The assault ship landed directly outside the main entrance of the Tenth Army Hospital of the Earth Federation Military in the suburbs of Copenhagen, descending straight from the outer atmosphere.
This was a military hospital directly subordinate to the Federation Military Headquarters, usually garrisoned by a company of troops akin to the specialized forces. The guards at the entrance rushed forward when they saw the unmarked assault ship descend abruptly. The guards inside the sentry post immediately placed their hands on the early warning buttons.
Gu Xiechen stormed out of the assault ship, his face grim. A few guards blocked his path, but Banruo and Mohe pushed them aside like two imposing door gods, one on each flank. The guard inside the final post was about to sound the alarm when Penghua lunged into the reinforced post and clamped a hand around the guard's neck.
The group bulldozed their way through the hospital's inpatient building, heading straight for the observation rooms used for critically ill patients. In one of these observation rooms, Gu Xiechen found the bearded regiment commander.
Belial Adams lay suspended in a medical pod, surrounded by dozens of medical machines. Numerous light screens continuously displayed his vital signs: body temperature, pulse, respiration, and other physiological metrics. All indicators were a faint green, signaling that Belial Adams’ body was entirely normal, without the slightest issue.
Several doctors, dressed in white coats and dripping with cold sweat, stood frozen in a corner of the observation room. Their horrified gazes kept flicking toward the mutilated body of Belial Adams inside the medical pod.
Gu Xiechen burst into the observation room and slammed against the transparent medical pod. Belial Adams' horrific state caused his heart to plummet violently.
Belial Adams, submerged naked in a pale green liquid, was slowly melting. This was a bizarre description, yet he was indeed liquefying with extreme slowness. Starting from his fingers and toes, his flesh was gradually dissolving into a sticky, crimson fluid. This blood mixed with the light-green culture medium, turning into a repulsive, murky color.
Aside from the dissolving toes and fingers, Belial Adams’ entire skin surface was constantly erupting with tiny, sesame-seed-sized blood blisters. With sharp popping sounds, one by one, these blisters burst, spraying thin streams of inky black plasma. Though the blisters were small, the sound of their explosion was deafening, as if detonating directly inside a listener’s ear. Belial Adams, once tall, handsome, blond, and blue-eyed with the bearing of a nobleman, now resembled a rotting corpse!
Gu Xiechen’s heart convulsed.
Belial Adams, the capable right-hand man assigned to Gu Xiechen by his father, had always been fiercely loyal. The intelligence department of the Gu Group was almost entirely managed by him. When Gu Juechen forced Gu Xiechen out and initiated the massive purge of the Gu Group, Belial Adams was marginalized and benched. Upon Gu Xiechen’s return to Earth, a mere summons was enough for Belial Adams to bring his family and a few subordinates to follow him to Copenhagen.
It had been less than a month. How could Belial Adams, who should have been setting up the intelligence apparatus for the Hadar Corporation, end up like this?
Taking a deep breath, Gu Xiechen furiously rubbed his palm against the medical pod a few times. He turned back and demanded fiercely, "What happened to make him look like this?"
The bearded regiment commander’s dark face looked like it could drip ink. He growled sinisterly, "Today was Adams’ twentieth wedding anniversary. I booked him a candlelight dinner at the best restaurant. He was ambushed while driving to pick up his wife and son. The brothers protecting him were killed instantly. His wife and son were kidnapped. He was the only one left at the scene!"
"Ugh..."
A raspy, strained voice suddenly emerged from the intercom on the medical pod. Belial Adams struggled to open his mouth. A large amount of clotted blood sprayed out, dyeing the culture medium near his head a purplish-black. The medical pod's circulation system immediately engaged, injecting fresh culture medium while the contaminated fluid was rapidly drained within two seconds. A mask equipped with a miniature microphone descended from the top of the pod, covering Belial Adams' mouth, sealing out the liquid that hindered his speech.
"Hiss..." Belial Adams painfully forced his eyes open. His originally azure irises had turned into two rapidly decaying spheres of flesh, with large amounts of bloody fluid seeping constantly from the corners of his eyes.
Though he could not see, Belial Adams seemed to sense Gu Xiechen’s presence. He painstakingly asked word by word, "Boss? You... are here?"
"I am here!" Gu Xiechen leaned close to the intercom and stated grimly, "Rest and heal. I will bring back Dangla and Xiaobobi. If anything happens to them, no matter who did it, no matter who orchestrated it, I will slaughter them all. Bell, this is my promise to you: no matter who did it, no matter who orchestrated it, I will slaughter them all!"
"Chhh... chhh..." Belial Adams forced a pleased smile, his voice hoarse, "I am at ease, Boss."
"Good!" Gu Xiechen patted the medical pod forcefully, a fierce, savage killing intent unconsciously surfacing on his face. "Rest and heal. I will handle the rest!"
Belial Adams mustered all his remaining strength to nod, closed his eyes, and fainted again.
Turning around, Gu Xiechen fixed his gaze on the bearded regiment commander. "Uncle Hu, request the Copenhagen police and garrison in the name of the company..."
The bearded regiment commander interrupted him with a muffled voice, "I’ve already handled it. The whole city is locked down by military police. Damn it, the commander of the ten armored divisions outside the city was trying to use rank to suppress me. I called his direct superior and had him chew the bastard out. That guy became as obedient as a scrub brush and mobilized everyone to seal off all entry and exit routes!"
"Mm!" Gu Xiechen offered no thanks.
The bearded regiment commander didn't waste any more words, turning his attention to the doctors in the observation room.
Gu Xiechen’s gaze, cold enough to freeze a person to death, swept toward the dozens of doctors. He had just activated his power, and his control over psychic energy was still somewhat clumsy. Moreover, his agitated mood right then made him intensely furious. A thread of psychic energy unintentionally lashed out toward the doctors. A cloud of pale, misty cold air burst forth around the doctors, the sudden drop in temperature making them shiver violently; two weaker ones nearly fainted.
"What exactly happened to Belial Adams' injury?" Gu Xiechen asked chillingly.
"Everything is normal!" A slightly older doctor stammered in reply, "According to the instruments, his... his... his body is completely normal."
"Completely normal?" A hint of sinister blue light flashed in Gu Xiechen's eyes. He blurred into an afterimage, darting in front of the doctor, seizing him by the throat and dragging him toward the medical pod. Furiously pointing at the slowly decaying and melting Belial Adams, Gu Xiechen drew a triangular bayonet from his belt and pressed the tip against the doctor's temple.
"You call this completely normal? Hmm?" His wrist tightened slightly, and the bayonet pierced the skin of the doctor's temple, releasing a thin wisp of blood that escaped with a faint warmth. Due to the cold front Gu Xiechen had unleashed, the temperature in the observation room had dropped below freezing; this small stream of blood puffed white mist, sliding two or three inches down the doctor's cheek before freezing solid onto his face.
Rolling his eyes back, the doctor clutched in Gu Xiechen's grip was scared into unconsciousness.
The enraged Gu Xiechen was filled with murderous intent. The scent of blood from the many people he had slain on Paradise Star had not yet dissipated. Now, as killing intent flared, a faint, misty blood-colored aura began to emanate from his body. This doctor had never encountered such a God of Slaughter climbing out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood; it was a miracle he hadn't been scared to death!
Fine crimson threads slowly veiled the whites of Gu Xiechen’s eyes, and gradually, his pupils were covered in a thick, bloody glow. The triangular bayonet slowly scraped across the screens of the surrounding medical equipment. Gu Xiechen sneered, "Because of this data, my subordinate’s body is completely normal? Have you ever seen a 'completely normal' state that involves this kind of slow putrefaction?"
No one dared to speak; all the doctors lowered their heads.
Penghua walked into the observation room with a light step. He chuckled lightly, "Those little grunts—oh my, they even wanted to call the police? Hehe. One hundred and ten... all of them were knocked out by me and thrown into the morgue!"
Suddenly seeing Gu Xiechen’s man-eating expression, Penghua was startled. Even while fighting desperately on Paradise Star, Penghua had never seen Gu Xiechen this enraged.
"Junior brother? What's wrong? Did someone steal your woman?"
Penghua's sudden appearance slightly eased the nearly solidified air in the observation room. Gu Xiechen tapped the medical pod lightly and said coldly, "My man!"
Penghua instinctively looked toward the medical pod. His eyebrows shot up, and he exclaimed in surprise,
"I sense... the Three Witches Blood Curse? Has an Elder-level figure from the Three Witches Sect made a move?"
"Three Witches Blood Curse?" Gu Xiechen paused, then in an instant, his pupils turned entirely red.
"Someone from the Three Witches Sect?"
Penghua quickly approached the medical pod. He stared intently at Belial Adams for a moment, then urgently nodded, "The Three Witches Blood Curse of the Three Witches Sect. Absolutely this malicious curse! Look at the rate his limbs are dissolving, just like a high-grade sugar cube melting in coffee—slowly, but with an extremely constant rate of dissolution. The blood blisters on his body are dense and perfectly uniform in size. The sound of the blisters bursting faintly seems to shake the observer's soul. The control over this curse is masterful... Absolutely the work of an Elder-level expert from the Three Witches Sect."
Gu Xiechen took a deep breath and threw the doctor he had seized—who had fainted again—onto the floor.
With a flip of his hand, several small, fingernail-sized diamonds and rubies appeared. Gu Xiechen tossed them onto the doctor’s body. "My apologies, I was discourteous. This curse is not something you could have detected. My subordinate still requires your careful attention! This is a small token of my appreciation!" He bowed deeply to the several doctors who were staring dumbfounded, then violently thrust the triangular bayonet toward the wall behind him.
With a crack, the bayonet sank deep into the wall. A woman's frightened scream suddenly came from the adjacent room. The bearded regiment commander gave a meaningful look, and the dozens of Hadar Corporation cadres present quickly filed out of the observation room to calm the startled people next door.
"Penghua, how long will it take you to find the people from the Three Witches Sect?" The blood-red light in Gu Xiechen's eyes intensified.
Penghua, chilled by Gu Xiechen’s murderous gaze, shivered violently, letting out an awkward, dry laugh.
Just as he was about to say something, Gu Xiechen’s communicator suddenly blared loudly with a ga-ong sound.
