Li Yundong visibly froze when he opened the door. Zhou Qin tilted her head, looking at him with a smile. "Surprised?"
Li Yundong chuckled, "Not at all. You're the only one who knows where I live. Come in. Are you here to tell me I'm going on TV or to a courtroom?"
Zhou Qin smiled. "Still cracking jokes at a time like this! You forgot your school bag. I brought it for you." As she spoke, she produced a black backpack from behind her.
Li Yundong slapped his forehead. "Oh, thank you! Please, come in, come in."
Zhou Qin remained at the threshold, not entering. She said, "No, I have something else to attend to."
Li Yundong looked slightly embarrassed. "So busy? Not even staying for a seat?"
Zhou Qin shook her head. "I really do have things to take care of."
As Li Yundong watched Zhou Qin turn to leave, he suddenly called out, "Zhou Qin!"
She stopped and turned back. "Yes?"
Li Yundong paused in thought for a moment, then asked, "Aren't you curious about what happened today?"
Zhou Qin offered a faint smile. "If you want to tell me, you will." With that, she waved her hand and said to Li Yundong, "I'm leaving now. Oh, and don't worry, no one will bother you."
Li Yundong knew Zhou Qin’s nature: if she didn't speak, she wouldn't say anything, but once she spoke, it meant she was shouldering the entire weight of the day's events alone. He smiled gratefully. "I've caused you trouble again."
Zhou Qin laughed. "Don't say that between friends. By the way, why is your phone always turned off?"
Li Yundong suddenly remembered he still had his phone!
He managed a wry smile. "Do you think I can turn it on? The last time I gave out my number, the moment I switched it on, it would be bombarded with calls!"
Zhou Qin covered her mouth and laughed. "Looks like you need a new number." After saying that, she gave him a bright smile, finally waved goodbye, and walked into the elevator.
Li Yundong watched Zhou Qin depart, then shut the door, spreading his hands towards Su Chan and sighing, "I owe her another favor! Ah, the kindness of a beauty is the hardest to repay!"
Su Chan gazed at Li Yundong with wide, anxious eyes. "You won't dump me for her, will you?"
Li Yundong laughed heartily, pulling the little girl close and tapping her nose. "Why are you so insecure about me all day? Am I that kind of person? Of the three thousand waters, I only drink from one! Having you by my side is more than enough for me! Speaking of which, didn't you always try to push me towards her? Why aren't you pushing today?"
Su Chan, with her childlike temperament, worried quickly and forgot just as fast. Her eyes instantly curved into crescent moons again. She wrapped her arms around Li Yundong's waist and giggled, "You are mine alone! No one else can have you!"
Li Yundong indulgently patted the little girl's head. "Yes, yes, I'm all yours!"
As he said this, a thought suddenly struck him, and he chuckled slyly. "Hey, want to watch a movie?"
Su Chan saw the ambiguous way Li Yundong was smiling and giggled back, "Not watching! You're smiling so wickedly, it must be something bad!"
Li Yundong’s face stiffened. "Nonsense! How could the famous figure of our university Student Union, Miss Feng Na, watch something like that!"
Saying that, he fumbled through his bag and pulled out the DVD he had skillfully coerced from Feng Na that morning, grinning wickedly. "Heh heh, wanna see?"
Su Chan vigorously shook her head, laughing softly, trying to run but was caught by Li Yundong’s swift grab.
Li Yundong held the little girl with one hand and inserted the DVD into the player with the other, his mischievous grin widening. "Little miss, stop struggling. Just surrender to this great master!"
Su Chan burst into giggles, covering her eyes with her hands and shouting loudly, "I won't watch! I won't watch! You're too mean!"
Li Yundong saw that although the little girl was covering her eyes, her fingers were spread wide apart, blocking nothing. He laughed out loud, wrapping his arm around her waist, ready to watch the film.
But as soon as the first frame appeared on the screen, Li Yundong was deeply disappointed. "Tch! Big-Mouth Guo Furong!! Days Living with an Air Hostess! Damn it, these two women made such a big secret out of a film like this? Are you kidding me!"
Li Yundong was furious. He had expected an erotic film and had wrestled it from a tiger's jaws, only to find it was a completely legitimate soap opera!
"Alas, a miscalculation, a total miscalculation!" Li Yundong sighed mournfully.
Seeing Su Chan chuckling behind him, Li Yundong turned and couldn't help but laugh in exasperation. "Why are you still covering your eyes? Can you open the gap between your fingers any wider? Hey, speaking of which, I have another copy of Days Living with an Air Hostess in my room. Want to watch it with me?"
Su Chan saw Li Yundong’s mischievous smile and teased, "No way!"
Li Yundong said with waning interest, "Forget it then. You watch it yourself. I’m going to surf the net for a bit."
Su Chan loved watching these kinds of soap operas. She lowered her hands, hugged Li Yundong tightly, and insisted, "You’re not leaving! You have to watch it with me!"
The tables had turned. Li Yundong pleaded for mercy. "My little ancestor, please let me off! Forcing me to watch this soap opera is worse than killing me!"
Su Chan pouted, clearly displeased.
Li Yundong pinched her cheek. "Alright, alright, I'll let go. I'll go make you dinner. Is that good enough now?"
Only then did Su Chan beam, her frown gone, and nodded obediently.
After they finished dinner, Li Yundong spent some time online in his room. While logging into the anonymous forum, he discovered that the school forum was in an uproar again. The hottest and brightest thread was about the sudden incident outside the school gate after classes that day.
Li Yundong clicked in out of curiosity. He found that the person who wrote the post had vividly described the entire beginning and progress of the event. However, because the description was too vivid and lifelike, many who hadn't witnessed the scene expressed severe doubt.
"How could such a thing possibly happen in this world?"
This was the most common question from the doubters.
Although many people saw the event outside the school gate, far more people did not. Humans have an interesting trait: when they hear of something they cannot comprehend, they invariably try to deny its existence.
What made Li Yundong most helpless was that the post even included a video shot on a mobile phone!
"It's over, this is going to be huge!" Li Yundong clicked into the post speechlessly. He discovered that the video quality from the phone was poor, and the footage shook so violently that after just a few seconds, it became unbearable to watch. The comments beneath the post were filled with insults and mockery.
"The person who filmed this is so unprofessional!"
"What is this recording? It's useless! My eyes are spinning!"
"Damn, the OP didn't inherit even a fraction of Brother Guanxi's skill!"
"Hong Kong's professional photographer Guanxi sincerely recruits mainland students. Contact number: 138432352, Contact person: Ah Jiao."
The various comments made Li Yundong laugh heartily, and the anxiety gripping his heart finally eased. He shut down the computer and walked out of the bedroom, only to find the little girl was still watching the soap opera!
Li Yundong was torn between laughter and tears. "Hey, are you addicted? I need to practice my Qi. Can you clear the area? Don't you see what time it is!"
Li Yundong had already developed the habit of practicing Qi; now that he knew the cultivation he practiced could lead to immortality, he was naturally highly motivated and even more diligent.
The little fox turned her head, pouting. "But I haven't finished watching!"
Li Yundong took the disc out, handed it to the little girl, and ushered her into his room. "There’s a TV and DVD player in my room too. You can watch it there. Do you know how to operate it?"
The little fox immediately switched from being annoyed to delighted. "Hmph, of course, I do!"
Li Yundong cautioned, "Hey, don't break the disc, alright? I borrowed it from Feng Na!"
The little fox made a face at him. "Got it!"
Li Yundong smiled and shook his head. He sat cross-legged in the living room facing east, his hands positioned with the tips of his thumbs and ring fingers touching, palms facing up, resting on his thighs, and slowly entered a deep state of meditation.
In the bedroom, Su Chan watched the soap opera obsessively until dawn broke. She suddenly startled herself awake, realizing she had watched the whole thing through the night!
The playful and ordinary love story between the male and female leads captivated her. Especially their cohabitation life, which made Su Chan involuntarily think of her own life with Li Yundong.
The little girl ejected the disc from the player, tossed it onto the bed, and then lay down next to Li Yundong’s sleeping form, feeling deeply conflicted.
On one hand, she worried whether Ruan Hongling would continue to target her and Li Yundong. On the other hand, she worried if Lin Youfa would come looking for trouble again in the future.
But if she left this place, she was reluctant to go!
Besides, it was unheard of for cultivators to immediately pack up and move just because an enemy showed up!
A good cultivation spot was hard to find, and a cultivator would never abandon it unless absolutely forced to.
Of course, what troubled her the most was her own identity. What if Li Yundong found out? Would he really leave her?
"H-He probably wouldn't, right?" the little girl worried, her heart pounding.
But when something involves oneself, confusion reigns. Su Chan recalled the seriousness in Li Yundong's previous tone, and she couldn't help but feel uneasy.
The more the little girl thought, the more entangled she became. As she tossed and turned, she suddenly heard a crack.
Su Chan froze, sat up, and looked under her elbow... the disc had shattered into two pieces!
Su Chan shot upright, eyes wide, and stammered, "This, this thing isn't that fragile, is it?"
She tried to bring the two halves of the disc together. When she managed to align them, it looked almost perfectly intact, but the moment she let go, the disc clattered to the floor.
Su Chan stood up with a crestfallen face. "What am I going to do? Yundong specifically told me not to break the disc! I’m done for, I’m going to get a beating!"
As fate would have it, Li Yundong was just emerging from his meditative state. He called out loudly from the living room, "Su Chan, are you awake? Time to get up for breakfast and class!"
Su Chan instantly darted around the room like an ant on a hot pan. "It's over, it's over, it's all over!"
Li Yundong pushed the door open, poked his head in, and paused when he saw Su Chan's distressed appearance. "Don't tell me you haven't slept all night!"
Su Chan managed a strained smile. "N-No, just got up!"
Li Yundong noticed her odd appearance and assumed she was just groggy from just waking up. He withdrew his head, a little dismissively, and knocked on the door. "Hurry up, we need to leave!"
Su Chan mumbled an assent. In her haste, as she rushed past the bedside, she knocked over the nightstand, sending a cascade of books crashing to the floor.
Su Chan quickly crouched down to pick up the books. As she was frantically gathering them, she suddenly spotted another disc on the floor, with the words Days Living with an Air Hostess written on it.
The little girl was stunned. "Could it be this coincidental?"
Li Yundong called from the doorway again, "Hey, you haven't fallen back asleep, have you?"
Su Chan called back in a fluster, "Coming, coming!" She swiftly stuffed the broken disc under the bed, grabbed the intact disc with the writing on it, and walked out of the room with forced composure.
