…… Ye Chen’s expression darkened, his eyes filled with intense killing intent and malice. He had encountered such a situation in his previous life, but that was during the late stages of the apocalypse.

Those who survived to the late stages of the apocalypse possessed not only immense power but also extraordinary intellect, so petty acts of betrayal were not uncommon then. However, he never expected this to happen after only three months, especially from someone he had personally saved from despair.

Generally, anyone facing utter despair would be immensely grateful to the hand that reached out to help. Yet, this person’s heart had turned so quickly!

Ye Chen let out a soft breath, his demeanor calming. A cold smile curved his lips as he slowly raised his hand, touching the silver ring on his index finger.

This runic ring instantly transformed back into its original form—an energy pistol! The design of the infinite-bullet energy pistol was extremely striking, its barrel as thick as a baby’s arm, the body elegantly curved, and featuring small wings on both sides that, when unfolded, resembled a crossbow.

Roar~~~ Countless monsters surged forward like a tide, drawn by the sound of the heavy truck speeding along. Only Ye Chen would dare drive a vehicle at such reckless speeds on the roads of the post-apocalypse.

Bang bang bang…… Ye Chen turned, planting his feet wide, embodying the spirit of a solitary guardian no army can breach. The infinite-bullet energy pistol in his hand entered "Energy Accumulation" mode.

As the trigger was pulled, it fired rapidly. The delay between shots was shorter than that of a machine gun, allowing for continuous fire, provided the energy compressed into bullets could replenish fast enough.

The main barrel of the energy pistol had two ports, and on the two wings, there were three small holes each, about the size of mung beans, totaling eight orifices. Besides operating the main barrel with the trigger, there were two buttons on either side that served as the firing mechanisms for the wings.

Roar!! A Level 15 Zombie Hound charged forward ferociously.

The massive truck presented no obstacle to it; it traversed the ground as if on flat plains, closing the distance to Ye Chen in a short burst. Ye Chen’s expression was icy.

He aimed the energy pistol at the creature, pulled the trigger, and two white energy projectiles, the size of glass beads, shot out. Their speed was countless times faster than a Type 64 pistol, or even a rifle; the Desert Eagle couldn't even hope to catch up.

With a thud, the two white energy bullets struck the Zombie Hound’s forehead, exploding like bombs. Blackish-red brain matter sprayed out like spilled ink, completely pulverizing its skull.

Yet, its limbs continued to move a few steps before it finally collapsed onto the ground. “Worthy of being an item used by Green Talisman people.

Although this pistol is just a toy to them, for these Level 15 monsters, it’s enough for an easy instant kill. Even a Level 100 monster couldn't evade it.” Ye Chen inwardly praised.

One must remember that any casual Green Talisman person was a Level 1000 powerhouse. The food they ate and the weapons they used were priceless treasures to someone at Ye Chen’s current level.

With this weapon, he could kill any monster below Level 800! Of course, that was predicated on Ye Chen being able to aim at the monster!

With his current Level 30 constitution, he could barely track the movement of a Level 50 monster unless it was exceptionally large enough to hit a body part. A Level 100 monster was completely invisible when moving.

Roar! Seven or eight Zombie Ants lunged from the ground.

Ye Chen did not pull the main trigger but instead pressed the mechanisms on both sides. Immediately, six white light dots sprayed from the two wings, traveling in a straight line, instantly killing four Zombie Ants.

The remaining few were eliminated by the second wave of attack. Ye Chen couldn't help but marvel in his heart: no matter how strong one’s personal might, one still could not do without the power of technology.

It was like a master martial artist, training day and night through all seasons, who is ultimately brought down by a single gunshot. However, one's own strength must also be enhanced; otherwise, no matter how advanced the pistol, if one cannot even see the enemy’s movement, let alone aim and shoot.

Bang bang bang…… The pistol fired continuously, eliminating several pursuing Zombie Hounds and other powerful monsters. These creatures, which could easily dodge and weave around ordinary firearms, didn't even have time to react before falling under the energy pistol’s fire.

Ye Chen glanced around. Many of the powerful monsters had been killed.

Seven or eight Zombie Ants and numerous regular zombies remained. He considered that his small team, working together, should be able to handle them.

If he killed them all by himself, it would be impossible to remain inconspicuous. With that thought, Ye Chen pressed a button on the energy pistol.

Instantly, the cool, striking firearm dissolved into a swirl of white light that wrapped around his index finger, reverting into a delicate silver ring engraved with ancient runes. Bang!

Ye Chen turned and kicked the heavy wooden door open. Looking inside, the first floor was a large hall where several zombies lay sprawled on the ground, their faces contorted in ferocious snarls, eyes wide open, staring at the entrance.

This horrific sight failed to startle Ye Chen. With a flicker of movement, he turned into an afterimage and rushed toward the staircase.

…… Fifth floor, hallway. Bang!

Bai Long blew the head off a zombie with a single shot, sparing a cold glance for its collapsing corpse before holstering his pistol. He looked back at the group behind him, scrutinized them for a moment, and then frowned slightly, “Where is Ye Chen?” “Probably lagging behind!” Yue Heng glanced backward.

Mu Baifeng surveyed their surroundings, sensing no immediate threat from monsters, and suggested, “Let’s wait here for a moment. We owe everything to Brother Ye this time; otherwise, we’d all have been devoured by the monsters.” “Wait?” The others exchanged glances, their faces darkening slightly.

“Is there any need to wait? He was the one who drove the truck to attract these monsters.

If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t be in such a miserable state,” a short man grumbled unhappily. “Exactly.” “The monsters are below.

We should go to the rooftop; it’s safer.” Several other men chimed in their agreement. “Damn it!” Bai Long’s eyes widened, fury boiling inside him.

He roared, “If he hadn’t driven us here, you bastards would have been torn apart by those two Zombie Hounds long ago! And now you’re still whining!

Believe it or not, I’ll shoot you dead right now!” The short man who spoke earlier sneered, “If we are bastards, then what are you? If you're so noble, then don’t stay with us.

Go on your own if you have the guts!” “Go on my own?” Bai Long stared intently at him, “Say one more whining word, and I swear I will kill you!” “Tch!” The short man pouted dismissively. Seeing his attitude, Bai Long’s anger erupted, compounded by the aftereffects of battle lust he was already suffering, giving him a subconscious craving for slaughter.

His fists clenched with a loud crack. He stared at the short man and advanced step by step.

“Don’t be angry, we are a team, let’s talk civilly,” Mu Baifeng noticed the tension rising and quickly interjected, not wanting any internal casualties in their current environment. Bai Long didn't seem to hear him, continuing his approach toward the short man.

“Forget it, Ye Chen told us not to be too conspicuous!” Yue Heng pulled Bai Long back. Bai Long stopped, turned to look at Yue Heng, and recalled Ye Chen’s prior advice.

Gritting his teeth, he turned back to the short man and said coldly, “I will make you pay dearly sooner or later!!” He was seething internally, yet out of respect for Ye Chen, he managed to suppress his rage. Otherwise, tearing this short man to shreds would scarcely alleviate his fury.

He knew that Ye Chen’s instruction to keep a low profile must have a good reason; they knew a little about Ye Chen’s character—he wouldn't easily give orders unless something major was at stake. Endure!

I will rip you apart sooner or later! Bai Long gritted his teeth in silent fury.

The short man looked at him mockingly and sneered, “Kid, you just joined the team, better keep a low profile. Don’t think just because you have a gun…” Slap!

A crisp sound echoed! Five bright red palm prints appeared on the short man’s face; half his face was swollen, and his teeth knocked loose.

The grown man was slapped to the ground. Everyone froze, then looked up to see a black-haired man suddenly standing before him, his expression as cold and unyielding as eternal ice—Ye Chen!

“Watch your mouth!” Ye Chen glanced at him dismissively, then turned and walked toward Bai Long and the others. The short man clutched his cheek.

The searing pain and the surrounding pitying gazes severely wounded his pride; he felt he had never been so humiliated. He stared venomously at Ye Chen’s back, pulled a pistol from his waist, aimed it at Ye Chen’s back, and snarled hideously, “Damn you, trash, die for me!!!” “No!” Mu Baifeng whispered in dismay.

Bai Long and the others, however, did not gasp in shock. Instead, they watched the short man with cold indifference, as if looking at a dead man.

None of them were clearer than they were about the consequences of offending Ye Chen. Click!

Ye Chen’s figure suddenly dissolved into a gentle breeze, phantom-like, appearing before the short man. Before the man could pull the trigger, Ye Chen seized his arm and squeezed lightly.

The sound of cracking bones followed as the arm was forcibly snapped! “Ah…” The short man shrieked like a slaughtered pig.

Ye Chen looked at him coldly and said, “I don’t like people who shoot in the back!” With that, he casually took the man’s pistol and tucked it into the pocket of his leather armor before standing up. However, he did not kill the short man outright.

In the military, there was a rule against infighting; if discovered, even a general would be discharged, imprisoned, or shot outright! Ye Chen did not fear violating military law, but provoking it over such a petty figure was not worth it!

He had at least dozens of ways to kill this young man that would be untraceable and far more cruel than a direct execution… “I hope what happened today is not spread around,” Ye Chen stated coldly to everyone. All of them were intimidated into silence by Ye Chen’s iron-fisted display and quickly nodded.

“I told you not to be too conspicuous, but that doesn't mean you have to endure insults!” Ye Chen leaned close to Bai Long, his voice barely a whisper, then turned his head to look at a corner where a pale young man stood, drenched in cold sweat—it was the youth who had locked him out earlier.
