As Su Chan watched these little foxes line up, preparing to launch into the folk tunes "The Little Widow's Tomb Visit" and "Wang Erjie Longs for Her Husband"—a truly harmonious pairing—her head began to throb. She secretly regretted her decision: one must not casually mobilize the masses! Now look at this mess!
Just as she was at a loss for what to do, a fire-engine-red Lamborghini roared up to the teahouse. A stunning woman in a black uniform and short skirt leaped out of the car. Before even stepping inside, she bellowed, "Li Yundong, get out here!"
Su Chan squinted, then exclaimed in surprise, "Wait, isn't that President Cao Kefei?"
Su Chan rushed to stop the little foxes who were about to sing their ditties, turning towards Cao Kefei as if greeting a savior. "Oh, President Cao, what brings you here? Quick, come in, come right in!"
Cao Kefei paused, momentarily taken aback by Su Chan's unusual enthusiasm, and casually asked, "Where is Li Yundong? Where is he? Tell him to come out now, that scoundrel has gone too far!"
Su Chan ushered Cao Kefei inside and sat her down, enthusiastically pouring her tea. "President Cao, what has Yundong done to you?"
Cao Kefei scanned the teahouse, clearly searching for Li Yundong. She angrily declared, "Need I even say? Last night he absolutely wore me out! He just bolted without saying a word. Does he think I'm just air to him? Show up when he pleases, leave when he wishes?"
Cao Kefei was speaking without thinking, and the little foxes exchanged suggestive glances, looking at Su Chan with knowing eyes: "Oh! So the sect leader went out to sample the goods?"
Although Su Chan knew this wasn't true, a knot formed in her stomach, and she chided lightly, "President Cao, what kind of things are you saying?"
Cao Kefei snapped back to reality. She smacked her forehead and smiled apologetically at Su Chan. "I'm sorry, I was just furious! Last time, Li Yundong had me pretend to be injured and lie in the hospital—he said it was to draw out the real culprit! But look at him: the villain was caught, but his spirit bolted. His body just sat there like a wooden statue for ages! Once he finally came to his senses, he ran off again without a word! I can't even get through to him on his mobile. What is going on?"
Saying this, Cao Kefei grew agitated again, standing up and peering around. "Where is Li Yundong? Make him come out immediately and give me an explanation and an accounting! What kind of situation is this!"
Only then did Su Chan understand the reason for Cao Kefei's angry visit. She quickly smiled and said, "President Cao, Yundong left early this morning."
Cao Kefei snapped back angrily, "Is he hiding from me? Am I that frightening?"
Su Chan quickly offered a placating smile and roughly explained yesterday's events, though she omitted mentioning their true identities.
After hearing the whole story, Cao Kefei's anger subsided. She slowly sat down and sighed softly, "So I was being unreasonable. I didn't realize so much had happened."
Su Chan brought the teacup closer to Cao Kefei and said with a bright smile, "Yes, Yundong went out early precisely so Yan Fang wouldn't come back to harm you again."
Although Cao Kefei felt confused as to why this Yan Fang would want to kill her when she held no grudge against her, she took the cup, downed the tea in one gulp, and asked curiously, "Did you report this incident to the police?"
Su Chan shook her head. "As you should know, President Cao, we are not ordinary people. We are cultivators. Matters concerning cultivators must be resolved within the cultivation world; we cannot involve the secular realm."
Cao Kefei sighed dramatically. "When I first saw Li Yundong, I sensed he wasn't ordinary. Now it seems... this rogue, he truly is no ordinary man!"
Su Chan poured more tea for Cao Kefei and smiled, saying, "When I first laid eyes on him, I certainly didn't think he was anything special."
Cao Kefei chuckled, giving Su Chan a meaningful look. Gazing at Su Chan's youthful and beautiful face, she suddenly felt an inexplicable pang of sourness in her heart. She thought: Why did Heaven make me cross paths with that nemesis, Li Yundong? This damned rogue appears and disappears like smoke. He shows up when I need help, and when I don't, he vanishes without a trace. Damn him, truly damn him!
Dwelling on this, Cao Kefei couldn't help but feel resentful again. She looked around and asked, "So, is today your grand opening? And Li Yundong isn't even here on his first official day? He just dumps this whole enterprise into your laps? That's too much!"
Upon hearing this, a thought sparked in Su Chan's mind. Right, President Cao is a business titan; she surely has a solution, and whatever she suggests will surely be smarter than ours!
Su Chan immediately asked, "Speaking of which, President Cao, we are truly worried. Since opening, not a single customer has walked in! I’m stressing so much my hair is turning white! Please, give us some advice!"
Cao Kefei’s mind was still occupied with her nemesis Li Yundong, so she replied casually, "It’s actually quite simple. Your teahouse has excellent physical facilities, but the software is lacking, which is why customers aren't coming."
Su Chan blinked, asking, "What is 'software facility'?"
Seeing that Su Chan had finally shifted her focus and wasn't asking them little foxes for advice, the others breathed a collective sigh of relief and crowded around, eagerly looking at Cao Kefei, waiting for her solution.
As if not noticing them, Cao Kefei said nonchalantly, "It's the service, of course. If you just sit here looking pretty, customers won't naturally walk in! The hardware of this shop is on the level of the Shangri-La hotel, but the software... that's far too low! It needs to match the Shangri-La standard!"
Su Chan was somewhat baffled. Though she didn't fully grasp it, she finally understood one core message from Cao Kefei: We need to attract customers!
But, but how does one attract customers?
Su Chan wanted to ask more, but Cao Kefei seemed miles away, lost in thought. She swallowed her question, feeling too awkward to disturb her again.
However, the little girl pondered for a moment, still not understanding the meaning, so she turned to consult the other little foxes.
"Hey, what does Shangri-La mean?" Su Chan whispered.
The little foxes looked at each other, completely stumped, unable to answer her question. Only Ling Yue dared to speak up tentatively. "Does it mean enthusiastically pulling customers inside?"
Su Chan stared blankly for a moment. Before she could reply, the other little foxes nodded, pretending to understand: "Yes, that's very likely!"
"That makes sense!"
Su Chan felt something was off, but since she couldn't think of a better plan, she turned back and quietly probed Cao Kefei again. "President Cao, what does Shangri-La mean?"
Cao Kefei hadn't heard Su Chan clearly at all. Her mind was elsewhere, and she replied nonsensically, "Yes, business requires enthusiasm and initiative!"
Su Chan suddenly realized: Oh, Shangri-La means enthusiastically pulling customers inside?
Having grasped this interpretation, Su Chan turned back and instructed Ling Yue, "Go to the door and do the Shangri-La!"
Ling Yue immediately went pale. She stared, pointing a finger at her own nose, "Me?"
Su Chan narrowed her eyes. "Of course, who else would go?"
Ling Yue looked aggrieved, glancing at the other little foxes. "Why not them?"
The other little foxes immediately distanced themselves from her. "You said that's what Shangri-La means, so naturally, you should go!"
Ling Yue felt utterly wronged. "Why does everything fall on me!"
Seeing this, Su Chan quickly tried to soothe her. "Alright, alright. When Yundong gets back, I’ll ask him to give you extra spending money."
Ling Yue huffed, "I want double!"
Su Chan’s face stiffened. "We haven't even had one customer yet, and you're already haggling! If you don't bring anyone in, I'll fine you double!"
Ling Yue cursed inwardly, but the boss's status and authority were not to be trifled with. What if she complained to the boss later? Ling Yue dared not argue further and stomped sulkily to the entrance, muttering under her breath.
As she reached the doorway, she saw a middle-aged man in a smart suit peering curiously into the teahouse. Ling Yue was instantly delighted and rushed over with quick, light steps, saying in a saccharine voice, "Esteemed guest, would you like to come in for a cup of tea?"
The man was startled. He noticed Ling Yue's exceptional beauty, compounded by a captivating, foxy allure that ordinary women lacked. His heart immediately began to pound, and he stammered, "G-guest?"
Ling Yue quickly corrected herself. "Sir, would you like a cup of tea?"
The little fox's sweet voice melted the man's bones a little further. He asked foolishly, "H-how much is a cup of tea?"
Ling Yue had no idea! She spun around and shouted towards Su Chan, "Boss, how much is a cup of tea?"
Su Chan was also stumped. It was her first day running the teahouse; she didn't even know the price of a cup of tea, let alone the variety of teas they even stocked!
Seeing that one customer showed signs of interest, Su Chan dared not miss this chance for a grand opening. She scurried out, smiling sweetly. "It's very cheap, come in and have a couple of cups!"
As soon as she ran out, the other little foxes followed, all chiming in, "That's right, come in for a cup!"
When the man saw so many young and beautiful girls pouring out of the teahouse—each unique, yet all peerless beauties—he was instantly frightened. He thought: Good heavens, a teahouse with this many top-tier beauties? How much would a cup of tea cost here? Will I go bankrupt? Forget it, I can't face my wife if I spend all my money. I had better leave quickly!
But despite thinking this, how many men possessed the willpower to truly turn and walk away gracefully from such a sea of dazzling beauty?
The man had half-turned, but his feet seemed rooted to the spot; he couldn't move an inch.
Seeing this, Su Chan quickly signaled the other little foxes. They understood, and one after another, they giggled, "Guest, come in for a cup of tea!" Then, working together, they gently pulled and ushered the man inside.
Surrounded by so many little fox spirits, the man's reactions and intelligence plummeted. He stumbled in, dazed, as he was pulled along.
Cao Kefei, sitting in the main hall, finally came back to her senses upon hearing the commotion. She watched as the group of little foxes nearly carried a man inside, who kept craning his neck backward, his eyes full of panic and unease, yet his feet involuntarily followed where he was being dragged, his steps unsteady, as if treading on clouds!
Cao Kefei was startled. Only after Su Chan and the others had ushered the guest to a seat on the second floor did she catch Su Chan's attention, calling her over and whispering, "Hey, what in the world are you doing?"
Su Chan blinked innocently and countered, confused, "We're soliciting customers."
Cao Kefei was aghast, stammering, "This—this is soliciting customers?"
Su Chan giggled, "Didn't you say it? That we needed Shangri-La, which means enthusiastically pulling customers in, right?"
Cao Kefei nearly collapsed. Is that what Shangri-La means? Where did that meaning even come from? And besides, even if it did mean that, is this Shangri-La? This is just forcefully dragging people in!
