The nearer the objective, the more indistinctly Jun Wu Yi felt an inexplicable sense of gain and loss.
No time to delay!
Jun Mo Xie immediately set off to find Tang Yuan. If that medicine had been wasted by the fatty, finding it again might take a great deal of effort; the longer this matter was dragged out, the more likely unforeseen complications would arise.
Shivering slightly as he sat in the sedan chair, Young Master Jun San arrived at the Tang residence looking sickly and utterly weak. Just as he reached the main gate, he saw a perfectly round, oversized ball of flesh rolling out with a rumble. Clad in a robe the color of raw meat, Young Master Tang Yuan’s attire today was truly distinctive. If it were just a few sizes smaller, one might mistake him for a four-joy meatball ready to be served up on a platter…
“Third Young Master, what brings you here? Have you fully recovered? You’re not here to tease your brother, are you?!” Tang Yuan looked at Jun Mo Xie with genuine delight shining in his expression.
“I’ve come for you,” Jun Mo Xie lifted the sedan curtain. “What, are you heading out?”
“Indeed, I was just about to go play at Shengbao Hall. They have some genuinely fine items there today. The Old Master told me to go and bid on one particular thing.” Tang Yuan reached into his chest and with a shwa produced a thick stack of banknotes, clapping them together so they rustled loudly. He grinned, his face transforming into that of the Laughing Buddha: “I’m officially on an errand this time. Look at this thick pile! After I secure that item, I reckon there will still be quite a bit left over. Third Young Master, shall we head to Qianjin Hall for a couple of rounds afterward?”
“You’re not betting on wives again, are you?” Jun Mo Xie curled his lip dismissively.
“Ah, Third Young Master, if you’re my brother, don't bring that up,” A few dark lines actually appeared on Tang Yuan’s perfectly round face. “That was a setup! Under normal circumstances, I’d be the reincarnation of the God of Gamblers; that’s absolutely no exaggeration!”
“If I could trust that rotten mouth of yours, I’d rather believe in ghosts!” Jun Mo Xie scoffed. Then, his expression hardening, he ignored Tang Yuan’s instant look of wronged bitterness, which resembled a bitter gourd, and cut straight to the chase: “Don’t rush off. I have something important for you this time.”
“What is it? There’s nothing my brother and I can’t talk about!” Tang Yuan blinked his eyes.
“I heard you bought three stalks of Nine-Leaf Grass from Jinxiang Pharmacy? My injury needs that exact thing right now. Hurry up, hand it over!” Jun Mo Xie demanded brazenly, opening his mouth for the acquisition.
“Who told you that? That’s a blatant, dark injustice! You know how much I despise those weeds and leaves!” All of Tang Yuan’s abundant fat trembled with agitation, his fleshy face turning bright red. “When have I ever even seen such a thing? Nine-Leaf Grass, Seven-Leaf Grass—I have no idea what you’re talking about!”
Jun Mo Xie’s face darkened. “Tang Yuan, you don’t know? I went out of my way to speak with you, and you tell me you don’t know? Do you still want that jade and that sword? Damn it, I’ll toss them straight into the cesspit!”
“I truly don’t know!” Tang Yuan jumped up in his panic, a move that presented a monumental challenge for him. Biting his teeth, he gestured wildly to the heavens and earth, swearing an oath: “Big Brother, I wouldn’t dare lie to you! Whoever knows about those things is a turtle’s son and a bastard… wait? Jinxiang Merchant House?!”
Having just finished his oath, he suddenly jolted, his eyes widening, and he shouted: “Damn it, Third Young Master, did you just say Jinxiang Merchant House?”
“Are you deaf?!” Jun Mo Xie grunted twice, glancing at him sideways, trying to figure out what trick the fatty was pulling. Although, outwardly, he didn’t look like the type to pull any schemes.
“That’s our family’s property!” Tang Yuan’s jaw muscles twitched, his small eyes circling wildly. “Holy hell! In my entire life, I’ve only ever bought medicine once! And that was for you! It was five days ago when I cleaned out our own pharmacy and sent everything over to your estate…”
As he spoke, Tang Yuan slapped his thigh. “Coincidentally, quite a few fresh herbs had just arrived that day. I didn’t know exactly what they were, but the shopkeeper said everything was top-grade, so I just packed it all up together, stuffed it into crates, and hauled it all over to you. If there was any of that Nine-Leaf Grass or Seven-Leaf Grass, then it’s at your place.”
“Huh?!” Jun Mo Xie’s eyes immediately widened, stammering: “That day you only sent over that… that thing they call a 'Hundred-Catty Hang'?”
“Brother, have you got water in your brain?” Tang Yuan painfully rolled his eyelids and shot him a look of disdain. “Even when giving away good stuff, you have to conceal your intent, right? I sent two large crates in total! The top layer was filled with genuine medicinal materials like Ginseng, Angelica Root, and Poria—and all of them were fresh! The good stuff, like the 'Hundred-Catty Hang,' was at the bottom! I was about to say so that day, but your Old Master scolded me out! For the past few days, I’ve been worried that those items might have molded or grown hair inside! That quality stuff—if you weren’t my brother, I wouldn’t have given it away so easily…”
Finishing his explanation, Fatty Tang summarized: “Therefore, I have no grass, but you do.”
Jun Mo Xie stumbled, nearly falling right out of the sedan chair. After a long pause, only two words squeezed out from between his teeth: “I… damn it!”
Instantly losing all interest in bickering with Tang Yuan, Jun Mo Xie urgently wanted to rush back. If that stuff had actually molded in the crates, it would be a disaster! This fatty really knew how to cause trouble!
Tang Yuan grabbed him. “What’s the rush, Third Young Master? You just recovered from a major illness, and it’s rare for you to come out. Come to the auction with me. I heard there are many treasures today! It would be great for us brothers to go clean them out.” As he spoke, he pulled a piece of paper from his chest, moistened a finger with saliva, and unfolded it, pointing with a finger as red as a water radish: “Look, look! There’s also Mingguang Jade Pendants, Glazed Flowers, and Deep-Sea Jade Coral… these are all fantastic items.”
“I don’t have time to indulge your nonsense…” Jun Mo Xie shrank back, intending to retreat into the sedan chair. But before he finished speaking, and halfway through his retreat, his eyes suddenly snapped wide open. He choked out two 'uh-uh' sounds like a hen whose neck had been caught, then abruptly changed his tone: “Fine! Let’s go take a look! Our brothers will go clean them out!”
Saying this, he immediately instructed a guard to return home at once and notify someone to carefully unpack and arrange all the items from Tang Yuan’s two crates. He also ordered them to bring plenty of banknotes to Shengbao Hall.
Because, Young Master Jun San had shockingly discovered, on the final few lines of the auction item list, there was an entry—the Sutra-Burning Lotus!
Damn it! This was truly… looking everywhere for something only to find it without effort! Jun Mo Xie cursed inwardly with excitement!
Shengbao Hall.
This was a place that could drive the majority of the nobility in the Tianxiang Kingdom into a frenzy! It was also a consumption venue for the truly high-tier aristocracy.
It was the largest auction house in the Tianxiang Kingdom, yet it was far more than just an auction house.
Aside from the rarest treasures that one might encounter only once in a lifetime, if you could think of it, they had it!
As long as you had enough money!
Money could command ghosts, and it could also communicate with the divine!
This fundamental truth was equally applicable in his previous life as it was in this one!
Food, drink, entertainment, necessities, tools for killing, instruments for robbery, pelts of Xuan Beasts, high-grade Xuan Pills, top-tier divine weapons and sharp implements, exquisite decorations, and even male and female slaves…
There was simply too much! Only what you couldn't imagine, but nothing you couldn't find!
Once you stepped into Shengbao Hall, no matter how luxurious your original life was or how wealthy you were, you would realize that you were still lacking so much! You would find that there were still so many experiences you hadn't tried! You would realize how impoverished your spiritual and material lives truly were!
As a result, unless they spent every last copper coin in their pockets, most people would be reluctant to leave!
