The Invisible Man’s Ugly Form and Yang Ying’s Invisibility Technique were not his! Down. He was already extremely surprised. But Xian Qi tightened his grip, even concealing the golden sword light, becoming even more vigilant. After a bout of sparring, the Invisible Man clearly understood how troublesome Yang Ying was—not only was his psychic power profound, but his swordsmanship was growing stronger. Though initially unaccustomed to Yang Ying’s fighting style, he had quickly caught up, and now Yang Ying was subtly restraining the variations in his swordsmanship, making his movements increasingly difficult. The fact that he had vanished completely now must mean a conspiracy!
Suddenly, a sharp sense of oppression washed over him. The Invisible Man immediately raised his light blade to parry.
CRASH!!
With a deafening sound, waves of air scattered. Yang Ying shoved the Invisible Man backward, sending him crashing through wall after wall. It took considerable effort for the Invisible Man to finally dissipate the force.
“Invisible Light Sword!”
This was the first time the Invisible Man spoke, using a language Yang Ying did not understand. Of course, Yang Ying could roughly guess his meaning; the Invisible Light Sword Yang Ying wielded was likely the divine weapon the opponent craved! After all, for someone who practiced Invisibility Arts, if they could achieve complete stealth, who would bother brandishing a golden light sword in public?
“Where did you get this power in your hand? Tell me the source, or perhaps sell me your light sword; name your price!” While continually deflecting Yang Ying’s attacks, the Invisible Man tried to bargain for Yang Ying’s weapon. Seeing Yang Ying didn't understand, he tried several other languages, cycling through the five major universal languages of the Mercenary Guild, yet Yang Ying offered not a single response.
In truth, when the Invisible Man switched to Kustar, Yang Ying finally understood. The ape language of the Ancient Legion derived from Kustar, making it simple for Yang Ying to learn. But why should he cater to the Invisible Man’s demands? Not long ago, the Invisible Man had intended to eliminate everyone talking in that private room.
“This is a misunderstanding. My target isn’t you; it’s those Flin people!” The Invisible Man repeated this statement in the five major universal languages, certain that Yang Ying understood at least one of them.
But Yang Ying’s response was his second Invisible Light Sword. Yang Ying dual-wielded, unleashing the full breadth of the Dark Templar lineage’s swordsmanship. Blocking left and thrusting right, parrying right and piercing left—his twin swords moved fluidly, aiming directly for the Invisible Man’s exposed weak points.
Anything in the path of the blades—tables, chairs, miscellaneous objects—was sliced in half, or even into multiple pieces. At the start of the fight, some figures could still be seen, but by now, everyone who could evacuate from the entire building had left. The two had fought through more than a dozen floors without seeing a single soul.
Yang Ying saw the Invisible Man’s swordplay growing clearer and clearer. Every time the Invisible Man struck, Yang Ying immediately exploited the weakness, forcing him to change his move before he could finish a single technique. After dozens of exchanges, the Invisible Man’s defensive perimeter was pushed to the limit; he could only parry, having absolutely no power to counterattack.
Seeing the time was right, Yang Ying unleashed three successive strikes. His right hand thrust toward the Invisible Man’s lower body, which the opponent blocked with his sword. His left hand then slashed toward the Invisible Man’s neck and head. The Invisible Man stepped back half a pace, swinging his sword to retaliate and parry again. But Yang Ying followed immediately with a rising upward slash from his right hand, intending to cleave the Invisible Man in two.
Suddenly, Yang Ying felt a warning sign, yet he ignored it, driving his right light sword straight ahead. With a Zzz sound, his plasma shield deflected a beam of light as dazzling as the sun. However, the beam carried immense power that momentarily stunned Yang Ying, allowing the Invisible Man to break distance. He rotated his light sword back to block Yang Ying’s upward strike aimed low, retreated a few steps, and regained his composure.
“So that’s it. This Invisible Man also dual-wields, but he uses a sword in his right hand and a Sodium Ray Cannon in his left.”
When Yang Ying previously blocked his radiation beam, he sensed that the energy contained within far surpassed that of a standard laser pistol, reaching the destructive power of a Level Three Uranium Ray Cannon. The shot that had attacked him moments before was even at the level of a Level Four Uranium Ray Cannon—likely concentrated energy. Even blocking it with a light sword had caused some disruption.
After retreating, the Invisible Man paused his attack for a moment. Seeing his swordsmanship completely seen through, his shock was immeasurable. He had barely managed to break free by using his ultimate, hidden move. Yang Ying’s swordsmanship surpassed his, and he even had a plasma shield for defense. The Invisible Man realized that killing Yang Ying was simply a pipe dream.
Yang Ying noticed a flicker of retreat in his opponent but had no intention of letting him go. He instantly flashed forward. Though angered, the Invisible Man refused to continue fighting a losing battle and immediately sliced open the outer wall of the building, bursting out.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Yang Ying followed him out of the building, his figure flashing rapidly in the air. Simultaneously, he gripped his right sword hilt and pointed, unleashing a bolt of lightning from his fingertips. The Invisible Man held his light step [presumably 'light sword' or a similar term] behind him, blocking the lightning and even using the momentum to accelerate his escape.
At the same time, the Invisible Man continuously fired his drilling ray cannon at Yang Ying, attempting to impede his attack. The chase spanned several thousand meters quickly, the hunter and the hunted flying through the air.
“Who are you?” Yang Ying shouted while airborne.
“I take money to solve problems. What else would I be?” The Invisible Man heard Yang Ying’s tongue [referring to a specific language, perhaps Kustar or an ancient dialect], and instead of anger, he felt great joy. He was afraid Yang Ying would refuse to speak, making it impossible for him to learn the source of the Invisible Light Sword. As long as Yang Ying spoke to him, he felt hope of acquiring an Invisible Light Step [again, likely 'sword' or a related item]. “Tell me the origin of your light sword, and I’ll tell you who I am, and I’ll even abandon this mission. How about that?”
“Heh heh, dreaming too sweetly,” Yang Ying sneered. “Who do you think you are, a vanquished foe, daring to negotiate terms? Utter delusion! If you won't speak, I’ll make you speak!”
As he spoke, Yang Ying rapidly closed the distance to the Invisible Man’s back. They were not far apart to begin with, and Yang Ying’s superior psychic power gave him an edge in speed. Despite the Invisible Man using every means to obstruct him, Yang Ying gradually gained ground.
The two landed almost simultaneously on the roof of another building.
“Stop right there! Great Vortex!” Yang Ying willed it, and the entire rooftop was enveloped in deep crimson light. The Invisible Man had no choice but to swing his sword, hacking at the encroaching energy of the Great Vortex. He could sense that if he were caught by the Great Vortex spell, he would be in deep trouble.
His need to defend slowed the Invisible Man’s movements. Yang Ying seized the opportunity, stepping forward and thrusting with his raised right sword, his momentum like a rainbow. The Invisible Man raged internally, “If I could just widen the gap, he wouldn’t be able to sense my presence, and I could escape safely. I didn’t expect him to keep up so closely!” He instantly turned and fired a chain-shot light beam toward Yang Ying.
Yang Ying blocked the beam with his left sword, and due to his preparedness, his speed did not slow at all. He continued his thrust with his right sword toward the Invisible Man, while simultaneously flicking his left fingers, emitting a silent Feedback spell.
The Invisible Man blocked the feedback spell with his sword. Though he didn't know what it was, he felt an extremely terrifying premonition—more dangerous than the Great Vortex from before!
“What a bizarre spell. I shouldn’t have provoked him. It’s all because the intelligence was terribly inaccurate—they never mentioned such a peak Level Three expert would be near Princess Haffen, and his psychic power is even deeper than mine. When I teleported the high-energy bomb in, I happened to be too far from that hotel room, so I couldn’t clearly assess this person's strength. I naively assumed that fat pig, Burk, a Level Three, was the leader of their group. What carelessness!” The Invisible Man struggled to defend on both sides, having completely fallen into the defensive.
After a few more exchanges, the Invisible Man feigned a weakness. Willing to take some injury, he was stabbed in the abdomen by Yang Ying, but he used the moment to encompass Yang Ying and escape once more. A Level Three expert’s body was transcendent, let alone a peak Level Three. Although the injury looked severe, it would not threaten his life.
Yang Ying chased further and further, gradually leaving the boundaries of Veda City and entering a small valley outside the city. After inflicting two more wounds on the Invisible Man, the latter abandoned all hope of acquiring the Invisible Light Sword from Yang Ying. Clearly, if he could escape with his life this time, it would be a tremendous achievement; asking for more would likely result in his utter annihilation.
Shortly after entering the small valley, Yang Ying suddenly felt the hair on his scalp tingle. He heard a whistling sound from the sky—a silver fighter jet was flying toward him! This fighter jet seemed intelligent; upon arrival, it unleashed a relentless barrage of uranium rays at Yang Ying. The Invisible Man took the opportunity to rush toward the jet. The cockpit immediately opened, warmly welcoming its master’s return.
Yang Ying looked up and saw five or six more fighter jets following the silver jet, constantly firing upon it. Judging by their formation, those five or six jets were all piloted by Level Three experts!
“This Invisible Man actually prepared an intelligent fighter escort?” Yang Ying instantly retreated several thousand meters, watching the fighter jets ascend and fly away from the planet. He thought to himself, “Chasing down another peak Level Three while I am only Level Three is indeed not easy. Now that so many disruptors have arrived, I will let you go for now. You tried to bomb me and failed to scratch my skin, but I managed to take two of your fingers and half a liver. If you dare provoke me again, I will ensure your demise by my hand!”
The silver jet was extremely fast and soon vanished from sight, followed closely by the five or six jets that also quickly disappeared. Yang Ying naturally did not linger. He turned and headed back toward Veda City.
On the way, Yang Ying contacted Warren Gas via communicator. He learned that Warren Gas had returned to the Behemoth, sending the damaged object for repair. He also inquired about Princess Haffen and her entourage.
Warren Gas replied, “They are still at the hotel where the incident occurred. Their room is booked there, and they plan to leave Veda tonight, so they have no intention of changing hotels. Amusingly, the hotel staff, unaware they were the cause of the trouble, even waived all their accommodation fees. One more thing: before leaving Veda, they wish to meet with you one more time.”
“Hmm, then I will meet them one more time.” Yang Ying paused, looking up at the direction where the silver jet had vanished, flashed, and disappeared from his spot.
