Gu Xiechen, wearing nothing but swim trunks, was taking a shower. The wooden bucket he held was carved from ten-thousand-year Dragon-Patterned Golden Sandalwood—the very kind used by the Yellow Turban Warriors to water the Celestial Peaches. The large storage vat before him was forged entirely from the essence of Celestial River Silver Star Sand. Lined along the perimeter wall of the Peach Garden, there were exactly ten thousand and eighty such vats, all dedicated to holding the Celestial River’s spiritual water.
Attending to Gu Xiechen during his shower were several breathtakingly beautiful maidens, their dark hair lush and complexions rosy. Yet, despite their beauty, they lacked the warmth of mortal life. Though appearing as ordinary young women, a faint greenish aura subtly seeped from beneath their skin and features. These were the oldest several Peach Trees within the garden, having cultivated themselves into female immortals, now serving as Gu Xiechen’s personal attendants.
In the words of Fu Ya Seven Nether, she simply did not trust any other woman to serve Gu Xiechen. Only these female immortals, cultivated from the Peach Trees, were completely beyond suspicion. "She didn't believe Gu Xiechen would ever take an interest in several ancient trees towering tens of thousands of feet high!" The sentiment was frustratingly true, yet undeniably factual.
Under the careful ministrations of these female immortals, Gu Xiechen bathed without a single distracting thought. He languidly donned his robes, draped a large bath robe around himself, and slowly ambled over to a pavilion situated beneath one of the great Peach Trees, where he took a seat. Just as he settled in, a troupe of little maids, scampering about, rushed over, bearing platters piled high with various fruits, confections, and immortal teas and wines, setting them down in a large spread before Gu Xiechen.
The Corpse Emperor sat opposite Gu Xiechen, engrossed in a celestial text he had retrieved from the restricted archives behind the High Heavens Palace. Seeing Gu Xiechen arrive, he casually set aside the jade-slate codex and asked with a hearty laugh, "What does the taste of sainthood feel like?"
Crossing one leg over the other, after a moment of contemplation, Gu Xiechen shrugged indifferently. "Exactly the same as before, perhaps just a touch more tedious."
Before achieving sainthood, Gu Xiechen constantly worried, calculating this and guarding against that, always fearful that someone might scheme against him or harm his loved ones. He felt constantly encumbered by troubles, never able to rest. Now that he was a Saint, the sole Saint across the Three Realms, having replaced Hongjun as the representative of the Heavenly Dao, he discovered he simply had nothing left to do. What purpose remained for him?
He had used the roof of the High Heavens Palace as a bed, showered in the Peach Garden, soaked his feet in the Celestial River, and strung up a hammock in the Osmanthus Tree on the Lunar Star to nap... He had tried countless eccentric pastimes, yet he still didn't know what else to pursue.
With sainthood came the absolute removal of pressure; it was utterly, profoundly boring. Yet, he absolutely could not engage in random acts simply to seek amusement. Any slight action he took now would instantly be interpreted as a monumental event by the countless surrounding immortals and deities, who would rush to execute it for him. A simple whim meant to pass the time would immediately spiral into a situation laughable and frustrating.
Just two months prior, Gu Xiechen had conspired with Guo Hua to secretly sell a shipment of high-tech weaponry to one of two warring empires on a planet in the mortal realm.
The result? Somehow, word leaked out. A legion of Celestial Soldiers and Heavenly Generals, aware of Gu Xiechen’s movements, suddenly materialized and annihilated the enemy nation of the arms-purchasing empire overnight.
This outcome was devastating for Gu Xiechen, who had once aspired to become the universe's foremost arms dealer. He had merely sold weapons; he hadn't announced a career change to mercenary work, nor was he obligated to risk his life for the faction that bought his goods! His last shred of personal enjoyment had been ruthlessly stripped away by his excessively loyal subordinates. Resting his chin on his hands, Gu Xiechen gazed helplessly at the Corpse Emperor, then suddenly let out a long sigh to the heavens.
"No wonder those ancient Saints were either scheming or calculating against each other; they must have been bored to the extreme, playing games only among themselves behind closed doors! In the depths of their ennui, they even used their own disciples as chess pieces for their amusement. Shame on them!"
Watching the crestfallen Gu Xiechen, the Corpse Emperor let out a silent chuckle, then picked up the codex detailing countless ancient secrets and resumed reading, shaking his head. The Corpse Emperor was in an exceptionally good mood, truly delighted.
Under his diligent management, the Nine Nether Path had become the supreme ruler of the Three Realms, and the utterly talentless little apprentice he had once accepted was now the sole Saint. Such an achievement was more than satisfying for the Corpse Emperor. With this accomplishment, he felt he had honored all the past masters of the Nine Nether Path, truly bringing glory to the sect. What more could he ask for?
Here, amidst the splendor of the Heavenly Palace, drinking wine, reading books, savoring occasional blood feasts, cultivating his mind free of pressure, and occasionally watching Gu Xiechen look utterly dejected—at this stage in life, he truly desired nothing more.
If the Corpse Emperor still harbored any ambition, it was merely to cultivate diligently and see if he possessed the potential to become a Saint himself! Beyond that, what pursuit remained? The only Saint was his disciple; what else could he aspire to?
Seeing the Corpse Emperor’s complacent tranquility, Gu Xiechen sighed toward the sky again, promptly tightened his bath robe, and lay down in the bamboo couch to drift off to sleep. With the sound of a bell chime, his Three Corpse Primordial Spirits surged upward from his physical body, trailing streams of spiritual light, coalescing into three faint clouds that circled above him. The dense spiritual energy and stellar power of the Heavenly Palace rapidly poured in, ceaselessly infusing Gu Xiechen’s form.
While the Three Corpse Primordial Spirits cultivated autonomously, Gu Xiechen focused all his consciousness internally.
The Chaos Saint Power circulated rapidly within his body, splitting into countless wisps that constructed numerous complex Wheels of Law throughout his frame. These Wheels of Law, representing the various powers of the Heavenly Dao, emitted a faint glow within Gu Xiechen, forming an organic whole.
Gu Xiechen currently lacked sufficient Chaos Saint Power, meaning he could not yet evolve every single Wheel of Law within himself, as the Primordial Celestial Demon had. He could only proceed step-by-step, laying the foundation and continually constructing one Wheel of Law after another.
First, he created the core rune spheres for these Wheels of Law, and then he delineated the other structural components of the Wheel. He continuously infused them with Chaos Saint Power, and once this power nearly solidified the structure of the Wheel of Law, its construction phase concluded.
Presently, only a sparse twenty-odd Wheels of Law spun within Gu Xiechen’s body; the rest remained unfinished prototypes.
Only when Gu Xiechen had constructed every single Wheel of Law within himself could he combine them all to form the Wheel of the Heavenly Dao, the embodiment of the Heavenly Dao itself. At that point, Gu Xiechen would surpass the former Hongjun, becoming the very incarnation of the Heavenly Dao.
In the past, when Hongjun governed the Heavenly Dao, Hongjun was the Heavenly Dao, but the Heavenly Dao was not Hongjun. However, if Gu Xiechen constructed all the Wheels of Law internally and then evolved them into the Wheel of the Heavenly Dao, Gu Xiechen would be the Heavenly Dao, and the Heavenly Dao would be Gu Xiechen. The difference between these states was incomparable.
The construction of a Wheel of Law was incredibly difficult. Even with the supreme power of Chaos Saint Power as support, building a single Wheel was a monumental task. The exact placement of every rune, their relative positions and angles, the chronological sequence of derivative runes, and even the speed at which the runes rotated—any slight deviation would result in the failure of the Wheel’s construction. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of Xin Long'er and others, Gu Xiechen now commanded over a trillion faithful followers in the mortal realm. These trillions of believers constantly offered up their devout Power of Faith. This faith power not only allowed Gu Xiechen to emit the Light of Faith to stabilize the cultivation realms of the core disciples of the Nine Nether Path but, more importantly, served as an auxiliary component for constructing the Wheels of Law.
With the aid of the Power of Faith, Gu Xiechen’s divine sense became sharper, more focused, and incredibly minute. Originally, constructing the Wheels of Law—controlling the Chaos Saint Power to forge various structures—was akin to operating an excavator to perform embroidery: clumsy and difficult to succeed.
But with the enhancement of the Power of Faith, Gu Xiechen’s divine sense suddenly soared to an unimaginable level. His control over the Chaos Saint Power instantly transformed, as if he were now using a laser engraver capable of etching intricate printed circuit boards, allowing for minute control over rune generation. With the Power of Faith, the process of building a Wheel of Law became at least one hundred thousand times easier!
Secretly praising the endless utility of the Faith Power, Gu Xiechen dedicated all his strength to the construction of the Wheels of Law. He had no further interest in external matters; his entire concentration was fixed upon the wondrous transformations occurring within his own body, isolating himself from all external connection.
If everything proceeded smoothly, he could construct all the Wheels of Law within the span of one Yuanhui. Then, with perhaps two more Yuanhui of strenuous effort, he could condense the Wheels of Law, evolve the Wheel of the Heavenly Dao, and subsequently become the incarnation of the Heavenly Dao.
Becoming the incarnation of the Heavenly Dao might well be the only pursuit and source of pleasure available to Saint Gu Xiechen now. Therefore, he poured his entire being into the construction of the Wheels of Law, allocating every scrap of his energy without reservation.
Just as Gu Xiechen was wholeheartedly striving for this advancement, on a certain planet in the mortal realm, Mohe was engaged in an activity that brought him immense pleasure—he was pulling the little nun Qingyin through a super-luxurious shopping mall, buying her a bikini swimsuit!
Of course, on this particular planet, such a minuscule garment, consisting of only a few scraps of cloth, wasn't called a 'bikini,' but that didn't alter its fundamental nature. Such scant, slippery, transparent material—one could easily imagine the effect when worn on the body.
The renegade Buddhist leader, the Yellow Robe Dharma King, had sealed off the entire mall. Within the vast commercial space, only Mohe, the little nun Qingyin, and a group of terrified, stunned young and beautiful female sales assistants remained. These assistants stood meekly to one side, watching as Mohe tried every means of flattery and temptation on the beautiful and delicate little nun Qingyin.
