Then Cheng Ying said again, "Look, your suitor, knowing you're married, actually came over here to give me a hard look. Did I say anything? Haven't I always refrained from asking you? You handled it yourself, right? I know this isn't your fault, but you have to understand me too."

Chi Wu’s anger stemmed precisely from this: "If you aren't angry, it's because you never cared about me. If I'm angry, it's because I have always cared about you. Why did that woman know I had a wife? Because when I'm out, I dare to say it, I'm willing to share: I have a home, I have a wife. Why didn't that person know about you, your husband, and your child? Because you never mentioned the existence of the three of us."

At this point, Chi Wu became agitated; the more he thought about it, the more it felt true.

Cheng Ying was almost convinced by Chi Wu’s logic; it was indeed the case. It wasn't that she refused to speak of it, but that there was never an opportunity, nor did anyone ask her directly.

Then she paused. "Wait a minute. Didn't he not ask me? And him chasing me right to our home—wasn't that done without my consent?"

Chi Wu's expression turned cold. "If you had consulted me beforehand, you wouldn't have let him come to the house, would you?"

Then he truly erupted in anger and slammed the door before leaving.

Cheng Ying blinked. This really was Chi Yong’s son; he'd even learned to storm out by slamming doors. He couldn't be spoiled this much.

She tossed aside the wilting flowers in her hand—all wretched things causing trouble. It turned out that flirting, especially for a married woman, was something that shouldn't be entertained casually. It was too heartbreaking.

As Chi Wu left, he didn't forget to take the children with him. Anger aside, Sunday still required taking them to their grandparents' house, or the old lady wouldn't let him off the hook.

Chi Wu was thoroughly annoyed. What kind of mess was this? He remembered that he was supposed to drive his wife to and from work. Who couldn't put a label on someone?

If Cheng Ying wouldn't speak up, why couldn't he speak up? Chi Wu felt foolish, outmaneuvered by one move.

Cheng Ying listened to the sound of the car leaving and watched the father and sons depart briskly. With resignation, she started dressing and tidying the house. With her husband and children gone, if she didn't put on a good show now, this Sunday would be unbearable.

Although Chi Wu was angry with Cheng Ying, he treated the two children well; the key was that these two little ancestors were people he couldn't afford to provoke.

Chi Yong and Yang Zhi were at the elder Mr. Chi’s house. When they saw Chi Wu arrive with the two children, they asked, "Is Yingzi working overtime?"

Before Chi Wu could speak, the two unlucky children piped up. "Mom and Dad had a fight," said Yaya, children being notorious for mimicking.

Chi Shuo, following behind, added, "Very loudly."

Chi Yong had thinned considerably lately; it was clear he hadn't been in good spirits. Seeing Chi Wu return with the children reminded him of his own unspeakable past. "You brought the kids back. You should go back quickly; this path won't work."

This was advice born of experience; he himself was still under probation.

Chi Yong felt he could foresee his son’s miserable future. Couldn't he see his living example? Chi Yong knew better than anyone how his own son had managed to secure that girl; Chi Wu was surely being utterly dominated.

Chi Wu was in an extremely foul mood and ignored Chi Yong. Before turning his face away and entering the room, he told Yang Zhi that the two children hadn't eaten yet and asked what they wanted. Then he turned and left.

Yang Zhi was quite worried about the young couple. "Wu Zi didn't really fight with Ying Zi, did he?"

Chi Wu looked at Yang Zhi. With his current demeanor, the answer was obvious. How could she even ask? "Don't worry, Grandma. What do the children know? They just blabbered."

Well, those words felt terribly dishonest.

But Yang Zhi believed him. "It’s good you aren't angry. Grandma will go make you something to eat."

The two children nearby frowned and pouted. They had just spoken up, hadn't they? Were they not angry then? Why did it change to 'not angry'?

Yang Zhi pulled the two precious grandsons—truly precious grandsons, spoiled far more than her own son. "You two shouldn't speak nonsense next time. Come on, Grandma will make you something delicious."

Elder Mr. Chi sized up his grandsons. "What kind of man is this? Just like your father, useless. What man gets angry and runs away from home with the children? People might think this is our family tradition—father and son with the same flaw."

Chi Yong couldn't deny it; it was dark history.

The old man’s words were perhaps too harsh. Elder Mrs. Chi tugged his sleeve from behind, dissatisfied. "That’s because their family has issues! What issues? The mother and son together—they push the man to come home carrying the children. Why don't you say that?"

Elder Mr. Chi stared at his wife, astonished. "You can actually say that?"

Elder Mrs. Chi looked at Chi Wu. "Why shouldn't I say it? If you talk about Chi Yong and Yang Zhi, it was Chi Yong’s fault. But when it comes to our Wu Zi, it must be Ying Zi who is too domineering."

See? She was still his own grandmother. However, Chi Wu didn't feel comforted; no matter what others said, it didn't change the fact that Chi Wu was in a rather gloomy mood.

Chi Yong protested. "How can you discriminate against me like this? Isn't this unequal treatment? It's not fair! Am I not your son? I came home, returning with my grandson, and you treat me like this? But he gets to be considered upset?"

No one paid attention to Chi Yong. Elder Mr. Chi took out the best tea to entertain his grandson. Chi Yong muttered to himself, "Could it be that the two children he brought home were adopted, while I brought home one biological grandson? Is that why?"

This made Chi Yong, who considered himself an intellectual, utterly muddled. He couldn't figure out what was going on. He had never considered the possibility of him being a 'son-in-law taken in' because he had never witnessed Chi Wu being such an authoritative master of the house.

In the Cheng family, he was the ultimate authority. Who knew why the elder couple thought their Chi Wu was the one who would tolerate being wronged?

Yang Zhi led the two children into the kitchen but was soon commandeered by Elder Mrs. Chi. Regardless of whether the adults were fighting, no one was going to stop her from bonding with her great-grandchildren and dressing up their little princess, even though the loli was quite mischievous—a princess dress only made her a bandit princess. But the old lady wasn't afraid; she had nothing else to do all day but dress up her granddaughter.

Elder Mr. Chi knocked on his grandson's door. Harmony brings prosperity. He still needed to persuade him. If not for other reasons, then for the sake of the two little ones, the adults shouldn't be so quick to anger. "Wu Zi?"

Chi Wu looked out the window at the elder man. "Grandpa, you don't need to enlighten me. I'm just upset for a bit, and it will pass soon."

Elder Mr. Chi thought, He's quite sensible, isn't he? "Wu Zi, it's not that Grandpa is lecturing you, but you can't just get angry over nothing. Look at your father. Because of some petty anger, I realized that your father was just being jealous, and Ying Zi’s mother didn't properly acknowledge your father for over half a year. That's a lesson. We must learn from it."

Then he sighed. "Look at how hard your father had it during that time; even watching him was exhausting for Grandpa."

Chi Wu disdained his father's issues. He thought his father looked worn out from all his fussing, acting like a punching bag. Was he really that upset? Humph.

Chi Wu looked down as an SUV zipped by. Then his wife appeared, dressed quite beautifully. She opened the car door, glanced up at his window, and then waved enthusiastically.

Chi Wu’s mood improved considerably, and the corner of his mouth curved up. He snorted through his nose, "Hmph."

Elder Mr. Chi thought his grandson hadn't learned his lesson, but why was his mouth turning up so high? He walked over, glanced down, then looked back at Chi Wu. This was called being angry? These young people had no problems at all, judging by Ying Zi's attitude down there.

When Cheng Ying saw Chi Wu, she immediately composed herself. Unfortunately, no matter how she gestured, Chi Wu ignored her.

Just then, Elder Mr. Chi approached. Cheng Ying continued to wave. "Grandpa, are you home?"

The old man felt the morning was full of vitality. Looking at the vivacity of his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, he felt that life had drive and upward momentum.

He waved down. "Ying Zi is here! Hurry up and come in, we were just waiting for you!"

Chi Wu turned away, snorting again through his nose. Fine, Elder Mr. Chi decided not to bother his grandson.

He looked at Ying Zi. "You, don't be like your father-in-law. Don't refuse a kind gesture, or you’ll end up having to coax your wife later. What a waste of effort."

Chi Wu raised an eyebrow. Could he be compared to Chi Yong? He hadn't even stepped out of the room; why should he welcome her?

Elder Mr. Chi turned and left. His grandson was just waiting to stub his toe on a hard truth. He saw a ready-made textbook case and yet ignored it. Alas.

Cheng Ying pushed the door open and handed over large bags of items. "Grandma, Grandpa, see if these are suitable."

The old lady looked at her granddaughter-in-law and, to be honest, was slightly displeased, but that feeling vanished quickly. Her smile was too bright, and her attitude too pleasant. "Why bother with all this trouble? Having you here together makes us happy." She still managed to make the point.

Cheng Ying didn't think Chi Wu was the type to complain to his elders when they had a spat. But Cheng Ying didn't know how well her unlucky child could mimic speech. So she remained smiling sweetly. "It just happened to be a weekend, and I just got paid. Naturally, everyone should be happy."

Elder Mr. Chi said, "Ying Zi is the one who thinks of us."

The two children chimed in happily. "We want some too!"

Cheng Ying said, "Nothing for you two. Have you ever lacked anything? Go cause trouble elsewhere." Then she smiled at Chi Yong. "Dad, where is Mom? This is for you two. Wu Zi is upstairs, right? I told him to come to the mall with me to pick things out, but he insisted on bringing the kids over first. I picked out an electric shaver for him; I'll take it up and see if he likes it."

Saying that, Cheng Ying headed upstairs. In truth, she felt a bit guilty; otherwise, she wouldn't have needed to explain herself so meticulously.

Chi Yong pouted. "She acts so well."
