"Ah, Lili, wait up for me!" the newly rich man glanced back longingly toward the kitchen, as if trying to see Su Chan through the thick wall, before chasing after Lili's retreating figure.

The landlady froze, dumbfounded. She had been expecting a sugar daddy she could really fleece, but now that entire prospect had evaporated!

"Good thing I’m slippery; I didn't completely alienate this guy!" the landlady patted her chest internally, throwing a glance at Li Yundong.

But her previous words had been too absolute, leaving her unable to back down gracefully. She could only maintain a stern expression, merely scrutinizing the room around her.

Li Yundong, quick-witted, seized the opportunity to offer her an out: "Auntie He, look, this was truly an accident. I’ve been living here for almost a year now, and I’ve never been late on utilities or rent, right? Just be magnanimous and don't hold it against a student like me. You said you wanted to raise the rent—how much? I’ll pay it. That should work, right?"

The landlady felt a mix of exasperation and secret delight. She grumbled, "Hmm, is that so? I'll have to think about it."

Seeing a glimmer of hope, Li Yundong pressed his advantage: "Auntie He, I promise I will definitely not damage the property again in the future."

The landlady let out a couple of humphs and was about to speak when she suddenly caught a whiff of gas. Her nose twitched twice. Just as she was about to comment, she heard a deafening boom from the kitchen, like a bomb detonating. Every pane of glass in the living room and bedroom shattered with a crash!

The landlady shrieked and fell back onto the floor, her eyes wide, completely unaware of what had happened.

Li Yundong bolted toward the kitchen in a panic, screaming, "Su Chan!"

He rushed into the kitchen to find only the frame remaining of the glass door. Su Chan was standing stock-still inside, her back to him, and he couldn't tell if she was alright.

Li Yundong felt as if his guts were tearing apart from terror. Ignoring the shards of glass still clinging to the door frame, he charged in, shielding his head with his hands, then grabbed both of Su Chan's arms, forcibly turning her around, and cried out, terrified, "Are you okay? Where are you hurt?"

Su Chan’s face was completely blackened, but she didn't appear injured; she just stared blankly ahead, looking dazed.

Li Yundong felt utterly stripped of his soul, terrified by the thought of what would have happened if anything had befallen Su Chan!

"Say something, Su Chan! Don't scare me like this!" Li Yundong pinched the pressure point under her nose, shouting in sheer horror.

The sharp pinch jolted Su Chan; her eyes snapped open and she shrieked, "What talisman was that? You scared me half to death!!"

Li Yundong thought his ears were playing tricks on him and asked with a strange expression, "W-what did you say?"

Su Chan pointed at the gas stove, which had been blasted into unrecognizable pieces, and said with clear hostility and caution, "The moment I lit this thing, it exploded! It terrified me! Was it a Fire Yang Talisman or a Thunder Blast Talisman from the Maoshan Sect?"

Li Yundong was caught between laughter and tears—it was just a gas explosion! Had this girl watched too many dramas?

Li Yundong scrutinized Su Chan from head to toe, still unable to relax. "Are you really not hurt?"

Su Chan scoffed haughtily, "A mere talisman with such little power couldn't possibly harm me?"

Seeing that she was completely unharmed while the kitchen was a total wreck, and not even a scratch on her, Li Yundong finally let out a breath of relief. Hearing the little fox spouting nonsense, he promptly tapped her forehead: "Are you still talking nonsense and making light of this?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw the landlady standing at the doorway, her eyes fixed in a vacant stare.

Before the landlady lay a kitchen in utter devastation, a gruesome sight. The kitchen window had been blown clean off, the gas stove had a gaping hole blown through it, and the nearby refrigerator and walls were covered in thick soot!

The landlady collapsed onto the floor, wailing and weeping hysterically, "Oh, merciful heavens! You two wicked little rascals, look what you’ve done to my house! What am I supposed to do now!"

Su Chan glanced at the landlady, then back at Li Yundong, and asked confusedly, "What's wrong with her? Did someone die in her house?"

Su Chan pointed at the landlady and said rudely, "Hey, why are you crying? This house isn't yours!"

The landlady, hearing this, felt her mountainous flesh tremble. She shrieked back hysterically, "It’s not mine, is it yours, you little seductress! You ruined my house like this—can you even afford to pay for it?"

The little fox, hearing the accusation, turned to look at Li Yundong, half-believing and half-doubting, and whispered weakly, "Is this really her house?"

Li Yundong lightly poked her forehead with annoyance: "You big idiot! Shut up and stand to the side! Don't say another word!"

Only then did the little fox realize she had caused trouble again! Wait, why 'again'? How many times had she caused trouble now?

Su Chan lowered her head, nervously rubbing the corner of her clothes. She looked up at the kitchen that looked as if it had been bombed, feeling a little aggrieved: But how is this my fault! It’s because there were traps and talismans here; I was caught completely off guard!

The little fox stood behind Li Yundong, timidly afraid to speak, like a chastised young wife.

The landlady's cries were earth-shattering, as if her entire family had perished. Li Yundong stepped forward, his expression full of apology: "Auntie He, this happened so suddenly. We didn't know the gas would explode like that, but I believe there must be some reason on our side. I don't want to shirk responsibility; I will compensate you fully for the television, the chandelier, all other damaged appliances, and the structural damage to the house!"

Upon hearing this, the pig-like wails instantly ceased, the tears stopping as if by command: "You'll pay? That’s easy to say! But this house absolutely cannot be rented to you anymore. If you stay any longer, you'll tear the whole place down!"

Li Yundong considered it, realizing it was unlikely he could stay here. He nodded decisively: "Fine, but Auntie He, could you give me seven days? I will move out immediately once I find a new place!"

The landlady thought to herself, You scoundrel! Not only did you scare off my potential benefactor, but you wrecked my house too! If I don't deal with you now, you’ll never know how many eyes the King of Hell has!

The landlady sneered, "Seven days? Dream on! You get out today!"

Li Yundong was shocked and furious: "Today? That’s impossible! I have all these things here!"

The landlady huffed, "I don't care! I don't want to see you living in my house for another second! Pack up your things quickly and scram, or I’ll call people to throw everything out!"

Li Yundong knew he was in the wrong, but being pushed to the absolute limit made even his good temper fray. His voice sharpened: "Don't bully people!"

The landlady put her hands on her hips and pointed around the room, shouting, "I'm bullying you? Look at this place yourself! Am I bullying you? Stop the nonsense and move out now. And not a single cent less in payment, or I'll call the police and have you thrown in jail!"

Rage boiled in Li Yundong’s chest. Su Chan, who had been watching quietly, looked up as if to speak, but Li Yundong shot her a glare. The little fox immediately flinched and shrank back, muttering indistinctly under her breath.

Li Yundong suddenly recalled that Su Chan probably didn't even have an ID—a classic undocumented person. If she ended up at the police station, who knew what terrible trouble might erupt? Thus, he suppressed his fury and said, "Auntie He, at least give me some leeway. Where am I supposed to find a place to live right now?"

The landlady resolved to drive this damned man out. She sneered, "There are so many boarding houses near the school, where can't you find a place? Get moving, pack your things, and get lost!"

Li Yundong took a deep breath and asked desperately, "Even one day would be a blessing! I promise I'll move out tomorrow! How can I drag all this stuff and a girl around with nowhere to go right now!"

Hearing this, the landlady immediately threw a fit, cursing, "You son of a bitch, you actually know about that? You haven't even grown your fuzz yet, you look like a pauper, and you dare to play at being a Casanova? Look at yourself in a puddle before you dare to act like that! What right do you have? Pay me my money and get out, or I’ll call the police and have you arrested!"

The fire in Li Yundong's chest erupted instantly. In a fit of blinding fury, he raised his fist, his five fingers cracking audibly, wishing he could smash this landlady into a pulp with one punch.

Seeing Li Yundong's predatory glare, the landlady was terrified. She bolted out the door and collapsed onto the hallway floor of the building, screaming, "Murder! Murder! This kid wrecked my house and now he wants to silence me! Come look, everyone! Is there any law or justice left in this world!"

Neighbors started pouring out to watch the spectacle. People from upstairs and downstairs emerged, crowding the hallway, pointing and whispering about Li Yundong and Su Chan.

Su Chan felt both furious and heartbroken. Furious because this woman was so aggressive, unreasonable, and difficult; heartbroken because the trouble she had caused Li Yundong this time was truly monumental...

Li Yundong stood rooted to the spot, panting heavily through his nose, his face shifting rapidly between pale and ashen.

After a long moment, he managed to suppress the savage look in his eyes. He took a deep breath and gave a cold laugh: "Su Chan!"

Su Chan responded softly, "Yes!"

"Wait here for me!" Li Yundong said before entering the bedroom, retrieving his savings book. He turned back to the landlady and stated coldly, "I'm going to get money. Tell me how much compensation you want, and I will pay! But don't you dare ask for an exorbitant amount, or I’ll gladly go to jail, and I guarantee you won't have an easy time either!"

Seeing Li Yundong's demeanor, the landlady felt a shiver of fear, but recalling the crowd of onlookers in the hallway bolstered her courage. Hands on her hips, she calculated quickly and held up five fingers: "Fifty thousand!"

Li Yundong erupted in fury, gripping the pig-fat landlady with one hand and hoisting her up: "Are you crazy for money? Fine! I'll throw you off the roof, and we’ll burn all this money for you! I’ll let you use it to your heart’s content!"
