As soon as these people were seated, Liu Hui gave a signal and started the car, driving the heavily overloaded vehicle forward. The car bumped along the rugged uphill road, the roof shaking violently. Fortunately, Zhou Tengyun and the two elders were experts; otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to stay seated atop the vehicle without falling off.
Inside the car, Tie Shan turned to Jiang Nan Yi and said, "Boss, this mission is strange. It’s hard and easy at the same time. If we complete it successfully this time, the Captain should be able to return to the Special Operations Group, right?"
"It's too early to say that now. We are not out of danger yet. A company from the US First Cavalry Division is still tailing us. So, the mission isn't complete until we return to the motherland and hand the items over to the organization," Jiang Nan Yi shook his head.
"Boss, the Pakistani government could have just handed over the helicopter parts directly to us. Why orchestrate this whole theft scenario, making us go steal them ourselves?" Tie Shan sounded dissatisfied with the mission.
"What do you know? Pakistan wants revenge against the US for assassinating Bin Laden on their soil, which is why they want to give us the wreckage of that latest stealth helicopter abandoned by the Americans. But at the same time, they don't want to completely fall out with the US and provoke them further, so they cooked up this idea of a theft. If these wreckage parts are 'stolen' by us, they won't press the issue, and we won't admit to stealing them. This way, both sides achieve their goals, it makes sense diplomatically, and neither can point fingers at the other," Jiang Nan Yi explained.
"It's just our bad luck. We went to steal the helicopter wreckage, only to find that the US military also sent people to steal the same wreckage, and we happened to choose the exact same time. And boom—we ran right into them. Although we immediately dealt with those US soldiers, the news still leaked out. The US First Cavalry Division unit latched onto us in Southern Afghanistan and has been chasing us all the way here," Tie Shan lamented.
"There was no other way. The route straight back from Pakistan would be convenient, but it’s currently under tight US surveillance, making us easy targets for discovery. If we went back by sea, there would be even more variables and a higher chance of being spotted by the Americans. Compared to those options, Afghanistan, despite having US forces, has vast uninhabited areas and the presence of resistance groups. Thus, going back through Afghanistan is actually the optimal route," Jiang Nan Yi stated.
Everyone assumed Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun were just local natives from the southern Afghan mountains who couldn't understand the Chinese language, so they discussed the mission openly in front of them.
Liu Hui was startled, suddenly recalling reports he had seen: the reports claimed that the US Navy SEALs had abandoned a high-tech stealth helicopter at the site when they took down Bin Laden, and its wreckage was now in Pakistani hands. He hadn't expected both the Chinese and the Americans to have their eyes on the same wreckage and to have simultaneously conceived the idea of stealing it, leading to them colliding. However, none of this concerned Liu Hui. He had no desire for the helicopter wreckage. As soon as he dropped off Jiang Nan Yi and the others outside the mountain area, he would slip away safely and return to Hong Kong for a carefree life.
On a mountaintop two peaks away from the road where Liu Hui was driving, a group of formidable warriors clad in silver-white armor were resting. Beside them, three Cardinal Archbishops in red robes were meditating with their eyes closed.
"Hmm, I think I heard the sound of a vehicle." Archbishop John, one of the three, suddenly opened his eyes.
"John, vehicles are very rare here because there are no roads whatsoever," Andre said without opening his eyes.
"Let me see who is driving a car in the mountains. Eagle Eye Technique!" John held a cross that emitted a faint white light. A small white orb of light condensed on the cross, suddenly floated up, and then shot directly into his eyes. John's eyes instantly shone brilliantly, becoming incredibly sharp.
Archbishop John focused his gaze toward the source of the car sound, searched briefly, and immediately spotted the vehicle Liu Hui was driving.
"Interesting. Transportation in these mountains is indeed inconvenient. That car is actually driving on a small country lane, and it’s severely overloaded, with three people even sitting on the roof. Wait... one of them is..." Archbishop John's previously smiling face suddenly turned solemn.
"John, what is it?" Archbishop Andre asked, opening his eyes.
"We've found our target—that Devil's Advocate," Archbishop John’s voice turned utterly cold.
Archbishop Andre and Archbishop Ovilmas immediately stood up, as did the Templar Knights clad in silver-white armor. They all turned to look in the direction the car was heading.
"So, we finally meet them here. It seems God knew about our mission and sent this target right to us," Andre said coldly.
"This Devil's Advocate must be eliminated, and the Holy Relics he carries must be recovered. This is the will of God; we must complete it," Ovilmas stated. Although his voice remained gentle, it carried a strong killing intent.
"The Holy Relics of the Holy Church were originally a set, capable of immense, indestructible power when combined. But now, this Devil's Advocate has stolen three pieces, and with the two already lost, we are left only with this Holy Light Cross in our hands. Therefore, we must eliminate this Devil's Advocate and retrieve those Relics, or the Holy Church will lose its authority to command hundreds of millions of Catholic faithful," Archbishop John said, stroking the cross in his hand.
Commander Jack stepped forward suddenly, raising his arm and shouting: "For God, we, the Knights Templar, are willing to give everything we have! Even if we are all sacrificed today, we will completely destroy this Devil's Advocate!"
The members of the Knights Templar immediately drew their weapons, raised them above their heads, and cheered in response to their commander's oath.
"You all, shut up!" Miss Yu, inside the car, suddenly spoke.
Jiang Nan Yi and Tie Shan immediately quieted down, looking at Miss Yu, unsure what she meant.
"I just heard someone shouting outside, but they were far away, so I couldn't make out what they were yelling," Miss Yu said with a grave expression.
Liu Hui was shocked. He had only faintly registered some unusual movement outside, initially mistaking it for the mountain wind, and almost disregarded it. Only later did he recognize it as human shouts. He hadn't expected this strangely dressed woman exuding an icy aura to be anything but fragile. Her power was unfathomable; perhaps even greater than his own.
Liu Hui continued driving, while Miss Yu closed her eyes, concentrating entirely on sensing that faint sound. However, no further sound came. That brief noise seemed like an illusion; Miss Yu even wondered if she had misheard.
As the car rounded a sharp bend, Liu Hui suddenly heard a massive noise from the cliff above. He inwardly cried out that things were bad, just as Miss Yu shrieked: "Stop! Huge rocks are falling from above! Everyone, get out immediately!"
Jiang Nan Yi and Xiao Fei immediately shouldered the two boxes, smashed open the car door with a punch, and quickly jumped out. Miss Yu also leaped out through the door. Liu Hui instantly slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a halt. Zhou Tengyun and the two elders on the roof also jumped down, unaware of what had happened.
"Rumble!" A massive sound came from overhead. Everyone looked up and saw two colossal stones rolling down toward them. Judging by the trajectory, the stones were aimed precisely where the car had been heading; had the car not stopped instantly, it would have been crushed into a sheet of metal.
Liu Hui started in alarm and rushed out of the car, leaping into a nearby ditch. Jiang Nan Yi and the others reacted even faster, distancing themselves from the vehicle long before.
"Boom! Boom!" With two huge impacts, the two boulders landed squarely on the small mountain path, completely destroying it and kicking up vast clouds of dust. The boulders continued to tumble down the slope.
"Boss, look up there," Zhou Tengyun seized the confusion to run to Liu Hui and point upward.
Liu Hui followed Zhou Tengyun's gesture and saw several warriors in silver-white armor leaping down from the cliff face. Behind them, three Cardinal Archbishops in red robes followed at a measured pace.
"The Vatican, the Knights Templar?" Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun exchanged glances, surprised to encounter members of the Holy See here, and worse, to be ambushed by them.
Just as they prepared to take action, they heard Miss Yu say coldly, "Everyone, be careful. Those coming from above are from the Vatican Holy See. But do they think sending the Vatican Holy See forces is enough to snatch back what they want?"
Jiang Nan Yi exclaimed in surprise, "Even people from the Vatican Holy See are here? Aren't the Americans following us?"
"Whether it's the Americans or the Vatican Holy See, anyone trying to take what is ours will not leave here alive," Miss Yu stated coldly, choosing a relatively flat spot to stand. The two elders protecting her immediately took positions on either side of her, maintaining a vigilant watch.
"All of you, stand behind me. Watch how I send this bunch of clowns to the heaven they so desperately desire," Miss Yu called out to Jiang Nan Yi and the others. They seemed utterly confident in her strength and quickly moved behind her. Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun exchanged a look and quickly ran behind Miss Yu to stand with Jiang Nan Yi’s group.
By this time, the Knights Templar had leaped down from the cliff and charged toward Miss Yu, swinging their greatswords.
Miss Yu remained unhurried, merely murmuring, "Halt."
Frost instantly formed around the feet of the charging Knights Templar members, firmly bonding their boots to the ground. Caught off guard, the charging knights couldn't stop their momentum and fell straight onto the ground.
Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun’s hearts pounded. When they first saw Miss Yu, they found her attire strange, thinking they had seen it somewhere before, but seeing her frail appearance, they hadn't thought much of it. Now, seeing her instantly freeze the Vatican Knights to the ground with ice, they immediately recalled the white-robed old man who had appeared when the Kuanglong Gang ambushed Zhou Tengyun in Ba Shan City for revenge. That old man possessed unfathomable power, but he had ultimately died under Liu Hui's heavy machine gun fire. Seeing Miss Yu’s identical attire to that old man, and the same skill to immobilize people with ice, they realized Miss Yu must have an extraordinary connection to that all-white elder.
The frozen Knights Templar members only then realized their feet were locked by ice. Having spent time within the Holy See, they had witnessed bizarre things and weren't astonished by ice appearing on a hot day. They vigorously struck the ice around their feet with their sword hilts, hoping to break free.
"Think you can escape that easily? Watch my Boundless Snow Sea!" Miss Yu sneered at their efforts and immediately activated the Boundless Snow Sea skill.
The air in front of Miss Yu began to drop rapidly in temperature, becoming unbearably cold. The moisture in the air condensed into snowflakes and began to fall. The fallen Knights Templar members were enveloped in the snowfall; they felt an intense chill, and if their power wasn't considerable, they might have frozen solid instantly. The snowflakes, conjured from thin air, grew denser and denser until visibility was gone. Suddenly, several ice arrows materialized from the blizzard and shot out like lightning toward the trapped members, piercing their throats and exiting through the backs of their heads. The members instantly lost all signs of life, their bodies frozen into ice sculptures.
Though this description seems long, it happened in an instant. Commander Jack, slightly slower than his men, saw his subordinates die so bizarrely and roared in fury, lunging toward Miss Yu: "You devils! I will avenge Tony! I will kill you all!"
"Dare to call us devils after coming to the East? You truly don't know how to value your life," Miss Yu said coldly, pointing her finger and calling out, "Halt!" Jack and the remaining Templars were instantly encased in ice, unable to move.
"Blessing Spell!" Suddenly, a soft holy light shone down from the sky. The ice binding Jack and the others' legs rapidly melted. It turned out the three Cardinal Archbishops had finally arrived. Archbishop Ovilmas immediately cast the Blessing Spell, preparing to dispel the negative status effects on Jack and the others.
"Is it really that simple?" Miss Yu gave a cold laugh, pointed her finger again, and the rapidly melting ice instantly re-solidified. Even under the light of the blessing, the ice refused to melt. Simultaneously, countless ice arrows appeared in the swirling void ahead of her, shooting toward the Knights Templar members and the three Cardinal Archbishops.
"Petty tricks! Behold my Holy Light Shield!" John shook the Holy Light Cross in his hand, and a shield shadow burst forth, blocking their path. The ice arrows struck the shield shadow and were immediately deflected, unable to breach its defense. However, the ice arrows were endless, as if they would never cease, pressing John and the others down so they couldn't move.
"Fireball!" Seeing the situation turning unfavorable, Andre quickly cast a Fireball, summoning a sphere of fire to attack Miss Yu in front of them.
One of the elders protecting Miss Yu suddenly stepped forward, drew a longsword from his waist, and cleaved the incoming fireball. The fireball exploded violently, but it only scorched a few strands of the elder's hair and beard, causing no harm to Miss Yu.
"Let's all attack the woman in front!" Andre shouted.
Archbishop John used the Holy Light Shield to withstand Miss Yu's endless ice arrows, unable to divert his attention. Archbishop Ovilmas also began to cast his ultimate skill, preparing to strike Miss Yu.
"Ice Cone Spell!" Ovilmas roared, and an ice cone suddenly materialized, shooting toward Miss Yu.
"Truly the fearless are ignorant," Miss Yu merely pointed her finger, changing the trajectory of the ice cone, sending it rapidly back toward Ovilmas. It smashed through the Holy Light Shield blocking the way, but its power was mostly depleted, and it vanished completely before reaching Ovilmas.
Archbishop John was alarmed and quickly cast another Holy Light Shield to barely fend off the barrage of ice arrows.
"Ovilmas, your ice magic is useless against this demoness," Archbishop John observed clearly and warned Ovilmas.
Andre's Fireball couldn't penetrate the elder protecting Miss Yu to harm her, and Ovilmas's Ice Cone Spell was actually turned back against him by Miss Yu. Furthermore, they were all currently frozen in place by Miss Yu, unable to move, forced only to endure her ceaseless ice arrow attacks. Andre had never faced such a desperate situation in his life.
Jiang Nan Yi, Xiao Fei, and Tie Shan also saw an opening and immediately drew their weapons, opening fire on the group from the Vatican Holy See. Although the bullets were small caliber and blocked by the Holy Light Shield, they began to slowly drain the shield's energy. The shield dimmed noticeably, on the verge of collapse.
"It's a pity that our Holy Church's 'Crown of Holiness,' 'Scepter of Divine Punishment,' and 'Shield of Holy Light' were lost by Chief Judge Augustus, and are likely on that devil opposite us. Otherwise, with these three artifacts deployed, we could even summon angels and wouldn't fear this demoness in front of us," Andre sighed.
"There's no other way now. I can't hold on much longer. I have to use our ultimate move, or we'll all be wiped out," Archbishop John stated loudly.
"How majestic our Holy Church is in the West, yet here in the East, we face such adversity," Ovilmas sighed.
So, Archbishop John raised the Holy Light Cross high above his head, and together with Andre and Ovilmas, they loudly chanted a prayer: "Almighty God, your children pray to you! We are willing to exchange the remainder of our lives for your incomparably great power. We hope you can bestow strength upon us to utterly destroy all the devils in this world!"
The Holy Light Cross suddenly emitted a dazzling radiance that blinded everyone’s eyes. Then, three beams of white light descended from the sky, shining upon Andre and the other two. As soon as the white light touched them, their bodies began to swell like balloons, their figures grew immensely tall, the wrinkles on their faces vanished, and they exuded infinite power.
