. "Completing this mission means that, for a very long time, I am safe at least. I will quickly ascertain the mysteries of this entire Jin World!"
"Mm, you are the first one from our human race to enter," City Lord Chaos nodded. "The responsibility you carry is the heaviest. Right now, the entire Sea of Universe—whether within the Original Universe, in other Samsara Ages, or the other Holy Land Universes—all experts have their gazes fixed on the Jin World. After all, the intelligence gathered by the first batch entering the Jin World is incredibly enticing."
Luo Feng nodded.
This was only natural.
In the Sea of Universe, numerous experts yearned to transcend Samsara and obtain a supreme ultimate treasure.
But in the Jin World... there were many Void True Gods! Clearly, there existed a very complete cultivation method to break through to True God and advance to 'Void True God.' Furthermore, those so-called supreme ultimate treasures... were standard True God weaponry and armor issued by the army; there were simply far too many, and even many miraculous mechanical stream treasures existed.
The chance to transcend Samsara? Supreme ultimate treasures? Mechanical stream treasures?
The immense allure caused all factions in the Sea of Universe, for a time, to lose interest in the other three great perilous areas, focusing instead with excitement and covetousness on the 'Jin World.' Yet, the chance to enter was granted only once per Era.
"Previously, the Original Universe's source intent contacted me through the Ancestral God," Luo Feng smiled. "Evidently, I'm currently faring the best in the Jin World, and I should leverage this advantage. Also... I obtained significant military merit this time; perhaps I can bring back some supreme ultimate treasures. When an Era passes and I can leave, I will send some supreme ultimate treasures back."
City Lord Chaos was overjoyed by this.
The Jin World was the most crucial battlefield! Major powers competed there.
But the human territory in the Original Universe was humanity's foundation! Only by expanding the territory, cultivating more human geniuses, and constantly giving rise to more powerful beings could the human race rival, or even surpass, the other two great Holy Land Universes.
"Teacher, I will go to the Armory first," Luo Feng said. "In the Armory, military merit can be exchanged for inheritances and numerous treasures. I believe... through the Armory, I might be able to glean more secrets of the entire Jin World. Once I understand the Armory, I will inform you of everything."
"Go ahead," City Lord Chaos instructed. "But remember, don't take risks. The Jin World is far more dangerous than our Sea of Universe."
Luo Feng nodded.
...
Despite adventuring within the Jin World, Luo Feng still frequently contacted his teacher for discussions and kept abreast of developments in the Sea of Universe. The Sea of Universe was currently deceptively calm... clearly, all parties were watching the Jin World!
East Army Camp, Manghe Army encampment.
Luo Feng and Wu He arrived at the encampment almost one after the other.
"Galaxy, Galaxy," Wu He trotted eagerly behind Luo Feng, the wings on its neck flapping continuously. "I've prepared the treasures; just give me a share."
"Prepared?" Luo Feng looked at him mockingly. "Don't rush. I'll go to the Armory first. After I return, we'll have a good talk."
Wu He was somewhat unwilling because once Luo Feng visited the Armory, he would understand the true value of certain treasures, and Luo Feng would likely squeeze him hard. However, no matter how reluctant Wu He was, he dared not argue with Luo Feng, so he could only wiggle his ugly face, flattering Luo Feng: "Fine, fine, we'll talk after you return from the Armory, Galaxy. Please don't keep every single portion for yourself." His greatest fear was that this new recruit, Galaxy, would trade all the True God corpses for military merit, leaving him destitute—which would be tantamount to a death sentence for him.
"Don't worry," Luo Feng nodded.
Whoosh!
Luo Feng immediately left the encampment, heading toward the Armory Hall in high spirits.
The lake encampment of the Manghe Army was quite far from the Hall, but Luo Feng treated the journey like a sightseeing tour, his mood excellent, strolling until he finally reached the Armory Hall.
"Armory!" Luo Feng looked up at the majestic, ancient hall.
"According to the rules, one is eligible to exchange for treasures at the Armory before accepting a mission and after completing one. But once a mission is accepted and not yet finished... entry is forbidden," Luo Feng murmured the military regulations softly before stepping directly into the vast, imposing main gate of the ancient hall.
Upon entering the gate, space and time immediately shifted, as if he had entered another world entirely.
"What kind of secret technique is this?" Luo Feng was astonished. Before him stretched a boundless world, filled with soldiers scattered everywhere, each soldier attended by a golden figure.
"Even more miraculous than the Virtual Universe," Luo Feng marveled secretly.
Whoosh!
A golden figure condensed from thin air and descended before Luo Feng. Luo Feng stared closely at the figure... but couldn't discern its face at all; the figure was completely enveloped in golden light.
"Manghe Army soldier, you have an active mission and are not permitted to exchange for any items at the Armory," the golden figure addressed Luo Feng.
"My mission is complete." Luo Feng waved his hand, and beside him instantly materialized the corpse of a massive, writhing, coiled alien beast True God. It was a gigantic corpse nearly a million kilometers long. Its sudden appearance startled even the distant soldiers nearby, considering that almost all soldiers within the Armory were Law Masters.
