"The difference between an ordinary legion and a special legion is truly vast." Hengxing Demon God recalled the long list of treasures and the required military merits he had seen earlier. "So many special weapons, machines, precious treasures, and powerful inheritances... ordinary legions can't exchange for them even with military merits! Even when they can, the cost is far greater than for special legions."
"But I'm only mid-tier even in the ordinary legions. How can I get into a special legion?" Hengxing Demon God shook his head.
He didn't want to die.
"To hell with it, this Jin World is just a place to find opportunities. I still have to return to the Sea of Universe eventually. After all, if I don't pass through three Great Cycles of Samsara, I will perish," Hengxing Demon God mused internally. "Yes, the most urgent thing now is to quickly comprehend this supreme attack treasure set and boost my strength! Once comprehended, I could be considered top-tier even within the ordinary legions."
This time, he had exchanged for the "Supreme Treasure Palace" attack supreme treasure set.
The latter part of the set was the most expensive.
It also contained extremely profound secret arts. Once comprehended, it would aid in breakthroughs, perhaps allowing him to reach the limit of a True God one day.
"Right."
"I need to accumulate more military merits."
"Acquire more supreme treasures, and then return to the Sea of Universe to exchange them with other powerhouses for supreme treasures," Hengxing Demon God's eyes brightened. "The supreme treasures in the Sea of Universe vary in value; some are True God-grade, and some are probably Void True God-grade. Then I can bring them back to the Jin World for exchange. Hahaha... but I have to seize this opportunity. The longer it drags on, the more people will learn this secret."
"Let's go! Back to the camp."
Hengxing Demon God and the other beast soldier laughed and chatted as they left the Armament Depot Hall.
Jiuyan Marsh was an incomparably vast swamp.
Countless powerful beasts nested here; it was an extremely formidable beast faction.
The outermost perimeter of Jiuyan Marsh.
"Whoosh!"
A black warship materialized out of thin air, hiding within the dense weeds on the periphery of the great marsh.
The warship's hatch opened, and figures flew out one after another. The warship then vanished.
"We have arrived at Jiuyan Marsh." Kufa's voice was crisp as she surveyed her surroundings. The soldiers were all highly vigilant and cautious. "Luo Feng and Wu He, we part ways here. I wish you both good luck."
Kufa's group of soldiers all looked toward Luo Feng and Wu He, and many offered words of blessing.
"Thank you," Luo Feng and Wu He both replied.
Among the three groups in this squad, Kufa's group was the one they felt most favorably toward. However, for this disaster-level mission, it was understandable that they wouldn't bring them along.
"Let's go."
Luo Feng and Wu He swiftly transformed into streaks of light and quietly slipped away into the distance among the weeds.
Kufa and the others watched Luo Feng and Wu He depart.
"The two new recruits are gone. It's time for us to make our move," Kufa said, sweeping her gaze around.
Mists swirled, and roars echoed faintly.
Luo Feng and Wu He, those poor fellows, were cautiously hiding in a patch of grass on the very edge of Jiuyan Marsh.
"Back in the North True Sea, I used to charge around recklessly, and no one dared to provoke me. But coming here to Jiuyan Marsh, I have to hide like this," Wu He grumbled unwillingly.
"Enough. We at least have to survive this mission. If you don't complete the task assigned by the army, even your father can't save you," Luo Feng stated.
Wu He nodded his large head, then asked, "Galaxy, what should we do? Completing the ten thousand military merit quota requires killing beasts in Jiuyan Marsh. If we start fighting, we'll definitely be discovered. With our strength, even joining forces, we can't kill a single True God beast, let alone two as required for us combined!"
Luo Feng frowned.
Killing True Gods?
He could manage to kill one True God at full burst, but it would require a very long time. In an environment like Jiuyan Marsh, he absolutely wouldn't be allowed to attack a single True God for that long.
"Galaxy, do you have a plan?" Wu He asked anxiously.
"What's the rush?" Luo Feng said sharply. "Our mission time extends until the next mission—nearly one Great Cycle! That's plenty of time for us to slowly search for opportunities."
Wu He let out a sigh of relief. "Right, the time is long enough, but... but I can't think of a way."
"Wu He," Luo Feng looked at him. "For this mission, if you listen to me, we operate together. If you don't listen to me, then we can only act separately."
"Oh?" Wu He's eyes lit up. "Galaxy, you have a plan? As long as you have a way, I'll do whatever you ask, though I won't do anything suicidal."
"A plan is something thought up," Luo Feng said deeply. "Right now, we must figure out the situation on the periphery of Jiuyan Marsh. Only by understanding the situation can we look for opportunities based on the circumstances. It would be foolish to make a plan blindly without knowing the layout."
Wu He nodded repeatedly.
"Let's go," Luo Feng commanded.
Luo Feng led Wu He and began cautiously investigating the outermost parts of Jiuyan Marsh.
Everything had to be combined with reality to find an opportunity.
In the blink of an eye, half a year passed.
"Whoosh~~~"
A fierce wind blew, causing the weeds to sway.
Within the weeds, two figures, now incredibly small like ants, peered outwards.
In the distant open area, dozens of figures were engaged in chaotic melee.
"You bastards from Xuanpeng Mountain! You were defeated last time, and you dare to kill your way here again? Go, kill those scum from Xuanzhu Mountain!" A beast covered entirely in scales, possessing four clawed limbs, a long neck, and a triangular head roared furiously. Beside it stood twelve other identical beasts.
"Roar~~~"
"Scum!"
"The bastards from Xuannan Mountain!"
"Kill them!"
This group of beasts roared as they clashed with numerous burly warriors wielding weapons. These warriors were humanoid, incredibly fierce, wielding weapons and howling madly.
"Last time, you guys from Jiuyan Marsh were defeated; our Xuanji Mountain won a great victory! Brothers, kill these beasts!"
"Kill!"
This group of over twenty tribal warriors charged forward with savage roars, incredibly swift and savage, engaging the beasts in fierce combat. For a time, the surrounding space trembled with the ferocity of the slaughter.
The tribal warriors held the numerical advantage, while the beast faction had superior divine bodies.
"Galaxy, they are fighting each other," Wu He watched intently, transmitting his voice. "And none of them have True God-grade battle armor protecting them, fighting so wildly, their divine bodies will deplete quickly. It won't be long before some die. We can wait, and then swoop in later to seize the leftover weapons. That counts as our military merit."
For this mission, proving the kill of a True God required the corpse, while proving the kill of a Lord of Laws required the weapon, which the army would later confirm with Jiuyan Marsh.
So, as long as they secured the weapons...
And since the beasts were truly dead, those could definitely be counted as military merits.
"Don't be hasty," Luo Feng frowned and transmitted back.
"We've been scouting around the periphery of Jiuyan Marsh for so long and haven't earned a single military merit," Wu He was anxious.
"Why the hurry? I ask you: in all the time we’ve scouted the Jiuyan Marsh periphery, how many battles have we discovered in total?" Luo Feng transmitted. "How vast is Jiuyan Marsh? We've explored so little ground, yet we found three clashes. How many such battles must there be across the entire periphery?"
Wu He paused. "Uh... perhaps tens of thousands?"
"Galaxy?" Wu He looked at Luo Feng in shock.
He immediately realized something was amiss.
"And you should have noticed," Luo Feng continued transmitting, "they are fighting, yet the other beasts in Jiuyan Marsh can definitely sense the fluctuations, but none have come to intervene. The previous two battles were inconsequential, I didn't hear others, but this time I heard Xuanpeng Mountain. What faction is Xuanpingshan?"
"Xuannan Mountain?" Wu He clarified. "Xuanbishan is another powerful faction very close to Jiuyan Marsh, on par with it. Jiuyan Marsh is a beast faction commanded by three Void True Gods, while Xuannan Mountain is a tribal alliance commanded by four Void True Gods. However, because these two massive factions rarely fight, since any full-scale war would be devastating."
Luo Feng nodded.
Many thoughts flashed through his mind.
"If these two great factions aren't at war normally, would there be so many Lord of Law warriors fighting each other?" Luo Feng inquired.
"No," Wu He replied. "If neither side is at war, they will restrain their subordinate warriors to prevent provoking bilateral conflict."
Luo Feng smiled. "But the fact that we have encountered three battles consecutively means that Xuanbishan and Jiuyan Marsh are currently in a state of war! Perhaps this is just a temporary lull, allowing these Lord of Law warriors to clash amongst themselves..."
"What are you suggesting?" Wu He asked.
"Since Xuanbishan and Jiuyan Marsh are fighting," Luo Feng said, "then we should devise a way to instigate the True Gods from both sides to fight each other, and then collect the corpses afterward."
"True God combat?" Wu He shook his head. "Impossible."
"It's hard to provoke a massive war between True Gods, but provoking a clash between individual True Gods is still possible," Luo Feng's eyes shone; a plan was already forming in his mind. "Listen to me, follow me."
Luo Feng and Wu He immediately moved swiftly and quietly away through the grass.
