Stepping out of the apartment building, the biting wind felt somewhat refreshing. Ziye pulled her scarf tighter around her neck and settled her hat on before heading to the landing platform of Airship Bay 5.
She lived in Unit 9, so the trip to Unit 5 took barely two minutes.
When she arrived, Shaxinnie was already waiting. She lived in Unit 5, which was incredibly convenient.
Seeing Ziye bundled up like a rice dumpling, Shaxinnie teased, "Fifteen degrees is enough to freeze you like this?"
Ziye felt a chill despite the strange cold sweat prickling her skin. Unwilling to remove her scarf, she frowned at Shaxinnie, her nose slightly wrinkled. "Decoration. Just for show."
Shaxinnie scrutinized Ziye from head to toe, nodding appreciatively. "That outfit is great; very moe. Boys will love it. Hey, are those red contact lenses?"
Ziye looked bewildered. "No, why?"
Her eyes were a bit red, carrying a slight haze, making her look like an innocently vacant little rabbit. Shaxinnie inwardly gave a thumbs-up. Natural effects are always better.
Ziye felt like they were speaking different languages. Not wanting to dwell on the topic, she asked, "Where are the others?"
Shaxinnie waved a dismissive hand. "No need to ask. Aina is definitely still doing her makeup. And April? Probably trying on clothes?"
Shaxinnie had incredibly high standards for makeup, but her skill was masterful; she could achieve any desired style in mere minutes. Aina lacked Shaxinnie’s technical finesse but demanded the same results, meaning she religiously spent at least half an hour on her face before every class.
As for April, she constantly felt like a tragic footnote. Among ordinary girls, she was quite attractive and never feared comparison. But with Shaxinnie and Aina being near-goddess tier, April risked being utterly eclipsed if she wasn't careful. Thus, she relied on dressing spectacularly to assert her presence.
It proved the principle: having one stunning beauty among friends automatically elevates the perceived standard of the whole group.
Lingyin was the most balanced; she paid attention to everything but focused intensely on nothing, spending minimal time on any single aspect. Ziye, on the other hand, ignored it all entirely, doing whatever needed doing, which invariably meant she was the first to arrive at every gathering.
Ziye couldn't fathom why a simple class required such ceremony. Since her mind felt sluggish today anyway, she decided to stop thinking about it, leaning back against the airship seat to rest her eyes.
About five minutes later, everyone gradually arrived, and they headed together toward the classroom at Kaga Station 1.
Ziye recalled Lingyin's mother was a doctor and quite knowledgeable about medicine. Just as she was about to ask Lingyin to take a look at what was wrong with her, Lingyin answered a long-range comm-call.
"My club application was rejected. The club office wants me to come down immediately. You all go ahead to class."
After speaking, Lingyin broke away from the airship group, turning sharply and rushing back toward Lings.
Ziye sighed softly, raising her hand to examine the spot on her palm where Douzai had licked her. The area, now treated with ointment, looked pale and the surrounding skin was dehydrated and flaking slightly.
When a person is down on their luck, even a lick can cause trouble.
Ziye traced the peeling skin with her fingertip, mentally calculating what kind of medicinal liquid she should prepare upon returning. Just then, the airship team broadcast sounded: "Landing in one minute."
Ziye decisively discarded her previous thoughts. Nothing else mattered; class was the priority.
The majority of instructors at the Kaga Education Center were female, and strikingly beautiful ones at that. Professor Ade, who taught psychology, was not only beautiful but had also been voted the 'Most Approachable Teacher' by students for three consecutive years.
Her lectures were always packed, though 90% of the audience consisted of male students, 70% of whom hailed from the all-male Dongdian Military University.
It was easy to imagine the scene when the four girls walked in single file: a dense, dark mass of male faces greeted them.
The Dongdian men were generally tall, physically robust, and radiated strong pheromones. The spacious, brightly lit classroom felt somewhat cramped because of their numbers.
"Wow, beautiful women!" "Which school's campus belles are these?" "Come on, sit with me!"
Whistles and playful shouts erupted, making the atmosphere unusually lively.
Did we enter the wrong room?
The four of them thought in unison. Before they could turn back, the male students rose to their feet.
The sheer intensity of their collective movement startled April, causing her delicate features to momentarily pale.
Just as they were about to flee for the door, Excebente’s voice rang out: "Over here!"
The four turned in unison. Seeing Excebente waving at them from a seat near the wall in the third row, their hearts immediately settled. Shaxinnie maintained her elegant, poised, goddess-like smile and headed toward the third row.
Aina, in the second position, was no less composed. She adopted her air of noble, cool detachment, walking straight ahead without glancing sideways.
April had been a bit frightened, but seeing the two ahead of her, her courage bolstered. Unexpectedly, she quite enjoyed the spotlight of the entire class of boys, smiling sweetly like a girl-next-door.
Ziye had initially kept her head down. However, when Excebente called out, she looked up, and the water-misted depths of her eyes flashed with a startling clarity.
When looking down, she resembled an adorable, vacant little bunny. Now, she exuded a feline allure, her face flushed red. A boy sitting in the front row nearly lunged forward.
One, two, three, four—each possessed a distinct style, yet all were captivating in their own right!
The male students had come hoping to see a beautiful teacher, but stumbling upon four beautiful classmates was an unexpected bonus. As they began plotting how to flirt, the four sat down one by one, next to Excebente.
Their seating order was the exact reverse of their entry order.
Exce was against the wall, with Bente seated next to him.
Ziye sat beside Bente, followed by April, Aina, and finally Shaxinnie.
There were seven seats in the row; since Lingyin was absent, there was one empty seat next to Shaxinnie.
The entire class of boys eyed Excebente with envy, jealousy, and hatred, yet not a single one dared to sit beside Shaxinnie.
As for Excebente, they were the school's ace pilots and twins, blessed with good looks, excellent temperament, and handsomeness—a focal point wherever they went. Used to envious gazes, he no longer paid attention. After greeting the three girls, he began playfully teasing Ziye.
Ziye’s head felt heavy as stone. Once seated, she tucked both hands under her head and slumped onto the desk.
Bente found this highly peculiar. "Little Yezi, what's wrong? You're usually so lively. Since when did you get this quiet?" She hadn't even removed her hat or scarf. A quick look revealed her entire face was flushed crimson, like a tomato.
"Little Yezi, are you feeling shy?"
Hearing this, April turned her head slightly and offered a faint smile. "Ziye’s constitution is tougher than any tough guy’s. How could she be shy? Right, Ziye?"
Ziye muttered without lifting her head, "A little unwell."
Excebente startled. "What's wrong? If you don't feel well, why didn't you take sick leave and rest properly?"
Ziye waved her hand dismissively. "Women's issues. I’ll be fine in a bit. Just wake me up when the teacher gets here."
Excebente was about to say more when April pulled Ziye close and whispered, "Ziye, the school allows three days off for your monthly cycle. You don't need to push yourself this hard."
Ziye recalled the three courses she nearly failed last semester—all due to excessive absences—and her mediocre exam scores. The instructors had been merciful enough to pass her. This semester, if she didn't try hard, a subject like Psychology, which she barely understood, would surely result in failure. At least for the first lesson today, she should try to make a good first impression on the teacher.
April sighed. "I'm telling you, grades are ephemeral; only your body matters. Don't put the cart before the horse. Look, why don't you go back and sleep? I’ll brew you some soup after class?"
Bente grew anxious. Seeing them whispering, he directly pulled Ziye up from the desk. "Have you seen a doctor?"
Ziye shook her head vehemently. "I don't like hospitals! I absolutely won't go to the hospital!"
Just like Nineteenth Sister!
Bente’s heart softened completely. He and Exce pulled her upright. "No, you must go." He turned to the three girls. "You three go to class; we'll take her to the infirmary."
Ziye couldn't struggle free and allowed herself to be dragged toward the door.
Just as they reached the threshold, Teacher Ade walked in.
She wasn't the most beautiful, but she was the gentlest. She possessed an innate maternal softness, and her eyes held a calming influence. The students respected her deeply, and the chatter died down.
Only Excebente reacted as if he'd seen a ghost, steeling himself. "Teacher, Student Ziye is sick; we are taking her to the school hospital."
Teacher Ade smiled softly. "If one is sick, one certainly should go..." Her words hung in the air. Excebente immediately started moving out, but as soon as he stepped forward, Ade countered with a stride of her own, casually blocking their path.
Excebente sighed inwardly. Darn, didn't escape her again!
Others might not know Ade’s background, but Excebente knew well: she was trained. Every step she took had intent, and blocking their path so precisely was no accident. What a damned bizarre teacher!
Ade ignored their displeased looks and reached out to touch Ziye’s forehead, frowning. "She has quite a fever. If we waited longer, she might have burned into an idiot."
Excebente instantly declared, "We're taking her to the hospital now!" The unspoken message was: Teacher, shouldn't you move aside?
Teacher Ade’s smile was like the gentle rain of spring. "Only one person is needed to take her to the hospital. Class is starting soon; those who need to attend should be in class."
The twins exchanged a look, indecision flickering in their eyes. They both wanted to skip her class, and she knew it. But could her class ever be skipped so easily?
Ade specialized in psychology. Her favorite pastime was watching well-coordinated pairs falter over a single issue, preferably playing out a psychological gamble where she held the final trump card. What a delightful prospect! If she secured one twin, she didn't worry about the other.
Observing their conflicted state, Ade looked serene, like a Bodhisattva. The students interpreted her expression as concern for Ziye, and their opinion of her soared even higher.
The twins glared at her: A demon disguised in Bodhisattva's radiance!
They already had a quick method for resolving disagreements. Seeing that the situation was irreversible, they extended their hands for Rock, Paper, Scissors.
With one swift declaration to decide the outcome, Exce won.
Exce dared not look at his brother's wounded expression and left with Ziye.
Ade returned to the podium, feeling immensely pleased. Splitting the twins apart was such a joy! Did Exce think he escaped a class session? Heh. After class, I’ll send him a Teacher Notice summoning him for individual tutoring!
