"Yes." Luo Feng wasted no time, accelerating into a streak of light. After navigating a turn, a massive, exquisitely crafted gate loomed ahead. The gate was an incongruous blend of gold and cyan, imbued with an aura of nobility that would instinctively make countless beings feel inferior and hesitant to enter.
Luo Feng and the Lord of the Insect Cluster were resolute, pushing against the gate almost simultaneously.
Rumble!
The gate swung open.
"The control room!" Pushing inward, they found themselves in a vast, breathtakingly beautiful hall. The floor was strewn with various ornaments, and the walls were hung with more decorations.
"Boom!"
The moment Luo Feng entered, he unleashed a torrent of divine power threads without hesitation, sending them wildly surging toward every direction within the grand hall. A flicker of obsession danced in his eyes: Though Luo Feng couldn't identify the control core, he knew the Tomb Ship was perfectly preserved, untouched by external decay. Therefore, he could imprint his life imprint on everything, verifying each item instantly!
"I don't need to know which one is the control core, because I will attempt to claim ownership of everything," Luo Feng said, glancing at the Lord of the Insect Cluster nearby.
The Lord of the Insect Cluster, upon entering, had been intently discerning which item was the control core.
Seeing Luo Feng scatter his divine power so indiscriminately, he couldn't help but exclaim, "Galaxy Master, what are you doing scattering your divine power like this?"
"What do you think?" Luo Feng chuckled. "My insight is inferior to yours, Lord of the Insect Cluster, so I have to resort to this crude method."
"This is the Tomb Ship. Do you think claiming ownership of the control core is as simple as imprinting a life imprint? That easy?" The Lord of the Insect Cluster sneered playfully. "Haha, I neglected to tell you earlier—the real method to claim ownership of the control core!"
Luo Feng's expression shifted slightly.
He was gone.
Even claiming ownership of Ultimate Treasures was complex; the control core of the Tomb Ship was likely even more intricate.
"Do you know why I sought your alliance? Besides the two reasons I already mentioned, the third is... those individuals from the First Cycle Era possess greater knowledge. Perhaps one of them knows the method for claiming ownership of the control core," the Lord of the Insect Cluster mocked. "They are my greatest enemies! Go ahead, try to find the control core and claim ownership if you dare. I absolutely will not interfere."
Even as he spoke, the Lord of the Insect Cluster was rapidly conducting his own investigation.
"He truly held something back," Luo Feng thought grimly, though this was all within his expectations.
"Since it’s hard to find, then..." Luo Feng swiftly made a decision. He focused the majority of his attention on the Lord of the Insect Cluster, scrutinizing his expressions and demeanor to gauge the target.
The Lord of the Insect Cluster wore a look of playful mockery, leisurely searching for the control core. Soon, he had scanned everything in the entire control room hall, causing his expression to change slightly. He then proceeded to examine every single item in the hall in even greater detail before his face dramatically paled.
"How is this possible!"
"How can it not be here?"
"The control core, how is it not in the control room? Impossible!" The Lord of the Insect Cluster showed a flash of anger; it seemed all his schemes had instantly come to naught, causing him immense distress.
After all, the value of the Tomb Ship was nearly equivalent to that of an Ultimate Treasure.
Its indestructibility alone placed it just below Ultimate Treasure palaces... Combined with its ability to access Tombs, even the Lord of the Insect Cluster had only obtained one treasure better than the Tomb Ship in countless ages—his Insect Cluster God Armor. To have the Tomb Ship within his grasp only to lose it now... how could he not be enraged?
"Lord of the Insect Cluster, I fear you have miscalculated," Luo Feng murmured with a light laugh. "This control core may not be in the control room."
"What do you know!" The Lord of the Insect Cluster snorted coldly. "The control room is where the master of the Tomb Ship resides. That ancient, powerful civilization had a strict hierarchy. This control room belongs to the master, holding supreme status; other powerful beings dare not trespass. You could tell from the previous gate... and the control core has always been placed in the control room. That is the convention!"
"Convention? How many Tomb Ships have you actually seen?" Luo Feng shook his head and smiled.
Suddenly—
"Hmm?" Luo Feng's expression flickered, and he turned his head toward the distant entrance gate behind him.
The Lord of the Insect Cluster also turned to look.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Four streaks of light burst through the gate almost simultaneously.
"Hmph." The Lord of the Insect Cluster's face changed.
"Hahaha, Lord of the Insect Cluster, weren't you trying to stop us? But this is, after all, a massive vessel with numerous passages. There is more than one path leading to the core chamber," the Lord of the Sea of Carrion of the Skeleton race chuckled, his voice filled with ridicule.
"And it seems the Lord of the Insect Cluster hasn't obtained the control core yet," the Lord of the Witchcraft Shadow remarked.
"Hurry and search," the Lord of Shadow Ashes urged.
The Lord of Flowing Nine remained silent, swiftly beginning his search for the control core.
"Hmph." The Lord of the Witchcraft Shadow let out a cold snort, then suddenly swung his arm violently. Countless droplets of golden blood scattered into the air, each separating into smaller drops that landed on every component of the hall.
"The God-Eye Race... truly lives up to its name; you even know this method of verification," the Lord of the Insect Cluster sneered.
"Did you think only your Holy Land Universes know such things?" the Lord of the Witchcraft Shadow retorted coldly, only to have his face change immediately. "How can there be nothing?"
The God-Eye Race was, after all, the foremost power among the Three Great Cycle Eras, nearly on par with the two Holy Land Universes. At the Universe Master level, the God-Eye Race was weaker. But at the level of the Universe's Strongest, the God-Eye Race was stronger than both Holy Land Universes. The intelligence gathered by the God-Eye Race over nearly three Great Cycle Eras was indeed vast, and they knew a great deal.
These blood drops were a method to verify the control core. Once verified, one could proceed to claim ownership, which was a more complex process.
"Nothing! There is no control core!" The Lord of Shadow Ashes also looked shocked. "How can this be?"
"Could it be that the Lord of the Insect Cluster obtained it?" The Lord of the Sea of Carrion’s eyes burned with frenzied flames.
"If I had obtained it, would I still be standing here foolishly?" the Lord of the Insect Cluster laughed coldly.
"Strange."
"Why is there no control core?"
The six great experts stood dispersed throughout the hall, all gripped by utter confusion.
"Roar~~~" A wave of invisible energy suddenly descended.
The Lord of the Insect Cluster, Luo Feng, the Lord of Shadow Ashes, the Lord of the Witchcraft Shadow, the Lord of the Sea of Carrion, and the Lord of Flowing Nine—all six turned their heads toward the front, toward the high ceiling of the control room hall... where an ancient throne rested. At this moment, the invisible energy converged upon the throne, gradually forming a vague silhouette, which finally sharpened into clarity.
It was a seemingly ordinary human male.
Two eyes, a nose, a mouth... two hands, two legs, black eyes, yellow skin, and hair that shimmered cyan.
"Very much like a human."
"Also like the most common members of the Purple Moon Holy Land."
"Not the slightest bit of pressure..."
Luo Feng and the other five stared in shock at the hazy figure.
The cyan-haired man seated upon the throne wore simple armor intricately patterned with stripes. At first glance, the armor resembled an endless, surging river. He looked down upon them, his eyes cold and sharp, then spoke: "My name is... Duan Donghe * Wu!"
This sent a tremor of shock through Luo Feng and the other five.
"Wu? 'Wu' is an extremely honored title in that ancient civilization. To have 'Wu' appended to one's name... that position must be extraordinary," the Lord of Shadow Ashes observed solemnly.
"I know some things, but only a little. Better not to speak of it. If the experts of the ancient civilization knew, they'd likely mock you," the Lord of the Insect Cluster sneered, glancing at him.
"Hmph." The Lord of Shadow Ashes shot the Lord of the Insect Cluster a cold look.
The cyan-haired man on the throne seemed oblivious to the situation below, continuing coldly, "Juniors from the endless cycle eras, by the time you see me, I have been fallen for countless cycle eras. I embarked on this final adventure with my General, knowing the chance of survival was slim."
"As expected..."
"This path is the most arduous road. Even the most powerful vessels, even the brave and mighty experts, ultimately failed."
"When I foresaw failure, I did not wish for my legacy to cease."
"I, Duan Donghe * Wu! Am the 192nd Duan Donghe! And the sole successor... Ancestors across generations all died in battle; the inheritance has passed down through me for unknown ages. If I perish... the legacy ends with me. I would be ashamed before my ancestors. This Tomb Ship has been modified by me; it is not an ordinary Tomb Ship. Within this Tomb Ship... there are additional perilous inheritance grounds."
"I can die."
"But the inheritance of the successive generations of Duan Donghe must not be severed!"
"If you feel fear, you may leave now. Otherwise, once you step onto this path, it will become increasingly dangerous! Especially at the end... when you touch upon the true inheritance of my Duan Donghe lineage, only the recipient of the inheritance can survive, or perhaps none of you can accept it, and you will all perish!"
"Leaving sooner is safer. Leaving later, especially after touching even a sliver of the inheritance... any being who is not of the Duan Donghe lineage, yet covets the inheritance of my line, shall surely die!"
"Make your choice, juniors."
The voice faded, and the figure on the throne vanished.
For a moment, the entire hall became heavy with suppression. The six present shared expressions ranging from madness, excitement, to apprehension.
Inheritance!
The true inheritance!
Why were the Seven True Lords of the God-Eye Race so powerful? It was because the God-Eye Race had obtained a complete inheritance from an ancient ruin, allowing the seven True Lords to unleash immense power when they joined forces... Thus, in the Sea of Universe, the most precious thing was undoubtedly this complete inheritance that allowed cultivation from low to high levels!
And this inheritance... was from the Duan Donghe lineage?
It sounded as if the Duan Donghe lineage was an exceptionally formidable branch within that ancient, powerful civilization, with only one successor per generation. The fact that his name could carry the character 'Wu'... and that he could even modify a Tomb Ship, plus the tone in which he mentioned setting out on this quest with a 'General'—that General was likely a general from a Universe Ship, and his status must have been extremely high.
Clearly—
The inheritance of the Duan Donghe lineage was immensely valuable.
Duan Donghe himself was willing to die to preserve the inheritance! An inheritance with an unfathomable, ancient history... perhaps previous generations of Duan Donghe were even stronger than this current one. Therefore, one could not judge the inheritance based solely on the strength of 'Duan Donghe * Wu'; perhaps there were even deeper levels of the inheritance that this current Duan Donghe had not managed to cultivate to.
Regardless, one thing was certain: the inheritance of the Duan Donghe lineage was absolutely the most precious inheritance.
However, once one stepped onto this path, the outcome was terrifying.
Once even a trace of the inheritance was touched...
"Either accept the complete inheritance, or die!"
