Yet Dongzi was a strange specimen; when he entered the warehouse, he hadn't noticed the bar of soap at all, and what stunned everyone else was that the soap just placed there was now completely mashed into a muddy pulp under his feet.

Instantly, the two troublemakers were thoroughly subdued by Dongzi. They huddled together, wondering if they should still try to mess with him, but finally concluded:

“Forget it. Since this simpleton happily complies with anything we ask, there’s no point in tormenting him.” This was the conclusion the two scoundrels reached, giving up with a sigh after glancing back at Dongzi.

As for Dongzi, he was quite cheerful after a day of hard work; at least he wasn't idle. As he was leaving, he even managed a farewell greeting to the two hostile men who ignored everyone else.

Everyone else knew Dongzi was new, but the fact that the newcomer hadn't been picked on led to widespread murmuring. The manager who handled Dongzi’s registration gathered his staff after work to discuss him: “When he came here to fill out forms, I asked him about his background. Apparently, he’s associated with Master Zhou from Fushoutang.”

“No wonder he’s so formidable. Those two brutes couldn’t touch him—it turns out Dongzi has some kind of magic!”

“Maybe not. It’s very possible Dongzi has other tricks up his sleeve. Look how he works; he doesn’t seem tired at all, just keeps toiling away.”

It was just a few old gossips clacking away about someone else, as always unconnected to their own lives.

The next day, Dongzi arrived early for work. This time, Dongzi had put on clean clothes. When asked why, Dongzi actually replied, “My strength has grown. I’m trying to work without touching my clothes to see if my strength will grow even more.”

This answer greatly surprised everyone. Frankly, the people in the shop were beginning to understand Dongzi less and less.

Just then, a promotional saleswoman rushed over to Dongzi. She had a piece of paper taped over her right eyelid. Seeing Dongzi, she called out, “Dongzi, hurry up! I need you for something!”

Dongzi was puzzled about why she needed him, so he ambled over to the person calling him.

“Dongzi, hehe, my name is Yu Jing; you can just call me Xiao Jing.”

“Oh, I see. Is this what you needed me for?” Dongzi scratched his head, thinking everyone here was strange.

Xiao Jing flashed a grin and leaned close to Dongzi’s ear. “Dongzi, I know you’re from Fushoutang. Is Master Zhou Huan very powerful?”

When Dongzi heard about his own brother, he immediately became enthusiastic. He puffed out his chest and threw up a thumb. “Of course! Our Fushoutang is almost going global.”

“That’s great. I wanted to ask you something.” Xiao Jing watched Dongzi’s eyes carefully; she was afraid that if Dongzi refused to tell her, she would just leave. But seeing his continued enthusiasm, she continued, “My right eyelid has been twitching all morning, and it’s the right one. Can you tell me if it means good or bad luck? I can’t quite figure it out. Sister Sun told me to tape a piece of paper over it. Look at what I’ve done…”

Dongzi chuckled. “What good does that do? Left eye twitching means wealth, right eye twitching means disaster. But you’re a woman, so the opposite applies to your right eye—it means wealth. Take that paper off; you’re definitely going to have some luck with money soon.”

“Haha, Dongzi, stop fooling the young lady! Someone like you can actually tell if someone’s going to have wealth or disaster?” The foreman suddenly appeared from nowhere, as if he’d been listening to Dongzi and Xiao Jing the whole time.

Hearing this, Dongzi was momentarily taken aback. Master Zhou Huan often brought these matters up in front of Dongzi, but now that it was his turn to apply the knowledge, he realized he wasn't entirely sure—he had no solid ground on whether what he said was correct, and Dongzi felt a slight hesitation.

But Xiao Jing didn't care what Dongzi thought. As soon as she heard she had good fortune coming, anyone would cling to that statement. She immediately peeled the paper off her eyelid and turned back to Dongzi, saying, “If I really have good luck, I’ll treat you to dinner!”

“Oh, okay, okay!” Dongzi replied hesitantly.

The foreman stood on the steps with his hands clasped behind his back, staring intently at Dongzi, muttering continuously, “If Xiao Jing says tomorrow that she had good luck and treats you to dinner, I’ll call you boss. Hmph.”

Dongzi paid no mind to the foreman’s silly mumbling. In Dongzi’s eyes, the foreman was the big fool, and the driver was the little fool.

In truth, Dongzi had just been blowing smoke at Xiao Jing; he didn’t really know if that eyelid twitch had any predictive power.

After lunch, Xiao Jing came bouncing over to Dongzi, delighted. “Brother Dong, you really are my Brother Dong! What you said was spot on. If I hadn't taken that paper off, I wouldn't have gotten this two thousand yuan today.”

“Huh? What two thousand yuan? Did you find it?” Dongzi asked.

“No way! Right after lunch, I went to the lottery stand in the square and bought some scratch-offs. You said I had good luck, and it’s bizarrely true—I scratched one and won a thousand, then scratched another and won another thousand! I’m treating you to dinner tonight; we’re going to eat somewhere nice.” Xiao Jing rattled off this flurry of words, leaving Dongzi completely stunned. Xiao Jing’s sudden outburst was something nobody could handle.

Dongzi pondered for a moment, then suddenly remembered what the foreman had said that morning. He whipped around to face the foreman. “Hey, buddy, didn’t you say you were going to acknowledge me as your boss?”

Although the foreman was a bad sort, he generally kept his word. He had held back for a long time. He was older than Dongzi, yet now he had to call Dongzi boss—it felt very awkward. But reluctantly, he opened his mouth and called out, “Boss!”

But what the foreman hadn't expected was that Dongzi had somehow moved behind him and playfully tapped the top of the foreman’s head. “Little brother, Big Brother will look out for you from now on. If you have any trouble, just tell Big Brother!”

At that moment, the driver came up to the foreman. “Brother, why are we calling him boss?”

“What else? We made a bet, and we have to honor the wager.”

From behind, Dongzi pointed at the driver. “Look at your brother; see how discerning, how well-mannered, how ethical he is? It’s no big deal to call someone Big Brother, you don’t lose a pound of flesh. Since you’re calling him Big Brother, and I’m his Big Brother, then that settles it—from now on, you two are both my little brothers.”

“Hee hee hee!” Several employees who disliked the two toughs overhead heard the exchange between Dongzi and the pair. Seeing the two bullies speechless under Dongzi’s words, they couldn't help but burst into gleeful laughter.

Seeing everyone laughing at them, the two scoundrels felt they had to save face. They spun around and smacked Dongzi on the back of the head—though not very hard. The foreman resumed his authoritative tone: “Dongzi, get back to work! I don’t have time to mess around with you!”

It was well known that Dongzi hated having his head tapped the most. Only Zhou Huan tapping him was acceptable; if anyone else did it, the consequences could be disastrous. But today, some idiot actually raised his hand and struck Dongzi on the head.

This time, Dongzi was genuinely enraged, his entire fury swelling up instantly: “Do you two want your right eyelids to twitch? Let me tell you, when a man’s right eyelid twitches, bad luck is coming!”

“What are you going to do, fight? I’m telling you—” Before the foreman could finish speaking, everything went dark before his eyes. The sputtering man tumbled down three or four steps onto the storage yard. He felt his face and found a large footprint stretched across it.

The driver started to reach for a light, but Dongzi gave him no chance. He leaped up, delivering a flying kick to the driver’s shoulder, sending the driver tumbling backward onto the ground.

Dongzi stood in the middle of the yard with his hands on his hips. “You two, did you call me Big Brother or not? You lost the bet and still won’t submit?”

The two thugs were truly spineless now, reduced to nothing. Dongzi had subdued them completely with just two moves.

“Big Brother, Big Brother! From now on, you run this back storage yard. We’ll never dare say another word to you again!” The two knelt on the ground, begging Dongzi for mercy.

When they looked up at Dongzi again, he was already carrying boxes and loading them onto the truck by himself.

The two scoundrels were dumbfounded. Seeing how things stood, they realized they couldn't just stand there, so they immediately rushed to Dongzi’s side to help move the cargo.

Suddenly, the foreman stammered, his voice trembling, “Brother Dong, you’re not going to hit me again, are you?”

“Why would I hit you? Didn’t I just teach you a lesson?”

“My right eyelid is twitching again. I’m afraid that you…” The foreman, having been subdued by Dongzi’s kick, kept his eyes glued to Dongzi’s expression, ready to bolt if things went sour.
