Li Yundong had absolutely no idea that the crowd in the small auditorium still remembered the air hostess incident so vividly; even after two months, they could still heckle him with such vigor!
"These bastards, really enjoying stirring up trouble, don't they ever get tired of it!" Li Yundong shot a glare at everyone present, especially sending huge, silent glares toward Feng Na and Cheng Cheng, who were laughing so hard they were nearly falling apart.
Usually, when these students saw Li Yundong, none of them dared to approach him to tease or flirt, because his aura was too strong, his legendary feats too numerous, making him seem like an unapproachable deity.
But at this moment, the students realized, without a doubt, that this guy was just a mortal like them!
Li Yundong was teased by the crowd for quite a while. Seeing Feng Na and Cheng Cheng on the verge of collapse from laughter, he couldn't help but say, "Hey, if you two keep laughing, I'm leaving!"
Feng Na rubbed her stomach, waving her hand in pain, groaning, "My stomach hurts, I'm laughing so hard my stomach aches, I can't breathe!"
Cheng Cheng was the same, gasping for air from laughing, clutching her stomach, her face contorted in discomfort.
Li Yundong shook his head, reached out, and gently patted Feng Na’s back twice. Instantly, Feng Na felt a warmth spread throughout her body, as if a warm current had surged from behind, smoothing out her breathing, and her laughter subsided.
Cheng Cheng, seeing Feng Na visibly improve, grabbed Li Yundong's arm, pointed at herself, her expression still smiling, but her eyes filled with pain, unable to speak.
Li Yundong followed suit, giving her back a light pat, which immediately helped her catch her breath.
Feng Na and Cheng Cheng finally managed to steady their breathing, clutching their chests, still shaken. They exchanged a look, and suddenly felt the urge to laugh again.
Li Yundong quickly threatened, "Hey, if you laugh again, I really am leaving! I won't care if you laugh yourselves to death!"
Feng Na barely managed to suppress her laughter and said to Li Yundong, "Look how popular you are. Good thing you aren't running for Student Union President, or I wouldn't stand a chance, would I?"
Li Yundong gave her a look: "With your scatterbrained ways, I think you might find being elected Student Union President a bit difficult!"
Feng Na laughed, "No, what just happened convinced me that I definitely can be elected Student Union President!"
Li Yundong chuckled, "If you manage to become Student Union President, setting aside everything else, I promise I’ll help you with your performance piece!"
Feng Na couldn't help but feign annoyance, "Oh really? So you planned to put in minimal effort?"
Li Yundong laughed, "Wrong. I planned to stand you up!"
Feng Na playfully cursed him, "You sly old fox, Li Yundong! Good thing I, your elder, am so brilliant and mighty, otherwise I'd be in tears!"
Just as Li Yundong was about to reply with a smile, his peripheral vision caught sight of two familiar figures entering the small auditorium.
Li Yundong turned his head and saw Ruan Hongling walking in, followed by Yan Hua, who maintained a constant, placating smile.
Ruan Hongling scanned the small auditorium as she entered, and her gaze landed on Li Yundong. She paused abruptly and quickly walked over.
Ruan Hongling glanced at Feng Na and Cheng Cheng standing next to Li Yundong, a subtle trace of hostility in her eyes, and lowered her voice, "What are you doing here?"
Although Li Yundong had his bumps and scrapes with this girl, it wasn't the place to fall out. He countered, "And what are you doing here?"
Ruan Hongling retorted with slight anger, "The Heavenly Tribulation is imminent. Shouldn't you be concentrating on your cultivation instead of hanging around here? Don't you know how much Sister Ziyuan has sacrificed for you?"
Li Yundong strongly disliked people meddling in his personal affairs. He felt a surge of displeasure and said, "There is a balance between work and rest; that is the Way of the Scholar and the Warrior. Haven't you heard of it?"
Ruan Hongling snapped, "You!"
Yan Hua, seeing Ruan Hongling and Li Yundong bickering, had a sudden thought—an opportunity to flatter someone had arrived. He immediately sidled up and sneered at Li Yundong, "Are you here to run for Student Union President as well?"
Li Yundong glanced at Yan Hua but didn't answer him. Instead, he turned back, smiling at Feng Na, "You have competition now!"
In front of outsiders, Feng Na maintained her very ladylike composure. She smiled slightly and politely asked Yan Hua, "Are you also participating in the Student Union President election?"
Seeing Feng Na speak politely to him, Yan Hua courteously turned around and replied, "Yes, you must be Senior Feng Na, right? I hope you can offer me guidance when the time comes!"
Feng Na noticed that although he was polite, there was an underlying air of superiority that he couldn't quite mask. She felt a little uncomfortable inwardly but still smiled sweetly, "Not at all. The latter wave washes over the former; the front wave dies on the sandbar. Junior, just try not to make my demise too miserable later on."
Yan Hua chuckled, his smile restrained, yet the aura of self-admiration was impossible to hide. He glanced at Li Yundong and couldn't resist a barb, "It seems some people have a good sense of self-awareness; they haven't entered the race for Student Union President. Otherwise, I would certainly teach them what the sky is and how thick the earth is!"
Before Li Yundong could get angry, Ruan Hongling let out a soft laugh from the side.
Ruan Hongling thought to herself: You are the one who truly doesn't know the immensity of heaven and earth. Li Yundong, despite being annoying, is at least a rising talent in cultivation with minor mystical abilities right now. What are you, barking around here all day?
However, she couldn't say these things out loud, so she could only offer a string of cold sneers from the side.
Yan Hua, seeing her cold laughter, mistook it for agreement with his words, becoming even more smug. He addressed Feng Na haughtily, "Senior, how is your campaign speech coming along?"
Feng Na smiled, "I haven't prepared much. I assume Junior has prepared quite well?"
Yan Hua pretended humility, "So-so." As he spoke, his eyes darted around animatedly, wishing he could jump onto the stage immediately and display his prowess.
Before long, the small auditorium filled up until it was packed to capacity. Finally, teachers and school administrators entered and took the front row seats.
Although the Student Union election was decided by student votes, the final School Committee held the right of veto, even if they rarely exercised it to respect student authority.
Yan Hua, Feng Na, and others running for President sat near the front, while Li Yundong, Ruan Hongling, and Cheng Cheng sat at the very back.
A short while later, after the teacher's opening remarks, the first student stepped up to give a speech. Li Yundong watched the stage while lowering his voice to Ruan Hongling, "Why are you at this place? Don't tell me you came specifically to supervise my cultivation?"
Ruan Hongling scoffed, "Don't flatter yourself! I am here to experience the ways of the world more deeply. If practitioners of our Ling Palace Sect cannot grasp worldly affairs, their cultivation strength will be greatly diminished!"
Li Yundong suddenly realized, "Oh, I see!"
A while later, the student on stage stepped down, and the students below began whispering amongst themselves, commenting on the candidate.
The second candidate was a short, stout young man. He got on stage and launched into a stream of rambling speech, spraying saliva so profusely that the teachers in the first row were nearly covered, forcing the instructors to hold up their notebooks to shield themselves.
Yan Hua below sneered inwardly: Hmph, a third-rate university truly produces third-rate talents. And this guy dares to run for Student Union President? What a joke!
The number of students running for President this year wasn't huge—only eight in total. The initial candidates showed widely varying qualities, and quite a few students below jeered.
When Yan Hua finally took the stage, the jeering instantly stopped, and the students were momentarily stunned.
Yan Hua came from an excellent background; both his parents were high-level intellectuals, essentially from a scholarly family. Since childhood, he had devoured countless books, and while he might not be erudite, he was considered remarkably learned among his peers.
As soon as Yan Hua stepped onto the stage, the inherent pride and confidence radiating from him silenced the students below. He swept his gaze across the audience; wherever his eyes landed, the murmuring ceased. The students, awed by his presence, stared intently, eager to hear the campaign speech from this commanding young man.
Even the teachers below nodded secretly: Finally, a candidate with some substance!
After commanding the room, Yan Hua began his speech.
Li Yundong listened intently from below. Although he wasn't fond of the young man, he had to admit that Yan Hua's rhetoric was indeed impressive. His speech was confident and sharp, displaying the demeanor of a Western orator. It was completely off-the-cuff, yet delivered smoothly, logically structured, well-argued, and peppered with sophisticated technical terms and English words, which thoroughly impressed the students below.
When Yan Hua finished his ten-minute speech, the hall fell into complete silence. Nearly every student looked at him, thinking to themselves, Although this guy seems arrogant, he actually has some skill! A top scholar is a top scholar, after all!
"Clap, clap, clap." A teacher led the applause, quickly followed by a second and a third. Even Li Yundong couldn't help but clap, nodding in approval.
Cheng Cheng, standing beside him, couldn't help but protest indignantly, "No way! Are you defecting? Didn't you forget how this guy just insulted you?"
Li Yundong chuckled, "I don't know about his character, but his speech was indeed excellent. It deserves applause."
Cheng Cheng was annoyed by Li Yundong, rolling her eyes, "Fine, you’re magnanimous. I see Na Na is going to have a tough time now! Damn it, the thought of this guy becoming Student Union President annoys me! Hey, can you stand having him as President? He’s already acting this high and mighty now; won't he be unbearable later?"
Li Yundong smiled faintly, "Who becomes Student Union President has nothing to do with me. Of course, personally, I support Feng Na becoming President!"
Cheng Cheng snapped, "Are you an idiot? If you let him win, will you have any good days? Won't he be making things difficult for you constantly?"
Li Yundong offered a non-committal smile, inwardly feeling utterly unconcerned: What a joke. Me, a majestic cultivator, worrying about a mere Student Union President? That’s ridiculous.
Just as he was sneering inwardly, Feng Na walked onto the stage. She was wearing a pale yellow dress, cinched at the waist with a light blue belt, her long hair falling over her shoulders—simple, elegant, and graceful.
Upon taking the stage, Feng Na's beautiful eyes swept across the audience with a charming smile, and the murmuring below gradually subsided.
Yan Hua watched Feng Na from below with his arms crossed, possessing the pride of a victor, believing she couldn't surpass him, yet feeling a flicker of curiosity: I wonder what kind of campaign speech this senior will deliver?
