On Planet Boru, Dao Feng’s spiritual sense detected that his main body had broken through to the Fourth Level, bringing his attached self along with the advancement. He made no attempt to conceal the fluctuation of his spiritual energy; an invisible pressure burst outward in the mental world like an atomic explosion. Both Landon and Baibai, who were taking etiquette lessons in the courtyard, sensed it immediately.
“Huh?” Baibai asked Landon with a look of adorable curiosity, “Sister Xisehe, what happened?”
What Landon saw, however, was her face drained of color, her entire body seemingly petrified. She muttered under her breath, “How is this possible? How could this be?”
“Sister Cicely?” Baibai reached out a small hand and tugged Landon’s sleeve.
“Ah.” Landon snapped back to reality, feeling utterly at a loss. After a moment’s thought, she grabbed Baibai’s hand. “Come with me.”
The two arrived at the door of Dao Feng’s room. As they approached, the door slid open automatically, and Dao Feng stepped out.
“Pack up. We’re heading back to the Solar System immediately.”
Dao Feng’s appearance had changed somewhat compared to before. The most obvious difference was his eyes. In fact, where his eyes should have been within his sockets, there was now a mass of dazzling electrical sparks, as if his entire eyeballs had been replaced by spherical lightning. Tiny currents continuously emanated outward from the sockets, much like water overflowing from a full basin.
Being scrutinized by those eyes gave Landon a prickly, tingling sensation across her skin, as if a faint electrical current was flowing just beneath the surface. Landon immediately mobilized her psychic power to suppress the feeling.
Beside her, Baibai stuck out a soft, pale finger and pointed at Dao Feng, her eyes wide. She asked in an astonished tone, “Brother Dao Feng, why did you become like this? Are your eyes plugged in? Does it hurt?”
A strong sense of concern permeated her words. Dao Feng was delighted. He approached Baibai, stroked her hair, and laughed, “It doesn’t hurt, not at all. It’s wonderful, and it wasn't for nothing that I doted on you.”
“You—you!” Landon stared at him in horror. “Did you ascend to the Fourth Level?”
The Fourth Level! The zenith of carbon-based life evolution, the pinnacle of existence even in the galaxy! Even within the immensely powerful True Human Empire, one might not witness an ascension to the Fourth Level in a hundred years. Yet, after arriving in the Solar System, she had encountered two such beings: Hardek two years ago, and now Dao Feng. The reality of two Fourth Level ascensions was something she found hard to reconcile.
“Never mind anything else for now. Some trouble has arisen in the Solar System—the Kustar fleet has attacked. I need to go back, and you two are coming with me,” Dao Feng stated.
Landon’s heart clenched, and her mind raced. She had stayed here specifically to receive Yang Ying upon his return from the Empire. Dao Feng, having just ascended, was now demanding she return to the Solar System. Did this mean he intended to leave Yang Ying behind in the Empire?
“But Brother Yang Ying hasn’t returned yet!” Before Landon could answer, Baibai voiced her objection first. She cared little whether Dao Feng was Fourth Level or not. “Didn’t you say you would wait here for Brother Yang Ying?”
Dao Feng replied, “There’s no need to wait. Yang Ying, like me, will return on his own.”
Landon could hardly believe what she was hearing. As a well-educated Imperial noble and a peak Third Level master, few things could truly astonish her, but Dao Feng’s breakthrough to the Fourth Level, and the possible implications of his next statement, were certainly enough to shock her.
“Did Yang Ying also break through to the Fourth Level?” Landon asked in a trembling voice.
“Precisely.” Dao Feng waved his hand, tearing open a rift in space, and then stirred it with his hand, forming a vortex-like wormhole.
Wormhole manipulation was originally a technique of the Protoss Arbiters’ spacecraft. The limit of the Third Level, Yang Ying could barely manage it before, but at that time, due to his restricted level, he relied purely on brute force to establish the hole, thus only connecting very short distances.
Now, however, he could borrow the inherent momentum of space itself, utilizing rules rather than just his own power. Tearing open a wormhole like this was sufficient to span nearly ten thousand light-years! If combined with a specialized Arbiter vessel, he could even link any two points in the Milky Way galaxy.
Both Landon and Baibai could see the landscape on the other side of the wormhole—a hazy expanse of green hills, with a castle visible behind them.
“Ah, I know that! That’s Manor City!” Baibai exclaimed, pointing at the wormhole.
Landon gasped, then glanced over at Dao Feng again. A newly ascended Fourth Level entity creating a wormhole that connected Boru Star to the Solar System—how was that possible?
As an Imperial noble, Landon had encountered plenty of Fourth Level beings, despite not having reached that tier herself, and she possessed a thorough understanding of their capabilities.
If opening a wormhole was so easily learned, then the Ape King Hardek wouldn't have perished in the Solar System. A newly ascended Fourth Level being should only be able to grasp the surface layer of the Universal Thunder Rules. Without direct tutelage, mastering the wormhole opening spell would require at least ten years of arduous research, and even then, perfecting the technique to be flawless would be uncertain. The spell would inevitably contain flaws and waste energy. Being able to open a wormhole spanning one light-year would be quite an achievement.
Yet, Dao Feng, immediately upon reaching the Fourth Level, had used a wormhole to connect to the Solar System, a distance measured in thousands of light-years from Boru Star.
Dao Feng hadn't revealed the ocean-like depth of his spiritual power. Under his deliberate concealment, a peak Third Level expert naturally couldn't discern his true strength. Thus, Landon didn't realize he had already reached the peak of the Fourth Level. She only saw the result that a Fourth Level being grasping the rules’ surface layer would need decades to achieve; he saw it instantly—the benefit of profoundly abundant mental strength.
Landon looked at the wormhole, gritted her teeth, and stepped through with Baibai. If Yang Ying possessed this capability too, then waiting for the interstellar gate to bring him back was indeed unnecessary.
Dao Feng then issued an order to the other members of the Teran Mercenary Group remaining on Boru Star: eliminate all traces of technology that surpassed the era, and withdraw from Boru Star quietly.
Then, he too stepped into the wormhole, and the vortex-shaped spatial rift sealed shut behind him.
All the soldiers of the Teran race were highly disciplined; they immediately erased every trace of their presence, and under the cover of night, they left the town to return to the battlecruisers waiting for them in orbit outside the planet, withdrawing from Boru Star.
The next morning, when the town residents awoke, they were astonished to find the street utterly deserted. The neighborhood that had clearly been inhabited the day before was now silent. Recalling the old rumors about Ghost Street, the area instantly seemed even more haunted in the eyes of the townsfolk.
Over the next few days, large numbers of residents moved away, spreading tales of what had happened on that street.
And so, the legend gradually circulated: Ghost Street was haunted, a group of evil wizards from elsewhere attempted to control the ghosts, ultimately failed, and were all consumed by the spirits. This tale became widely known. Centuries later, this very Ghost Street became a famous tourist attraction.
Returning to the narrative, Dao Feng, Landon, and Baibai emerged from the other side of the wormhole, arriving back at Manor City in the Solar System. After leaving Landon and Baibai there, Dao Feng shimmered, vanishing in a burst of electrical light.
Next, he appeared on the battlefield outside the mining planet.
The warships of both sides were locked in combat. Kustar fighters and the upgraded Seventh Generation Ghost fighters were entangled, with the Ghosts clearly holding the advantage.
Also present on the battlefield were numerous Viking fighters. These were a new type of aircraft developed by the Research Institute under Yang Ying’s commission after observing the Imperial Mech Corps. They possessed both fighter jet and mecha forms, capable of adapting to various combat environments, showing remarkable combat power and versatility.
Of course, such powerful performance demanded equally formidable pilots to unleash their full potential. Currently, the Viking pilots were all awakened clones who had consumed top-tier gene stimulation agents. In their hands, the Viking fighters moved with incredible agility, holding their own even against the majority of the Kustar fighters.
Dao Feng turned his High-Grade Spiritual Sight toward the Kustar fleet. The mental fluctuations of every Kustar person materialized in his vision. He quickly located two acquaintances: Longge and Sa’an.
The commanders, the main and vice-commanders of the Kustar fleet, were frowning as they watched the battle, finding the situation in space highly unexpected. The combat strength of the Teran Mercenary Group’s fleet far exceeded their expectations.
Not only did they possess main cannons that fired crimson beams with an energy level reaching the Eighth Tier, but their ship defenses also matched the general standard of Kustar warships. Furthermore, they were equipped with numerous Seventh Tier main cannons that caused them considerable trouble.
Not to mention the fighters—the Kustar fighters were at a performance disadvantage against the Teran Mercenary Group’s aircraft, much to the displeasure of the Kustar, a race renowned for mastering the science of war machines.
Longge said with a cold expression, “Deploy all reserves! We must suppress their offensive!”
“Yes!” replied a staff officer.
“I’m going too!” Sa’an shouted. “I refuse to believe we can’t break this stalemate!”
“Good,” Longge nodded.
At that moment, a crushing pressure descended upon the Kustar flagship. A voice, as if emanating from the celestial courts, boomed: “Stay where you are.”
The sound was earth-shattering, capable of forcibly ripping a soul from the body.
“A Fourth Level entity!” Longge’s heart turned cold. He was keenly aware of the immense power possessed by his teacher, Kalagunes. This voice clearly belonged to a Fourth Level being, and before such a power, the two of them, peak Third Level practitioners, were as fragile as infants.
“Who are you?” Longge scanned his surroundings and shouted loudly.
“Longge, you actually don’t recognize me?” The voice came from directly behind Longge. Longge and Sa’an spun around instantly. Five meters away, Dao Feng was suspended in the air, his feet slightly off the ground, looking down at them as if they were ants.
Because of the seven days of the national holiday, Diamond has been sleeping quite late, making him drowsy all day. Please allow him to sleep early today; there will only be one chapter. The second chapter will be made up tomorrow, and there will be another one following that. Regarding the technology of the Sarnega, please look forward to it, and I thank all the readers who supported me during these seven days. You are my driving force; thank you.
