Only after Boss Zhou left did Xiao Bin finally react, waving his hands dismissively. Student Union President. There was no denying that Xiao Bin had been truly tempted just now. What young man hadn't dreamt? Ever since joining the Student Union, he had dreamed of one day sitting in that central seat himself. As for the benefits of becoming the Student Union President, those were beyond question. However, he knew his own limits; no matter how he looked at it, that position was never meant for him.

"Whether it's a joke or not, you'll know in the future. Never mind that for now—it's time to eat! I haven't had Sister Zhou's chicken feet in ages; I've been craving them!" Zhang Yang let out a loud laugh and was the first to reach out with his chopsticks, snatching up a chicken foot. Hu Xin, watching Zhang Yang's move, paused slightly. Usually, he was the first one to dive for the chicken feet; he hadn't expected Zhang Yang to beat him to the punch today. But he wasn't slow; in no time, his plate and mouth were stuffed full. The entire table forgot the previous conversation and plunged into a desperate scramble for the delicacies. Zhang Yang knew Xiao Bin’s nature; saying anything more to him now would be useless. It was better to just eat some good food first. The food at Sister Zhou's Noodle Shop was genuinely excellent. The last time they were here, they missed out because Sister Zhou was in labor; this time, they finally made up for it thoroughly.

Full from food and drink, the group slowly began to walk out. Everyone was present today except for Nannan, who had an appointment. "Zhang Yang, hurry up and let me see it!" As soon as they stepped out of Fallen Street, Hu Xin shouted loudly and lunged toward Zhang Yang. He had only just learned that Mi Xue had given Zhang Yang a pager today. For poor students like them, owning a pager was a dream for many.

"Don't be so impatient; I'll show you!" Zhang Yang sidestepped, evading Hu Xin. Xiao Bin and Gu Cheng crowded around as well. Xiao Bin had only just learned about Zhang Yang getting the new pager; their earlier conversation had mostly been about Zhang Yang going to the hospital and securing sponsorships. The brand-new pager quickly found its way into Hu Xin’s hands. Hu Xin kept looking at it, complaining mournfully about why no beautiful girl had ever gifted him such a fine thing. If one had, he’d gladly pledge himself to her. Poor Hu Xin, his words were overheard by Xiao Dai, and her ears immediately suffered the consequences. The two of them started another full-blown brawl right there.

The pager then went to Xiao Bin. He and Gu Cheng huddled together, constantly studying the functions of the various buttons. Zhang Yang stood to the side, smiling as he watched Mi Xue not far away. Xiao Dai and Hu Xin were still running around wildly. They had always been this manic; the others were long accustomed to it.

"Buzz!" Xiao Dai, who was running, suddenly stopped dead in her tracks, shielding her eyes with her hand. A blinding flash of light suddenly shot toward her from the opposite direction, leaving her unable to see anything. This sudden change left her completely disoriented, standing there foolishly.

Zhang Yang's expression changed drastically. From his angle, he saw a motorcycle speeding down the street. Xiao Dai had been blinded by the bike's strong headlights, which left her helpless. His body moved instantly. Unfortunately, he was too far from Xiao Dai, and even at top speed, he wouldn't reach her in time to pull her away.

"Watch out!" Hu Xin noticed it too, letting out a heart-wrenching shout. His body was still moving rapidly as he dove toward Xiao Dai, completely disregarding the oncoming motorcycle.

"Screech!" The speeding motorcycle spotted the situation ahead, and the rider slammed on the brakes. However, due to inertia, the bike continued to careen forward rapidly.

"Thud!" Hu Xin slammed into Xiao Dai, shoving her aside, while his own body was grazed by the motorcycle and he fell unnaturally to the ground. After clipping Hu Xin, the motorcycle didn't stop but instead fell over and shot off in another direction.

Just as he walked over to check on Hu Xin’s condition, Zhang Yang’s face changed again. His body suddenly propelled toward the direction the motorcycle was heading. The bike, which had changed course, was now barreling straight toward Mi Xue.

The motorcycle's rider was no longer on the bike. He had already jumped off when he knocked Hu Xin down and was now standing nearby, shaking his helmet. This meant it was an uncontrolled motorcycle.

"Ah!" The stunned Mi Xue hadn't expected such a sudden disaster. She couldn't help but cry out, but she had no time to react; her eyes could only watch as the motorcycle rushed from far to near, finally right before her.

"Crash!" Another deafening sound followed. Mi Xue’s body was thrown unnaturally into the air. Zhang Yang, who had jumped to the side, suddenly found his eyes bloodshot, bulging out ferociously, his teeth grinding audibly. Xiao Bin and Gu Cheng, who had been examining the pager, both looked up, watching the scene unfold in terror. Everything had happened too fast—too fast for them to process. In that short span, Hu Xin was grazed, and Mi Xue was sent flying. It felt like a dream.

"Hu Xin, Hu Xin!" Xiao Dai finally snapped out of her shock, crawling toward Hu Xin and crying out his name loudly. Half of Hu Xin's face was covered in blood, his appearance terrifyingly gruesome. "Stop wailing like a funeral dirge; I'm fine!" Hu Xin, with half his face bloody, actually managed to crack a smile at Xiao Dai. After smiling, he added, "As long as you’re alright, that’s all that matters!" Xiao Dai froze for a moment, then hugged Hu Xin’s head, the tears in her eyes unable to be held back any longer. Though she had been terrified, it didn't mean she was oblivious. She knew Hu Xin had pushed her away, saving her from the disaster.

"Mi Xue!" Seeing that Hu Xin was relatively safe, Xiao Bin and Gu Cheng immediately turned toward Mi Xue. Her situation was far from optimistic. She had been hit directly by the motorcycle; she was the most severely injured. Zhang Yang was already standing beside her, his eyes still red, his face terribly pale. His hands were continuously pressing points on Mi Xue’s body. Beneath her, a wide pool of bright scarlet was spreading—a sight even more horrific than Hu Xin’s injury.

"Don't cry; I'm okay. Just help me up," Hu Xin noticed the situation on the side and slowly struggled to stand. The fact that he could stand on his own gave Xiao Dai some relief, and her heart settled slightly. But that relief didn't last long before it was snatched away. She finally noticed the worse condition of Mi Xue beside them and couldn't help letting out another scream. She had been stunned earlier and then knocked down by Hu Xin, so she hadn't registered Mi Xue's state at all.

"Gu Cheng, go flag down a vehicle! Xiao Bin, go watch that motorcycle driver. We need to get to the Third Hospital immediately!" Zhang Yang’s hands finally stopped moving. He quietly gave instructions to Xiao Bin and Gu Cheng beside him, then carefully lifted Mi Xue and moved her to a safer spot nearby. Mi Xue was wearing a white dress today; the entire lower half was dyed a vivid scarlet. The blood-red dress was piercingly bright against the surroundings.

Xiao Bin and Gu Cheng were already frantic, but upon hearing Zhang Yang’s commands, they instinctively followed his instructions. Fortunately, it wasn't too late. Gu Cheng quickly managed to flag down a taxi. The driver was a kind-hearted man who rushed over immediately when he heard about the accident, eager to help ferry the injured—unlike the drivers in the era that followed Zhang Yang’s, who would avoid an accident scene no matter what kind of vehicle they were driving.
