Outside the Golden Bamboo Cave, three old monks turned and left with ashen faces. The bare-chested, yellow-robed Dharma King spat contemptuously at the departing monks, sneering, "A bunch of nonsensical old bald donkeys, offering no benefits at all, yet expecting us to defend against the invasion of the Demon Lord? The blue-robed Dharma King beside him was even more vulgar: "We only asked them to send out Junior Sister Qingyin to warm our Master's bed, and eight thousand nuns to wash feet and fold quilts. They won't even agree to these minor conditions, yet they want us to bleed and fight? Do they really think they are Shen Gongbao and we are just meat shields? Those three old fossils were shaking all over, yet they didn't even have the courage to look back once."
It was common knowledge that the Golden Bamboo Cave was a major anomaly within the Parama-Nirvana-Jialotian sect. Although it housed Buddhist cultivators, they were the dregs of the faith, a disgrace to Buddhism—a group of lawless brutes who ate meat and drank wine. Suppressing their anger, they absolutely had to hold it in. Clashing with these bastards right on their doorstep would have terrifying consequences; they simply could not afford to provoke them.
Quickly flying away on clouds, the three old monks hurried towards several Buddhist mountain sanctuaries near the Golden Bamboo Cave. They needed to personally visit and invite the great eminent monks and venerable masters residing in those forests to gather at the Huian Great Snow Mountain to jointly deal with the invading Demon Lord. This time, the attitude of the Great Snow Mountain was extremely cautious, and the efficiency of their actions was frighteningly high.
After the major invasion by the Nine Nether Dao back then, the Buddhist cultivators of the Great Snow Mountain finally understood that cultivators from the lower realm could not be underestimated; among them existed countless beings capable of posing a threat to them. And this time, the invaders were not some unknown minor power from the lower realm, but the Guardians of Heaven—a group infamous since ancient times—who had even moved the Three-Alliance City right to the doorstep of the Great Snow Mountain! With pressure like Mount Tai bearing down, the Buddhist cultivators of the Great Snow Mountain were filled with apprehension.
Just as squads of old monks were being dispatched everywhere to invite aid, the Three-Alliance City had already landed before the gates of the Great Snow Mountain.
The massive Three-Alliance City, with its lowest tier alone being a hundred feet taller than the highest main peak of the Great Snow Mountain, consisted of hundreds of tiers soaring into the clouds. It was truly a sight that even the Dharma Eyes of Buddhism could not discern the total height of the city. Furthermore, the area covered by each tier of the Three-Alliance City was hundreds of times larger than the entire land area of the Great Snow Mountain. The shadow of the Three-Alliance City completely eclipsed the Great Snow Mountain.
Countless members of the Guardians of Heaven stood atop the tiers of the city walls, laughing and pointing down at the panicked Buddhist cultivators below. Some Asuras and Rakshasas with particularly malicious dispositions had set up magically propelled powerful crossbow cannons, bombarding the Great Snow Mountain with rhythmic thump-thump-thump-thump sounds.
Utilizing the endless demonic power of the Three-Alliance City, each shot from these specialized powerful crossbows could travel hundreds of thousands of miles, possessing enough energy to pierce the earth and shatter stars. These were the strongest defensive weapons of the Three-Alliance City during the ancient wars between the Asuras and the Heavenly Gods; countless Heavenly Gods and their mounts had been pulverized by these terrifying ballistae.
Now, these Asuras and Rakshasas casually opened fire with the wall-mounted crossbows as if joking. Nearly ten thousand crossbows fired simultaneously, instantly unleashing tens of thousands of intense beams of light like meteors plummeting toward the earth, leaving behind dazzling, brilliant streaks of flame in the air. The head-sized demonic crystal projectiles shot out by the crossbows had already struck hundreds of monasteries, thousands of valleys, and tens of thousands of beautifully scenic mountains and rivers along the periphery of the Great Snow Mountain.
With a sound like a thunderclap on flat ground, a monastery exploded skyward amidst a blinding flash of fire. Countless mangled limbs and severed arms sprayed in all directions. The monastery, which once spanned several li, was wiped clean, leaving behind a pit ten li deep where it stood.
Hundreds of monasteries suffered the same fate. Unless one possessed the cultivation of a Taiyi Golden Immortal or a Daluo Golden Immortal, any monk below the Taiyi Golden Immortal level—regardless of the cultivation techniques they practiced, even if they had hardened their bodies to be as indestructible as Vajra—would still be blown to smithereens by the crossbows.
Thousands of beautifully scenic valleys collapsed amid tremendous roars, and countless spiritual herbs, birds, and beasts vanished into smoke and fire.
Tens of thousands of famous mountains and great rivers, some beautiful and some magnificent, were struck by the erratically fired crossbow bolts, instantly exploding into dust amid vast clouds of smoke and thunderous noise. The massive shockwave shook the deep snowpack of a vast expanse of nearby mountains. A flash of white light collapsed from the distant horizon—a magnificent avalanche spread rapidly from the far edge of the sky towards them, instantly filling the entire visible area with rolling snow chunks of all sizes.
A deep, high-pitched Buddhist chant echoed from afar. A middle-aged monk, three zhang tall and carrying a demon-subduing pestle, charged furiously out from within the Great Snow Mountain. From a great distance, this monk, who possessed the cultivation of a Mid-grade Taiyi Golden Immortal, sternly shouted, "Which fiend dares to..."
The Asura King, Fanyafu Bu Jing, rushed out, grabbed the monk, opened his mouth, and swallowed him whole with a single gulp, not even taking time to chew. Fanya laughed excitedly, dancing with glee: "Wonderful! Delicious! The muscles are firm, the blood is rich and fragrant. In the Three Realms, the only delicacies better than these monks are the celestial maidens of the Shura and Gandharva!"
Exhaling deeply, Fanya shouted towards the Great Snow Mountain, "Bald donkeys, hurry up and send out three thousand tender-skinned little nuns so that your King can roast and eat them!"
Silence fell over the Great Snow Mountain. The assembled eminent monks and venerable masters looked at each other, their mouths agape, unable to speak.
The Nine Nether Dao’s attack back then had at least had a legitimate cause: they were trying to rescue Fuya 7 Ming, who had been forcefully abducted by the Old Nun Wuxing. But these Brahmin Demon Kings had no reason for attacking the Great Snow Mountain other than simply wanting to attack it. Moreover, judging by Fanya's behavior, Buddhist cultivators were mere food in his eyes!
Negotiations were possible with the Nine Nether Dao, but with the Brahmin Demon Kings, the Buddhist cultivators had no basis for discussion.
After a long silence, two old monks, both possessing the peak cultivation of Daluo Golden Immortals, emerged from the Great Snow Mountain, leading a vast throng of thousands of junior monks and nuns, all possessing at least the peak cultivation of Taiyi Golden Immortals. These two old monks chanted Buddhist names and announced their titles from afar. One was Master Huangye, and the other was Master Xixin. After the departure of Old Nun Wuxing, they had become the new Buddhist leaders of the Huian Great Snow Mountain.
Fanya looked upon the group of monks and nuns with disdain. He merely cackled wildly, constantly smacking his lips as if savoring the flavor of the monk he had just eaten.
Master Huangye's face darkened intensely. He sternly shouted, "Fanya, you were once a member of my Buddhist sect, why do you attack my Great Snow Mountain and my Buddhist lineage?"
Fanya glared, cursing: "You are the Buddhist donkey, your son is a Buddhist donkey, your daughter is a Buddhist donkey, your entire family are Buddhist donkeys! Cut the nonsense. All the bald donkeys of Parama-Nirvana-Jialotian who willingly submit to us and accept our demonic vows will live. All who refuse will be annihilated!"
Vimocitrola, an Asura Demon King of equal renown to Fanya, eagerly emerged from the Three-Alliance City. He pointed at Huangye and Xixin, laughing loudly: "If you refuse, it suits our purpose perfectly. All the male bald donkeys will be slaughtered and eaten. All the female bald donkeys—the very old ones will be slaughtered and eaten. The middle-aged and young ones can be captured to have some fun, and then eaten afterward! Delightful, utterly delightful!"
Huangye and Xixin's faces became exceedingly grim. They shouted sternly, "Namo Amitabha, demons are demons. It is a waste of the painstaking efforts of our two Patriarchs to try and convert you! You stubborn, unrepentant wretches, today we shall transcend you!"
Fanya just laughed, mocking them so hard he bent over backward: "Transcend us? I’m so scared! Hehehehe, come, this King shall transcend a few of you little nuns first!"
With a wave of his large hand, the void shook violently. Fanya’s epithet was Valiant and Vigorous; he was the fiercest, most agile, and fastest Demon King among the Asuras. His surprise attack was as swift as wind and lightning. An arm instantly shot out behind Master Huangye. His vast palm, spanning several zhang, grabbed hold, and the three nuns—renowned for their stunning beauty and dignified bearing—were snatched up by Fanya in one sweep.
The three nuns appeared to be merely young maidens of sixteen or seventeen, yet each possessed the cultivation of an Initial-grade Daluo Golden Immortal, having cultivated diligently for countless youshe (eons) as eminent Buddhist monks. Suddenly seized by Fanya's surprise attack, others would have panicked and screamed, but the three nuns only let out cold shouts. They calmly activated their Buddhist Dharma artifacts and slammed them toward Fanya’s large hand.
A Zen staff transformed into a golden dragon descending mightily upon Fanya’s arm. A Vajra Sword transformed into countless streaks of fire, sweeping and stabbing everywhere, haphazardly hacking at Fanya’s finger joints. The Diamond Sutra book carried an overwhelmingly majestic aura. Pages flew up, transforming into golden, auspicious light-rays hundreds of zhang wide, descending upon him. Innumerable scriptures flickered within, its power truly terrifying.
But Fanya merely chuckled derisively a few times. He tightened his fingers; the bones of the three nuns clicked loudly throughout their bodies as he squeezed them until they fainted. The three Dharma artifacts attacking him were met by Fanya casually forming a Buddhist mudra, pointing out a few beams of Buddhist Demon-Subduing Golden Light, and effortlessly absorbing the three artifacts into his palm.
The Guardians of Heaven were once employed by Buddhism and held extremely high status after being conferred the title of Dharma Protectors. Except for the Two Buddhist Saints, Amitabha Buddha, and a few qualified Buddhas, virtually no one else could command them. Precisely because of their special status and high standing, although they originated from the Brahmins, they had mastered countless Buddhist divine abilities and cultivated numerous Buddhist techniques.
In contrast, the Buddhist cultivation techniques practiced by the monks and nuns of the Huian Great Snow Mountain were, in Fanya’s eyes, simply beneath notice—they were shallow methods practiced only by their disciples and grand-disciples. What effect could such Buddhist divine abilities have when used to attack Fanya?
Huangye and Xixin could not intercept Fanya in time; his movements were far too fast. With just one hand, and casually forming a hand seal, he had abducted the three nuns and their three Buddhist weapons.
The two old monks’ hearts clenched in fright. At their command, the thousands of monks and nuns behind them attacked in unison. Vast swathes of Buddhist light and auspicious energy rose into the sky, enveloping thousands of divine Buddhist weapons and magic treasures, which rained down upon Fanya.
Vimocitrola burst into loud laughter, shaking his head repeatedly: "Hinayana Buddhism, Pratyekabuddha disciples—alas, you are so weak!"
With a great laugh, Vimocitrola's nine thousand eyes across his nine heads simultaneously emitted brilliant golden light. His nine hundred and ninety arms swung forcefully, immediately spewing forth a massive expanse of seven-colored Buddhist light from his body. A phantom image of a Buddha, radiant in golden light, manifested above his head. This phantom Buddha was eight zhang and one chi tall, utterly drenched in golden light, enveloped by a protective canopy of seven-colored glazed light—truly majestic in form and boundless in power.
This phantom Buddha's gaze swept dismissively over the shower of Buddhist artifacts and light descending from the sky. His right hand waved gently, like a Buddha displaying a subtle smile. A few translucent petals of the Golden Poomala flower flickered and vanished in the void. A ray of bright light scattered down, completely shattering all the magic artifacts and light emanating from the thousands of monks and nuns.
A strong scent of sandalwood diffused through the void. The Buddhist light from the thousands of monks and nuns dissolved into countless streaks of light rain, while the thousands of Buddhist artifacts obediently flew into Vimocitrola's hands, like well-trained puppies.
The golden light emanating from Vimocitrola’s nine thousand eyes then shot out like arrows, striking the mass of monks and nuns. They were instantly blasted backward, spitting blood. Some monks and nuns with weaker cultivation and less resilient bodies had holes the size of washbasins blasted through their chests, spraying blood and gore everywhere.
Fanya and Vimocitrola had only attacked together, and perhaps only Vimocitrola had truly attacked, yet they had routed the thousands of eminent Buddhist monks and venerable masters of the Great Snow Mountain. Among the defeated were two peak Daluo Golden Immortals, twenty-four Upper-grade Daluo Golden Immortals, one hundred and eight Mid-grade Daluo Golden Immortals, three hundred and seventy-five Lower-grade Daluo Golden Immortals, and the rest were experts at the peak of Taiyi Golden Immortal realm. Meanwhile, Fanya and Vimocitrola’s cultivation was at best only equal to that of Huangye and Xixin.
Vimocitrola roared with laughter, waving the captured Buddhist artifacts with his nine hundred and ninety arms, causing Buddhist light to flash wildly across the sky. He laughed excitedly, "Thank you, thank you! This King has been short of weapons recently; you have delivered so many! Hahaha!"
After roaring toward the heavens a few times, Vimocitrola put away all the artifacts and, with an excited swing of his arms, grabbed about three hundred of the younger and more beautiful nuns from among the defeated monks and nuns, carrying them back to the Three-Alliance City with zealous excitement.
Seeing Vimocitrola snatch away the most attractive batch of nuns, Fanya became enraged, screaming wildly. He looked at the three nuns held in his palm, his eyes darting around, before finally grumbling and carefully pinching the three nuns within his palm. He then haphazardly grabbed over eight hundred sturdy, strong young monks with robust physiques.
The two Demon Kings strode back triumphantly into the Three-Alliance City. Fanya immediately ordered his core Asura troops to set up a roaring fire, preparing fine wines and seasonings to roast the eight hundred sturdy young monks on the spot for their 'Flesh of Buddha Feast.'
Vimocitrola, however, had no appetite for meat or wine. He rushed back laughing into the Three-Alliance City, immediately heading to his palace, where he stripped the captured nuns naked and threw them onto the floor. A group of Asura generals close to Vimocitrola hurriedly rushed into the palace, laughing as they joined Vimocitrola in pouncing upon the terrified, pale-faced nuns.
Not long after, screams and moans of hundreds of nuns echoed from Vimocitrola's palace—the misery was so extreme it sent chills down one's spine. But to the ears of the Asuras, Rakshasas, and Yakshas, this sound was exhilarating. They laughed heartily and rushed home to find their own wives, embracing them joyously to engage in the vital task of propagating their race.
Throughout the Three-Alliance City, countless Heavenly Gods, Devils, and Immortals stomped and cheered, excited by the spectacular performance of the two Asura Demon Kings.
Then, a horn sounded from the golden city above. Golden light filled the sky, and countless celestial flowers drifted down. Indra, the Heavenly Emperor, who had almost been offered as a sacrifice by the Asuras, rode forth majestically upon a white elephant, surrounded by countless Heavenly soldiers and generals, charging out of the Three-Alliance City.
His Thunder God Pestle and accompanying weapons had all been seized by Gu Yechen. Now, Indra held only an ordinary divine weapon, a Lotus Pestle, from the Heavenly God treasury—its quality barely that of a standard Supreme Immortal Artifact.
Clutching this Lotus Pestle, which was quite mismatched to his status, Indra held his head high, like a proud little rooster, leading countless Heavenly soldiers and generals straight into the Great Snow Mountain. He charged toward a large monastery ahead that had not yet been destroyed by the bombardment from the Three-Alliance City’s crossbows. Above the entrance of this monastery was a plaque inscribed with three large characters: 'Lichen An' (Dust-Shedding Nunnery).
Having mingled in Buddhist circles for so many years, Indra naturally knew that the Lichen An was a secluded sanctuary for Buddhist nuns. Thus, he frantically led his troops forward. The immense gains made earlier by Vimocitrola had made Indra extremely envious. He only hoped to seize a few Buddhist nuns so he could vent the resentment accumulated over countless years of being controlled by Buddhism.
Furthermore, even setting aside the grievance of being forcibly made a Protector by the Brahmins, given Indra's notorious lustfulness throughout the Three Realms, seeing so many deeply cultivated and beautifully featured nuns would compel him to seize them. It was better that these nuns fell to Indra than to anyone else.
Therefore, Indra led countless Heavenly soldiers and generals to surround the Lichen Nunnery, trapping it completely. Laughing loudly, Indra charged into the nunnery alone. He presumed that what Fanya and Vimocitrola could achieve, he should certainly be able to achieve as well. At most, there were a few thousand nuns in this nunnery; with just a casual wave of his Lotus Pestle, he could take these nuns back to enjoy himself thoroughly.
Once he forcibly stripped these nuns of their pure Buddhist inner power using his Brahmin demonic techniques, Indra, who also cultivated Buddhist divine abilities, would certainly see a massive increase in his own strength!
However, the moment he entered the nunnery, Indra cried out in distress. To be continued. If you wish to know what happens next, please log in for more chapters, support the author, and support legitimate reading! B
