Yang Ying was quite certain that everything in the universe possessed a limit; transgressing that boundary invited negative consequences. Thus, before the time was ripe, he had no intention of popularizing the invisibility technology. However, employing stealth under the guise of mental power equipment, given the limited audience, would likely not result in many lingering problems.
Kordemi's pent-up rage had fully erupted. His vision was fixed solely on Daofeng. He concentrated all his spirit onto Daofeng, inadvertently lowering his vigilance toward his surroundings more than usual. He unleashed his Scatter-Shot Cannon in rapid succession, waves of light raining down that narrowly missed scraping past Daofeng.
Yang Ying approached Kordemi’s fighter jet from above, deploying his own cloaked floating cannons. He aimed half of his Lock-On Cannon muzzles toward Kordemi’s cockpit and the surrounding airspace, then, with a mere thought, they burst forth in a sudden barrage!
The moment Yang Ying’s spirit locked onto him, Kordemi’s internal alarms shrieked. He felt a terrifying killing intent pressing in from the void, as if the gates of the death world were about to swing open for him in the next instant.
Ignoring Daofeng's continued assault, he unleashed a torrent of master-level psychic power, instantly enveloping his entire fighter jet and blinking it twenty meters away.
Almost simultaneously, over eighty beams of light appeared as if born from nothingness, piercing the space where his jet had just vanished from multiple directions. The beams intersected and overlapped, forming a vast, three-dimensional net of light that was both expansive and inescapable.
Then, in a flash of electric light and sparks—
“Where did that attack come from? Where is the enemy?” Kordemi glanced at his radar, but the screen was utterly empty. He couldn't spot any barrels from which the beams originated, making the assault seem as if it had materialized from thin air.
Confirming the enemy was absent from his screen, Kordemi immediately grasped that the foe was using invisibility—a capability that was supposed to be his own fighter’s signature trick. How could he have overlooked this possibility?
It took only an instant for Kordemi to realize the enemy was cloaked. A normal person couldn't even form a single coherent thought in that time, but a master-level expert could thoroughly process the situation.
Simultaneously, within that same instant, Kordemi felt that terrifying sensation of impending death again, and it hadn't lessened; in fact, it had grown stronger.
Yang Ying knew well that a master’s precognitive ability transcended time. Even if an attack launched from invisibility provided a significant initial advantage, it could not guarantee a one-hit kill against a master. Thus, the true purpose of firing half his Lock-On Cannons was precisely to force Kordemi to use his blink ability.
A master’s body and spirit are transcendent. There are no accidents surrounding them; any master can foresee the slightest flaw in the timeline’s trajectory and evade any attack that is evadable.
To achieve a one-hit kill on a master, one would require absolute power that cannot be dodged, like a nuclear bomb. However, masters can foresee the threat of a nuclear bomb and would need to be maneuvered into its blast radius first.
In summary, killing a master is exceedingly difficult.
But this time, to ensure Kordemi’s permanent demise and eliminate a future threat, Yang Ying had made thorough preparations. The first public deployment of the mental power equipment was specifically for this strike.
When Kordemi blinked away, what awaited him was the real attack. Yang Ying redirected the remaining half of his Lock-On Cannons, aiming them at the pale yellow jet that had just materialized, while Daofeng simultaneously swiveled its nine floating cannons to bear down on Kordemi as well.
Regardless of whether they are masters or not, anyone using blink requires a recovery period—like needing to pull a fist back after a punch before launching the next. This is unavoidable. A master-level expert can shorten this recovery time to a negligible degree, but they cannot eliminate it entirely.
Especially since Kordemi had blinked with his entire fighter jet, requiring even more recovery time. This moment was precisely that juncture where the old force had dissipated, and the new force had yet to be generated.
Tzzz Tzzz
The firing rate of the Lock-On Cannons was slightly faster for the avatar Daofeng than for the primary body, Yang Ying. Daofeng had already transformed into its Emperor form, while Yang Ying remained in his human body, resulting in a difference in combat instinct and timing.
However, this did not affect the dense web formed by the floating cannons’ beams, which enveloped the pale yellow fighter jet from all directions.
Just as the overwhelming barrage erupted, Kordemi’s eyes snapped open inside the cockpit, turning blood-red. Blood seemed to seep from the pores on his face as a massive surge of psychic power poured out, forcefully enveloping the pale yellow fighter jet for another blink!
The floating cannons discharged over two hundred beams, even denser than the previous wave, crisscrossing in the tiny space of less than a meter in diameter to form a cage of light with minuscule gaps. The center of the cage was a tangled mess, leaving virtually no empty space—but the pale yellow jet was no longer inside.
Yang Ying frowned, then relaxed. Kordemi rapidly recovering and blinking again was slightly unexpected, but he immediately deduced that Kordemi must have used a self-damaging move to force the recovery and momentarily stave off the crisis. However, such a tactic could only be used once; Kordemi would be significantly injured, and another attempt would yield no effect.
Yang Ying and Daofeng checked the status of the floating cannons. Seeing that all Lock-On Cannons were recharging, even though the half used in Yang Ying's first wave was nearly fully charged, there was still a half-second window where only conventional weapons were usable. In a contest between master-level experts, half a second afforded ample opportunity.
As Kordemi finished blinking, utilizing those two quick transitions to evade the conventional Lock-On Cannon fire, he unleashed his Scatter-Shot Cannon at full power, splitting the hundred-plus beams into two volleys aimed at Yang Ying and Daofeng, respectively. Kordemi couldn't see Yang Ying, so the beams targeting him posed little threat, but the beams directed at Daofeng were uncannily accurate, seemingly benefiting from the enhancement the self-inflicted injury provided to his erupted psychic power.
Yang Ying and Daofeng had held the initiative, but the sudden silence from the floating cannons allowed Kordemi to seize the advantage with his full-power salvo, instantly turning the tide. As he fired, he roared in his cockpit, “Two despicable wretches, now it’s my turn!”
However, Daofeng enveloped its jet with psychic power and blinked away the instant Kordemi fired, simultaneously activating its cloaking system and vanishing from Kordemi’s sight.
With both ghost fighters cloaked, Kordemi instantly lost all trace of his enemies. Lacking radar confirmation and visual sight, even with intense concentration, Kordemi could not discern the precise location of either craft.
The situation on the field instantly reverted to being controlled by Yang Ying and Daofeng.
Yang Ying felt a jolt, musing, The floating cannons can’t fire again while recharging after a full volley—it’s similar to a recovery period. Firing everything exposed a vulnerability. I’ve learned a lesson today: future full barrages must be used cautiously. When battling masters, it's best to always keep a small portion of firepower ready for contingencies.
In his previous encounters with master-level experts, either their psychic weapons failed, leaving them reliant on conventional weapons and defensively positioned, or, as in the case with Mika, while his fighter was intact, Yang Ying had deployed six clones for a ceaseless, gap-free assault. Therefore, he had never noticed the vacuum created immediately following a full-power volley.
Just then, the half-second passed, and the Lock-On Cannons used in Yang Ying’s first attack were fully recharged.
Continuous beams once again formed an overwhelming net of light, enveloping Kordemi. As more Lock-On Cannons finished charging, the area covered by the beams grew wider and denser.
Tzzz BOOM
The nose of the pale yellow fighter was struck by a beam, melting the outer armor and some internal wiring, just a hair's breadth from Kordemi’s cockpit.
Kordemi could only wildly counterattack with his Scatter-Shot Cannon, with predictable results. He watched the rain of light from his scatter-shots futilely spray toward where the enemy beams originated, achieving nothing, which drove him into a fury.
“Damn it! My cloak was pierced twice before, leaving me reliant on conventional weapons and taking the hits. This time, although I have the Scatter-Shot Cannon, these two despicable humans have cloaked themselves, rendering my attacks harmless! Am I their nemesis? Wait! The injuries are taking hold—should I retreat?”
The psychic burst derived from his self-injury was rapidly diminishing with time. In just a few seconds, it had dropped to a dangerous level. He felt his injuries impeding his movements. Though reluctant to suffer another setback against a quasi-master human, delaying further meant he wouldn't be able to leave at all. He finally made up his mind: retreat!
On the other side, Yang Ying frowned. His tactic of gaining the upper hand through cloaked surprise had been countered by Kordemi’s self-injury. Now, if the fight devolved into a prolonged engagement, killing Kordemi would become exceedingly difficult.
Suddenly, the pale yellow jet whipped its tail, executing several sharp turns, weaving through the net of light as it bolted toward deep space.
“Trying to flee? You think you can escape my inescapable net? Even if hitting your jet is hard, trapping you is simple enough!”
Yang Ying and Daofeng commanded nearly three hundred Lock-On Cannons. Forcing Kordemi to change direction was far easier than hitting him. They only needed to weave a dense net of light directly in his flight path to block all avenues of escape.
Thinking of this, a brilliant idea flashed through Yang Ying’s mind. Right, I have this move too. It’s been ages since I used this since becoming a quasi-master. It’s perfect for this situation—perhaps fate demands you die today!
Yang Ying sent a pulse of psychic energy toward Kordemi’s direction while he and Daofeng worked together to encircle the maneuvering space of the pale yellow jet with their light net. He shouted, “Mind Storm!”
