A great shout erupted from the little auditorium, soon followed by peals of laughter so loud they seemed capable of lifting the roof right off.
The boys roared with mirth and noise, while some of the girls flushed scarlet, spitting under their breath. Others covered their eyes with their hands, too mortified to look at the screen, though narrow slits always remained between their fingers.
Feng Na, Cheng Cheng, and the student running the projector stood frozen in shock, utterly unresponsive.
Li Yundong snapped out of his trance, lunging forward in a single bound to slam the stop button on the machine.
The moment the image vanished, the students in the small hall yelled in unison: "Don't stop! Keep playing it!"
"Damn, I've seen this one! It's censored!"
"I want to see an Ozawa Maria flick!"
"Bro, you are seriously awesome for playing this kind of film! I swear I worship you!"
"Yamete! Don't stop! Yamete!"
The small auditorium was pure chaos. The boys stamped their feet and roared, and some of the girls collapsed into fits of laughter. Only Li Yundong, Feng Na, and the others on stage were sweating bullets, utterly unable to laugh.
"How did you bring my disc here?" Li Yundong stared wide-eyed at Su Chan.
Su Chan knew she had likely caused another huge disaster. She lowered her head and mumbled weakly, "I ruined the original disc, and then I happened to see this one. I was afraid you’d scold me, so I..."
Li Yundong was at a loss whether to laugh or cry. He rubbed his temples. "Now we're in deep trouble!"
Feng Na snapped back to reality beside them. "What? This is your disc?"
Li Yundong managed a bitter smile. "Looks like it."
Feng Na stamped her foot angrily. "How could you cause such a screw-up? If the teachers find out about this, we'll be expelled!"
Cheng Cheng couldn't help herself. "Hey, you really went overboard with the prank! An adult film is one thing, but why did you write your name on it? 'Days Living with the Flight Attendant'! What are the odds?"
Li Yundong rolled his eyes. "Is there anything wrong with that title? I was quite proud of myself when I named it! Besides, it's my disc. Whatever I write on it is my own business, isn't it?"
Feng Na spat out contemptuously. "Pah! It’s not your business anymore! You've ruined me!"
As if to prove Feng Na right, an enraged shout suddenly boomed from the entrance of the small auditorium, followed by the appearance of a teacher. Li Yundong focused his vision: ah, an old acquaintance—Director Qian, with his gold-rimmed glasses and the haircut of a mid-level bureaucrat!
Director Qian stormed to the stage, his feet barely touching the ground, flailing his arms with the frantic energy of a Red Guard purging counter-revolutionaries. "Who! Who showed this? This is outrageous! Showing filth like this in the school!"
Director Qian’s appearance turned Feng Na’s face ashen. She opened her mouth, wanting to speak, but her mind went completely blank.
For a girl, being branded with the crime of "publicly showing pornographic footage" and expelled would leave a lifelong stain, and in a more serious case, could even lead to police involvement!
Li Yundong knew this mess was largely his fault, so without hesitation, he stepped forward. He announced loudly, "It was me! It has nothing to do with them!"
Director Qian’s tiny, bean-like eyes fixed intensely on Li Yundong, a cold sneer forming in his mind: I was just looking for leverage against you, and you delivered yourself right to my doorstep!
Director Qian snorted and sneered mockingly. "Oh ho! Do you think this is some heroic act? You admit it so righteously!"
Li Yundong had calmed down by now. He thought: I’m definitely expelled this time! I can handle the punishment, but Feng Na can't. At worst, I'll just drop out and focus on cultivation with the little girl. If Feng Na gets expelled, what will she do? A girl branded with such a vile reputation will never hold her head up again.
Li Yundong said in a deep voice, "It's not about being righteous; it’s about taking responsibility for one's actions. However, this whole thing is a misunderstanding. I accidentally brought the wrong disc from home, which caused this incident."
Su Chan, standing nearby, urgently tried to speak up but was silenced by a sharp glare from Li Yundong.
Director Qian let out a strange cackle. "Stop your sophistry! Li Yundong, I think you've gone mad playing the hero, actually doing something like this!"
Feng Na came to her senses, staring at Li Yundong with wide eyes. Her lips trembled, wanting to speak but unable to form words. Her gaze was filled with shock, gratitude, worry, fear, and a flicker of guilt.
Seeing her look, Li Yundong smiled faintly and nodded, signaling her not to worry.
Seeing Li Yundong still finding time to exchange meaningful glances with a beauty despite such a severe offense, Director Qian was furious to the point of explosion. He hopped on his toes and shouted, "Li Yundong, I am formally notifying you now: you are suspended! The School Committee will thoroughly discuss your actions and then give you the final result and answer! Go home and await judgment! Though, I can tell you in advance, given the egregious nature of today's event, you certainly won't escape expulsion!"
Li Yundong adopted a completely reckless posture. "As you wish!"
Director Qian was choked by his response, his eyes rolling back as he sneered and huffed on stage.
Some of the students below heard their exchange clearly. Some, emboldened by the concept that the law doesn't punish the masses, hid in the crowd and started booing vehemently.
When one person rebels in such a manner, it quickly incites a second, and then a third.
In no time, the little auditorium was filled with boos and curses.
Director Qian, enraged by the humiliation, snatched the microphone and roared back, "What are you yelling about? No one is leaving here! Everyone gets a demerit!"
Instantly, the auditorium fell silent. Director Qian looked down at the audience with imposing, arrogant authority, feeling utterly invincible.
But this calm was short-lived. Suddenly, the students below erupted like a violent, raging torrent, letting out whistles and curses sharp enough to pierce eardrums. Some even began throwing personal belongings onto the stage to pelt Director Qian.
Director Qian immediately ducked, clutching his head, and scrambled off the stage. Reaching the doorway, he turned, stomped his foot, and stared at the rebellious students filling the hall. He opened his mouth, presumably to deliver some final, authoritative words, when he suddenly saw a dense, black wave of garbage hurtling toward him.
Director Qian flinched violently, turned, and fled.
Seeing Director Qian’s clumsy retreat, the students in the small hall burst into uproarious laughter. They turned toward Li Yundong on the stage, who was still dumbfounded, and started cheering and applauding wildly. Some even whistled.
Li Yundong was torn between laughter and tears. He picked up the microphone and coughed dryly. "Classmates..."
He only managed three words before the students in the hall erupted in excited, fervent noise again.
These were, after all, the most ordinary, unremarkable students, who had expected their university life to drift by in a bland haze, becoming a memory devoid of color.
But now they realized Li Yundong's presence had injected vibrant color into their campus existence. Although things associated with Li Yundong were usually not good—and often involved violence—for students bored with the monotony, it was enough excitement to provide endless topics for gossip.
Today’s events had stirred them up even more. Furthermore, students are inherently hot-blooded and impulsive, and feeling protected by the sheer number of people present, they spontaneously engaged in this act of "rebellion."
Li Yundong’s previous exploits, though frightening and shocking when heard secondhand, had inspired deep awe among the students of Tiannan University due to the abilities he displayed, making them hesitant to approach him. After all, not everyone could fight like Li Yundong!
But by publicly screening a pornographic film in the auditorium, these students suddenly realized: Oh, this guy is just like us. He's vulgar, lewd! And I like it!
Li Yundong was caught in a dilemma by the roar of the hall. He awkwardly raised his hand and lowered his voice. "Ahem, classmates, please settle down. Today was an accident. I didn't mean to play this film."
A male student immediately shouted from below, "Right! I believe you didn't mean to!"
Li Yundong looked at him gratefully. There are still good people and justice in this world!
But then the same student loudly proclaimed, "I believe you did mean to!"
At this, the entire auditorium erupted in roars of laughter.
Li Yundong was so frustrated he nearly vomited blood, cursing internally: This kind of thing could only happen at a second-rate university like this! What kind of weirdos are these!
Once the students in the hall quieted down slightly, Li Yundong continued, "In any case, today was an accident. I truly did not intend to do this, nor was it deliberate..."
Hearing this, the students below started giggling again.
Li Yundong said, "Everything today is entirely my fault. It has nothing to do with Senior Feng Na; I mistakenly gave her the wrong disc. I must ask everyone here to please testify to this fact later."
Although the students didn't know why Li Yundong would mix up discs, they enthusiastically agreed, all grinning widely with excited expressions.
Li Yundong continued, "Whatever punishment the school gives me, I will accept it. But I hope the students won't cause trouble; it wouldn't be good if it affected your studies! Well, that's all I have to say."
Saying that, he put down the microphone, took Su Chan's hand, and quickly walked toward the exit of the small auditorium.
As he left, the students in the hall seemed to ignore his previous words, becoming even more boisterous, clapping and cheering as if Li Yundong had performed some magnificent heroic feat.
Cheng Cheng stared after Li Yundong's retreating figure, dumbfounded, and giggled, "No way. Showing an R-rated movie gets you that kind of reception? That’s completely unbelievable!"
Feng Na gazed after Li Yundong’s silhouette and sighed softly, "Because he is Li Yundong."
As the two women were marveling, Director Qian suddenly returned, followed by several burly, large-framed campus security guards.
Director Qian stood with his hands on his hips, shouting fiercely, "Where is Li Yundong? Where is Li Yundong!"
A bold student yelled from the crowd, "He’s dead!"
Director Qian froze. "Dead? Impossible, he was just kicking a moment ago! Did he commit suicide out of guilt?"
Hearing this, the students immediately began booing again.
A student hiding in the crowd shouted, "Some people are dead, but they are still alive; some people are alive, but they are already dead!"
The famous quote by Zang Kejia sent the students in the small auditorium into another wave of roaring laughter, and a fresh barrage of boos descended upon Director Qian like a tidal wave.
Red-faced with shame and anger, Director Qian stomped his foot and furiously ordered the guards behind him, "Arrest them all! Don't let a single one escape! Record every student's ID number!"
This command was too harsh, and the students immediately erupted in an uproar.
A student rallied the crowd: "He wants to round us all up! Brothers and sisters, charge! Rush toward the exit!"
As the words fell, the five hundred-plus students in the small hall surged toward Director Qian at the entrance like a tidal wave.
Director Qian’s face turned pale with terror, his calves trembling uncontrollably. But he still tried to maintain his authoritative posture as a Dean of Discipline, pointing at the leading students and shouting, "Hey! You, stop right there!"
As he spoke, he turned to instruct the guards to subdue the audacious students.
But when he looked back, he saw that the security guards had already been scared off and were scrambling outside the doorway.
Director Qian inwardly cried out in distress, wishing he could curse the guards who had abandoned him. But then he abruptly remembered his usual habit of sacrificing others to save himself—he was always the first to flee.
Could this be retribution? That was the only thought that flashed through Director Qian’s mind before he was submerged by the torrent of students behind him. His mid-level bureaucrat haircut vanished instantly beneath the dense sea of people.
After the students had all run out of the hall, the security guards who had fled earlier cautiously gathered around, staring at Director Qian, who was covered in footprints, and exchanged bewildered glances.
"Is he... still alive?" One guard tentatively poked Director Qian’s flabby abdomen and asked weakly.
"M-maybe?" The other guard looked at the dense layer of footprints covering Director Qian and winced, feeling an ache ripple through his own body.
Yesterday's weekend result was eighth place. This week I will release three chapters: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Please look forward to it~
