In this frigid close of the year, the Star Group pulled off a masterstroke, seizing firm control of the entire cosmetics market through the magical giveaway of "Star Spirit."
The cosmetics sector swiftly became another market the Star Group dominated at will, utterly humiliating the experts and media who had previously mocked the group, predicting they would flounder there and turning them into industry jokes.
Meanwhile, in the Washington Post in America, a journalist published an article titled: "Star Group, Where Will You Head Next?" After reviewing the history of the Star Group’s products rampaging across the market, the journalist posed this question at the end of the piece. In the writer's estimation, there seemed to be no enterprise left in the world capable of stopping the advance of Star Group products, making their next move a matter of intense public scrutiny.
The journalist also offered collective condolences in the article to the merchants of the same era as the Star Group, suggesting that from this point forward, they would live in constant anxiety, spending their days praying to God that the Star Group wouldn't venture into their respective fields. If the Star Group entered their product domain, these merchants would have only one path left: bankruptcy.
In the magic plane, Alexander received daily reports from Liu Hui detailing the military movements detected regarding the Xiling Kingdom. After a month and a half of nationwide mobilization, the Xiling Kingdom had amassed an army of over three hundred thousand Elves, including the ten thousand elite troops of the "First Royal Army." These forces were fully assembled, awaiting only the final delivery of logistics and provisions before marching toward the mountains where Alexander was stationed, intending to exterminate every human.
During this past month, Alexander and his forces had not been idle. They made extensive use of the super cultivation mats provided by Liu Hui, resulting in tremendous growth in their strength under the cultivation amplification rate of over one hundred times.
Currently, the total number of Level Seven warriors and mages in the Church of Light had reached thirty-five thousand; Level Eight warriors and mages numbered over six thousand seven hundred; and Level Nine warriors and mages totaled eight hundred and sixty. The count of Level Ten warriors and mages had even surpassed ten, while Alexander himself, under unprecedented pressure, had reached the very peak of a Level Ten Mage, on the verge of breaking through to Level Eleven at any moment.
The army of the Church of Light was not solely focused on level advancement; they were continuously familiarizing themselves with the high-tech weaponry from Earth provided by Liu Hui. Although they were still unpracticed in the use of these instruments, the troops at least grasped the general purpose and methods of operation for these weapons.
Furthermore, the signal transmission towers were erected in concealed locations atop mountain peaks, enabling comprehensive monitoring of areas spanning over two hundred kilometers through communicators, giving Alexander intimate knowledge of every movement within his domain.
Incited by Alexander, their Pontiff, every single devotee of the Church of Light was brimming with fervor, practically eager to sacrifice their lives for the glory of the Light God. They clenched their fists, fully prepared to teach these heretics who dared to profane the Light God a harsh lesson.
Seeing that Alexander’s side was fully prepared, with only the east wind lacking, Liu Hui finally felt a true sense of relief. He could no longer offer significant assistance regarding the situation the magic plane faced; everything now depended on Alexander’s performance. All he could do was wait slowly on Earth for the outcome of this war.
Liu Hui was cautious this time; he specifically procured several high-definition cameras, handing them to Alexander and instructing his subordinates on their use. He wanted this war—the collision of science and magic in another realm—recorded. Even if he couldn't witness the battle firsthand in the other world, he could gain a detailed understanding of the events afterward by viewing the recorded footage.
It was at this juncture that the Zerg of the Zerg race contacted Liu Hui.
As soon as the connection opened with the Zerg, Liu Hui spoke urgently, "Respected Lord Zerg, have you come to tell me the results of your genetic research on that individual?"
Zerg looked at Liu Hui with a complex expression and stated, "Respected Lord Liu Hui, I have come to inform you of the results of our research on the owner of that blood sample."
Liu Hui immediately inquired, "And what are your research findings? Is she human?"
Zerg replied, "Through the study of the genetic sample of the person you provided, we discovered that like you, she is a genuine human being."
Liu Hui immediately breathed a sigh of relief. Anqi was, after all, human, not some non-human entity like a monster. This was the news that pleased him the most.
Zerg continued, "However, within this human body, there exists a mysterious substance. It is precisely because of this mysterious substance that the previous body evolution fluid failed to take effect."
Liu Hui, now in high spirits, asked, "What kind of mysterious substance is this, that it can render your genetic medication ineffective?"
Zerg admitted with some shame, "Respected Mr. Liu Hui, after our detailed research during this period, we ultimately failed to determine what this mysterious substance actually is."
Liu Hui was startled. "Even you don't know what this mysterious substance is? Haven't you been studying genetics for tens of thousands of years?"
Zerg shook his head. "Even though we have studied gene technology for countless millennia, there remain vast unknown territories in the field of genetics. This mysterious substance falls into an area unknown to us. That is why, despite studying it for so long, we cannot ascertain its specific nature."
Liu Hui inquired curiously, "Then what characteristics does this mysterious substance possess?"
Zerg explained, "Upon studying the blood sample, we found this mysterious substance present. When we attempted to research it, we observed that this substance was slowly diminishing. As we continued our study, it grew less and less until this morning, when it vanished entirely."
Liu Hui was alarmed and quickly asked, "This mysterious substance completely disappeared?"
Zerg confirmed, "Indeed. Right under our noses, this mysterious substance suddenly vanished completely. No matter how we searched, we could find no trace of its existence. However, through this period of research, we did gain some understanding of it. We surmise that this mysterious substance is continuously generated within that individual's body, which explains why it decreased until its final disappearance. As for how this substance is produced, we are unclear on the process, nor can we extract it, but it is certainly linked to the internal condition of that person's body."
Liu Hui asked with some concern, "Will the existence of this mysterious substance cause any side effects to that person’s body?"
Zerg answered, "Although we do not know the specifics of that substance, we found that it is not only harmless to the human body but actually confers numerous benefits."
Liu Hui asked in surprise, "This mysterious substance is actually beneficial to humans?"
Zerg confirmed, "Yes. Through our research, we found that this mysterious substance can permanently enhance your human mental power. It can also significantly boost human intelligence, granting perfect recall, and greatly strengthening the computational capacity within the brain—the extent of this enhancement is quite massive. Therefore, we can assert that the person who provided this blood sample is undoubtedly a super-genius in your human world. Regardless of her profession, she would achieve astonishing results in that field. In our studies, we found no adverse side effects associated with this mysterious substance on the human body."
Hearing Zerg’s explanation, Liu Hui finally relaxed. This meant Anqi's body was completely fine. The intelligence and talent she displayed were related to this mysterious substance generated internally. Since Zerg found no evidence that the substance harmed Anqi’s body, it meant her health was likely without issue.
Liu Hui suddenly recalled the resentful look in Anqi’s eyes before she gained the ability for body evolution, and a pang of pain hit him. He asked, "Respected Lord Zerg, I understand the situation now. Have you devised any method to create a body evolution fluid that could achieve the goal of modifying this person's body?"
Zerg shook his head. "Since we could not ascertain the specific nature of this mysterious substance, we currently have no way to create an evolution drug that would be effective on this human. Only if this mysterious substance within her body suddenly disappeared could the pre-injection body evolution fluid take effect."
Liu Hui felt a moment of disappointment, but he quickly became happy again. Zerg's research confirmed that Anqi’s body was sound, which was what mattered most to him. The fact that Anqi temporarily could not gain the ability to deploy formations was a minor matter; a person couldn't be expected to master everything, could they?
Zerg also felt somewhat frustrated. He had always considered the Zerg race's research into genetics to be quite thorough, only for Liu Hui to present them with another conundrum; they were helpless against this mysterious substance. Moreover, since this human could not be transported to their plane, they could not conduct a detailed physical examination, meaning the mystery of the substance might never be solved. However, in the process of studying it, their researchers did gain some valuable insights, which did help advance their own gene technology to some degree.
Two weeks later, after Liu Hui delivered newly manufactured weapons to Alexander, Alexander informed him that they had already spotted the silhouettes of Xiling Kingdom Elf soldiers near their territory. News filtering back from the Xiling Kingdom also indicated that they had completed all preparations and were about to launch an offensive against the human strongholds.
Therefore, Alexander stated that after accepting this batch of weapons, he would personally command the operation and would no longer be able to contact Liu Hui casually.
Liu Hui’s heart immediately grew heavy. After bidding farewell to Alexander, he constantly worried about the war unfolding in the magic plane, causing him to handle Star Group reports with a noticeable lack of spirit.
Hu Xian’er mistook Liu Hui's strange mood for exhaustion from working too long. She even accompanied him to tour famous sights in Hong Kong, hoping to cheer him up. But Liu Hui’s preoccupation with the magic plane meant he couldn't find joy.
A week passed this way before Alexander called Liu Hui again. Liu Hui had been spending much of this time waiting in the basement for Alexander’s summons. Upon receiving the call, he immediately activated the Plane Trade Device. Alexander on the screen looked utterly haggard; there was a large scar across his face, and his hair was singed into a messy bird's nest.
Liu Hui was shocked and quickly asked, "My dear Alexander, what is the situation? Did you win?"
Alexander suddenly broke into a smile and declared loudly, "Teacher, our Church of Light has won! We annihilated the invading Elf army of the Xiling Kingdom!"
Alexander spoke loudly, causing the muscles in his face to twitch around the wound, making his appearance quite terrifying. But Liu Hui paid no mind to this; hearing that Alexander had annihilated the invading Xiling forces, he felt Alexander looked more magnificent than ever before, and the worry that had hung over him for so long finally lifted.
Liu Hui exclaimed excitedly, "It's good that you won, it's good that you won..."
Alexander produced several cameras and placed them on the Plane Trade Device, saying, "Teacher, these cameras contain videos recorded by our accompanying personnel during the war. You can review them. We have just achieved victory, and there are many immediate matters to handle. Once I sort these out, I will tell you everything in detail."
Liu Hui clicked the transaction, acquiring the cameras, and smiled, "My dear Alexander, you go attend to your duties. We can chat leisurely once you are finished."
Alexander bid farewell and shut down the Plane Trade Device. Liu Hui then connected the cameras to the large LCD television in his room and began playing the recorded footage.
The videos, presumably filmed by some of the human personnel, were captured with unexpected skill. They documented the entire process of the war so perfectly that as Liu Hui watched on the large screen, it felt as if he were personally experiencing the battle.
"Your Holiness, our armies are fully assembled and await your command," a heavily armored human warrior knelt before Alexander and reported.
Alexander’s expression was resolute, showing none of the underlying dread hidden in his heart. He declared in a loud voice, "Soldiers of the Church of Light, the Light God will surely bless us with victory in this war! We will utterly annihilate these heretical villains. Because the Light God is omnipotent, He watches our performance from the heavens. Under His banner, we shall be invincible and victorious in every battle!"
The soldiers arrayed below immediately shouted in unison, "Under the protection of the great Light God, we shall win; for the honor of the Light God, we shall win..."
Alexander waved his hand grandly and commanded, "I now order all armies of the Church of Light: Move out!"
Instantly, the armies of the Church of Light began an orderly withdrawal from the rally site according to the mission deployment plan, setting off to execute their respective unit combat plans.
Alexander then mounted a nearby Behemoth, and behind him, the Behemoth Knights followed closely, charging forward at high speed under his leadership.
...
Alexander stood atop a massive canyon in the mountainous region, observing the Elven army below slowly traversing the chasm.
The Elven force below numbered ten thousand—a vanguard unit of the Xiling Kingdom. Upon learning their opponents were the still "uncivilized" humans, they were completely at ease; they didn't even dispatch scouts. In their view, these humans dwelling in the mountains had no concept of warfare and were intrinsically weak; even if a human army ambushed them, it wouldn't cause any significant harm.
But these Elves were unaware that the moment they entered the territory of the Church of Light, their movements were immediately detected by Alexander via remote communicator. This was why Alexander led the Church of Light army to this location, setting up an ambush within the canyon to completely wipe out this Elven vanguard.
Alexander watched coldly as the Elven army entered the great canyon. Once he confirmed the entire force was inside, he commanded through the communicator, "Execute the plan!"
Immediately, streams of human soldiers emerged from both sides of the canyon walls. These troops swiftly cut the thick vines, sending dozens of massive boulders tumbling from above, completely sealing off both ends of the canyon and trapping the entire Xiling Kingdom army inside.
Caught by surprise, the Elven army reacted when they realized the canyon entrances were blocked by colossal stones. Their command structure immediately activated, and under the direction of their core officers, the entire force rapidly calmed down, avoiding panic.
Alexander spoke into the communicator, "Activate the minefield!"
A control button was pressed, and the remote mines buried beneath the canyon floor were triggered. These mines sensed the Elven warriors stepping on them and instantly detonated violently. The shockwaves and shrapnel from the explosions flung the Elven soldiers skyward; countless Elves were blasted into gore, with bloody fragments scattering everywhere. However, due to the Elves’ formidable inherent strength, many were heavily wounded but few died instantly. Nevertheless, this sudden assault utterly shattered the formations of the Elves who had just regained their composure, showing faint signs of breaking ranks.
Seeing this, Alexander was overjoyed and immediately ordered, "Fire twenty thermobaric bombs, target: enemy center!"
The twenty cannons pre-positioned on the canyon rim roared, launching twenty thermobaric bombs toward the Elven army below. These bombs detonated above the heads of the Elven formation.
The powerful concussive force generated by the thermobaric explosions was greatly amplified within the narrow confines of the canyon, resulting in massive casualties among the Elven soldiers who had narrowly survived the first wave. Subsequently, the thermobaric bombs ignited the surrounding air, turning the canyon floor into an oxygen-deprived, suffocating space. The heavily wounded Elven soldiers, unable to move, all asphyxiated where they lay.
These twenty thermobaric bombs inflicted over six thousand casualties on the Elven army, finally throwing the remaining forces into disarray, leading to a breakdown in command. Yet, their ingrained tactical discipline prompted the surviving Elves to act spontaneously. Those uninjured and agile Elves began climbing the canyon walls, relying on their superior combat power to assault the human forces positioned on the rim. Meanwhile, the Mages began gathering magical energy, preparing to counterattack toward the canyon top. The high-level experts among the Elves, those Level Eight and above, even employed levitation techniques, attempting to fly to the rim to slaughter the human troops who dared to ambush them.
Little did those surviving Elven soldiers realize that more than ten thin beams of crimson light suddenly lanced down from above the canyon. These faint crimson shafts swept across the masters flying in the air, and the bodies of the Elven soldiers ranked Level Eight were instantly cleaved in two, falling back into the gorge separately. As for the Level Nine masters, they were pinned mid-air by the laser beams, which then relentlessly swept over their forms again and again until they too were sliced into segments and perished on the spot.
One Elven warrior, who had attained the peak of Level Ten, possessed exceptional agility. In the air, he managed to accurately discern the firing patterns of these lasers and successfully evaded every shot from the beam weaponry, finally making it to the rim of the canyon. However, before this Level Ten warrior could unleash his might, he was intercepted by three Level Ten warriors from the Church of Light. The moment the Elven warrior was engaged, his momentum naturally slowed, resulting in the unfortunate consequence of him being struck by a laser beam, freezing him in place. He was then swiftly overwhelmed and killed under the combined assault of the three Level Ten Church of Light warriors.
Having eliminated the elite fighters within the Elven contingent using the laser weaponry, Alexander next directed the beams against the Elven troops clustered in the canyon below. Consequently, those Elven soldiers struggling to climb upward were successively sliced in half by the laser fire. The mages, caught mid-incantation, were cut through before they could even fully unleash their magical assaults.
Under the sustained barrage from more than ten laser weapons, not a single Elven soldier managed to scale the canyon wall, nor could any mage release a spell. The remaining Elven forces below were swiftly annihilated under the relentless precision of the laser fire.
From the moment Alexander issued his command until the complete eradication of the Elven army, only twenty minutes had elapsed. This stunned the Church of Light soldiers participating in their first large-scale engagement. They were aghast at the immense power wielded by the weapons they controlled, which had so effortlessly annihilated the ten-thousand-strong Elven vanguard force, resulting in zero casualties on their own side. This success instantly filled them with unwavering confidence regarding the Human race’s ultimate victory in this war.
Alexander, too, was ecstatic. Suppressing his inner elation, he made a sweeping gesture, and the hidden Human forces immediately began a swift withdrawal after quickly tidying the battlefield.
The first confrontation between the Human race and the Elves in the Magic Plane concluded with a total and decisive victory for the Humans.
