From where Luo Wu stood, a few of Douglas's guards couldn't help but feel a surge of joy. They immediately scanned their surroundings for the little girl who looked lost, but after searching every corner, the figure who looked exactly like Robin remained nowhere in sight!
What was going on?
Doubt began to surface in Xia Luo's mind. Just as she was pondering, the guards arrived near them.
"Tia, you mustn't do this again. If you slip out without a word one more time, I’ll report it to your mother!" Douglas adopted a very serious and stern expression. Such an incident could only be forgiven once; there absolutely could not be a next time. Thank goodness the little princess had been found, or they really wouldn't have known what to do!
However, what struck him as extremely strange was that the little princess before him seemed not to see them at all, not even granting them a proper glance, and she paid absolutely no heed to his words!
What in the world was happening?
Douglas clearly sensed the anomaly in the little princess before him, yet he didn't overthink it, attributing it merely to her being angry at them for yesterday.
He quickly forced a smile, stooped down, and placed both hands on Robin’s small shoulders, his tone softening: "Don't do that again; your uncles were terribly worried. If—"
His words cut off abruptly because a chilling light suddenly flashed from Robin's eyes. Those eyes seemed capable of looking straight into a person's soul, instantly raising a wave of coldness in anyone who met them.
Douglas froze on the spot. This was the first time he had ever seen the little princess wear such an expression. It sent a strange tremor through him, and a profound sense of unease washed over his heart.
How could this be?
While he was still trying to puzzle out the reason, Robin finally spoke, her voice even colder than her gaze: "Take your hands off."
That simple command instantly dropped the atmosphere below freezing point!
Xia Luo, who had been wondering about these men's actions, gasped. She knew Robin well. If this middle-aged man didn't let go immediately, he probably wouldn't even know how he died.
Although Xia Luo was eager to see the expressions on these men's faces when they finally realized who Robin was, she didn't want to push things past the point of no return. More importantly, these men might be connected to Robin's past. So, she quickly slapped Douglas's hands away and gently pulled Robin slightly backward before saying, "Sir, I think you have the wrong person!"
Douglas was already puzzled why Xia Luo had slapped his hands away, and hearing her say this made him pause again.
Wrong person? How was that possible? I have followed the little princess for so many years; could I really be mistaken?
What exactly was going on? Was there some hidden secret involved?
"What exactly did you do to Tia?" A frigid glint shot out of Douglas's eyes as he stared intently at Xia Luo.
He had begun suspecting this woman yesterday. Why was she so warm towards the little princess? And now she appeared here, while the little princess's behavior was so utterly abnormal. This woman must have done something to the little princess!
The more he thought this way, the thicker the hostility in Douglas’s eyes grew. The entire shop instantly filled with thick, volatile tension!
However, Xia Luo didn't blame them. After all, she herself had once mistaken Tia for Robin. It was understandable that these men would mistake Robin for Tia!
With a faint smile, Xia Luo said, "You truly have the wrong person. Her name isn't Tia; her name is Robin, whom I mentioned yesterday."
Robin? Douglas blinked again. He did recall this woman mentioning that name yesterday, and she had even said that Tia looked very much like Robin!
But the little girl before him was clearly the little princess; there was absolutely no mistaking it. Even if her demeanor seemed vastly different from before, he was still certain!
This woman must have done something to the little princess to cause her to lose her senses!
"You're lying!" Douglas's eyes were now bloodshot. He would never let anyone who intended harm to the little princess off the hook, no matter who they were!
Instantly, the volatile atmosphere thickened further; a fight seemed poised to erupt at any second!
Xia Luo was nearly speechless. She thought to herself: I tried to help you good people, and instead of gratitude, you treat me like a child trafficker. If I were going to abduct someone, I certainly wouldn't dare abduct Robin!
What made Xia Luo even more exasperated was that even after all this, they still mistook Robin for that Tia. How were their eyes functioning?
No matter how cool Robin appeared, it was impossible for her to be the same person as the lively Tia. This could be sensed just from what Robin had just said!
"I am not lying. This really is not the Tia you are looking for!" Xia Luo could only explain again, while curiously asking, "Didn't that Tia from yesterday go back with you? Why isn't she with you now?"
Instead of getting angry, Douglas chuckled inwardly, thinking: She's here with you, so how could she be with us? "Let's go back!" At that moment, Robin's aloof voice sounded again, standing out sharply in the tense atmosphere.
Seeing that all the toys she intended to buy were acquired, and dealing with these big men making such a fuss, Xia Luo wanted to leave quickly—better to avoid trouble than seek it out.
"Stop!" Seeing the two of them preparing to leave, Douglas urgently commanded.
"What is it now?"
"Leave the person here!" Douglas emphasized each word deliberately.
Xia Luo was speechless again, thinking: Is this decision mine to make? Whether Robin stays or not is her business; I'm doing well just not interfering!
Xia Luo said nothing, instead glancing at Robin awkwardly, trying to ask for her opinion. But Robin completely ignored these men, continuing to walk toward the exit, her expression conveying, 'Do whatever you want!'
"Little Prin—" Tia!" Douglas almost let the slip of the tongue escape in his anxiety, and he instantly flashed forward, blocking Robin's path.
Robin stopped, looked up, and coldly fixed her eyes on Douglas, her exquisitely small mouth spitting out two icy words: "Move aside!"
How dare he block Robin’s way? He must be tired of living!
"Tia, don't you remember me? I am Uncle Douglas!" Douglas called out desperately, his expression suggesting he was on the verge of tears. What was the most bitter sorrow in the world other than having a loved one close at hand, yet they didn't know who you were!
Douglas had spent several years with the little princess and had long formed an unbreakable bond. Seeing the little princess like this now filled him with self-reproach and anguish!
Robin remained unmoved, her eyes still holding that cold light, fixed on them. After about thirty seconds, perhaps sensing that these men had no intention of moving, Robin slowly raised her pair of fair, tender little hands!
Douglas stared blankly at Robin, confused about the meaning of this gesture. Was she hinting something to them?
Just because they couldn't understand didn't mean Xia Luo couldn't. She knew Robin was about to attack. A sharp shock went through her, and she quickly called out, "Robin, wait a moment."
As she spoke, Xia Luo rapidly approached Robin, her expression tight with tension showing clearly on her face.
Before she could truly ascertain these men's identities, she didn't want Robin to clash with them. This was not just for Robin’s sake, but also for Zhong Shenxiu, who loved Robin dearly!
However, her warning was interpreted by Douglas and the others as interference. They thought: She comes out to stop the princess from telling us something? What is her motive? She must have ulterior motives, surely she’s afraid her scheme will be exposed!
We don't know what conspiracy you have, but since we brothers have found our way here, we absolutely won't allow you to harm another hair on the little princess's head!
Thinking this, Douglas signaled the other guards with his eyes. The others understood immediately and swiftly surrounded Xia Luo and Robin, giving off a clear "You are surrounded" vibe!
But at this moment, Xia Luo didn't have the mood to pay attention to them. Her heart was still suspended, because Robin's little hand had not yet dropped, and she could launch a thunderous strike at these men at any moment!
Robin's attacks were terrifying, and the consequences catastrophic. Although Xia Luo knew it would be difficult, she had to find a way to stop her.
"Robin, calm down. Don't fight here. Look at all these toys; it would be such a waste if they were destroyed. Niu Niu would be sad too if she found out!" Xia Luo said with a smile, her eyes fixed solely on Robin, completely ignoring the encirclement by Douglas and the rest.
Surprisingly, that sentence actually worked. Robin turned her head to glance at Xia Luo. Although her voice was calm, it wasn't as icy as before: "Then what should we do?"
Robin meant: These people are blocking the way; how can we get past without fighting!
Seeing a turning point, Xia Luo rejoiced inwardly and quickly said, "Robin, give me a little time. Let me handle this matter!"
Robin was silent for a few seconds, then finally nodded. And she lowered her hand.
Only then did Xia Luo let out a long sigh of relief. Although the tension had been immense just now, a sense of accomplishment bloomed within her, making her think: It seems I'm not any worse than Kaini!
As for Douglas and the others, they stared at Xia Luo blankly, wondering what trick this woman was up to, acting so humbly toward their little princess. Could this be another one of her schemes?
Thinking this, they couldn't help but increase their vigilance. They decided to see what tricks this woman could pull!
At this moment, Xia Luo felt much more relaxed because she had received Robin's agreement. Although she knew these guards harbored ill intentions toward her, Xia Luo wasn't worried at all. Setting aside the fact that her current strength alone was enough to handle these men, even if she encountered danger, Robin absolutely wouldn't stand idly by—she knew that much!
"Can we discuss this outside?" Xia Luo suggested.
Douglas considered it and realized this was indeed an inconvenient place. If a fight broke out, they might accidentally injure the little princess, so he agreed.
Once outside, they still dared not relax in the slightest, completely surrounding Xia Luo and Robin. But before Douglas could say anything, Xia Luo spoke first!
"Let me state again, this person is truly not the Tia you are looking for!" After a slight pause, Xia Luo added, "I can prove this to you!"
Prove it?
Douglas was stunned and couldn't help asking, "How can you prove it?"
