We were snatched into the palm of a massive hand, an absolute catastrophe. Considering the sheer size and power of that hand, a single gentle squeeze could have crushed us instantly.
However, the entity holding us apparently had no immediate intention of killing us. Clutched in its palm, we felt it begin to move slowly, as if transporting us somewhere.
I certainly didn't want to remain a passive object of its will, so I told the other two, "Attack the finger joints with all your strength, or we won't be far from death." The other two clearly felt the same. Da Xiong began charging up his Fireball Spell, Nie Chuan drew his pistol, and I focused my mind, layering psionic energy onto my arm.
"I'll count one, two, three, then we all strike the same spot," I declared, pulling out my flashlight and illuminating one of the giant palm’s finger joints. "Three, two, one!" As I finished counting, the psionic energy left my hand, and Nie Chuan’s bullet and Da Xiong’s fireball flew forth.
With a deafening CRACK, a massive explosion made our ears ring, and the colossal hand shuddered, revealing a fissure. Seeing the daylight stream through, though unsteady on our feet, we scrambled and tumbled toward the beam of light.
Successfully breaking free from the crack, I realized we were suspended high above a dense forest, a seemingly endless green ocean below us. Fortunately, we weren't excessively high off the ground; even if we couldn't summon the Somersault Cloud in time, we could use psionic energy to cushion the impact of the fall.
As we lost balance and drifted toward a massive tree, we looked back to see what the giant hand belonged to. But when we turned, there was nothing to see at all.
This revelation was staggering, almost unbelievable. I had no time to ponder it; I crashed onto the great tree, a sharp pain hitting my back as I snapped a branch as thick as an arm.
I quickly used psionic energy to cushion all three of us simultaneously, and ultimately, none of us sustained serious injuries, landing on three sturdy branches not far apart. Our arrival startled the various birds roosting in the tree, causing them to fly up with strange squawks.
After catching our breath, Da Xiong remarked, "Now I understand why we didn't see the giant on the cliff—that giant was completely invisible!" I wasn't sure whether to believe Da Xiong, but I couldn't offer any other explanation either. "We need to get down from this tree immediately, or it might get crushed to powder along with us," I warned them.
The others clearly grasped the severity of the situation and followed me down the trunk. Upon reaching the ground, we looked around and found the surroundings somewhat familiar.
Sparse trees, strange rocks scattered among the woods, and underbrush that wasn't overly thick. Looking into the distance, I spotted a brown-furred monkey lying atop a large stone, fast asleep.
All three of us lit up with joy and rushed over, shouting, "Master! Wake up, it’s time to eat!" Sun Wukong didn't seem deeply asleep, or perhaps wasn't sleeping at all; he sat up from the stone and said to us, "I really did gain three disciples.
I thought it was just a dream. How was it?
Did you find water and food?" We nodded. Da Xiong took down the lizard tail hanging from his waist, and I opened the canteen for Wukong to drink.
Wukong finished the entire canteen and then pointed at the tail, asking, "What is this thing?" Da Xiong grinned slyly and replied, "Master, don't worry about it. Just wait and see my craftsmanship." Saying that, he placed the tail on the ground and went off to gather firewood.
Taking this opportunity to rest, Nie Chuan and I sat down, gasping for air and taking sips of water. Then, we recounted the incident of being attacked by the giant hand to Wukong.
Wukong was clearly surprised too, saying, "A giant fifty or sixty meters tall? And it can turn invisible?" We both nodded and looked at him.
Wukong scratched his cheek and mused, "How could such a thing exist? Someone must be playing tricks on you from the shadows." I suddenly remembered something and asked, "Master, may I see your hand?" Wukong’s eyes darted around.
"My old Sun’s palms are very rough; there’s nothing to see." "Master, was that giant hand you just now?" I asked suspiciously. Wukong angrily scratched his head.
"You impudent boy, daring to suspect your master." I stuck out my tongue and said, "Because besides Master, I truly cannot imagine anyone else possessing such immense power." The Monkey King couldn't resist flattery and burst into loud laughter. "Very well, I shall forgive you this time.
Here, you can look at my hand." With that, he extended his palm for us to examine. Indeed, we saw no signs of attack on the knuckles of his fingers.
Thinking back, even if Wukong wanted to test us, he wouldn't strike so heavily. If we hadn't dodged in time, we would surely have been turned into paste.
As I was thinking, Wukong asked me, "What did you just say? That besides you, no one else could possess such profound magic?" Seeing that he seemed to have an idea, I nodded.
"Yes, is there a problem with that statement?" Wukong pondered for a moment and said, "No, besides me, there is one other person who possesses such power. Could it be him?
If it is truly him, things are about to get complicated." He then sighed, "Alright, it's getting late. This place is even more terrifying at night, so let's find a place to rest for the night." As soon as he finished speaking, Da Xiong ran back carrying a huge pile of firewood.
He placed the wood on the ground and lit a bonfire; the comforting warmth immediately settled our nerves. Then, Da Xiong skinned the lizard tail and sprinkled some seasoning on it before placing it over the fire to roast.
In a short while, a strange, delicious aroma reached us, making us all involuntarily swallow. At that moment, Nie Chuan nudged my arm and said, "Aren't monks supposed to eat vegetarian food?
Will Master refuse to eat this lizard meat?" Wukong's ears were far more sensitive than we thought. As soon as we finished speaking, he turned around and said, "I wasn't hungry anyway; some water is enough for me." I was speechless for a moment and kicked Da Xiong.
"I told you to find meat!" Da Xiong looked wronged. "I didn't think of that at the time, and neither of you reminded me!" "It's fine.
I sent you out to find food so you could fill your own bellies; whether I eat or not is irrelevant." Wukong's face glowed in the firelight, yet he seemed overly calm. I didn't overthink it, thanked Master, and helped Da Xiong roast the meat.
Before long, a fragrant lizard tail was ready, its aroma absolutely irresistible. The three of us used our military knives to cut the tail into three sections and began gnawing on our respective pieces.
While eating, we kept praising how wonderful it tasted. Although the appearance of the lizard-man was repulsive, making it difficult for me to accept eating its flesh, thankfully it was only a tail; I don't think I could have managed other parts.
While eating, I specifically observed Wukong's expression and noticed he seemed unnaturally quiet, occasionally glancing at the meat in our hands, a strange glimmer flashing in his eyes. I didn't dwell on it, thinking perhaps the monkey was tired after a day of laughing and joking.
After we finished eating, Wukong somehow produced two wild fruits from an unknown source and began munching on them. While chewing, he told us, "The Dragon Bone Forest is extremely dangerous at night.
The sun is about to set; let's find a safe place to stay quickly." I nodded and asked, "Is there a cave or tree hollow nearby that could accommodate the four of us?" Wukong replied, "No need. I have this." Saying that, he plucked a monkey hair from behind his neck, blew gently into his palm, and it instantly transformed into a perfectly square house.
All three of us applauded in amazement, but Da Xiong then asked, "Why doesn't this house have any windows?" Wukong paused, then explained, "Oh, because if there were windows, it would be easy for other monsters to crawl in." Da Xiong frowned. "But then the room would be awfully stuffy." Wukong’s expression darkened.
"Fine. You all go inside first.
I can conjure a window for you." I began to feel suspicious of Wukong’s behavior because he kept rushing us into the house. Perhaps he didn't notice, but I realized he had urged us several times in just a few short sentences.
We had no choice but to obey the Master's command, and although Wukong’s expression was odd, his Ruyi Jingu Bang and monkey hairs were things no one else could imitate. So, we walked toward the house, one after the other.
Just as we reached the doorway, we suddenly felt a fierce demonic gust of wind blow up, causing me to stumble forward several steps. Glancing back unintentionally, I saw Wukong floating up from where he stood, his eyes glowing red.
Before we could figure out what was happening, we heard a sharp WHOOSH overhead as a massive staff plummeted down from above. The three of us instinctively backed away as the staff crashed down, smashing the house into splinters.
"Is that... Master's Ruyi Jingu Bang?" Da Xiong asked curiously.
At that moment, I turned back and saw the Wukong floating behind us still holding the golden staff, clearly never having let it go. As confusion mounted, a voice suddenly rang out, "What fiend dares impersonate Old Sun and bully my disciples!" As the words faded, the staff rapidly shrank, returning to the hand of a person radiating killing intent.
We looked up—it was Wukong. The Wukong floating behind us snarled through clenched teeth, "The debt of a single blow must be repaid.
Sun Wukong, it is time we settled the score from five hundred years ago!"
