Dongzi, in modern times, was a boor, and in the past, before his reincarnation, he was also a straightforward man, utterly devoid of cunning. The only word to describe his way of doing things was speed; if it worked, fine; if not, drop it.

Traveling south, Dongzi felt a strange impediment in his heart. In this massive capital city, he was wandering aimlessly. Where should he find a pharmacy to ask? As he walked, dusk was settling, and the passersby were hurrying their steps. Even the small vendors were preparing to pack up their stalls. The more Dongzi saw, the more anxious he became.

"Hey, old man, where can I buy medicine?" Dongzi asked, unable to contain his urgency.

The person preparing to pack up was a scholar selling calligraphy and paintings. Seeing Dongzi’s blunt manner of speaking, he immediately knew he was a coarse fellow. The scholar then replied in a stylized, bookish tone, "You seem to value swiftness above all else. Perhaps you should try the establishment ahead, take a right turn there. Their business is booming, and the medicine they sell is quite affordable, perfectly suited for someone like you who prizes speed."

Dongzi listened. Although the words felt odd, he also sensed a veiled insult. Yet, he couldn't deny that what the man said was true—he did value speed in his actions, and there was nothing inherently wrong with that. Since he was told to turn right, he would go right and see.

Dongzi shot the scholar a fierce glare, which thoroughly frightened the man.

"Fierce light in your eyes, may a sow drop dead!" the scholar muttered, shaking his head as he packed up his stall. Slinging a basket over his shoulder, he began to follow Dongzi toward the pharmacy.

Hearing the scholar's strange curse, Dongzi continued southward until he reached a crossroad. He glanced around and noticed the scholar trailing behind him, walking slowly. Dongzi found this amusing. "Hey, I said, hurry up!"

"The way of the scholar is slow, and steady!"

"Enough with the fancy talk, is this the way?"

"It is!"

"Finally, you said something normal. It took some effort!" Dongzi walked along the road, looking around. After only a few steps, he spotted a shop with the character for medicine hanging at the entrance. Dongzi smiled. This scholar seemed simple-minded, but at least he hadn't misled him. If he had, Dongzi would have turned back to catch him and give him a beating.

Dongzi reached the pharmacy door just as someone was about to close it. He grabbed the latch of the young apprentice trying to shut it. "Young man, urgent illness, need medicine quickly, don't close up!"

"Esteemed guest, we don't have much medicine left in the shop. You say you're urgent, but can't you wait a day or two? Can't you hold it in for a few more days?" The apprentice spoke this way, but Dongzi didn't understand; it seemed the apprentice wasn't responding to what he actually needed.

Dongzi grew agitated. "Just tell me if you have medicine or not. I'll pay double the price!"

"Forget it. Don't you know the rules here? The customers who came before you were offered fifteen times the price, and I didn't sell a thing. Hmph, double your price? Are you kidding me? Alright, stop wasting time. A grown man can hold it in for one night!" With that, the apprentice slammed one of the doors shut.

Dongzi promptly delivered a solid kick to the door. The wood shuddered under the force, and the door flew open. Dongzi then demanded, "Hey buddy, you're quite the chatterbox. I asked if you have medicinal herbs. You said you don't have much and then said you don't want to sell. What exactly do you mean by that?"

Seeing Dongzi enraged, the apprentice dared not provoke him further and softened his tone. "Esteemed elder brother, we're out of Aphrodisiac Powder today. You say you have plans tonight, so just manage until tomorrow. Why must it be tonight? Besides, if you keep this up, your body won't be able to take it!"

"What? Aphrodisiac Powder? What is that?" Dongzi was extremely surprised.

"Oh, esteemed guest, don't play coy with me. Everyone who comes here knows we specialize in gynecological remedies. Since there have been fewer women's ailments recently, we switched to selling medicinal powders. The best seller lately is this Aphrodisiac Powder. Heh heh, let me tell you, if you use just one packet, I guarantee you’ll have a thoroughly enjoyable night with your woman." The apprentice described his pharmacy's business focus, and his demeanor looked quite convincing.

Hearing this, Dongzi instantly boiled with fury. He felt the scholar had been mocking him, and simultaneously felt a profound humiliation here. Thus, he exploded in rage, breathing fire, and launched a fierce kick at the other pharmacy door, sending it crashing down with a boom.

"Esteemed guest, what is this?"

Dongzi glared viciously at the boy. "You son of a bitch, tell me where else sells medicinal herbs, the full inventory!" As he spoke, Dongzi grabbed the collar of the apprentice's round-necked garment tightly.

The apprentice smiled and said, "Esteemed guest, walk behind you, all the way to the end of the street. You'll see a large warehouse area; that's the wholesale place for medicinal herbs. There should still be people there at this hour. If you need any medicine, go there."

Dongzi gave a cursory glance toward the end of the street. Indeed, many people were moving in and out, and there seemed to be a large gate where numerous carts laden with goods were being pushed in and out.

Dongzi now believed the apprentice. In a few strides, he ran to the end of the street. Seeing the crowd entering and exiting, Dongzi entered the large courtyard. He saw a man standing in the center of the yard, counting inventory, head down, eyes refusing to look up.

"Esteemed sir, do you sell medicine here?" Dongzi asked.

The man counting the goods continued to count, completely ignoring Dongzi.

Dongzi patiently called out a second time, but still received no reply. Immediately, Dongzi became enraged and bellowed, "Hey, you counting! What are you pretending not to hear? I'm calling you a bastard, pretending not to hear me, is that it!" Dongzi flared up, quickly bundled his queue, and delivered a flying kick that sent the counter tumbling backward, rolling dozens of times on the ground.

When the counter finally scrambled to his feet, he approached Dongzi, saying, "Brother, do you know how much longer I'll have to work now because of that one kick?" The man’s eyes were practically brimming with tears; he looked truly distressed.

Dongzi, seeing this, suddenly felt uneasy. He didn't understand what game this fellow was playing—why would a single kick result in more work?

"Brother, if you had something urgent, you could have waited for me for ten minutes or so. But you, with one kick, you made me forget all the counts I did this entire morning." The man grew more agitated the more he spoke, and the tears in his manly eyes became harder to hold back.

Seeing this, Dongzi immediately felt he had gone too far. He quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, Master. I was somewhat reckless. How about I help you count for a while later?"

The man heard this and thought it was wonderful. If someone helped him count, he could finish sooner—wouldn't that be a harmonious outcome?

"Alright then. Tell me where you are from, and why you've come here?"

"You know I didn't come here to work?" Dongzi asked deliberately.

The clerk then replied, "Of course I know. Seeing your unfamiliar face, I was certain you must be here to deal in medicinal herbs, right?"

"Exactly. I wonder if you have a medicinal herb called Wanghong Flower here?"

"What? You dare to ask for this medicine?"

"What's wrong? Is this medicine very expensive? I can pay for it!" Dongzi pressed on.

The foreman tossed the bag of herbs in front of him, which was full of medicinal stock. The apprentice then said, "Esteemed elder brother, this entire bag is Safflower. This so-called Wanghong Flower is what grows when you discard the withered branches and leaves of Safflower and place the stalks in water; the one that grows tall stalks the next day is the Wanghong Flower. This flower is specifically used to treat blood stagnation. However, no matter what other herbs it's paired with, this flower must be eaten raw, and only thirty minutes after consuming it can you take other medicines."

"What do you mean by that?" Dongzi pressed.

The foreman sighed. "Ah, I truly give up on you. Here!" With that, the foreman handed a handful of Safflower to Dongzi. "Take this back and soak it; you can use it tomorrow morning. If you run out, come back tomorrow and buy ten or twenty more packets; it's not expensive, just the price of cabbage."

"This... will it work?"

"Didn't you ask for Wanghong Flower?"

"Yes, otherwise, why don't you stay here with me tonight, brother? You keep me company until the flower sprouts, and then I'll leave!" Otherwise, I won't be able to rest easy tonight.
