Amidst the hustle and bustle, the New Year quickly passed. During the Spring Festival period, Liu Hui stayed put, remaining by his family's side. Their family life was joyous and exceptionally harmonious.
Hu Xian'er's father also frequently visited Liu Hui's home for gatherings. He was currently residing in the Star Sky Group employee dormitories, just a few minutes' walk from Liu Hui and Hu Xian'er's new home, making it very convenient.
After Hu Xian'er's wedding, Hu Qingyang finally let go of the burden on his heart and proposed to Sister Ling. Sister Ling had never married all these years, always waiting for Hu Qingyang. Upon his proposal, the two were officially wed. Hu Xian'er sincerely wished them both well and apologized for her youthful lack of understanding. The Hu family finally cleared the air and returned to a state of warmth and harmony.
Zhou Tengyun and Xie Yuxin stayed in Hong Kong for several days. He briefed Liu Hui in detail about the situation at the African base, particularly noting that the lingering issues from the "SN" organization had been thoroughly managed. All leads were severed, ensuring no one could trace the nuclear explosion back to the "SN" organization, let alone implicate Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun. Following the Spring Festival, Zhou Tengyun departed Hong Kong with Xie Yuxin, returning to the African base.
On the day Xie Yuxin left, Mei Peng intentionally brought his young son to see them off. The two little ones, facing separation, burst into loud sobs, much to the amazement of Zhou Tengyun and Mei Peng. Nevertheless, Zhou Tengyun eventually left with Xie Yuxin; for the remainder of his life, Xie Yuxin would be his spiritual pillar—leaving her was unthinkable. Mei Peng did his best to comfort his own son, while his wife, Liu Lin, watched the departing figures of Zhou Tengyun and Xie Yuxin with a thoughtful expression.
All the way from America, Chen Shaokang, the boss of Amy Group, actually sent his son, Chen Lang, to pay his respects to Liu Hui's family on New Year's Eve. Although Chen Lang was ostensibly there to offer New Year greetings, everyone understood that his real objective was Liu Hui's mother. Liu Hui's father became highly vigilant the moment Chen Lang arrived, watching his every move and giving him no opportunity to launch any familial offensive. Only after Chen Lang left in disappointment did Liu Decheng finally let out a long sigh of relief.
Before the New Year, Liu Hui distributed a massive $5 billion bonus pool within the Star Sky Group, allocated strictly according to employee experience levels. The result was that some ordinary employees received higher payouts than some leaders, bringing cheers and elation from those who directly benefited, as they finally saw a clear path to realizing their self-worth. The leaders with lower experience rankings were secretly spurred on, determined to work harder to level up sooner and secure better benefits. Thus, after more than half a year of implementation and the practice of year-end bonus distribution, the Star Sky Group's employee experience point system had finally taken root, genuinely becoming a fair and equitable management structure.
After enjoying a pleasant Spring Festival, it was time to return to work. All employees of the Star Sky Group arrived at the company full of vigor, ready to contribute their abilities to make the Star Sky Group even better.
Barely two days into the work period, Alexander from the Magic Plane urgently called Liu Hui, who promptly answered the connection.
"Esteemed Teacher, greetings," Alexander looked somewhat tense on the screen.
"My dear Alexander, what is the matter? You seem quite nervous," Liu Hui asked with curiosity.
"Teacher, using the monitoring equipment you provided earlier, we've detected a group of fierce beasts gathering around the perimeter of our territory," Alexander said anxiously.
"What? My dear Alexander, don't rush. Tell me slowly, what exactly is happening?" Liu Hui was startled and quickly soothed Alexander, eager to understand the full situation.
"Teacher, I suspected someone was covertly observing us previously, which is why I set up the surveillance gear you gave us. For several months afterward, we found nothing unusual nearby. But just this morning, when I once again felt we were being spied upon, we spotted several Fox Clan scouts appearing around our territory on the monitors. However, by the time our warriors reached the location, the Fox Clan scouts had vanished. So, I am certain that the ones spying on us previously were these Fox Clan scouts," Alexander explained.
"The Fox Clan?" Liu Hui was inwardly alarmed. The sudden appearance of this unfamiliar yet familiar race near Alexander's territory, with their motives unknown, deeply worried Liu Hui.
"Teacher, yes, they are the Fox Clan. And shortly after these scouts appeared, guided by them, a large contingent of tall and formidable beasts emerged. By eavesdropping on their conversation, I learned that these beasts refer to themselves as 'Behemoths'," Alexander said.
"What? Behemoth Beasts?" Images of the Behemoth Beasts from fantasy novels immediately flashed through Liu Hui's mind. In those novels, Behemoth Beasts were invariably incredibly powerful and mighty, possessing formidable strength that no one could match. The presence of Behemoth Beasts near Alexander’s territory now—what did that signify? Alexander was directly tied to all of Liu Hui's interests in the Magic Plane; any mishap was unacceptable.
Alexander continued, sounding somewhat incensed, "Teacher is right; these beasts called Behemoths are indeed enormous, truly deserving of the title 'Beast.' I continued to monitor the conversations between these Behemoths and the Fox Clan scouts, only to discover that the Fox Clan scouts are actually slaves to the Behemoths. They inadvertently discovered our human territory, saw how prosperous our lives were, and after gathering details about us, they returned to the Behemoth tribe to inform their chieftain. So, this time, the Behemoth Chieftain personally led his Behemoth army here, intending to plunder our wealth and enslave all of us humans."
Liu Hui was left speechless. This was simply the otherworldly version of 'trouble walking right into your home.' The human race had just begun to gain traction when the Behemoth Beasts showed up, seeking to make humans their slaves. If humanity failed to win this coming conflict, extinction would not be far behind. Though Liu Hui sighed, since the Behemoth Beasts had come knocking, he had no choice but to devise a way to eliminate them and protect his interests in the Magic Plane.
So Liu Hui inquired, "Roughly how many of those Behemoth Beasts are there? What is their strength level?"
Alexander replied, "According to their Behemoth Chieftain, their tribe has dispatched one thousand Behemoth warrior units to attack our human territory. They have about five hundred more Behemoth warriors remaining at their tribe, and their Fox Clan slaves number less than twenty. From the surveillance footage, I observe that the individual strength of these Behemoth Beasts is around Level Seven, while their Chieftain is stronger, at Level Eight. As for the Fox Clan, their individual strength is very weak; their only advantages are extreme speed and skill in concealing themselves."
Liu Hui asked, "How is the strength of your warriors?"
Alexander replied dejectedly, "Although we have many warriors, and they have trained for a year and a half, the highest individual strength among them is Level Seven, though there are not many Level Seven warriors—only one hundred and fifty. The rest are all Level Six or below. Our Light God Cult mages are even weaker because they have not practiced magic for long; the highest level is a Level Five mage, and there aren't many of them either; the others are Level Four or lower. The Dark Mages are even worse off, barely reaching Level Three, capable of summoning only a few dozen weak skeletons, possessing no real combat capability yet. Among everyone, I have become a High-Level Mage, reaching Level Eight, the strongest among them."
Through Alexander's explanation, Liu Hui finally grasped the power balance: given humanity's current strength, engaging the Behemoth Beasts in battle would be a death sentence; there was no hope of victory. The Behemoth Beasts possessed extremely high innate talent, making them virtually invincible within the same level bracket. The lower-level human warriors would surely be no match for them, regardless of their numbers.
Liu Hui thought carefully and asked, "My dear Alexander, do not worry. With Teacher here, I will not allow those Behemoth Beasts to harm you."
In his panic, Alexander momentarily forgot that his mysterious Teacher was seemingly capable of handling anything.
Liu Hui asked again, "My dear Alexander, did those Behemoth Beasts say when they plan to attack?"
Alexander replied, "During their discussion, they mentioned planning to attack us late tonight. They are exhausted from their long march and are resting now."
"There is still half a day until their attack. I will prepare some things first and then contact you. Immediately and discreetly assemble your forces and prepare for battle. It would be best if you could find a suitable location for an ambush. I will help you eliminate all these Behemoth Beasts," Liu Hui instructed.
Only then did Alexander nod, letting the heavy weight he carried ease. Liu Hui had always kept his word, cultivating an image of omnipotence in Alexander's mind over time.
Liu Hui terminated the call with Alexander and hurried to the Star Sky Scientific Research Institute, where he found Chen Changsheng in the laboratory. He pulled Chen Changsheng aside and asked, "Director Chen, you mentioned previously that we had successfully miniaturized the laser weapon and made it combat-ready—is that true?"
Chen Changsheng looked displeased. "Boss, of course, it's true. When have I ever lied to you?"
Liu Hui said sheepishly, "I apologize, Director Chen, that's not what I meant. I urgently need this laser weapon, and I misspoke out of haste."
Only then did Chen Changsheng smile broadly. "You are the boss; I cannot accept your apology. By the way, what do you need a laser weapon for?"
"It has its uses. Hurry and show me this weapon," Liu Hui urged.
So, Chen Changsheng handed his current work over to his assistant and led Liu Hui into another laboratory. In this room, several white-coated scientists were conducting experiments, and in their midst lay an object the size of a laptop computer.
Chen Changsheng pointed to the laptop-sized device and said, "Boss, this is our laser weapon."
Liu Hui couldn't help but widen his eyes. "This laser weapon is so small?"
Chen Changsheng smiled proudly. "Naturally. Because the most crucial component of a laser weapon is its energy source; the other equipment occupies very little volume. Since the Level Six energy stones we use are small, this laser weapon is only the size of a laptop."
Liu Hui asked doubtfully, "But if the weapon is this small, is its power great?"
Chen Changsheng chuckled. "Boss, don't let its size fool you; this laser weapon is incredibly powerful. At full power, it can instantly slice through one meter of the world's hardest specialized steel."
Liu Hui recalled, "I remember you saying before that this laser weapon had a flaw—it couldn't engage more than five targets simultaneously, right?"
Chen Changsheng laughed. "Correct, but that was last year's report. After several improvements, the performance of this current laser weapon has greatly increased. It can now simultaneously engage thirty targets. Furthermore, its laser firing time has been significantly enhanced. Its current core energy source is a Level Six energy stone, which, if fully depleted, allows this weapon to fire continuously for over ten hours."
"It's actually that potent?" Liu Hui was overjoyed, scarcely believing what he heard.
Chen Changsheng signaled, and the scientists immediately dispersed, clearing the area in front of them. They set up a target—a slab of specialized steel one meter thick—and then activated the laser weapon. After the preheating was complete, they aimed it at the target slab.
Chen Changsheng grinned. "Boss, would you like to test its power?"
Liu Hui replied with surprise, "I can operate it?"
Chen Changsheng laughed. "Of course. Operating this laser weapon is completely foolproof; simple training is all it takes."
The nearby scientist quickly gave Liu Hui an on-the-spot tutorial, and Liu Hui grasped the weapon's operation method quickly. He aimed the laser weapon at the meter-thick steel plate and pressed the button in his hand. The weapon immediately discharged a beam of red laser light that pierced straight through the steel plate. The remaining energy even penetrated the rock wall behind it, burying itself deep within the stone—fortunately, the wall was built against the mountain, otherwise, that beam might have caused a host of troubles.
Liu Hui did not stop the beam. With a slight twist of his wrist, the laser followed the movement, effortlessly cutting the thick steel plate into two sections. Only then did he satisfyingly shut down the weapon. Through his own testing, he was extremely pleased with the laser weapon's destructive capability.
"Boss, what do you think?" Chen Changsheng asked proudly.
Liu Hui nodded in satisfaction. "Excellent, I am very satisfied. I have urgent matters and need to borrow this weapon for a time; I will return it once I am done."
Chen Changsheng looked surprised. "Boss wants to borrow this weapon? I hope nothing goes wrong?"
Liu Hui smiled. "Director Chen, I know the gravity of the situation; rest assured, nothing problematic will occur."
Chen Changsheng shook his head. "Boss, that's not what I meant. I am worried that if this weapon falls into the wrong hands, our enemies might acquire such a devastating device, jeopardizing your safety."
Liu Hui was touched. He smiled. "Director Chen, please don't worry; I absolutely will not let it fall out."
Liu Hui then took the laptop-sized laser weapon and hurried back to the basement to contact Alexander. However, Alexander took a long time to connect the call.
"Esteemed Teacher, have you prepared what you promised?" Alexander asked, filled with hope.
Liu Hui smiled faintly. "Of course, I'm prepared. When has Teacher ever disappointed you?" He then placed the laser weapon onto the trading platform, and Alexander joyfully clicked the transaction, taking the weapon into his hands.
Liu Hui smiled. "My dear Alexander, be careful. The weapon in your hand is extremely dangerous. I must first tell you how to use it, as a mistaken operation could be fatal."
Heeding Liu Hui's warning, Alexander immediately stopped any thought of trying to open the weapon and focused intently on Liu Hui's instructions.
Ten minutes later, Alexander finally understood how to operate the laser weapon, though Liu Hui never mentioned the weapon's name. Alexander cautiously activated the device, aimed it at a piece of overhanging rock on the ceiling of his cavern, and pressed the fire button. A red beam shot out, piercing the overhanging rock. He then rotated his wrist, tracing the red light across the rock mass.
With a loud "Rumble," the overhanging rock was cleaved apart and crashed heavily to the floor. Alexander stared at the laser weapon in his hands, dumbfounded and awestruck by its power. He had previously tried to dislodge that same rock but was unable to because it was too hard. Now, a thin red beam had instantly severed it—how could he not be shaken by the might of the weapon in his hand?
"Now that you have this weapon, I believe even many more Behemoth Beasts will not be your match," Liu Hui remarked with a smile.
Alexander quickly snapped out of his shock and said happily, "Esteemed Teacher, thank you for giving me such a formidable weapon. With this in hand, I am confident we can utterly annihilate every single Behemoth Beast that dares to invade."
Liu Hui asked, "Were you arranging your personnel just now?"
"Yes, I've already mapped out the Behemoth Beasts' attack route and found a highly suitable location along their path to lay an ambush. I was initially prepared to suffer heavy losses to wipe them out completely, but with this weapon, our personnel casualties should be minimal," Alexander stated with delight.
Seeing Alexander regain his confidence, Liu Hui finally relaxed. After giving him a few final instructions, he closed the communication link with Alexander.
Liu Hui could now only place his hopes entirely on Alexander, praying that he was truly as capable as his namesake on Earth, and that he could wipe out the invading Behemoth Beasts and secure Liu Hui's interests in the Magic Plane.
