Having retrieved Artemis and dispatched Apollo, the journey to the other world was remarkably brief and smooth—so much so that Ye Wen could barely recall what he had actually done there, save for the prominent memory of killing Apollo.
However, now there was one more thing to add to that ledger: the nearly one hundred Moon Elves who had become another tangible memory. When he, Artemis, and these hundred-odd Moon Elves appeared on Mount Olympus, even Athena, who had specifically come to greet them, was startled.
"These are...?"
"The subjects from that world!" Artemis's reply was curt, and her tone was not exactly pleasant. This was in stark contrast to Ye Wen, who was openly declaring to the Moon Elves, "This woman is terrifying; you must never provoke her in the future. Furthermore, her relationship with the Goddess you worship is not very good..."
"..."
Athena knew Ye Wen was doing this deliberately. Although they were currently cooperating, their relationship seemed to be deteriorating rapidly!
Artemis said nothing, seemingly in tacit agreement! It was precisely because of her demeanor that the numerous Moon Elves, already aware that this seemingly noble, beautiful, and arrogant female was, in fact, the true form of the Goddess they had always revered, maintained the necessary respect for Athena, yet their gazes held a degree of wariness.
Ye Wen turned back, looking at Athena, who had clearly taken pains with her appearance: "I have done what you wished. The rest has nothing to do with me! As for the meeting with that person..." Ye Wen casually tossed out a jade tablet: "I will notify you when the time comes!" Athena took the tablet and turned it over in her hand a couple of times: "It had better be arranged sooner rather than later. If the Holy War ends, that person will awaken!" "I know!"
Nodding, it seemed the matters here were concluded. Ye Wen prepared to head directly to the Snow Plains, intending to find a moment to arrange the meeting and cooperation between Athena and Lucifer—there was nothing left on Mount Olympus that warranted his attention.
He raised a foot to depart, but before he had taken more than a few steps, Artemis pulled on the wide sleeve of his robe: "I'm coming too!"
"Eh?" Although Artemis’s impression of Ye Wen had shifted somewhat following the experience with Ekaterina, her fundamental personality should remain the same. Thus, Ye Wen said nothing about bringing her along, believing that even if her view of him had softened, she would still adhere to her role as the Goddess of the Moon and Hunt.
In other words, Mount Olympus was her home; now that she had returned, there seemed little reason for her to follow him away?
However, Artemis had her own reasoning: "I need to arrange a new homeland for them. Mount Olympus is clearly unsuitable!" The Moon Elves were perhaps slightly stronger than ordinary humans, possessed better innate talents, and enjoyed longer lifespans, but this did not grant them the right to reside alongside the Gods on Mount Olympus.
Moreover, while the major Olympian Gods generally had their own devoted followers, none had ever brought their entire congregation to reside on the divine mountain. Therefore, although the Moon Elves were all subjects of Artemis, they required a separate dwelling place.
At most, they would receive the protection of Artemis and the Olympian Pantheon, ensuring their peaceful development, survival, and the continuation of their bloodline.
Ye Wen glanced at the nearly one hundred Moon Elves. Most of them were slender, ethereally beautiful, and possessed pointed ears, though a few looked quite distinct—likely the half-bloods. Their appearance differed significantly from the ordinary humans of this world, meaning proper arrangements were indeed necessary.
"What are you planning?"
"The Moon Elves are accustomed to living in the forest. Finding a forest with a pleasant environment should suffice!"
The ecological environment of this world was still quite primal; finding a dense forest was not difficult. The complication was the need to keep far from human habitation.
The two walked on, discussing the matter casually. As for the hundred-odd elves, they followed obediently behind, constantly looking around, seemingly quite curious about this world. Perhaps anyone would be the same.
After observing for a while, Anita discovered that this world appeared identical to the one she had originally inhabited—the same air, the same flora, the same sky... even the sun shone overhead. If the Goddess hadn't told them, she might have assumed she was still in her own world, having merely stepped into another location.
But after walking a short distance, Anita realized the path ended. The sheer cliff face offered almost no handholds, and looking down from their height, she couldn't see the ground below. Such height and such a steep wall meant that even the most agile Elven hunter could not descend safely to the bottom.
Just as she was about to ask how they would get down, Anita watched Ye Wen actually float into the air. He then pointed at their group and addressed the Goddess: "How do you plan to bring this group down the mountain?" Artemis frowned, then brought a finger to her mouth and blew a sharp whistle. In remarkably short order, a chariot drawn by two powerful stags flew in from a distance. Before the chariot fully stopped, Artemis leaped lightly onto it, then slapped the edge of the carriage, causing a long trail of light, like a comet's tail, to stream out behind it.
"Wow! That's impressive!" Ye Wen could clearly see that the luminous trail was formed from solidified Lunar Power, substantial enough to stand upon. It seemed Artemis intended for the elves to step onto it so the chariot could carry them away from Mount Olympus.
Seeing this, he said no more. He burst forth with a sword light that shot straight toward the heavens, causing the Moon Elves to stare, frozen, unsure how to react. In their understanding, even the Goddess of the Moon did not possess such exaggerated abilities. While the Goddess before them had demonstrated some impressive feats, in their eyes, the chariot was the truly wondrous thing.
But Ye Wen used no artifact, nor did he ride any flying mount; he simply ascended into the air, enveloped in dazzling light, and flew far ahead. This was somewhat beyond their comprehension.
Hesitantly stepping onto the stream of light resembling a comet's tail, the elves peered down at the light beneath their feet with apprehension. They were all suspended in mid-air—if their footing suddenly gave way and they fell... it wouldn't be so bad now, but falling from a great height would surely result in utter annihilation.
Once Artemis’s chariot ascended high into the air, many of the elves huddled together, some trembling where they stood, and others screaming and closing their eyes, daring not to look down at all.
Only Anita remained relatively composed. Yet, only she knew that her own legs felt weak, and she dared only keep her gaze fixed upward or parallel, never daring to glance downward even slightly, fearing she, too, would lose her nerve and collapse.
This situation continued for quite some time until the elves were certain they were safe before they slowly began to gain courage. A few younger elves even tugged at the sleeves of those nearby, pointing downwards.
By then, Artemis’s chariot had caught up with Ye Wen. The two traveled side by side, and naturally, many elves looked upon Ye Wen with curiosity mixed with awe.
Anita was among them; she was increasingly intrigued by this man's identity.
Initially, she had assumed this man was a powerful deity, much like the Goddess, and someone she knew very well. Later, when Apollo appeared, she had realized this man seemed to share a rather intimate connection with the Goddess.
But upon arriving in this world, the reappearance of the Goddess, the man’s subsequent reaction, and the immediate decision to leave had left her bewildered: "Did I guess wrong? Then what exactly is his identity?" She was certain of one thing: this man was not aligned with the Goddess she worshiped!
Artemis stood upon the chariot, and a familiar feeling returned. However, when she noticed Ye Wen in her peripheral vision, she found her attention being drawn toward the man once again.
"What a..."
What "what," Artemis pondered for a long time, unable to find a suitable word, finally giving up with a frustrated sigh, continuing to stare straight ahead. Yet, in the corner of her eye, that figure was always present.
Ye Wen was unaware of this. After flying for a while and observing that Artemis seemed to be gradually reverting to her old self, he felt a slight pang of disappointment. He had long understood that although Ekaterina's memories influenced Artemis, they could not fundamentally change her core nature.
"I am going to the Forgotten Snow Plains! I will be there for the foreseeable future!"
"..." Artemis remained silent. It wasn't until Ye Wen turned and changed direction that she, almost compelled by an unknown force, steered the chariot and followed.
Ye Wen didn't notice at first, but when he looked back, he saw Artemis still tracking him slightly behind and to the side. Surprised, he slowed down, matching her pace again: "You are..." Artemis bit her lip, then said resentfully, "I'm going there to have a look too!"
Honestly, this was not an ideal choice. Artemis had brought her subjects directly into a world of ice and snow. Most of the elves immediately exhibited strong discomfort upon arrival in this environment, many huddling together for warmth.
The divine light trailing the Artemis's chariot prevented the elves from being affected by downdrafts and strong winds, but the cold could not be entirely shut out. Anita finally had no choice but to speak up: "Goddess, it is too cold here; the clan members are beginning to falter!" Looking back, Artemis felt a touch of pity. She turned, cast Ye Wen an annoyed glare, and prepared to change direction again.
Just then, Ye Wen casually waved his hand, and a long sword materialized from thin air. Under Ye Wen's control, it traced an orange-red arc across the sky, finally positioning itself directly above the elves.
Immediately, the orange-red long sword radiated a warmth akin to the sun, slowly dissipating the chill from the elves!
This divine sword was naturally the Sun Sword from the Sun and Moon Divine Swords. Since absorbing solar divine power, it was no longer restricted to functioning only when the sun was high in the sky. This divine sword had finally earned its title; it inherently contained powerful solar energy, and emitting simple warmth was now a trivial matter.
Anita naturally recognized the long sword. Only then did she understand that the swords the man conjured so casually were such marvelous weapons—not only capable of flight but also possessing these miraculous effects.
Given this, Artemis stopped considering changing direction. After flying a bit further with pursed lips, Ye Wen was the first to speak: "Back then, how did Athena manage to trick you?"
This topic seemed inappropriate to discuss in front of Artemis’s subjects, but Ye Wen struggled to find an alternative opening, so he used this as a starting point.
Fortunately, Artemis cared little for such matters. Compared to major gods like Athena, Ares, Apollo, and Poseidon, who commanded countless followers, Artemis rarely sought to develop her following and cared little about how many people believed in her, making her one of the most idiosyncratic members of the Olympian Pantheon.
Such a being naturally paid no mind to such trivialities, so she answered Ye Wen’s question with utter frankness: "When I went out hunting to relieve boredom, Athena ambushed me, pretending to be prey!" As she spoke, Artemis touched her neck with a hostile expression, likely where Athena had struck her during the attack.
"Then I was immobilized, forced to watch as she divided my divine consciousness into several parts, and subsequently tossed me into that world, compelling me into slumber."
In reality, the situation was far more complex. As Athena cast Artemis into that world, she whispered something in her ear: "Pray that your charm is great enough!"
Artemis hadn't understood the meaning of those words then, but now she understood: she had merely been bait set by that woman, Athena—a massive lure designed to draw Ye Wen in so he would eliminate Apollo.
In truth, when she awoke and regained consciousness, there was indeed a fleeting moment of happiness in her heart, and this sliver of joy had nothing to do with Ekaterina: after all, when a man is willing to save you from danger, even the proudest woman, one who disdains men, will have her depths stirred.
Furthermore, Artemis did not truly despise men. Her previous posturing had been a form of self-protection.
Now, she no longer needed to act that way. With Apollo dead, Artemis felt a massive weight lifted from her chest, and the person who had removed that weight, Ye Wen, had unknowingly occupied a very important position.
Coupled with the memories from Ekaterina...
"I see..." Ye Wen pondered for a moment, "Then, would you like to take revenge?"
"What?" Artemis was momentarily stunned, not quite grasping the meaning of Ye Wen's words.
"Doesn't Athena anger you for plotting against you like that?" As he spoke, Ye Wen abruptly dissolved the sword light surrounding him and, to Artemis's astonishment, stepped onto the chariot, standing beside her.
He reached out and tucked a stray strand of Artemis's hair behind her ear. As he performed this action, Ye Wen found it incredibly natural, and Artemis allowed the intimate gesture quite calmly, feeling no impropriety whatsoever.
"I said I wouldn't let anyone bully you!" That statement wasn't just for Apollo; he truly intended to act on it! Moreover, Athena, that wretched woman, had schemed against him countless times; how could he swallow that insult without retaliating?
Athena was petty, and Ye Wen’s temperament was hardly magnanimous. He was never the type to smile graciously and display broad tolerance after being slapped once; rather, his nature dictated giving a few slaps back.
"How do you plan to do it?" Artemis was not short, and standing beside Ye Wen, she didn't need to crane her neck to speak to him. However, due to their proximity, she still had to lift her chin slightly—an action that made her appear as if she were offering her own alluringly glistening lips.
Ye Wen's heart skipped a beat. He took a breath to steady himself: "Athena has done all this, mostly because she desires to become the King of Olympus... In that case, let's ensure she never becomes the King!"
Although Athena had plotted against him, she had maintained some restraint and hadn't tried to kill him, so it didn't constitute an irreconcilable feud. Ye Wen didn't necessarily need to kill her for satisfaction! However, she absolutely had to pay a price. After consideration, the position of King was what she valued most; perhaps he could undermine her there.
Ye Wen had even conceived a general plan: "After all, the position of Olympus King is alluring enough; there must be more than just Athena who desires that throne, right?" He glanced at Artemis, standing so close: "Are you interested?"
She shook her head. Artemis had absolutely no interest in the so-called position of King: "I dislike being constrained..."
This response was perfectly in line with Artemis’s character, as if Ye Wen had anticipated it. He quickly presented his true candidate: "What do you think about letting Hades become the King?"
