The Daoist master’s attire was so peculiar, and to be wandering about so late carrying such a large trunk—surely that wouldn't frighten the children? Liu Hui feigned ignorance. This Taoist's outfit was utterly bizarre; instead of a whisk, he carried a huge coffin on his back. Yet, he moved with surprising lightness, his body brimming with explosive energy, clearly possessing formidable power, so Liu Hui spoke to test the waters.
"Liu Hui, my humble Daoist name is Gu Yuezi, and I hail from the Maoshan Sect. The purpose of my visit today is to kill you." The Daoist named Gu Yuezi stated his intent clearly and concisely.
"You plan to kill me, Master Daoist? This is Hong Kong, a place governed by law; we don't settle scores privately through murder. This isn't the Jianghu you imagine. If you persist, I’ll have to call the police," Liu Hui chuckled. Xiao Hei was currently lurking submerged in the seawater by the coast. With the formidable combat support of Xiao Hei, Liu Hui felt absolutely no fear of this strange Daoist, so he began to tease him.
"Since this humble Daoist has sworn to kill you, then no one in this world can save you. However, before you die, I can answer a few of your questions so you can die an informed ghost, lest you face Yama without even knowing the identity of your foe," Gu Yuezi said coldly.
"Master Daoist, isn't your Maoshan Sect considered a reputable, orthodox sect? When did you turn into an assassination organization?" Liu Hui asked out of curiosity.
"Although this humble Daoist originated from the Maoshan Sect, I have already left it. I now belong to no sect or school, so my actions have no bearing on the Maoshan Sect," Gu Yuezi appeared genuinely intent on letting Liu Hui die informed. In his mind, Liu Hui certainly wouldn't survive the night, and the dead, no matter how much they knew, couldn't divulge secrets.
"Oh, so you were expelled from the Maoshan Sect. May I ask why you've come to kill me?" Liu Hui inquired.
"I take payment for services rendered, to resolve others' troubles. Naturally, I kill for money," Gu Yuezi stated flatly.
"If I offer you double the price, can you forgo killing me?" Liu Hui asked. Gu Yuezi carried a peculiar aura that made Liu Hui slightly wary. Liu Hui wished to avoid an unnecessary fight with him, so he tentatively tried to buy him off with money.
"Though this humble Daoist appreciates wealth, I am also a man of my word. Since I accepted a commission, I must see it through. Thus, I cannot accept your offer," Gu Yuezi shook his head.
"Master Daoist, may I know who wants me dead?" Liu Hui pressed.
"I can tell you that. You helped the Old Superman of the Li family in Hong Kong, disrupting someone's plan to amass wealth. That is why they sent me to kill you. When you reach the underworld, you must remember this," Gu Yuezi replied, truly telling Liu Hui everything he knew, holding nothing back.
Liu Hui laughed, "Master Daoist, why are you so certain you can kill me today?"
"The information provided to me claimed you were an ordinary person, but in reality, you are a master. I just sensed a powerful aura from you, even though you hid it well. But this point is not crucial. I’ve killed countless individuals far stronger than you. Killing you will only require slightly more effort; it won't be an issue. You always hide within your company and rarely come out. Today, I finally caught you alone, an opportunity I wouldn't miss," Gu Yuezi explained.
Liu Hui chuckled, "Many people have wanted to kill me, Master Daoist, but ultimately, they are the ones who died. Today will be no different for you. Come, let me see what the power of your Maoshan Sect truly amounts to." With Xiao Hei guarding him, Liu Hui was utterly fearless. Feeling cheerful recently, he decided to let Gu Yuezi unleash whatever techniques he possessed.
"Since you now understand why you must die, I shall commence. Wúliàng Tiānzūn (Boundless Celestial Venerable)," Gu Yuezi bowed deeply, performing a ritualistic salute.
Liu Hui immediately channeled his Gong (internal energy) throughout his body, cautiously bracing for Gu Yuezi's attack.
Before Gu Yuezi could straighten from his bow, he tensed the muscles on his back, and the large coffin carried there shot skyward. Then, with lightning speed, he pulled out a talisman. He chanted, "Supreme Elder Lord, hasten as the law commands, Ji!" and pointed with his hand. The talisman immediately flew upward and stuck itself onto the coffin still suspended in mid-air. A streak of crimson light flashed across the coffin, enveloping it. With a 'thud,' the coffin lid sprang open, and a tall, dark silhouette leaped out, standing rigidly before Liu Hui. The coffin then landed on the ground, settling perfectly in front of Gu Yuezi. A wave of fetid stench billowed out, sickening enough to cause vomiting, just as the lid dropped and sealed itself seamlessly back onto the box.
Liu Hui was momentarily stunned. When he saw the coffin on Gu Yuezi’s back, he assumed the Daoist was merely being eccentric and mysterious. He hadn't expected the coffin to actually contain a corpse, especially since that corpse was now standing ramrod straight before him. The faint smell of decay he had noticed earlier must have come from this entity. Liu Hui then remembered Gu Yuezi’s Maoshan Sect origins; the sect had always dealt with corpses and spirits, so the presence of a dead body was not entirely surprising.
"Liu Hui, you are privileged. You are about to die by the hand of the Silver Armored Zombie, refined by our Maoshan Sect through a thousand years of arduous effort," Gu Yuezi regarded Liu Hui with the gaze of a man already deceased.
The Silver Armored Zombie stood before Liu Hui, covered in protective talismans. It was massive, easily two meters tall, radiating a silvery luminescence. Although it had been dead for a long time, its musculature had not entirely decayed. The zombie was expressionless, its eyes vacant as it stared at Liu Hui. The muscles on its face had begun to rot, giving it an exceptionally eerie appearance.
"So this is the Silver Armored Zombie. It doesn't look like much—just shining silver light all over. Did you dress it in silver-plated armor?" Although Liu Hui found the zombie terrifying, he didn't sense any immediate threat from it. Combined with his feeling of sure victory, he wasn't overly concerned and even took the time to observe it. After all, zombies were something you usually only saw in movies, not something one expected to encounter in reality.
"Truly, the ignorant are fearless," Gu Yuezi sighed.
Just as Liu Hui was about to speak, another talisman flew from Gu Yuezi's hand and adhered to the Silver Armored Zombie. Gu Yuezi loudly chanted: "Heaven and Earth without limit, the orthodox law of Maoshan. Silver Armored Zombie, hunt the soul and seize the spirit!"
The Silver Armored Zombie, which had been standing dumbly before Liu Hui, suddenly radiated a powerful aura. Its gaze sharpened, fixing menacingly on Liu Hui, and it then charged towards him with terrifying speed.
"Son of a—who said zombies move slowly? This thing runs faster than Bolt!" Liu Hui exclaimed in shock, quickly backing away while simultaneously pulling a pistol from his storage space. This pistol was loaded with rounds inscribed with the Ice Condensation Formation. As he retreated, Liu Hui aimed and fired an ice-elemental round.
The Silver Armored Zombie paid no mind to the ice round, but caught completely off guard, it was struck. The ice energy contained within the bullet immediately activated, instantly freezing the zombie solid into a massive block of ice, immobilizing it on the spot.
"Hahaha, your Silver Armored Zombie is nothing special..." Liu Hui laughed heartily. But before his laughter finished, he saw a yellow talisman stuck to the zombie flash. The ice block that held the zombie suddenly developed large fissures. With a powerful struggle, the Silver Armored Zombie actually burst free from the ice and continued to sprint towards Liu Hui as if nothing had happened.
Liu Hui was alarmed. His typically reliable ice rounds had proven ineffective. He rapidly retreated again and fired another ice round at the zombie. This time, the bullet struck, but it didn't even manage to freeze the surface; it seemed the yellow talisman on the zombie was already active, directly nullifying Liu Hui's ice attack. The ice round could no longer inflict any damage.
Liu Hui continued to retreat rapidly while switching to another pistol from his storage space. This one was filled with Hellfire rounds. Liu Hui began firing these at the Silver Armored Zombie. The Hellfire rounds struck the zombie, causing violent explosions on its body and igniting it in roaring flames. The zombie thrashed within the inferno, letting out continuous screams of agony.
Gu Yuezi once again reached into his robes and pulled out a talisman, chanting: "Heaven and Earth without limit, the orthodox law of Maoshan. Maoshan Talisman, suppress the ghosts and subdue the demons." He tossed the talisman towards the Silver Armored Zombie, and it landed squarely on its body. Instantly, the raging fires engulfing the zombie vanished without a trace.
The Silver Armored Zombie roared in fury, its still-smoking body lunging toward Liu Hui. Liu Hui froze for a moment, then immediately fired Hellfire rounds again. However, because Gu Yuezi had pasted a talisman onto the zombie, the Hellfire rounds failed to have any effect this time; they didn't even explode upon impact. The bullets struck the zombie's surface but couldn't even penetrate the outer skin. Liu Hui couldn't fathom what method the Maoshan Sect used to forge the zombie’s body to be harder than steel.
The Silver Armored Zombie seized the opportunity of Liu Hui’s distraction to close the distance, lunging for his throat. The fingernails on the zombie's fingers extended like steel blades. If they made contact with Liu Hui's throat, they would surely carve a hole through it, leading to Liu Hui's immediate death. Gu Yuezi, directing the zombie from behind, allowed a satisfied smirk to cross his lips.
Just as the Silver Armored Zombie was about to grasp Liu Hui's throat, Liu Hui’s body moved in a bizarre, sudden series of shakes, allowing him to retreat a full step backward, just out of range of the zombie’s claws. Unexpectedly, the zombie’s arm suddenly elongated, stretching like rubber to double its original length, its deadly claws still reaching for Liu Hui's throat. Gu Yuezi watched coldly, certain that Liu Hui would surrender his soul in this blow. But then, a ray of red light suddenly erupted from Liu Hui’s body, blocking the Silver Armored Zombie’s attack and preventing the claws from piercing him.
It turned out that the Radiant Light Armor on Liu Hui’s body had activated its protective function, deflecting the zombie's strike. Liu Hui was furious. He retreated at high speed, putting significant distance between himself and the zombie’s close-range attack. Seeing the red light from Liu Hui’s armor repel the zombie’s assault, Gu Yuezi was momentarily startled, causing a lapse that allowed Liu Hui to escape the immediate grapple.
"What is that thing? It's incredibly powerful!" Liu Hui stood at a distance, his heart still pounding from the shock.
"So you may know, this is a Silver Armored Zombie, refined using our Maoshan Sect's supreme mystical art—the Maoshan Corpse Refining Technique. This zombie was subdued by our sect’s founder in the tomb of a general in Mount Beimang. Legend says he was a great general in life, unmatched in martial prowess, having slain over ten thousand enemies. After being continuously refined by countless generations of Maoshan ancestors over a thousand years, and consuming vast quantities of precious resources, it has been forged into a Silver Armored Zombie. While this type of zombie is hard as steel all over, it can be as pliable as rubber when necessary—its uses are truly infinite. Our Maoshan Sect has used it to eliminate countless enemies. Even within the Maoshan Sect, there is only one such zombie. You unleashed that extremely cold and explosively fiery ammunition just now—I don't know what those bullets are, but I must inform you that this Silver Armored Zombie bears talismans specifically designed to counteract such things, rendering your bullets completely ineffective. Therefore, once this Silver Armored Zombie is deployed, no one in this world can escape its pursuit. Do you now understand the source of my confidence? I advise you to surrender quickly and let the zombie take you away with a single grab. It will save trouble and my supply of talismans," Gu Yuezi said calmly. Victorious and in good spirits, he even took the time to explain the origin of the Silver Armored Zombie in detail to Liu Hui.
"Who said I'm surrendering? While I can't kill this zombie, you are certainly no match for it," Liu Hui smiled, suddenly turning the muzzle of his gun toward Gu Yuezi and pulling the trigger.
Gu Yuezi stamped his foot, activating a cyan talisman stuck to his shoe. His figure instantly moved with ghostly swiftness. The bullets Liu Hui fired were all dodged; the Hellfire round exploded harmlessly, leaving a large crater where he had been standing.
Liu Hui shifted his aim back to Gu Yuezi, but unexpectedly, the Silver Armored Zombie beside him lunged forward. It struck toward Liu Hui's head with a swipe. Liu Hui was forced to withdraw his pistol, leaping onto a tall tree to evade the zombie’s pursuit. The zombie charged fiercely, its two arms swinging like iron clubs against the thick, bowl-sized tree trunk. The tree instantly cracked and snapped in half, sending Liu Hui tumbling back to the ground.
The Silver Armored Zombie strode forward in pursuit. Liu Hui grinned and shouted, "Xiao Hei, where are you?"
Immediately, a splash erupted from the seawater nearby, sending a plume of water into the air. A colossal black shadow burst from the water and shot toward the Silver Armored Zombie. Caught completely by surprise, the zombie was instantly entangled and sent rolling onto the ground, unable to move. It was Xiao Hei, who had appeared suddenly to subdue the Silver Armored Zombie. This Gu Yuezi seemed formidable; Liu Hui realized he couldn't handle him without relying on Xiao Hei, so he deployed his ultimate weapon. Xiao Hei lived up to expectations, making a dramatic entrance and pinning the Silver Armored Zombie with a single move.
Gu Yuezi, standing not far off, was momentarily dumbfounded. Liu Hui stood up and laughed, "Master Daoist, do you still have the confidence to kill me now?"
"Mere parlor tricks. That is nothing more than a large sea snake, trained somewhere to obey your commands. Nevertheless, you cannot escape death today," Gu Yuezi recovered quickly after his brief shock. He pulled out another talisman from his robes, tossed it into the air, and rapidly chanted: "Supreme Elder Lord, hasten as the law commands, dispel the seal, restore true nature, Ji!"
The talisman burned rapidly in the air, and a point of red light shot out, piercing the forehead of the Silver Armored Zombie on the ground. The zombie’s eyes instantly turned blood-red, and an even more violent aura erupted from its body.
"Roar..." The zombie roared, struggling so forcefully that it managed to push Xiao Hei’s body back slightly, wrenching itself free from the constricting coils. Xiao Hei, momentarily caught off guard, was forced back by the explosive burst of strength emanating from the Silver Armored Zombie.
Liu Hui was greatly alarmed, not expecting the Silver Armored Zombie to possess such tremendous power. He commanded Xiao Hei to attack the zombie again while simultaneously opening fire with his pistol toward Gu Yuezi, hoping to eliminate the Daoist. Without Gu Yuezi's direction, the zombie should be easier to handle.
The talisman stuck to Gu Yuezi’s shoe continued to function, granting him incredible speed. Although Liu Hui was an excellent marksman, he couldn't land a hit under these circumstances. As Liu Hui kept firing, he exhausted all his Hellfire rounds without striking Gu Yuezi. He decisively switched to another gun from his storage space.
Gu Yuezi possessed rich combat experience. He didn't know how Liu Hui produced such powerful bullets, but aided by the talisman, he managed to dodge every single one. Seeing Liu Hui cease fire, he knew Liu Hui's ammunition was spent. Seizing this rare opportunity, he suddenly leaped toward the large coffin, quickly throwing open the lid. He retrieved a longbow and two long arrows from inside. He quickly nocked an arrow and shot it toward Liu Hui.
Liu Hui was in the process of switching guns. Relying on the protection of the Radiant Light Armor, he made no attempt to dodge, allowing the arrow to strike him. However, after the arrow hit, he immediately regretted his decision. Although the Radiant Light Armor blocked the arrow, the protective energy on the armor was instantly depleted by half, and the red light dimmed significantly. Liu Hui was shocked; he hadn't realized this arrow held such devastating power—it had nearly shattered his defense.
Liu Hui was surprised, but Gu Yuezi was even more astonished. The arrow he had just loosed was also a supreme treasure of the Maoshan Sect, imbued with an inescapable armor-piercing force. Nothing should be able to withstand its attack, yet it had been blocked by the red light emanating from Liu Hui’s body.
Liu Hui quickly finished switching guns and resumed firing at Gu Yuezi, who scrambled to evade. But as Gu Yuezi dodged frantically, the color of the talisman on his shoe grew dimmer and dimmer. It was clear the energy on the talisman was about to dissipate completely. The moment his speed faltered, he was certain to be struck by Liu Hui's Hellfire rounds, which would mean certain death.
Gu Yuezi was filled with regret. He felt he shouldn't have accepted this contract. Liu Hui’s strength before him was unfathomable, and his methods endless. Even after deploying his powerful Silver Armored Zombie and using so many top-grade talismans, he hadn't managed to kill Liu Hui, and now he himself was in grave danger.
Meanwhile, Xiao Hei and the Silver Armored Zombie clashed again. Since the seal within its body was broken, the Silver Armored Zombie possessed immense strength, able to directly withstand Xiao Hei’s assaults. Xiao Hei bit down on the zombie, but when it squeezed, it found it couldn't damage the zombie in the slightest. Likewise, the zombie's razor-sharp claws could not penetrate Xiao Hei's scales when they raked across its body. Xiao Hei’s tail whipped against the zombie, yet the creature barely flinched, instead using its powerful arm strikes to force Xiao Hei backward repeatedly.
Gu Yuezi was forced to run constantly from Liu Hui, rendering him unable to control the Silver Armored Zombie. The zombie's movements were dictated purely by instinct, leading to a momentary flaw. Xiao Hei spotted the opening and, with lightning speed, wrapped its tail around the Silver Armored Zombie once more. The zombie struggled desperately, and Xiao Hei squeezed tighter. They tumbled across the ground, the sheer impact knocking down numerous trees in the forest. The area they rolled over became a clearing, but neither side could gain a decisive advantage over the other for the moment.
Liu Hui continued firing at Gu Yuezi while pulling another pistol from his storage space. He fired from both weapons simultaneously, forcing Gu Yuezi into a perilous situation where his defeat seemed imminent. Gu Yuezi suddenly made a firm decision, stopping his movement. Liu Hui’s Hellfire round immediately struck his body, and the violent fire-attribute energy exploded violently upon impact.
Liu Hui felt a surge of elation; he had finally managed to strike Gu Yuezi. Yet, he hadn't anticipated that Gu Yuezi possessed protective treasures. Those two Lie Huo Dan (Blazing Fire Pellets) merely destroyed his protective artifact and set Gu Yuezi’s body alight. Gu Yuezi seized the perfect opportunity presented by Liu Hui’s momentary slackening, swiftly firing another long arrow. Liu Hui, unable to evade in time, was struck. The crimson light covering his body vanished instantly; the protective energy of the Hong Guang Kai Jia (Crimson Light Armor) was completely depleted.
Liu Hui was alarmed, never expecting Gu Yuezi to possess so many unexpected means. With one lapse in attention, he had allowed the energy of his protective armor to be entirely exhausted. However, Gu Yuezi also appeared to be in a sorry state; his entire body was scorched black by the flames, his eyebrows and beard entirely gone, leaving him utterly wretched. Gu Yuezi hadn't foreseen Liu Hui being so tenacious, forcing him to deploy even his life-saving measures without succeeding in killing Liu Hui.
Liu Hui re-focused his mind, moving rapidly while firing at Gu Yuezi. Now without the protection of the Hong Guang Kai Jia, he dared not remain stationary. Gu Yuezi, having exhausted his means to harm Liu Hui and now being pursued, had no choice but to continue his high-speed flight. He had considered fleeing, but the Yin Jia Jiang Shi (Silver Armor Zombie) was currently entangled on the ground, unable to escape. He simply couldn't bear to abandon the Silver Armor Zombie, which his entire sect had painstakingly refined for over a thousand years.
Seeing that he still couldn't land a decisive blow on Gu Yuezi, and realizing Gu Yuezi had used his most powerful armor-piercing arrows, Liu Hui quietly shifted his focus to Xiao Hei. The moment he guided Xiao Hei, the creature's combat power surged dramatically.
Xiao Hei wrapped its tail around the Silver Armor Zombie, inverted it so its head faced downward, and slammed it violently against the reef by the seashore, producing a deafening thud. The seaside reefs were incredibly hard, and the Silver Armor Zombie, with its body of bronze skin and iron bones, showed no damage from this massive impact, even sparking as it scraped against the stone.
Xiao Hei continued to lift the Silver Armor Zombie and smash it against the reef. This time, the zombie seemed momentarily stunned; its resistance weakened significantly. Liu Hui was delighted and controlled Xiao Hei to relentlessly pound the Silver Armor Zombie on the reef. After several more blows, even the zombie’s bronze skin and iron bones couldn't withstand it, and its power to resist waned further.
Gu Yuezi fled while constantly monitoring the Silver Armor Zombie's condition. Seeing it completely subjected to attack, he realized the situation was turning perilous and was instantly horrified. However, under the threat of Liu Hui’s Lie Huo Dan, he dared not stop to direct the zombie’s counterattack. The current dynamics were becoming increasingly unfavorable for Gu Yuezi.
After Xiao Hei smashed the Silver Armor Zombie against the reef several more times, its head finally cracked open. The talismans covering its body began to rupture, and its strength dwindled. With Xiao Hei’s final strike, the zombie’s head was driven completely into its own torso. The Silver Armor Zombie instantly lost all power, going limp without any further resistance.
Witnessing the Silver Armor Zombie destroyed by Xiao Hei, Gu Yuezi let out a mournful cry and finally resolved to flee. Utilizing the remaining efficacy of the talismans on his feet, he dashed rapidly into the distance. Liu Hui lacked Gu Yuezi's speed, and even as he fled, Gu Yuezi's body constantly weaved and swayed, making it impossible for Liu Hui to aim and fire accurately. Therefore, Liu Hui commanded Xiao Hei to discard the Silver Armor Zombie and pursue Gu Yuezi.
Xiao Hei could reach three hundred kilometers per hour in the ocean, but surprisingly, its speed on land was even faster. Although the talismans on Gu Yuezi’s shoes were still active, they couldn't match Xiao Hei’s pace. Xiao Hei instantly caught up to Gu Yuezi, opened its jaws, and clamped down, lifting Gu Yuezi. With a powerful wrench in mid-air, it bit Gu Yuezi in half. Gu Yuezi only managed to utter a single shriek before his life faded.
Liu Hui finally let out a breath of relief. He hadn't expected the seemingly unremarkable Gu Yuezi to be so difficult to handle; he was arguably the most challenging enemy Liu Hui had ever faced. Even Augustus, the Grand Inquisitor of the Vatican, hadn't been this formidable—Augustus was eliminated immediately upon Xiao Hei’s arrival. For Gu Yuezi to still possess the power to resist even after Liu Hui deployed Xiao Hei was a testament to his astonishing martial prowess.
Before Liu Hui could fully relax, a jade talisman on Gu Yuezi’s corpse suddenly exploded. A streak of light flew out from the talisman and drilled into Xiao Hei’s body, forming a skull insignia on Xiao Hei's forehead.
Super Chapter of 7200 characters. I originally planned to release this in two parts, but considering the continuity of the reading experience, I decided to post it all at once. I hope everyone enjoys it V
