Zheng Zha’s spatial ring contained plenty of food and fresh water—bread, cheese, lean meat, and a few snacks, abundant in both quantity and quality. There was enough water for the group to last several days, but just in case, they divided the supplies into seven portions, enough for each person to last about three days.

Chu Xuan placed Li Shuaixi’s share of food and water on the table. “This is your portion. As long as you prove you are useful to this team and not a burden, this food and water is yours. After you prove yourself, you will also be a member of our team.”

Li Shuaixi silently lowered his head, took the food and water, and then slipped away to eat and drink heartily by himself.

The rest of them ignored him, each taking their own rations and eating ravenously. The long hours of running and sheer terror from earlier had left them parched and starved. Having finally obtained sufficient provisions made their consumption look somewhat crude.

As Zhan Lan was eating, because she had difficulty using one hand, Zheng Zha quietly helped her tear open the food packaging and poured her a cup of water from a small plastic container. These thoughtful gestures made the young woman Zhan Lan giggle incessantly, leading her to sit right beside Zheng Zha while she ate.

Chu Xuan suddenly interjected, “Right, since we have a moment, tell us how you killed that Alien. I’ve been extremely curious about that part.”

Although the others were eating, discussing matters over a meal seemed to have become a customary habit at the Chinese dinner table. Zheng Zha took a sip of water and replied with a wry smile, “Don’t make it sound like I’m some great warrior. The situation back then was truly life-or-death. We almost died right there. If I hadn't luckily managed to sever the Alien’s tongue first, it’s likely we both would have been the ones dead.”

Chu Xuan paused in thought, then abruptly asked Zero Point, “Using a Desert Eagle, within what range could you hit the Alien’s tongue? I mean a moving Alien, one that is moving extremely fast.”

Zero nodded without lifting his head and replied coldly, “Three-tenths accuracy within 150 meters, four-tenths within 100 meters, five-tenths within 50 meters. That is the absolute limit; I cannot increase the hit rate beyond that proximity.”

Zheng Zha smiled bitterly. A five-tenths chance was only fifty-fifty. The Alien’s tongue was hard enough to cleave gold and iron, and its initial thrust was devastatingly powerful. A human head was nothing more than a fragile watermelon before an Alien. In other words, if Zero’s shot missed, regardless of whether the bullet hit a person, the sheer force of the Alien’s tongue alone would be enough to instantly kill anyone near it.

Zheng Zha continued with a grimace, “It was pure luck that I managed to catch that long tongue by surprise and cut it off. It was embedded in Zhan Lan’s shoulder at the time, which is why I could hit it easily. If it had been a head-on confrontation, the tongue would have shot out too fast for us to even react.”

Chu Xuan nodded. “The Alien tongue’s ejection speed is terrifying, almost equivalent to the muzzle velocity of a handgun round. And we have to factor in its mass and size; even ordinary steel plating might not stop that impact. In summary... we must proceed with the plan to isolate the Alien first, then clear a path connecting us to the armory. Perhaps we can find suitable weaponry there.”

Zheng Zha sighed and asked, “So how do you plan to isolate the Alien? By sending someone to act as bait?” Chu Xuan ate while casually pressing buttons on the control platform. Moments later, a map of the entire ship’s corridor system appeared on the large screen, with important rooms and connecting passages marked by numbers.

“We are at position twenty-seven. Based on my calculations and the direction the Alien took the four humans, the Alien Queen’s location should be in... Warehouse One or Two. The monitoring systems around there have failed, probably corroded by the Alien’s secretions. I recall from the movie Alien 4 that when the Alien Queen lays eggs, she secretes a substance similar to spider silk; these substances are also acidic, though not as potent as Alien blood.”

“Because of that, the isolation walls, monitoring systems, and even the lighting equipment in that vicinity cannot be used. The areas where we can deploy isolation walls are in rooms numbered sixteen and beyond... I’ve marked them on the map. Green indicates areas where isolation walls are functional.”

Chu Xuan kept manipulating the controls while speaking. Soon, the entire map began to display an overlay of green and red areas.

Everyone focused on the large screen. The green area covered the vast majority of the ship, while the red zone was confined to rooms one through fifteen.

Chu Xuan let out a sigh. “Everyone probably thinks the Alien’s corrosive range only extends to room fifteen, which still leaves a fair distance to the armory in room seventeen, so you feel relieved, right? But I must deliver some unfortunate news: Rooms sixteen and seventeen lie on opposite sides of room fifteen. In other words, we cannot lower the isolation wall connecting room seventeen to room fifteen. The circuitry there is likely corroded beyond repair. If we try to access weapons, the Aliens in room fifteen can freely hunt us because we cannot isolate them.”

“This is precisely why the bait plan must be executed. We must lure all four non-Queen Aliens into the corridor past room seventeen, and then isolate them one by one. Only then can we find a safe route to the armory in room seventeen. I’ve said it before: I will not casually waste human lives. Although this plan carries extreme risk, it is crucial to our survival in this horror movie. This plan cannot tolerate any deviation.”

Zheng Zha stared at the intersecting red and green on the screen for a long time before sighing and asking, “What if only one or two Aliens come? Wouldn’t that be both dangerous and insufficient to complete the plan?” Chu Xuan smiled but remained silent. Instead, Zhan Lan, sitting next to Zheng Zha, spoke up. “Actually, there is a way to lure all the Aliens over... Remember how they chased us? How did they know where we were? And why did they pursue us so relentlessly... It was scent.”

Zheng Zha suddenly realized, “Right, scent. Alien blood carries a potent odor. Once other Aliens smell that scent, they rush over immediately. You mean we should use that scent to attract them?” Chu Xuan nodded. “We still have six grenades here. Grouping three together creates enough explosive power to injure a mature Alien. If we manage to wound one and make it bleed, the others will converge rapidly. As soon as they step into the corridor past room seventeen, we can quickly isolate them, and Li Shuaixi can escape into the safe zone under the cover of the explosion. That is the entirety of the bait plan.”

Although dangerous, it was not an absolute death sentence. Zheng Zha finally let out a breath of relief. Meanwhile, Li Shuaixi, who had been sitting silently nearby with his head bowed, now had a fierce, malevolent glint flashing in his eyes. He clenched his fists tightly while keeping his head down, not even noticing his fingernails digging into his flesh. Drops of blood fell onto the floor, vividly and hideously dark.
