Leading two large military camps to Tiger Tooth Mountain, one hundred miles beyond the North Ring Road, to annihilate the monsters there—the mission time: one day!

“Leading two large military camps…” Ye Chen’s eyes flashed. “This is a test by the higher-ups to gauge the command capabilities and large-scale combat effectiveness of the new General. Whether I gain prominence later depends on this mission.”

Immediately, Ye Chen finished breakfast and drove the specially assigned, luxurious General-class vehicle toward Barracks 89 and 90. Along the way, residents heard the roar of the engine, quickly cleared the way, and then watched the car disappear with envy.

Not long after, he arrived outside Barracks 89.

“Welcome, General Ye~~”

As soon as he arrived, Ye Chen saw a long line of soldiers at attention in front of the main gate of the camp’s inner zone, rendering crisp salutes. Many female soldiers cheered loudly. Standing near the gate were dozens of figures; mostly men, fewer women. Judging by the bars on their chests, they were all personnel at the Regiment or Field level!

Standing at the very front was a middle-aged man, quite stout, his face split in a wide smile. This build, in later times, would make for excellent ‘mobile provisions,’ but the insignia on his chest commanded respect—Camp Commander!

Ye Chen stopped his car and stepped out of the luxury vehicle. The sunlight bathed him, feeling quite comfortable. Ye Chen walked toward the stout man with a calm expression.

“Your subordinate greets General Ye. Congratulations on your appointment, General,” the stout man bowed slightly, smiling. He looked rather simple and harmless, yet every person who reaches this rank has blood on their hands… the blood of their own kind!

Ye Chen nodded. It seemed this stout man was well-informed, even knowing about his new mission, having set up this welcoming ceremony, perhaps out of fear that the newly appointed General might make an example of him to establish dominance.

“Let’s talk inside!” Ye Chen led the way into the camp.

The stout man quickly followed, flattering him: “I am Ge Tian. I have long heard of General Ye’s great reputation, personally recruited by Commander Hua with an invitation letter. Seeing your genius today confirms it—truly extraordinary.”

Ye Chen glanced at him. “Thank you for the compliment. You should be aware of this mission, Commander Ge. Time is limited. Please dispatch someone immediately to notify Barracks 90 to prepare their troops. Mobilize as many as you can.”

Ge Tian quickly nodded. “I have already sent someone to notify them; they will arrive shortly.”

Ye Chen nodded.

Ge Tian stole a glance at him. “General Ye, how do you plan to annihilate the monsters on Tiger Tooth Mountain? I hear the monsters there are numerous, and many powerful ones are entrenched. Eliminating them with the troops of only two camps won’t be easy, will it?”

Ye Chen nodded. “First, dispatch reconnaissance personnel to scout Tiger Tooth Mountain. Tell me the number and appearance of the monsters. I have my methods.”

Ge Tian looked at him doubtfully but said no more. Understanding monster intelligence beforehand was the most basic action. He quickly agreed and then smiled, “General Ye, please, come to my office for a rest. I recently had the Reconnaissance Department help me search for some fine teas. Please savor them at your leisure.”

“En,” Ye Chen nodded.

Ge Tian beckoned, and a Regiment Commander nearby rushed over, bowing and scraping. “Greetings to the General, greetings to the Camp Commander!”

Ge Tian instructed, “You, escort General Ye to my office, prepare tea for him, and I will join you after I finish handling some matters.”

The Regiment Commander quickly nodded and smiled at Ye Chen. “General Ye, please follow me.”

Ye Chen nodded, preparing to turn, when a sudden thought struck him. He looked at Ge Tian. “Commander Ge, help me look up the file for one person. His name is Li Junhui.”

“Li Junhui?” Ge Tian paused, then nodded. “Understood, I will certainly handle it as quickly as possible.”

Ye Chen nodded and followed the Regiment Commander to the office to rest.

After Ye Chen left, the smile vanished from Ge Tian’s face. He waved his hand, and several Regiment Commanders rushed over. He ordered, “Hurry and see if Commander Li has arrived. Also, quickly gather all the intelligence on the monsters of Tiger Tooth Mountain. Do not delay!”

The Regiment Commanders nodded hastily and then excused themselves.

Ge Tian looked in the direction Ye Chen had gone, a cold sneer curving his lips. “Every newly appointed General gets assigned a test mission to gauge command ability. Hmph! Young Master Yun instructed me to ensure your test ends in failure. Just you wait! Daring to steal Young Master Yun’s woman…”

...

In a lavish, independent villa.

By the glass window ledge, a young man held a glass of red wine, looking down at the distance with a smile playing on his lips. Behind him stood a youth, black-haired, with ice-cold eyes, devoid of any human warmth, resembling a drawn sword—all sharpness.

“Yin, do you think he can succeed?” the young man asked the distance, smiling slightly.

The black-clad youth’s expression remained blank. “Unknown.”

The young man smiled slightly. “This person could endure in an ordinary military camp, indicating vast ambitions. The dragon hides in the field, waiting for one battle to soar to the heavens; the great ones hide in the city, the small ones hide in the field. He is not lurking in the wilderness waiting for a chance to gather talent and build a base city, yet he chose to hide in the base city, content to be a mere soldier. The ambitions and ideals in his heart are beyond what ordinary powerhouses can compare to. This test mission, though difficult, given his capabilities, he should manage to complete it, albeit barely.”

“En!” the black-clad youth nodded.

“However…” A glint appeared in the young man’s eyes. “Young Master Yun, Murong’s fiancé, will likely not let him go easily. Those two camp commanders have likely been bought off and will seize the opportunity to sabotage him. I wonder if he can handle it.”

The black-clad youth said coldly, “You only need useful people!”

The young man smiled faintly. “This is not a junkyard. If this person completes the mission, even if the losses are heavy, I will pay a handsome price to cultivate him, to let him battle Young Master Yun properly!”

...

Slightly bitter!

Ye Chen held the delicate tea, took a sip, and placed it back on the table, casually surveying the room. Just then, with a creak, the door opened, and two men walked in. One was Ge Tian; the other was a young man, tall and slender, quite handsome.

“I am Li Feng. Greetings, General Ye!” The young man bowed slightly.

Ye Chen nodded. “Are the men prepared?”

Ge Tian smiled affably. “Everything is perfectly ready.”

“And the monster intelligence?”

“That has also been compiled.” Ge Tian handed the file in his hand to Ye Chen. “The Reconnaissance Department has been monitoring that area for a long time. All intelligence regarding the monsters up there is recorded. Here are all the files.”

Ye Chen took them casually, flipped through them for a few glances, then nodded, closed the file, and stated, “Dispatch 300 men from each camp—a total of 600. Equip them with 100 catties of gasoline, wooden clubs, and sugar water!”

Ge Tian was stunned. “Wooden clubs?”

He could understand bringing gasoline, assuming it was for blowing up monsters, though 100 catties was far from enough, so he didn't press the issue. As for sugar water, it was likely for luring monsters, but what use were wooden clubs?

Ye Chen nodded. “Additionally, go to the Military Treasury in the Commerce Department and draw 100 Flame Guns. Then go to the Research Department and collect the enhanced version of arsenic and other potent poisons.”

Ge Tian and Li Feng exchanged a look. Was this a monster hunt or an assassination?

However, neither dared to say much and quickly ordered the execution of the commands. About an hour later, everything was prepared. Then, dozens of large trucks stopped outside the camp, with 20 people seated in each. Besides these trucks, there were 10 tanks!

Ye Chen, along with the two Camp Commanders, Ge Tian and another, and several Regiment Commanders, rode together in the same tank as they drove out of the base city. Passersby on the roads saw the magnificent convoy, quickly giving way, their faces stunned with envy.

After driving for a short while, the tank suddenly stopped. Ye Chen frowned slightly. Ge Tian beside him quickly said, “Please wait a moment, I’ll go see what’s happening.”

He opened the hatch above his head, climbed out of the tank, and looked forward, seeing the city exit blocked, seemingly due to an argument. He frowned and called out to the men in the large truck next to them, “Go see what the hold-up is.”

“Yes,” a Captain responded respectfully.

Ye Chen waited not long before the tank resumed moving forward. As they passed the city gate, Ye Chen casually glanced around and spotted two young men whose faces were ashen, glaring fiercely at the passing tanks and trucks. Beside these two youths was a little girl, her small face dirty, looking pitiful and heartbreaking.

Ye Chen’s gaze sharpened suddenly. “Stop.”

“Huh?” Ge Tian hadn’t heard clearly and paused.

Ye Chen couldn't be bothered to repeat himself. He opened the top hatch, flipped out, and landed gracefully in front of the two youths. After a careful look, he confirmed he hadn't misjudged: these two seemingly down-on-their-luck youths were actually figures among the top ten Gene Warriors from his previous life. The thin, handsome youth on the left had a knife scar across his face; in his past life, he was known as ‘Phantom Wind’—a being on par with Thor!

The one on the right was powerfully built, with sword-like eyebrows and star-like eyes, his face chiseled like a knife. He was once known by the title ‘Golden Armor God,’ overwhelmingly formidable. These two were powerhouses in the China region but later, for unknown reasons, betrayed their faction and defected to a powerful base city in Russia.

“Who are you?” The youth titled ‘Phantom Wind,’ named Xu Tianguo, saw Ye Chen dismount from the tank and knew he was a big shot in the base city, so he became wary.

Ye Chen glanced over, noticing a bruise on his arm, and looked toward the city guards nearby. “What’s going on here?”
