Landing softly on a gentle slope carpeted with lush green grass. The impact of the swift landing jolted Gu Wuchen and his two companions out of the overwhelming tide of memories that had been surging through them. Dukat’s face hardened once more, while Kan Hua grinned mischievously and pulled out a cigar. Gu Xechen, however, remained composed, calmly spreading his divine sense across the surroundings.
Having achieved the Innate Body and cultivated the Taiyin True Scripture, Gu Wuchen’s spiritual fluctuations had successfully transformed into the divine sense unique to Dao practitioners. However, due to his Innate Body, Gu Xechen’s divine sense meshed with the natural environment to an extremely high degree, reaching a state of unity between heaven and man, becoming utterly seamless. His divine thought spread out densely, stirring not the slightest ripple. It was like a drop of water merging into the ocean, like a gust of wind sweeping across the vast sky, or like a wisp of cloud drifting in the air—so utterly natural.
This was no longer the mere divine sense of an ordinary cultivator; it was the Innate Divine Sense unique to the Innate Body. Even a grandmaster of the Void Return stage, such as the Corpse Emperor, would be incapable of detecting the trace of this Innate Divine Sense.
His powerful divine sense instantly covered an area spanning hundreds of kilometers. In the blink of an eye, Gu Xechen discovered a cluster of villages several kilometers ahead, and he also noticed something quite interesting. Letting out a few chuckles of 'Heh heh,' Gu Xechen grabbed Poluopolu and laughed, "A very interesting place, a fine planet. I... like it here!"
The hatch of the Old Ancestor class vessel opened, and Gu Xechen emerged carrying Poluopolu. Kan Hua, with his hands laced behind his head, emerged through a cloud of smoke, muttering vaguely, "Little fellow, if you leave your ship here, won't someone steal it? Uh, you have quite a bit of cargo inside, don't you!"
Poluopolu hopped down from Gu Xechen’s grasp. He miserably wiped at his damp trousers, shook his head, and mumbled, "It won't be stolen. Any citizen of the Yafik Kingdom is wealthier than I am; they wouldn't spare a glance for my rickety smuggling vessel! Alas~ The Yafik Kingdom is considered an advanced civilization in Star Dream, and what am I? Just a traveling merchant of a weak race!" After muttering a few sentences, Poluopolu nimbly zipped back into the ship, changed into a clean pair of trousers, and then dashed back out.
"Excellent!" Gu Wuchen stretched with vigor, pointing toward the cluster of villages nestled among green trees below the slope, and smiled, "Then, let's go!"
Dukat waved his hand, and amidst a flash of silver light, a saucer-shaped aircraft nearly three meters in diameter rapidly materialized. The group stepped onto the disc-shaped flyer and sped toward the 'interesting things' Gu Xechen had mentioned.
This was a region of villages with an extremely low population density. Everywhere stood beautiful, ornate buildings—three, four, or even five stories high—that on Earth would be described as castles. The minimum distance between these castles was five hundred meters, connected by winding paths.
Roughly a hundred or so castles formed one 'village,' separated by ten to twenty kilometers from the next village of a similar scale. Twenty such villages comprised the entire cluster Gu Xechen had observed with his divine sense. Between the villages were lush green trees, lakes, grassy meadows filled with flowers, or vast tracts of vigorously growing crops.
The air here was exceptionally fresh; save for a slightly lower concentration of spiritual energy, its crispness rivaled that of Paradise Star. The water quality was crystal clear, the trees were exceptionally tall and straight, and the livestock freely grazing on the large pastures between the settlements were robust and stout, even larger than the genetically engineered beasts raised in the industrial feedlots of Earth! "What a wonderful place, a truly wonderful place!" Gu Wuchen exclaimed deeply. "Poluopolu, is this the jurisdiction of the princess you mentioned?"
Poluopolu nodded vigorously, gazing greedily at the surrounding scenery, and mumbled unintelligibly, "Yes, it’s the domain of Princess Fuyah of the Underworld. But… war, alas!"
Dukat and Kan Hua tasted the silence, but it tasted wrong to them.
What was war? Gu Xechen, Dukat, and Kan Hua were all men who had crawled out of mountains of corpses on seas of blood. What was war? War was overwhelming fleets of warships, tidal waves of massive mechanized legions, tens of millions of passionate soldiers slaughtering each other with the most powerful weaponry. On the ground, there should be at least hundreds of thousands of massive craters, with thousands of tons of scattered limbs around the edges of those craters, and the smoke in the air should be dark enough to blacken the sky. All forests and grasslands should be crushed into mire—that was war! Yet here, it was so quiet and peaceful, it seemed like the Elysium described in Earth Federation legends. Were they truly engaged in conflict here? Muttering vaguely, Gu Xechen shook his head helplessly. "Its diameter is three times that of Earth, the standard gravity is about 1.5 times Earth's, and other ecological indicators are similar. Hmm, the population is only just over one hundred million, and the total military personnel is only a little over three hundred thousand? A nation like this…"
Dukat remained silent, simply staring in astonishment at the peaceful vista unfolding before the village. Kan Hua’s scarlet tongue licked his lips, and he muttered under his breath, "I really want to take this place over! Over a hundred million people? Three hundred thousand troops? Ah, Junior Brother, if we summon a fleet from Earth, bring a few hundred thousand brothers over—the value of this planet is no less than Paradise Star!"
A sudden heat surged through him. Gu Xechen licked his lips and murmured softly, "Let's wait and see. We’ll talk later. Hmm, there’s something interesting coming up ahead!"
The disc-shaped flyer halted at the edge of the nearest village. Dukat retracted the craft, and the group followed a small path toward the settlement. This village occupied a vast area, composed of over a hundred and thirty exquisitely designed castles, scattered either on the slopes on both sides or situated near the lake and the woods. However, every ancient gate faced a small path leading to a small cluster of buildings in the village center, where a small plaza stood with a small platform in the middle.
At this moment, a woman in a tight-fitting, silver-and-purple uniform stood on the platform, passionately exhorting the crowd. Scattered about were over three hundred elderly men and women, dressed in loose robes and wearing gentle smiles, sitting comfortably on neat, long wooden benches in the plaza, basking in the sun while listening to the woman's speech. However, nearly half of the elderly people had already slumped over, their heads tilted, soundly asleep—the sunlight was just too warm, the elderly loved to doze off in such weather.
Gu Xechen even noticed several old women cradling pets resembling black cats from Earth; both mistress and pet were squinting, purring contentedly in the sunlight.
