He Shaoqing scratched his scalp, utterly bewildered as to why Kuang Feifan was contemplating any of this.
Kuang Feifan couldn't articulate it either. He felt profoundly strange; having accepted the supernatural—something he never believed before—he felt he was starting to act eccentrically, viewing everything first through the lens of encountering ghosts. Memories of stories his ex-girlfriend used to tell began surfacing from the depths of his mind.
Kuang Feifan murmured, as if to himself or perhaps to He Shaoqing, "I'm starting to think... this might be where those two ghosts live."
He Shaoqing's eyes widened in surprise. Unlike Kuang Feifan, he hadn't had a girlfriend constantly regaling him with spooky tales. He couldn't help but ask in disbelief, "What? Ghosts have residences?"
Kuang Feifan didn't know how to explain, so he simply raised his hand and began tapping the walls around them. Finally, while crouched down and tapping the section near the roofline, he heard a hollow sound.
He Shaoqing immediately noticed the difference in the tapping sound. He hurried over, squatting down alongside Kuang Feifan, and they began closely inspecting what made this particular wall unique.
After examining the wall again, they confirmed only this section was hollow. By sound, the outer layer didn't seem too thick. They exchanged a look and simultaneously declared, "Smash it."
They half-crouched, backsides sticking up, hands braced against the low ceiling, and began kicking the wall with force—though this position made it impossible to generate much power.
After just a couple of kicks that only chipped some plaster, a loud crash echoed from the outer room. The ajar door was thrust open by some unseen force. Before either of them could turn to look, the frequently confronted Red-Clad Female Ghost and the Big-Headed Monster Infant flashed into existence not far from them. Then, a chilling, sinister snort sounded from behind the female ghost.
The Big-Headed Monster Infant tilted its head and slowly reached behind the Red-Clad Female Ghost to pull out a small girl about its own height. In the moonlight filtering through the skylight, Kuang Feifan realized this so-called little girl was likely a doll. She was only the size of an infant, yet she possessed the face of an adult woman, her expression utterly vacant and stiff.
The Big-Headed Monster Infant held the doll, its gaze fixed on its face, its mouth stretched into what seemed like a simple, idiotic grin. The doll, however, appeared to be the most normal of the three. Its fair skin held a faint rosy hue, indistinguishable from a real person. Its large eyes were wide open, staring unblinkingly at Kuang Feifan and He Shaoqing. Under the moonlight, their pupils shimmered with an eerie, multi-colored light. Its mouth curved slightly upwards in a smile, but it was a cold, artificial grin. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, and she wore a white, lace-trimmed dress that accentuated her slender, well-proportioned figure.
He Shaoqing paid little attention to the added doll, his focus entirely on the tense, guarded stance he adopted toward the female ghost and the monster infant. Kuang Feifan felt differently. Looking at the doll's strange eyes and icy
