Having resolved the origin of the "Starry Sky Vision Corrector" and taught Yaren several techniques with the sniper rifle, Er'er felt a wave of relief wash over him. He headed to the pharmaceutical factory's production workshop and found Mei Peng.
Mei Peng was browsing the news on his computer in his office, completely unaware of Liu Hui's arrival.
"Ahem, ahem!" Liu Hui coughed lightly. "Boss, what brings you here? Oh, and Little Two, are you feeling unwell? Why the cough?" Mei Peng asked.
"Let's not talk about that first. What are you looking at? Is it a pornography site?" Liu Hui leaned in to view Mei Peng's computer screen.
"Heh heh, while I might be a bit of a lecher, I wouldn't look at those sites while I'm on the clock! I'm reading news about a terrorist attack in Japan," Mei Peng replied with a smirk.
"A terrorist attack in Japan? Didn't the papers say this attack was carried out by their domestic Sankou-gumi? When did it get linked to a terrorist organization?" Liu Hui shooed Mei Peng away and sat down in front of the computer himself.
"See for yourself!" Mei Peng opened a webpage, and they both stood before the screen, reading the news report together.
“Al-Qaeda spokesperson claims responsibility for the terrorist attack in Japan, stating that if Japan continues to follow the American lead, further terrorist strikes will be launched against Japan!”
"Huh? This morning's news said this bombing was done by Japan's Sankou-gumi?" Liu Hui exclaimed in surprise.
"Heh, your information is outdated. By noon today, Japanese police had arrested Irie Zhen, the third-ranking figure in the Sankou-gumi headquarters. Through questioning Irie Zhen, investigating the Sankou-gumi members caught outside the Metropolitan Police Department, and surveying the scene at the police headquarters, they concluded that the Sankou-gumi members who entered the headquarters had actually been killed long ago. Synthesizing this intelligence, the Japanese police concluded: The Sankou-gumi manufactured several incidents across Tokyo to draw police attention in an attempt to reclaim five tons of narcotics. They then took advantage of the empty police headquarters to storm the interior, planning to seize the drugs. For some unknown reason, they were eliminated, meaning the group that fought the Self-Defense Forces was definitely not the Sankou-gumi. It was only then that Al-Qaeda stepped forward to claim responsibility for orchestrating the attack," Mei Peng explained.
"Something like that happened?" Liu Hui was stunned. It was easy to understand why the police discovered the combatants weren't Sankou-gumi—the gang simply didn't have the capacity. But he couldn't grasp the connection to Al-Qaeda.
Still, this was good. With the Japanese attention drawn to Al-Qaeda, they wouldn't notice him hiding in the middle. Although he didn't know why Al-Qaeda was claiming responsibility, for Liu Hui, it was a blessing; the last potential hidden danger of his trip to Japan had vanished without a trace.
"Heh, those terrorists are tough opponents. Let the Japanese deal with the headache!" Liu Hui chuckled as well.
"Hey, there's new news about Japan," Mei Peng suddenly remarked, clicking to open a freshly refreshed article.
The news reported that a murder had occurred around noon that day in a restroom at Narita Airport in Tokyo. The victim was a Japanese monk named Mu Zhelongpan, who was quite famous in Japan and considered a pillar of Buddhism. Japanese police had launched an investigation into Mu Zhelongpan's murder but had yet to find any valuable leads.
‘So they found him,’ Liu Hui thought with an internal smile. Before boarding the plane, he had quietly placed the monk’s body in the airport restroom. Of course, he had disguised himself at the time; the Japanese would never find any useful clues from the scene.
"Boss, why did you come to see me?" Mei Peng suddenly remembered that Liu Hui never visited without an important reason.
"Our myopia drug is about to launch. I'm here to check on the production status," Liu Hui stated his purpose for the visit.
"Production has been completely normal. What's wrong?" Mei Peng asked.
"What is your maximum monthly output?"
"If raw materials are sufficient, the highest capacity is about five million units per month!" Mei Peng calculated carefully before giving the specific figure.
"Only five million units? Isn't that a bit low?" Liu Hui stroked his chin.
"Five million units is low, Boss?" Mei Peng questioned in surprise.
"Five million is a little low. If I ensure a full supply of raw materials, can you produce eleven million units in one month?" Liu Hui asked.
"If we run the machines twenty-four hours a day without rest, and the workers operate in three shifts, it should be possible," Mei Peng replied affirmatively after thinking it over. "Yes!"
"Then let's put the workers on three shifts! Our distributors have already placed an order for eleven million units. We must complete this massive order within a month."
"In that case, we won't have enough production staff; we'll need to hire more people," Mei Peng pointed out.
"If that's the case, then let's hire more people!"
"But what happens to the extra staff once this order is fulfilled?" Mei Peng asked.
"Heh, Little Two, don't worry about surplus personnel. Have you forgotten I still have two other drugs to release? Once the 'Starry Sky Vision Corrector' stabilizes the market, the drugs for Hepatitis B and diabetes will be released sequentially. By then, I'll be worried about not having enough workers," Liu Hui laughed.
"I see. Then there's no issue," Mei Peng realized with sudden clarity.
"Immediately draft a personnel requisition plan and apply to the Group Company's Human Resources Department for the increase. I will personally monitor this matter and do my utmost to ensure the staff you need arrives promptly. We cannot delay production," Liu Hui instructed.
"Yes, Boss, I'll do it right away."
Liu Hui left Mei Peng's office, walked to the seaside, and checked on Xiao Hei's location. Xiao Hei was silently hidden in the trench. He commanded Xiao Hei to move around, hunting a few large fish to replenish its strength, before returning to his home. His parents were both there and were delighted to see him return.
Liu Hui's mother peeled a large apple for him. He took it and began eating heartily. Only in his own home could he let go of all his worries and feel the warmth of family. His father and mother sat across from him, smiling as they watched him.
Looking at his parents opposite him, Liu Hui suddenly noticed crow's feet around his mother's eyes and a slight stoop in his father’s back. He froze, finally confronting the reality: his parents were aging.
A plan suddenly formed in Liu Hui's mind. He said, "Dad, Mom, I want to arrange for you to go to the hospital for a full check-up!"
"Son, there's nothing wrong with us. Let's just skip it," his dad replied. He had an innate fear of hospitals, associating them with misfortune.
"Dad, Mom, please go get checked. Our company is researching a brand-new medicine recently. This new drug might actually reverse aging!" Liu Hui said with a smile.
"Is there really a medicine that can reverse aging? Isn't that something that should only exist in legends?" Liu Hui's mother asked skeptically.
"There wasn't before, but there might be very soon," Liu Hui said mysteriously.
"You plan to give this medicine to us, which is why you want us to get checked?" Liu Hui's mother caught on.
"Heh heh, that’s the idea. But whether this drug is effective is still uncertain, and it must remain secret for now, so please don't tell anyone," Liu Hui cautioned them.
"If there really is such a medicine, of course we're willing to take it, hah! We'll go for the check-up tomorrow. Son, you have no idea how beautiful your mother was when she was young," Liu Hui’s father said excitedly.
"Xiao Hui, we promise to keep it secret, but you should be low-key about using this medicine, or it could cause big trouble," his mother, who was more perceptive, reminded him to be careful.
"Mom, I'll be careful. I'll arrange for someone to take you for physical exams tomorrow," Liu Hui smiled.
Liu Hui's own body was now incredibly robust, his bodily functions at their absolute peak. But his parents were starting to decline. Therefore, Liu Hui decided to consult Zeg to see if their gene technology could slow down human aging and restore youth. Naturally, such heaven-defying matters could not be widely publicized; if the news leaked, Liu Hui could pay a heavy price.
After dinner, Liu Hui went into his room and sat on the meditation cushion to cultivate. No matter the time or place, the stronger his own power, the greater his security. If it hadn't been for the Japanese monk's negligence during this trip to Japan, Liu Hui might not have escaped unscathed. He needed to reach the Foundation Establishment stage of cultivation, gain true yuan to boost his strength, and only then would he have the self-preservation capability to no longer fear threats from others.
The next day, Liu Hui arranged for company personnel to take his parents for comprehensive physical examinations. A week later, their results arrived.
Liu Hui took the physical reports and samples of his parents' fresh blood to the basement and called for Zeg. Zeg connected the call after a short delay.
"Esteemed Lord Zeg, it is a pleasure to see you."
"Esteemed Lord Liu Hui, it is a pleasure to see you."
"Lord Zeg, how is the production of my myopia drug progressing?" Liu Hui inquired.
"We have already produced three million units. The remaining eight million units are estimated to take about five more days," Zeg replied.
"Oh, let's trade these three million units first," Liu Hui suggested.
"Very well, let us conduct the exchange now!" Zeg nodded in agreement.
Liu Hui placed three hundred kilograms of the narcotics on the trading platform. Zeg produced three massive containers, pressed the trade button on the interface, and a red light suddenly shot out, enveloping the containers. The containers immediately began to shrink before flying onto the trading platform.
Liu Hui and Zeg clicked trade simultaneously. Liu Hui's narcotics appeared in Zeg's hands, while the three enormous containers materialized on the basement floor. The containers were immense—six meters long, six meters wide, and three meters high—occupying half the basement space.
After the myopia drug transaction, Zeg produced ten vials of Spirit Root Manufacturing Fluid and placed them on the trade platform. Liu Hui provided one kilogram of narcotics, and after both clicked trade, the ten vials of Spirit Root Manufacturing Fluid appeared in Liu Hui's hands.
Both transactions complete, Zeg was very pleased, and Liu Hui was in a good mood. He consulted Zeg: "Lord Zeg, human lifespans are very brief. Do you know what the maximum lifespan for humans is?"
"Actually, when you first provided us with your genes, we already knew that human lifespans are extremely short. Our research indicates that human fibroblasts can undergo about fifty cycles of mitosis, with each division cycle lasting approximately one year. Therefore, the maximum natural lifespan for humans is around 120 years," Zeg stated.
"Is there any way to increase human lifespan?" Liu Hui asked urgently.
"If all humans took that cellular energy storage drug, filling their cells with energy, they could live for at least five hundred years," Zeg said.
Liu Hui understood what Zeg meant: humans using the Spirit Root Manufacturing Fluid to cultivate, reaching the Foundation Establishment stage, could extend their lives to five hundred years. However, this wasn't the method he desired, so he asked, "Besides this method, are there others?"
"That would require genetic modification. We can modify your fibroblasts, allowing them to undergo two hundred divisions. This means human lifespan can be doubled," Zeg explained.
"Does this genetic modification have any side effects on humans?" Liu Hui was most concerned about this.
"Doubling the human lifespan I mentioned is under the condition that there are absolutely no side effects. If we disregard side effects, human lifespan could potentially extend to ten thousand years," Zeg replied.
Hearing there were no side effects, Liu Hui relaxed instantly. He then asked, "How difficult is this genetic modification?"
"The modification process is very simple; you only need to inject the drug into the body. Afterward, the body will slowly adjust itself, granting double the lifespan. Furthermore, the cost of this drug is very cheap, comparable to the AIDS medication," Zeg concluded by mentioning the drug's price.
"What physical changes occur after injecting this drug?" Liu Hui inquired.
"After the human genome is modified, the lifespan is doubled, extending the maximum life to roughly 240 years. The prime adult stage will span the entire growth process. That is, humans will enter their prime around age twenty-five, and this stage will last until about age two hundred and twenty. Only the final twenty years will involve formal aging. Humans already in their prime who undergo the genetic modification will extend their prime until age two hundred and twenty. For those already entering decline, the modification will slowly restore them to their prime state, only beginning to age again after another two hundred and twenty years. The genetic modification has no effect on humans still in their growth phase," Zeg explained in detail. Zeg's explanation was very easy to understand; even Liu Hui, an amateur, grasped it immediately. According to Zeg, humans would gain a lifespan of 240 years and could maintain peak condition throughout that time, which would have profound and far-reaching implications for all of human society.
However, Liu Hui dared not release this product right now, or he would surely meet a dreadful end.
After some thought, he decided to trade his parents' blood samples to Zeg, then said, "Esteemed Lord Zeg, I still hope you can further research our human genes and conduct more experiments. I do not wish for irreparable consequences to befall our race due to any oversight on your part."
Zeg accepted the blood samples and replied, "Rest assured, our genetic technology will never cause any issues. However, since you mentioned it, we will conduct further research to ensure we provide you with a product completely free of side effects."
Liu Hui detailed his parents' physical examination results to Zeg, who recorded everything. Liu Hui’s interests were Zeg’s interests; Zeg dared not be careless.
Liu Hui finally bid farewell to Zeg and closed the trading interface. He sat in the basement thinking for a long time, ultimately deciding to keep the anti-aging drug hidden for the time being. He would only allow the drug to surface when he possessed his own powerful faction capable of guaranteeing his safety. As for his parents, he would let them quietly enjoy the benefits of this drug for now.
Liu Hui found Mei Peng and asked him to custom-order square containers measuring one meter on each side. The containers Zeg traded were too large, and bringing them into the factory area might arouse suspicion. Thus, Liu Hui planned to use these smaller, square containers to repackage the myopia drug. Though Mei Peng didn't know Liu Hui's exact purpose, he promptly set about ordering them.
Back at the office building, Liu Hui encountered the beautiful receptionist, Li Lian, at the entrance again. Li Lian sweetly called out, "Hello, Boss!" Liu Hui instantly felt lighter by several pounds. He returned to his office, sat down, and had only taken a few sips of the tea Hu Xian'er had brewed when Li Zhi called. Li Zhi reported that a special guest wished to see Liu Hui and asked if he would grant an audience.
‘A special guest, as described by Li Zhi? What could it be?’ Puzzled, Liu Hui instructed Li Zhi to bring the special guest to his office.
Li Zhi soon arrived with the special guests. She pointed behind the two visitors and introduced them: "Boss, this is Deputy Director Xia of the China Drug Administration, and this is Miss Wang Yuyan, the representative from China Pioneer Pharmaceutical Group."
"Boss Liu, it is an honor to finally meet you!" said the beautiful Miss Wang Yuyan, bowing slightly. The Deputy Director Xia of the Drug Administration merely nodded.
"Please, both of you, have a seat." Liu Hui invited them to the sofas inside his office, while he and Li Zhi sat opposite them. Hu Xian'er quickly appeared to serve them tea.
"What brings such esteemed guests to visit today?" Liu Hui asked with a broad smile.
"Boss Liu, we will be direct. We are here hoping that your Starry Sky Group will assign the Greater China regional agency rights for the 'Starry Sky Vision Corrector' to China Pioneer Pharmaceutical Group," Deputy Director Xia stated plainly.
