The CIA director was pacing anxiously in front of the cave. The three Cobra teams, a total of nine helicopters and over forty men, had all been deployed, yet after a thorough search, they hadn't found a trace of the terrorists, nor had they kept tabs on the arms dealer. It was almost unbelievable. Had those terrorists dug a tunnel to escape?
"Chief, the Pentagon just contacted us. They've tasked several military satellites near the Middle East to provide us with imagery," A.J. reported.
"Pull up the imagery for a hundred kilometers around immediately," the Chief barked his orders.
A.J. quickly connected his computer and began receiving the satellite data, displaying the scanned images on the screen.
"Chief, since it's night here, the Pentagon sent us infrared scans. The red dots indicate heat signatures, meaning there's likely activity nearby," A.J. explained.
"Shut up! I don't need you to lecture me on basic concepts. I know what those mean." The Chief, already in a foul mood, tore into his subordinate.
A.J. stuck out his tongue and swiftly fell silent, focusing on loading and displaying the surrounding imagery on the screen.
"This is our location. These heat signatures are our own people. All teams, report your current area and headcount immediately." The Chief scanned the cluster of red dots around him, ordering his Cobra teams to report their positions and numbers, fearing the terrorists might have infiltrated their own ranks.
The teams quickly reported their locations and headcounts. Comparing this data against the image, the Chief found that the heat sources perfectly overlapped with his personnel's positions; no other heat signatures were detected.
"Damn it, where the hell have you hidden yourselves? Come out quietly. You can't escape my grasp," the Chief muttered, agitatedly staring at the monitor.
"Chief," A.J. called out again.
"What? Can't you see I'm busy?" the Chief roared, furious that this subordinate spoke up again after being told to stay quiet.
"Chief, another satellite image shows several heat sources moving west thirty minutes ago. Could that be our targets?" A.J. said cautiously.
"Shit, why didn't you say so sooner? Bring up that image now!" The Chief was overjoyed.
A.J. immediately loaded the picture. Indeed, the Chief spotted a few suspicious small red dots on that image, moving away from the cave area to the west.
"Got you, you little moles! You won't get away," the Chief exclaimed, unusually excited. He praised A.J., "Good work, A.J. Continue tracking and analyzing immediately. See where they are now?"
A.J. worked the computer controls rapidly and produced a result: "Chief, they are moving very fast, likely in vehicles. They are now fifty-six kilometers away. Furthermore, they have split into two groups, taking two different routes, but it looks like their destination for both is the Red Sea coast."
"Cobra One, Cobra Two, deploy immediately. Bring back these two little birds," the Chief issued the command.
Cobra One and Cobra Two each had three helicopters: two troop transports and one attack helicopter. Upon receiving the order, they quickly gathered their personnel, boarded them, took off swiftly, and sped toward the marked directions on the map. Only Cobra Three remained hovering at the original site for perimeter security.
Cobra One was tracking Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun, while Cobra Two pursued Colonel Boot.
Liu Hui ran while constantly monitoring his distance from Xiao Hei, realizing they were only twenty kilometers away from him. If they could safely reach the Red Sea coast, they could use Xiao Hei's formidable power to slip out of Yemen unnoticed. He had initially considered pulling a vehicle out of his storage space, which would have increased their speed considerably, but ultimately discarded the idea. He was acutely aware of the CIA's investigative capabilities and feared that even minor clues left by the vehicle tracks could lead them directly to him. If the Americans targeted him, his entire life would be ruined, and all his ambitions would turn to smoke.
Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun ran fast, feeling no fatigue. Just as they were five kilometers from Xiao Hei, the roar of helicopters echoed behind them.
"Damn it all, they actually caught up," Liu Hui muttered irritably, but his pace didn't slow as he sprinted forward.
In the sky behind them, a massive engine roar sounded, and three helicopters appeared on the horizon, rapidly closing in on Liu Hui's position.
Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun exchanged a glance, their last vestiges of hope vanishing. They knew they were still being tracked, but their only option was to keep running forward. On the flat, open desert sand, there wasn't a single place to conceal themselves.
"God, are these men even human? Their speed is already hitting a hundred kilometers, and they're still accelerating," the pilot of one helicopter said in astonishment, looking at his speed gauge and then at the running pace of the two men below.
"No matter how fast they are, once they're targeted by our Cobras, they aren't getting away," the Cobra One team leader stated coldly.
"Attack their front to force them to stop, then begin hailing them," the leader commanded.
As Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun fled for their lives, they felt violent air turbulence ahead. They immediately rolled, reducing their speed, just as a loud explosion erupted in front of them. The shockwave from the blast grazed their bodies, startling them badly.
By this time, the searchlights from the helicopters were activated, bathing Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun in light, leaving them nowhere to hide. Then, a loud voice boomed from the aircraft: "Terrorists below, listen up! You are surrounded by the US CIA and the US Army. You cannot escape. Drop your weapons immediately, put your hands on your head, and lie on the ground."
Liu Hui froze. He hadn't expected the US CIA to deploy personally, nor that they would mistake him for a terrorist. There must have been some misunderstanding somewhere. However, with the attack helicopter circling overhead, ready to strike at any moment, he knew his (Hongguang Armor) should keep him safe. He could even potentially shoot down the helicopters using his (Ice-Fire Bombs). But Zhou Tengyun only had a bulletproof vest and wouldn't survive a rocket attack. A thought flashed through his mind, and he told Zhou Tengyun, "Third Brother, let's pretend to surrender. We'll take them out once they get down."
Zhou Tengyun understood. The men in the air were beyond their immediate reach, but once on the ground, it would be their domain. So, they instantly stopped running, placed their hands on their heads, and dropped to the ground. Seeing the two men surrender, two of the three helicopters, the transport ones, began descending, while the remaining attack helicopter circled overhead on guard.
Before the transport helicopters even settled, the Cobra One team members rushed out, leveling their weapons at Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun, shouting loudly as they cautiously approached to subdue them.
Liu Hui was slightly disappointed; he hadn't expected the enemy to be so cautious as to keep the attack helicopter airborne. But he couldn't dwell on it. He roared in Arabic, "Muhammad, move!"
Instantly, Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun sprang up like cheetahs, charging the Cobra team members at an incredible speed. The Cobra operatives, having seen the surrender, had instinctively let their guard down slightly, despite maintaining caution. Countless past experiences proved that no one could turn the tables in such a situation. Thus, they weren't prepared for the sudden explosion of violence from the pair. Coupled with the sheer speed of the attack, they couldn't react at such close quarters. Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun burst into their formation, striking and kicking, immediately taking down several operatives.
The Cobra One leader, still aboard the attack helicopter, saw the situation deteriorating and roared, "Fall back quickly! Fall back! Let me take out these bastards with the chopper!"
Unfortunately, although the Cobra operatives were highly skilled, most relied on their equipment. Once Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun, acting like twin gods of slaughter, closed the distance, the operatives couldn't disengage. They were swiftly massacred by Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun, who each grabbed one operative as a hostage. Ruthless in their action, Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun used the captured operatives as shields while using the seized pistols to shoot and kill the pilots in both transport helicopters.
"Damn you, I will kill you, I swear it!" the leader screamed from above as he watched his men slaughtered, his rage boiling over. He ordered the pilot to lock onto Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun and fire rockets.
The pilot refused the leader's order, stating, "Sir, they've taken our brothers hostage. I can't fire on them."
Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun, holding the two hostages, rapidly approached a transport helicopter. Liu Hui pulled a steel pipe from the helicopter floor and aimed it at the attack helicopter above.
"Son of a bitch, what is he doing?" the attack helicopter pilot exclaimed in shock, watching Liu Hui's action.
"Pull up! Pull up quickly! He's going to attack us!" The experienced leader, having witnessed the immense power of Liu Hui and his partner, immediately realized what Liu Hui intended.
The pilot understood instantly and rapidly pulled the attack helicopter upward, but it was too late. The steel pipe in Liu Hui's hand had already been thrown. Although the underside of the attack helicopter was specially reinforced for significantly greater defense, Liu Hui's current strength was immense. His full-force throw sent the steel pipe rocketing toward the aircraft. To the leader's horror, the pipe pierced the helicopter's underbelly, shot into the cabin, tore through the leader's arm, exited through the top of the fuselage, pinning the leader to the roof while also destroying several pieces of electronic equipment.
"Damn it, retreat quickly!" Though enduring agonizing pain from the pierced arm, the leader immediately commanded a withdrawal. The pilot, drenched in sweat from shock, quickly changed direction and sped away into the distance.
Liu Hui watched the disabled helicopter stagger away, but he sighed. He knew that helicopter would inevitably return, posing his greatest threat; it was a pity they hadn't managed to shoot it down. His initial thought was to use the (Ice-Fire Bombs) to take it down, but based on how quickly the Cobra operatives had located them, he suspected that everything happening here was being monitored by the US military through some unseen channel. Revealing the secret of the Ice-Fire Bombs might put him in even greater danger. Still, the most threatening attack helicopter had flown off, presenting a perfect opportunity for them to make a swift getaway.
Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun promptly knocked out their captured hostages, slung them over their shoulders, and sprinted toward Xiao Hei.
"Goddamn it, this hurts like hell." Aboard the attack helicopter, the leader grit his teeth as he yanked his impaled arm free from the steel pipe; the intense agony nearly made him pass out.
"Is our aircraft damaged?" the leader demanded.
"Some instruments were destroyed, making the flight slightly unstable, but everything else is fine," the pilot replied.
"Turn back immediately! I will tear those two bastards limb from limb and avenge my men," the leader snarled through clenched teeth.
The CIA chief awaiting updates at the cave suddenly noticed ten red dots vanish from his computer screen and immediately queried the Cobra One leader. The leader recounted his team's recent encounter and assured the chief that he was in pursuit and would surely kill the two terrorists, bringing back their corpses to avenge his fallen comrades.
The chief pondered for a moment, then said, "A.J., contact General House aboard the USS Enterprise immediately. We need his assistance."
A.J. was puzzled. "The Enterprise is currently patrolling the Gulf of Aden, a significant distance from us. How can they assist?"
"We underestimated our opponents tonight, assuming they were ordinary terrorists. But reality keeps telling us they are specialists among terrorists. Cobra One might not be enough to eliminate them. So, I won't give them any more chances. I will have the Enterprise launch cruise missiles at them. I want them blown into oblivion," the chief, skilled at summarization, instantly recognized he had misjudged the strength of these fugitives and decided to deploy the ultimate weapon for a decisive strike, leaving them no chance to recover.
Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun ran some distance further; they were now only one kilometer from Xiao Hei when the deafening roar of massive engines sounded behind them again. The attack helicopter had returned.
Aboard the helicopter, the leader commanded, "Fire the rockets now and blow those sons of bitches up!"
The pilot countered, "Chief, they are still holding two of our hostages. I cannot fire."
The leader roared in fury, "I'm certain those hostages are already dead. Didn't you see they stopped moving? I order you to fire now!"
The pilot argued back, "Those hostages definitely aren't dead, or the terrorists below wouldn't still be carrying them."
The leader's face contorted viciously. He pulled out his pistol and pressed it to the pilot's head. "I order you to fire now. If you dare defy me, I will kill you instantly."
The pilot broke out in a cold sweat and stammered, "The hostages have already been brutally murdered by the terrorists. We must avenge them now." The leader nodded in satisfaction and tucked the pistol away.
Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun, still carrying the hostages on their backs, were fleeing for their lives. Soon, they heard the sound of the helicopter opening fire. Liu Hui dodged just as a rocket exploded near him. The shockwave from the blast sent Liu Hui tumbling several times, but the damage was entirely absorbed by the Hongguang Armor, causing him no actual injury. However, the explosion left him looking extremely disheveled, and the hostage on his back was killed by the blast.
"He... he won't even spare his own men," Liu Hui realized instantly that the helicopter in the sky had gone completely mad; the two hostages were now useless.
"Third Brother, kill the hostage and take this," Liu Hui pulled out two specially customized super shields from his storage space. These shields were twenty centimeters thick, made of a special alloy capable of resisting large-caliber cannon fire—equipment Liu Hui had specifically prepared for this trip to Afghanistan.
Zhou Tengyun swiftly snapped the neck of the hostage on his back, then took the shield Liu Hui tossed him. The shield was immensely heavy, weighing a full three hundred kilograms, but this weight was negligible to the current Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun. Shielding themselves, the two continued their retreat toward the coast.
The helicopter continued firing rockets relentlessly. Except for that first shell that caught Liu Hui off guard and made him look momentarily battered, all subsequent rounds struck the shields they held up. The shields were incredibly sturdy; the rockets exploded upon impact with tremendous force and sound, but they failed to penetrate the defenses.
Liu Hui and Zhou Tengyun slowly retreated behind their shields, but the intense rocket fire completely suppressed them, forcing them to keep their heads down.
"Damn it, where did these terrorists find shields that can withstand our rockets?" the leader roared in frustration, yet felt utterly helpless.
"Chief, look!" the pilot suddenly pointed at Liu Hui's shield.
The leader looked and his eyes widened with delight. Liu Hui’s shield, having absorbed more hits, was beginning to show faint cracks.
"Focus all fire on that shield!" The leader instantly abandoned Zhou Tengyun and concentrated all attacks on Liu Hui.
All rockets rained down upon Liu Hui's shield. The cracks on the shield expanded rapidly. Liu Hui inwardly groaned; while his custom shields were formidable, they couldn't withstand constant assault. The saying that even the strongest shield will eventually break was proving true. Just as he was about to risk everything and bring out the Ice-Fire Bombs to eliminate the helicopter, he heard a furious roar from Zhou Tengyun beside him. Suddenly, Zhou Tengyun straightened up, gathered all his strength, and hurled the shield in his hands like a discus toward the helicopter in the sky.
