From his appearance, he looked like an ordinary, somewhat frail office worker, and the little girl’s slightly uneasy expression and movements were just right. These two clearly looked like ordinary people.

These police officers peered in through the car windows. Two of them then checked the vehicle's license plate. Immediately, those two rushed back, and the expressions of these police officers changed drastically. They almost simultaneously drew their guns and aimed at those inside the car.

Zheng Zha reacted the fastest. His left hand, wearing the storage ring, trembled slightly, and he almost drew the submachine gun out of the ring. But then he saw that the police officers were aiming their handguns at the driver, and in that split second, he quickly lowered his left hand again.

The taxi driver was utterly bewildered. First, he saw a young man punch straight through the car seat, which frightened him so much he dared not speak. Now, so many police officers were pointing guns at him. Had he failed to check the almanac before going out today? The police officers were not polite. They carefully aimed their guns at the driver. Two of them pulled open the door and violently dragged the driver out, then snap, they handcuffed his hands behind his back. Simultaneously, two police officers swiftly frisked him, turning out all the bags and identification on his person.

“We apologize for the disturbance. This driver is a fugitive our police have been pursuing.”

One of the plainclothes officers walked up to the window of Zheng Zha and the girl. He pulled out his credentials and stated formally, “We apologize for the disturbance. This driver is a wanted fugitive we have been tracking.”

Zheng Zha breathed a sigh of relief, but a faint unease still lingered in his heart. He could only smile calmly, “Then we thank you very much. Perhaps he would have extorted us in the car... Can we leave now?” The officer also smiled, “Of course, no problem. But before that, please come with us to give a statement. This is a responsibility that every citizen should fulfill. I assume you two won't have any issue with that, right?” Zheng Zha could only take the little girl’s hand and step out of the car. The plainclothes officer then smiled and led the pair toward a nearby command vehicle, saying, “I won’t go up with you. Either of you can go in; after the statement, you can leave.”

With that, the man turned and left decisively.

Zheng Zha watched the plainclothes officer walk over ten meters away before speaking to the little girl, “Li'er, I’ll go in to give a statement. Wait here for a moment... Perhaps I was being too suspicious just now. The aiming direction might have been at the driver. Heh, then after a while, let’s go wander around our old high school.”

Saying this, he stepped onto the command vehicle.

The light inside the command vehicle was somewhat dim, and Zheng Zha felt quite unaccustomed upon entering. Just as he was blinking to adjust to the darkness, the premonition of danger struck him once again. Almost simultaneously, several guns extended from the darkness, and a handgun was even pressed against the back of his head.

“Don’t move! Don’t move an inch, or I won't hesitate to take out your joints!” As the man spoke, the command vehicle door slammed shut. Zheng Zha finally saw that there were six people inside. Five of them were aiming handguns at him—no, all six were aiming handguns at him, though one had his gun pressed directly against his head.

Two people emerged from the five facing him. One pinned Zheng Zha to the floor and began searching his belongings, while the other used something resembling a coil of wire to scan Zheng Zha’s body. A moment later, both stood up. “Report, Captain, no weapons (electronic devices) found!” The man behind Zheng Zha lowered his handgun and stated calmly, “Xiao Li, drive to the Public Security Bureau, and while you’re at it, ask if the isolation system in the interrogation room is ready.”

One of the five nodded, walked past the others, and headed for the driver’s seat. At this point, two others were still aiming guns at Zheng Zha.

(…No good, the space in the car is too small; it’s too easy to get hit.)

Zheng Zha got up from the floor and asked coldly, “Why are you arresting me? Who are you?” The man behind Zheng Zha found a seat and sat down. He was a sturdy man in his late twenties, and his posture suggested he was a soldier. He also smiled coldly, “We won’t beat around the bush. Don’t even think about sending out any information from here. The entire vehicle has been completely isolated. An electronic signal jammer—this is a proud accomplishment of Colonel Chu Xuan, whom you kidnapped. Don’t tell me you don’t know that. We are members of the First Squad of the State Security Bureau. And who might you be, sir?” (State Security Bureau? State Security Bureau! You played me, Chu Xuan! What a damned forced move!) Since Zheng Zha’s intelligence had increased to 187, his thought process had become much sharper, and he could quickly grasp certain matters. Even if he couldn't understand immediately, he could usually figure out the crucial point.

Yes, he had definitely been played by Chu Xuan. Although he didn't know how Chu Xuan had managed to notify the government, he had indeed been thoroughly tricked by Chu Xuan! The officer glanced at Zheng Zha, assuming he was ready to confess, and immediately smiled, “Figured it out? Yes, about twenty days ago, we received a location signal from Colonel Chu Xuan’s watch. However, the appearances were intermittent until we finally locked onto you a few days ago. During the surveillance over the past few days, we found no trace of Colonel Chu Xuan. The only possibility is that he has been moved, but the watch remained with you. So, tell us: who infiltrated the base and kidnapped Colonel Chu Xuan? Who is the inside mole who assisted in the abduction? Who met with you here and took him away? And who are you serving?”

Zheng Zha kept his lips tightly sealed, racking his brain to figure out how Chu Xuan managed to disseminate the information. The officer’s mention of the signal being "intermittent" gave him a hint. Why would the signal be intermittent? The only possibility was that the source was isolated or interfered with. That source could only be something in his storage ring. It couldn't be the platinum bricks, as Chu Xuan had no contact with them. Among all the items in his storage ring, the one he used most frequently was… the High-Vibration Particle Cutting Dagger! That was the weapon Chu Xuan had exchanged for him!

Seeing that Zheng Zha still wouldn't speak, the officer wasn't angry. Instead, he closed his eyes and said faintly, “If you don't want to talk, fine. I’ll tell you this... Colonel Chu Xuan possesses several technologies that put our country ahead of the world. National interests come first. Since you traitor have forgotten the country, we won’t easily forgive you... There is a drug called a truth serum, a neural agent. After using it, we can ask everything we want to know. Although you will be reduced to an idiot, that is the punishment you deserve!”

Zheng Zha was still half-crouched on the ground. He discreetly took out the storage ring with his left hand hidden in the shadow. Then, while rising, he concealed the ring inside his mouth, holding it behind his teeth. He asked, “What about her? That girl standing outside the car?” The officer stated faintly, “Her? We found her file too, but the file clearly states she has been dead for ten years. She still looks like a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl. Heh, the faction you serve is truly resourceful, secretly taking people away for ten years of training, and she hasn’t changed her appearance at all upon release. Don’t worry, she will also be at the interrogation room once we reach the Public Security Bureau.”

Zheng Zha breathed a sigh of relief and asked again, “When will I be injected with the truth serum? Today? Tomorrow?” The officer opened his eyes and looked closely at Zheng Zha. “Heh, you traitor are certainly devoted, aren’t you? A few million in platinum was enough to buy you off? Relax, the interrogation specialist is already waiting for you in the interrogation room. If you don’t tell the truth by tomorrow… you can live on as an idiot.”

There was still a chance! He still had a chance to escape! Having gone through the life-and-death cycle of horror movies, Zheng Zha was no longer that utterly ordinary young office worker. He possessed skills beyond those of ordinary people, experience fighting desperately when facing death, and most importantly, a steadfast belief in fighting fiercely to survive! Zheng Zha quickly assessed his current situation: First, he absolutely had to return to the office before midnight, or both he and the little girl would die. Second, he could not reveal anything about the "Main God" Space, or both he and the little girl would die.

The reason these people only took him to the Public Security Bureau’s interrogation room was that they were also pressed for time. They assumed Chu Xuan had been moved, and as a crucial talent holding important national high technology, they absolutely could not allow him to fall into the hands of another country. In other words, they also wanted to extract Chu Xuan’s whereabouts from him quickly.

As for the current time… it was around noon. Zheng Zha remembered it was nearly eleven when he and the little girl left the house, so the current time should be around twelve. From now until midnight, he had twelve hours. During this time, he and the little girl must return to the office, or they would be completely erased by the "Main God."

However, returning to the office early was not an option. He was only one person. In terms of strength, he was only slightly better than an average person in close combat; he certainly hadn't reached superhuman levels. Challenging the machinery of the state with the strength of one man, he didn't believe he could hold out long in the office.

Therefore, the best course of action was to arrive at the office just as midnight approached. This was the only way for him and the little girl to survive! The command vehicle traveled for about ten minutes before slowly stopping. Zheng Zha then asked, “When we were at my door earlier, was someone aiming a sniper rifle at me?” The captain nodded, “That’s right. We intended to use tranquilizer darts to knock you and the girl out. If we had used a powerful anesthetic dart, you both would have lost consciousness instantly, preventing you from relaying any information. However, your senses seem quite sharp. As a last resort, we set up this trap to lure you into this command vehicle full of signal jammers. In fact, that driver was just an ordinary citizen.”

(Just as I thought!) As they were about to get out of the car, the captain brought out a pair of special handcuffs and fastened Zheng Zha’s hands behind his back. He said faintly, “These handcuffs can also absorb stray electronic signals, so give up hope. No one will come to rescue you.”

Zheng Zha smiled but said nothing. He followed the captain out of the car and realized he recognized the surroundings. This Public Security Bureau was about an hour’s journey from the office. If driving, the office could be reached within twenty minutes.

(Escape time… 11:20!) As soon as he stepped out of the car, Zheng Zha felt an indistinct killing intent emanating from all directions. Based on his perception, there were at least three sources of killing intent: one from the people inside the command vehicle behind him, one from inside the Public Security Bureau, and one from a high-rise building not far away. In short, if he made any sudden move now, he would likely be riddled with bullets the next second, or perhaps just have his limbs broken.

Helplessly, he could only calmly follow the captain into the Public Security Bureau. On the third floor, in an inner room, there was an interrogation room with a large pane of glass. Anyone who had seen a few movies would know that countless people were definitely watching him from behind that glass.

(Next, I can only endure.) Zheng Zha closed his eyes and quietly circulated his internal energy. His only worry was the little girl who might be interrogated. He hoped nothing would happen to her, please, please… otherwise! When he returned, he would definitely kill that bastard Chu Xuan! Before long, several people of unknown affiliation entered the room and began talking to Zheng Zha about national morality and the safety of his future. These people even explicitly mentioned injecting him with the truth serum, hoping he would wake up in time and confess voluntarily, as the state would forgive repentant sinners.

Zheng Zha had heard of police brutality before, but the treatment he received showed no violence at all. These people simply kept talking about morality by his ear. Soon, others walked into the interrogation room and whispered something into the ears of the first group. Zheng Zha vaguely caught the words "platinum," "room," and "search." His heart sank. It seemed his parents' home had already been thoroughly searched.

The expressions of these individuals shifted constantly. One of them said, “Zheng Zha, you need to think clearly. Once the truth serum is administered, a person’s consciousness becomes muddled, and the information we need to ask for might not be obtainable. This is why we have been reasoning with you kindly. But if you continue to be stubborn, we will have no choice but to inject you with the truth serum. You should know…” Zheng Zha interrupted him, “How will you treat my parents?” The faces of these people lit up with joy. Zheng Zha had remained silent until now; this was the first time he had spoken. The man quickly said, “Naturally, we won’t wrong the innocent, but that depends on whether you disclose the full truth…” Zheng Zha said faintly, “Give me a watch so I can think carefully. Also, do not use the truth serum on that girl. She doesn’t know where we are supposed to meet. If you harm her, I would rather bite my tongue and commit suicide than reveal Chu Xuan’s location… Rest assured, Chu Xuan is still in this city and will only be transferred abroad the day after tomorrow. I will give you an answer today.”

The men exchanged glances, and one of them nodded slightly. He took off a watch and handed it to Zheng Zha. “You must give us an answer today. If we don’t hear back by midnight, we will have no choice but to use the truth serum on you. You must look out for yourself.”

Zheng Zha said no more. He took the watch and checked the time: 6:40 PM. He hadn't expected the interrogation time to pass so quickly.

Zheng Zha held the watch and rested his eyes. Before entering the interrogation room, everything on him had been confiscated, even his shirt buttons were stripped off. Fortunately, he had put the storage ring in his mouth earlier; otherwise, he wouldn't have known what to do now.

Seven o’clock… eight o’clock… nine o’clock… ten o’clock… eleven o’clock… The personnel came in several times. As midnight slowly approached, Zheng Zha suddenly stood up and said, “Where is the girl who was brought in earlier? Where is she now? Have you used the truth serum on her?” After waiting for more than ten seconds, a voice came from the interrogation room, “Relax, she is fine. We haven’t used any drugs on her; we even delivered her dinner on time.”

Zheng Zha shook his head and said faintly, “I want to see her. If she is fine, I will immediately tell you Chu Xuan’s location and cooperate with you to rescue him. Rest assured, I will also reveal who the mole in the Dragon Stealth Base is.”

After waiting another ten seconds, the voice said again, “Alright, your request can be granted. She is in this very Public Security Bureau…” 11:20… Zheng Zha silently glanced at his watch. He slowly circulated his internal energy to its peak throughout his body.

A few minutes later, several soldiers opened the door to the interrogation room. The little girl rushed in with a cry of “Waa!” and then tightly hugged Zheng Zha.

“Be good, Li'er, don't move, listen to me slowly… No matter what happens in a moment, you must hold onto me tightly, do you understand?” In the moment of hugging the little girl, Zheng Zha subtly spat out the storage ring and slid it onto his finger. Then he channeled his internal energy into the ring. The High-Vibration Particle Cutting Dagger instantly appeared in his left hand, and then… the door of the interrogation room was sliced open! Leaping to
