A faint purple light tore through the fierce wind and rain curtain, bursting forth from the dense forest. The purple beam sliced directly through dozens of defensive lines and shot straight toward the command center of the Pangu Base.
The light vanished, and Yulys, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth, stumbled out of the residual energy. Yulys’s head was now completely bare; her vibrant green hair, once cascading like the Milky Way, had been burned away entirely. Several gruesome, blistered patches marked her scalp. Her tight leather suit was shredded, exposing large swathes of pale violet skin. Through the rips in her clothing, one could see burn blisters and countless scars of varying darkness mottling her flesh.
Gasping raggedly, she staggered a few times. Despite her weakness, Yulys managed to sound imperious as she pointed toward the sentries at the command post entrance and shouted, “Hey, you little soldiers! Go tell that bastard Vagri right now that I need a thousand fighters! I’m going to slaughter…” Gu Xichen was not far from the command center. As the winded Yulys glanced sideways, her eye caught sight of Gu Xichen. She visibly recoiled in shock, turning to stare fixedly at him for a full ten seconds before suddenly spitting out a mouthful of blood. Disbelieving, she pointed a trembling finger at him and shrieked, “How are you here?” Gu Xichen’s lips curled upward into a sinister, sly smile. “Why shouldn’t I be here? Uh, why have you only just returned?” Yulys’s mind went blank. Her ears rang, and her vision swam with golden sparks. While her power was immense, her body had suffered grievous harm from the massive stone dropped by Xin Jia from outer space and the bombardment of the Boundary Puppets Siren had created by exhausting all her strength. The situation was compounded because she had only narrowly escaped the combined assault by activating her life potential, leaving her injuries even worse.
Gu Xichen had used the immense energy contained within his Primordial Dao Fetus to restore his body and was already challenging Vagri within a few hours. However, Yulys had spent three agonizing days and nights in the dense forest just to stabilize her wounds. By the time Yulys struggled back to the base, Gu Xichen, with Peng Hua’s assistance, had already subdued General Vagri and arranged for the mercenaries of the Hell Angel Mercenary Group to be shipped back to Earth for recovery.
The stunned Yulys coughed up several more mouthfuls of blood.
Peng Hua then launched a punch toward Yulys, roaring in anger, “Bitch, did you collapse the underground palace? Damn it, you nearly killed so many of my comrades!” The heavily wounded Yulys couldn't dodge in time. Peng Hua’s heavy punch landed squarely on her lower abdomen. With a terrifying explosion of displaced air, the blow sent Yulys flying dozens of meters. An all-terrain assault vehicle happened to be driving past the landing pad, and Yulys crashed heavily into it, causing the vehicle to tumble end over end several times across the ground.
With a sickening crack, Yulys’s bones shattered in countless places. Blood poured from all seven of her orifices. The lunatic Yulys struggled to pull herself upright and roared, “You dare hurt me? You, you, you lowlife scum, you dare lay a hand on me?” Blood-red light flashed in Peng Hua’s eyes. He instantly flashed to Yulys’s side and delivered another crushing kick to her chest. Amidst a grating snap, Yulys’s ribs broke in unison. Peng Hua laughed shrilly, “I dare not hurt you? So what if I do?” A fierce light, even more crazed than Yulys’s own, flared in Peng Hua’s eyes. The inherent, malevolent aura of the zombie was fully unleashed by Yulys’s provocation. Peng Hua seized Yulys by the neck, intending to drain her essence dry.
Gu Xichen stood with his arms crossed, his voice cool. “Don’t kill her. Force her to hand over the antidote for the Three-Tailed Scorpion. Without the antidote, Siren is going to go berserk! You don’t want to see countless scantily clad beauties running around carrying bombs, turning the Asian Dao Alliance base into rubble, do you?” The fierce light in Peng Hua’s eyes dimmed slightly. He turned to Gu Xichen with a cold snort. “Wrong! I love seeing countless scantily clad beauties running around with bombs! Hmm, especially the ones with big chests that bounce when they run!” Shaking Yulys’s body vigorously, Peng Hua nodded with mock seriousness. “Siren, that guy... I have a feud with him! But given that we share the same aesthetic tastes, I’ll help him out this once!” He delivered thirty or more vicious slaps across Yulys’s face in rapid succession, then asked with a wicked grin, “Woman, hand over that scorpion antidote, or else... do you mind a dozen newly awakened, still stinking zombies taking a turn with you?” Gu Xichen’s skin prickled with gooseflesh; Peng Hua’s threat was viciously cruel. Looking at Yulys’s ghastly, sickly green complexion, one could gauge the severity of Peng Hua’s menace.
Vagri sauntered over to Gu Xichen, holding an umbrella casually. He looked at the continuously vomiting Yulys with schadenfreude and chuckled, “If I were you, I wouldn’t touch a single hair on Yulys’s head. Killing those freaks she brought is one thing, but injuring her—that’s an entirely different level of trouble.” “Oh? Is she that powerful?” Gu Xichen asked, surprised.
Vagri looked at Gu Xichen gleefully, his body trembling slightly as he smiled. “Her uncle is the Speaker of the Federal Senate; her father is the actual controller of the Federal Green Consortium; her mentor is the longest-serving academician of the Federal Academy of Sciences; and she has a fiancé who is the youngest Lieutenant General with real power in the Federal Military.” Patting Gu Xichen roughly on the shoulder, Vagri chuckled, “Congratulations, it seems you’ve stirred up quite the drama. But me? I have no old grievances with this madwoman; she won’t bother me. So, good luck to you!” Gu Xichen frowned, staring at Yulys. A deep, chilling killing intent flashed across his face.
Yulys let out a piercing scream. “I swear, that fellow named Gu Xichen, and you, you damned monster—I will never let you two go!” “I swear, I will put you both on an operating table and turn you into my most beloved little babies!” Hehehehe, you just wait, you can’t escape this! The frantic vows howled down with the torrential rain, like a cold wind blowing from hell.
Gu Xichen involuntarily shivered slightly. Having just managed Vagri, it seemed even bigger trouble was knocking at the door. As Vagri said, this woman was untouchable! But since he had touched her, perhaps an accidental death could be arranged? Gu Xichen let out a quiet sigh.
“I... I’m actually just a businessman!” Yulys, Yulys... Siren’s certain organ was about to change color...
