The dark battle saber in Blood Blade's hand shot out like a flood dragon emerging from the sea, its gleam a torrent, aimed at Ice Cloud's jade neck. Before contact, the elegant strands of hair near Ice Cloud's shoulder were violently swept back, fluttering wildly.
Ice Cloud, however, showed no fear on her face, her gaze lofty as she surveyed Blood Blade. Suddenly, she shifted her body, her palm grazing past the edge of the saber as she lunged for Blood Blade's wrist. Surprised, Blood Blade quickly flicked his wrist, sweeping the blade horizontally with undiminished force.
Ice Cloud sneered, reaching back with her other delicate hand toward the saber she wore. With a slight tremor, the button securing the rope around the weapon loosened. The blade swept out, whipping up a gale. Those nearby, seeing the two engage, had already cleared a wide berth. As the blade passed, even the fine gravel on the ground was lifted like fallen leaves.
With a dull thud, the battle saber cleaved the very spot where Blood Blade had stood. Cold sweat beaded on Blood Blade’s forehead, his eyes becoming increasingly savage as he glared at Ice Cloud's cool and proud cheekbones, resembling a bloodthirsty, untamed wolf. Yet, he did not charge again. That single horizontal sweep from Ice Cloud had made him acutely aware of the disparity. He then spat out coldly, "I'll let you off the hook today. Half of that Aphid Serpent carcass goes to me, and I’m leaving!" He knew that once his superhuman state faded, the strongest present would be Long Zhixiang and Wu Hao. If they attacked him jointly, he would be in deep trouble.
Ye Chen frowned slightly at this turn. Though they had fought, no one was injured, and the focus immediately shifted to dividing the monster carcasses. Here, he instinctively tightened his grip on the blood-red battle saber, preparing to draw both bodies into his Rune Space. Just then, Ice Cloud suddenly spat, letting out a cold laugh, "Let you off? I’m not letting you off!"
The words were barely out when she stamped her delicate, fair foot onto the ground and surged forward, swinging the battle saber, which looked like a door panel, down towards Blood Blade’s head, slicing the air with a distinct gnashing sound. Blood Blade roared in shock and anger, "I tolerated you because you’re the pampered darling of Huaxia Base City, but don't push your luck!"
Whoosh! Ice Cloud ignored him, hacking down with her saber, forcing Blood Blade to frantically parry but leaving him unable to counterattack. Watching Blood Blade being completely suppressed by Ice Cloud, the surrounding onlookers gasped in horror. At this moment, Ice Cloud abruptly stopped, fixing her gaze on Long Zhixiang and Wu Hao beside her. She tilted her chin upward proudly, "You two: either get out with your people right now, or come fight me!"
Long Zhixiang and Wu Hao were momentarily stunned before offering wry smiles. Long Zhixiang coughed lightly, "You’re just trying to prevent us from ambushing you after your superhuman state ends. Since that’s the case, let’s divide the two carcasses now."
Ice Cloud brought her saber back, raising an eyebrow. "There’s nothing to negotiate. The Flood Serpent is mine, and you three families can split the Lion Monster! Either fight, or scram!" Hearing such coarse and vulgar language from such a beautiful woman left everyone present somewhat speechless.
Long Zhixiang forced a smile. "How about we swap? You take the Lion Monster, and our three families split the Aphid Serpent?" Any discerning eye could see that the Aphid Serpent was fully half again the size of the Lion Monster!
Ice Cloud picked up her cigar, scrutinizing Long Zhixiang for a moment, then suddenly declared, "You look like a man, refined and scholarly, so why are you acting like a woman—so long-winded and indecisive? Agree, and carry the Lion Monster corpse away. Disagree, and let’s fight!"
Long Zhixiang choked, nearly gagging. He glanced over and saw Wu Hao standing nearby, a knowing smile playing on his lips, clearly enjoying the spectacle. Unable to help himself, he rolled his eyes at Ice Cloud. "Since you insist, then so be it."
Ice Cloud raised her hand and commanded, "Move the bodies away." The generals behind her, aware that her superhuman time was limited, knew that these people might renege once it passed. They immediately surged toward the two monster carcasses.
Ye Chen, standing near the Tyrant Lion carcass, understood from their exchange that the bodies would soon be claimed. After a moment of deep thought, he decisively activated his Superman Mode. A pair of dark antennae immediately extended from his forehead, and the ground beneath his feet cracked apart. He opened his Rune Space and swiftly grabbed the Tyrant Lion's claw, tossing it onto the spaceship within his Rune Space.
"What is that!"
"Such a massive black hole!!"
"The Lion Monster corpse is gone!"
Everyone’s attention was drawn to the commotion, and they were utterly horrified.
Ye Chen ignored the reaction. While they were still reeling in shock, he moved. In less than four seconds, he arrived beside the Aphid Serpent carcass. He reached out but found the scales cold and incredibly smooth, offering nothing to grip, causing him to frown.
"Stop!"
"Get away!"
Just then, several angry shouts erupted. It was Long Zhixiang and the others, who, witnessing the sudden event, flew into a rage and activated their Superman Modes, charging over.
A cold malice flashed in Ye Chen's eyes as he turned around. A fierce wind whipped his dark hair. Above Nine Dragon Mountain, the sky had somehow darkened, clouds churning—as if a chilling gaze from above was watching the people below.
Looking up, the hillsides and fields were packed with people. Rumble—
Thunder rolled, and the strong wind made the trees on the mountain rustle violently.
"He's trying to steal the monster corpses!"
"Kill him!"
"Let's all go!"
Seeing Long Zhixiang and others take the lead, members of various guilds rushed forward, plunging the situation into chaos. Everyone hoped to fish in troubled waters and snatch a scrap of the monster carcasses.
Long Zhixiang and the others were surprised to recognize the black-haired man clad in animal skins as Ye Chen. However, they did not retreat. Seeing him about to transport the other carcass into that mysterious space, they roared in fury and charged.
In ordinary times, they might have had reservations, but since gaining Superman Mode, they feared nothing. They felt confident fighting even Murong De, and if they couldn't win, they could at least escape.
Confidence, like a double-edged sword, makes the humble strong, and the strong arrogant!
The wind intensified!
The clouds churned violently!
Ye Chen gazed at the surging crowd, like a tide about to drown him. The suppressed killing intent inside him surged and swelled, inciting a bloodthirsty urge to slaughter everything. But another thought cautioned him: "Don't get angry. Killing these people weakens humanity's overall strength!"
"Who cares about that? As long as I survive!" a savage voice argued back.
"But without humanity, Earth will be full of monsters, and you’ll die eventually!"
"I’ll enter the Ancient World; I won't die there!"
"The Ancient World... hehe, you know how brutal it is there."
The two thoughts clashed violently within his mind, and the struggle in Ye Chen's eyes intensified. These two monster carcasses were immensely useful to him. By absorbing their vital energy, he could quickly become a Qili Master, push his physique past level one hundred, and awaken his talents. Therefore, giving up the monster corpses was absolutely impossible!
But, to protect monsters, should he slaughter humans?
As he was caught in this mental turmoil, a great saber shattered the wind and cleaved towards him. Ye Chen’s thoughts shifted, and he failed to notice the danger until the chilling killing intent from the blade’s edge jolted him awake from his trance. Fortunately, he was in Superman Mode, his strength reaching several thousand levels, and his neural reaction speed was not slow. He narrowly avoided the blow, losing only a lock of hair.
The entire world suddenly fell silent.
That lock of hair scattered into the sky on the wind.
Boom! A bolt of lightning tore through the void, flashing horizontally as if ripping the sky itself open! The dark clouds pressed even lower, nearly scraping the ground, lightning crackling between them.
Ye Chen leaped onto the Aphid Serpent’s body, towering two zhang high, looking down at the scene. He saw countless people roaring, swarming like ants, snarling ferociously, brandishing knives and swords, converging on him.
One man, facing the entire world!
The gale howled, whipping the animal skins Ye Chen wore, the cold seeping into his bones. A trace of anger and sorrow flickered in his eyes. The blood-red battle saber in his hand seemed to sense its master’s mood, becoming colder, its sharpness radiating intensely, like unyielding base iron enduring the wind and thunder.
"Cast aside the compassion in your heart, kill all these foolish people!" A voice rich with tempting power agitated his mind. At this moment, the cold light in Ye Chen’s eyes flared intensely, and within those ten thousand icy points of light, there was a single, deep spark of black brilliance!
The gale swept in—the dark clouds roared.
He tilted his head, looking at the sky!
He raised his battle saber!
His blade pointed toward the heavens!
Like a humble ant, provoking the majesty of heaven and earth!
The clouds pressed down—the wind intensified, roaring furiously.
Those nearby who had not yet charged felt an inexplicable urge to hold their breath, as if their hearts had stopped beating, watching without blinking.
At this moment, Long Zhixiang, Wu Hao, and Blood Blade charged forward. But Ice Cloud stood still, watching the man standing atop the Aphid Serpent, raising his blade to defy the firmament, her eyes shining with fascination, a graceful arc forming on her lips.
"Ye Chen! Drop the corpses, and I’ll spare your life!" Blood Blade roared harshly.
Long Zhixiang knew Ye Chen’s strength was extraordinary. If a real fight broke out, he would likely suffer heavy losses. He quickly said, "Don't be rash. You cannot defeat all of us by yourself."
Amidst the roaring wind, Ye Chen’s gaze slowly retreated from the sky. He lowered his head and looked toward Blood Blade. The wind seemed to suddenly retreat, and the world quieted. Thunder moved within the clouds, clustering behind Ye Chen. A bolt of lightning tore through the sky behind him, illuminating the world brightly, yet the onlookers could not discern his expression.
Ye Chen lowered the blood-red battle saber, holding the hilt, and pointed directly at Blood Blade. His voice, devoid of any emotion, was so cold it could freeze flame: "You are not worthy." There was no joy or anger in his tone, just a chilling calm that nevertheless made Blood Blade’s body involuntarily tremble slightly. A chill shot up from the bottom of his heart, and the skin across his entire body quivered.
His eyes widened in utter terror. The accumulated bloodlust and brutality within him were extinguished by those few words. He felt cold from head to toe, becoming completely sobered.
