Er'ergang backed down into the basement and immediately jumped in fright. The giant python, which Meiyueyi had been raising, was there, and the white giant egg that usually stood in the room had vanished. The black python was staring intently at Liu Hui, who had just entered, its tongue flickering constantly, exuding an immense pressure. If Liu Hui hadn't felt that this massive serpent was as much a part of him as his own body, he might have turned tail and fled.
Liu Hui closely observed the giant python, still struggling to comprehend how such a small whip snake could have grown so large. He controlled Little Black to slowly extend its body, estimating roughly that Little Black was now at least twenty-five meters long, with its thickest point approaching a diameter of nearly one meter.
Little Black’s immense body already made the basement feel cramped. It seemed he would have to relocate Little Black, but where could he keep it so that no one would discover it?
Liu Hui began contacting Zerg, who answered quickly.
“Esteemed Lord Zerg, the creature you helped me modify has awakened. It has completed its first transformation,” Liu Hui said.
“Congratulations then. It seems our modifications were successful. Bring the creature in front of the screen so I can see it now,” Zerg chuckled.
Liu Hui controlled Little Black to crawl behind him, making it strike several different poses for Zerg’s detailed inspection.
“Excellent. The modification is flawless, precisely following our design concepts. Send me a sample of its blood now; we need to research whether any mutations occurred during its transformation process,” Zerg instructed.
“Lord Zerg, didn’t you say you could incorporate some Zerg genes and reshape this creature according to the color illustration I provided? But right now, it still looks like a snake; its external form has barely changed?” Liu Hui asked, confused.
“Those modifications you mentioned will be done in later stages. Because its current genome is still too simple, introducing those elements now would cause its cells to collapse immediately,” Zerg explained.
“I see! Oh, right, can this modified creature live in the ocean?” Liu Hui asked the most crucial question.
“Of course it can. It now possesses the ability to swim and can live in any body of water, including the sea.”
“Understood. Please wait a moment,” Liu Hui said, producing a syringe. He found a gap between Little Black’s scales and drew out a tube of blood, which he then handed to Zerg.
“Then I’ll trouble you to continue your research, Lord Zerg.”
“No trouble at all. I am also very curious about the creature’s subsequent modifications.”
After saying goodbye to Zerg and closing the communication device, Liu Hui felt a wave of relief wash over him now that he knew Little Black could survive in the ocean. Given its current colossal size, the basement was entirely insufficient. Finding a place on land to feed it was too risky for discovery. Now, the vast ocean would perfectly conceal Little Black’s activities.
Liu Hui observed Little Black. After growing over twenty meters long, the scales on its surface were entirely pitch black, and with a body diameter approaching one meter, its gaping mouth could easily swallow a person whole. When it coiled its body and stared with emotionless eyes, it radiated an intense sense of oppression; a timid person would likely faint on the spot.
Liu Hui retrieved a large quantity of meat chunks from his storage space—food he had prepared in advance for when Little Black awoke.
He directed Little Black to swallow these meat chunks, then told it to stay put in the basement while he returned to his office to continue working.
Finally, night fell. As the entire area was shrouded in darkness, Liu Hui immediately summoned Wu Yuanjia and instructed him to reorganize the security patrols across the entire factory compound, specifically ordering the shutdown of all surveillance cameras facing the sea. He also commanded that the gate facing the ocean be opened and all personnel withdrawn from that area.
Although Liu Hui did not disclose the purpose of these actions to Wu Yuanjia, Wu Yuanjia knew his boss was exceptionally mysterious and must have secrets he wished to keep hidden. Therefore, Wu Yuanjia personally managed the personnel movements and shut down the monitors in that direction, explaining to the security staff that it was a drill and emphasizing the need for absolute secrecy. Only after all arrangements were made did he notify Liu Hui.
Liu Hui entered the basement and opened the heavy door, then controlled Little Black to slowly crawl out. When the massive body of Little Black was fully outside, Liu Hui was stunned by its sheer size. The largest pythons documented in historical photographs were only around twelve meters long, yet Little Black already stretched past twenty-five meters. Little Black slowly made its way toward the sea along an unmonitored passage Liu Hui had cleared, with Liu Hui following closely behind.
Little Black reached the ocean's edge, leaving a deep trench in the sand. Seeing that this might be problematic, Liu Hui quickly directed Little Black to use its tail to sweep the trench smooth.
Liu Hui then commanded Little Black to enter the sea. It slowly crept into the water, the waves enveloping its gigantic form as it began to swim. Liu Hui stood on the shore, sensing Little Black’s condition.
When sensing Little Black, Liu Hui experienced a very peculiar sensation, as if he himself were swimming in the sea. He could clearly feel the movement of the water, yet he was acutely aware that he was still standing on the shore. It felt like he had suddenly split into two beings, able to control both Little Black’s body and his own simultaneously. If Little Black could speak, he surmised he could even command both to speak at once—a truly novel feeling.
Once Little Black entered the ocean, Liu Hui sensed its excitement. He guided it to dive to the seabed and swim swiftly. After Little Black became accustomed to navigating the depths, Liu Hui began to direct it eastward, needing to ascertain the maximum distance he could maintain control over it.
Zerg’s modification fluid had proven highly effective. Little Black’s swimming speed in the water was astonishingly fast. Without professional equipment, Liu Hui couldn't calculate the exact speed, but based on his feeling, Little Black was definitely moving faster than a car on a highway, conservatively estimating over two hundred kilometers per hour.
Liu Hui had an intuitive feeling; he could clearly perceive Little Black’s relative position to his own body and the exact distance separating them. This sensation was profound and inexplicable—the moment he conceived of Little Black’s direction and distance, that information materialized instantly in his mind.
Little Black maintained high speed, heading east along the seabed. Along the way, it encountered numerous underwater trenches and various species of fish. However, Liu Hui did not stop to explore; he was urgently focused on determining his control limit.
Little Black swam in the ocean for about half an hour when Liu Hui noticed the connection to it becoming intermittent. He knew he had reached his control limit and immediately commanded Little Black to halt.
Liu Hui checked his watch; more than thirty minutes had passed in Gongzhou. Little Black was now one hundred kilometers away. Its speed had reached a terrifying two hundred and forty kilometers per hour—a speed most sports cars couldn't maintain on a highway! Furthermore, Little Black had traveled this entire distance without rest, maintaining such a terrifying pace, brimming with strength and showing no signs of fatigue.
Liu Hui consulted a map and discovered Little Black was situated over a deep-sea trench, with no islands nearby. He commanded Little Black to dive to the seafloor to hunt.
It was nighttime, and the surroundings were pitch black, yet Liu Hui realized Little Black perceived its environment clearly without relying on sight. It sensed the surrounding topography and the movement of fish with extraordinary clarity, even better than visual observation.
Curiously, Liu Hui ordered Little Black to pursue a large sea fish. The large fish, perhaps sensing danger, immediately turned to flee. But at Little Black’s terrifying speed of two hundred and forty kilometers per hour, the fish was caught almost instantly.
Liu Hui immediately gave Little Black the command to devour the fish. Upon receiving the order, Little Black’s twenty-meter-plus body rapidly closed in on the large fish, coiling around it. With a slight tightening of its muscles, the fish was squeezed into several segments, blood clouding the water. Little Black opened its massive jaws and swallowed the large fish in a few bites.
Liu Hui rejoiced. Little Black’s constriction attack was incredible; it had already torn the fish into pieces without exerting its full power. Moreover, it seemed Little Black enjoyed eating saltwater fish, solving a major feeding concern for the future. Just as he was about to order Little Black to return, several dark shapes suddenly appeared and began encircling Little Black.
Liu Hui quickly sensed through Little Black that the surrounding threats were four enormous Great White Sharks. Liu Hui had no idea why so many Great Whites were present in this area.
The sharks had been drawn by the scent of the fish Little Black had just killed. Upon arrival, they found Little Black flaunting its dominance in their territory and were instantly enraged. The four Great Whites closed in on Little Black.
Each shark measured a full seven meters in length and weighed approximately four tons.
Great Whites are notoriously ferocious and bloodthirsty predators. Seeing an unknown creature trespassing, not only stealing their meal but also contemptuously challenging their authority, they attacked Little Black in concert. Although Little Black spanned twenty-five meters and looked immense, the Great Whites were formidable; their teeth were razor-sharp, and a single bite could have severe consequences. The sharks opened their massive mouths and charged. Liu Hui ordered Little Black to kill all four Great Whites.
Receiving the command, Little Black immediately entered a combat state. It whipped its tail, striking one Great White forcefully on the head. A deep gash immediately opened on the white head, bleeding profusely. Before the shark could react, Little Black’s tail struck its head again, this time driving directly into the skull, smashing out the brain matter. The shark instantly went limp, undeniably dead.
The other three sharks paused in shock, but before they could react, Little Black rushed forward. Its twenty-five-meter serpentine body wrapped around one Great White. Little Black tightened its coils, instantly crushing the shark into two halves.
Seeing the situation had turned dire, the remaining two Great Whites swiftly turned to flee. Little Black gave chase at high speed and quickly caught up to one of the sharks. Little Black opened its cavernous mouth and tore a large chunk of flesh from the shark’s body. It did not swallow the piece but spat it out and immediately continued tearing at the shark’s flesh. The shark thrashed violently but could not stop Little Black’s relentless biting. The shark soon ceased struggling, having been reduced to a bare skeleton by Little Black’s rapid, savage assault.
The last shark had fled a considerable distance, but Little Black pursued it at high speed, catching up quickly. Maintaining its pace, Little Black rammed its head into the shark’s body. There was a dull thud as Little Black’s serpentine head punched straight through the shark’s body, impaling it clean through, like a skewer through a fish. Little Black gave a powerful flex of its body and slid out of the shark’s carcass, which immediately sank toward the seabed.
Witnessing the entire kill sequence, Liu Hui gasped involuntarily. He had not anticipated Little Black’s savage nature; having only ordered the death of the four Great Whites, Little Black had brutally eliminated them using four distinct methods. He finally recognized Little Black’s terrifying strength; the four immensely powerful Great Whites, arguably apex predators of the sea, were utterly defenseless against it.
Little Black’s power filled Liu Hui with elation. With it, he possessed another trump card. And Little Black was only in its first transformation; when it grew into a colossal five-hundred-meter behemoth, what nightmare would it become for others?
Liu Hui did not micro-manage the movements this time; he simply gave Little Black the command to return. Little Black complied, heading back. Though Liu Hui was not actively controlling it, he could sense its approach toward him. About twenty kilometers from Hong Kong, Liu Hui commanded Little Black to stop. On the way out, Liu Hui had noticed a long, narrow trench in the seabed, and he guided Little Black to descend into it.
This trench reached a depth of over five hundred meters. The entrance at the surface was narrow, but the internal space was vast, and the area was rich with marine life. Until he could find a better location, Liu Hui decided Little Black would temporarily reside here, hunting the surrounding fish when hungry. Little Black showed no signs of discomfort at the five-hundred-meter depth.
Liu Hui could never allow Little Black to appear in public; such an event would trigger mass panic and bring him unwanted trouble. Thus, he found a hiding place for Little Black within this trench, instructing it to remain concealed there permanently to avoid detection. Moreover, its location was only twenty kilometers from Hong Kong, meaning Little Black could arrive quickly should Liu Hui require its aid.
