The sheer aura Kai Ni was emitting just now was so terrifying that it made him tremble from body to soul. This woman was absolutely not simple; he was deeply convinced of this.
A sense of foreboding told him that if he answered poorly, his head would be separated from his body! Kai Ni continued to stare at him, her expression showing no sign of softening.
Angellia and Charlotte stood beside her with solemn looks. It used to be Robin protecting them, but now it was their turn to shield Robin!
Robin, please watch our backs this time! To be frank, all three—Kai Ni, Angellia, and Charlotte—were deeply shocked.
In their eyes, Robin was someone fearless, someone who never flinched or feared, no matter how perilous the situation or how fearsome the monstrous beast they encountered—never once! But this time...
"Who exactly are you? This is your last chance!" Kai Ni was losing her patience.
It was then, from within her embrace, that Robin spoke in a slightly trembling voice: "He... he is my father!" The shock landed like a massive tsunami, instantly stunning the three women.
They could never have imagined that this unremarkable, whiskered little man was Robin's father. No matter how they looked at him, they couldn't see any resemblance.
Given Robin's lovely appearance, how could she possibly be this man's daughter? They were worlds apart.
Yet, the words came from Robin’s own mouth, leaving them with no choice but to believe! What in the world was going on?
The three of them were suddenly at a loss. Usually, Kai Ni could probe Robin for details about what was happening, but seeing Robin in this state now, she couldn't bear to make her say another word.
Robin had never spoken of her past, so none of them knew about her childhood. Not even Zhong Shenxiu knew, as he had never asked Robin about such things!
Meanwhile, the middle-aged man, feeling the pervasive murderous aura recede, couldn't help but exhale in relief; his heart had been lodged in his throat moments ago. "What do you want?" Kai Ni asked again after a moment of silence.
Regardless of whether this man was Robin's father or not, seeing Robin's current reaction suggested that even if this middle-aged man hadn't abused Robin, he certainly hadn't treated her well, otherwise, Robin wouldn't be like this. She had firmly decided: even if she couldn't kill this man, if he intended to take Robin away, that was absolutely out of the question!
Not only would Zhong Shenxiu refuse, but these three women wouldn't let him pass! "There's no need for you to be so tense!" The man let out an awkward laugh; in truth, he was the one who was truly nervous.
"Actually, I don't want anything. Running into Robin was just coincidence.
I never expected she would be here, much less that her transformation would be so profound!" Kai Ni stared at the man with undisguised skepticism, her expression clearly conveying: Keep bluffing, see if I’ll fall for it! "Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Deriva, a Necromancer. Don't be surprised that I'm out in the daylight.
That’s because I took a special potion from the 'Dark Guild.'" The middle-aged man quickly added, trying to ease the tension. However, the women of Kai Ni's group were in no mood to listen to his nonsense, glaring at him with sustained hostility.
Deriva deeply understood the difficulty of communicating with women, but at this moment, he had no choice but to remain patient. After a moment of silence, Deriva’s face suddenly turned serious.
Looking at Robin, who was still burying her face in Kai Ni’s arms, he said, "Robin, I know I caused you a great deal of suffering, and that I abandoned you when your 'Dark Reversal' struck. I don't expect you to forgive me for those things.
The truth is, I had no choice!" Under normal circumstances, before the advent of the 'Dark Guild's special potion,' an outbreak of 'Dark Reversal' was equivalent to an incurable disease, leading only to endless agony and a slow, inevitable death. Hearing that Deriva had once abandoned Robin, a wave of murderous intent surged through the three women again.
Deriva startled, realizing he had said something he shouldn't have, and quickly continued, "Ladies, please calm your anger for a moment, listen to me finish!" Charlotte snorted, wearing an expression that dared him to say more. Kai Ni was more composed, temporarily suppressing her killing intent!
"Robin, there is a secret I never told you. You are not actually my daughter, and I am not your father," Deriva declared, uttering something shocking.
What? The three women of Kai Ni's group were stunned once more, finding Robin's lineage utterly bewildering.
Robin had clearly stated moments ago that this man was her father, yet he now denied it. What was going on?
Was he saying that just because they looked angry? Even Robin was taken aback by this statement, though she still didn't...
Seeing that the three women seemed interested, Deriva quickly explained, "Robin, the truth is, I found you when you were a baby in 'Brilliant Country.' You were covered in blood and barely clinging to life. The situation was critical, and I was forced to use 'Dark Magic' to heal you.
As you know, using 'Dark Magic' for healing has side effects—that’s why you triggered the 'Dark Reversal' at such a young age." "You say Robin is from 'Brilliant Country'?" Charlotte stared at Deriva in shock. She knew that 'Brilliant Country' was a small nation neighboring the 'Winter Moon Empire'!
"That’s right. I found you in the thicket beneath a cliff back then.
You couldn't have been more than a newborn," Deriva recalled, his expression suggesting he wasn't lying. "Oh, yes, you had something with you then.
It’s time to return it to its rightful owner!" As he spoke, Deriva retrieved a semi-circular, dark-gray metal ornament from his magic ring. Though its material was unknown, it was clearly no ordinary object.
Kai Ni merely waved her hand, and the ornament was instantly in her grasp. This, however, caused Deriva to freeze, staring at Kai Ni with a dazed expression.
He hadn't even seen how she took the item; it was utterly bizarre! Engraved on one side of the metal were the characters "Robin," and on the other, deeply imprinted, were the characters "Tranchi." It seemed this was the origin of Robin's name!
Kai Ni examined the ornament, but besides those markings, she couldn't decipher any other information. Perhaps Zhong Shenxiu could glean something from it.
Robin, nestled in her arms, stole a glance at the ornament but remained clung to Kai Ni, as if this proximity offered her safety! After studying it for a while, Kai Ni tucked the ornament into her storage bracelet and looked back at Deriva.
"Even if Robin isn't your biological daughter, you shouldn't have abandoned her alone!" It was hard to imagine how a small, helpless girl managed to survive, especially one plagued by illness! No wonder Robin was showing such erratic behavior; Deriva's appearance had clearly dredged up memories of her past.
"In truth, I had no other recourse. After I took Robin in, I began to be hunted by mysterious figures, living a life on the run until we reached the 'Winter Moon Empire,' but those people still wouldn't let up.
I believe Robin still has some recollection of this! Those people were clearly after her.
To prevent her from falling into their hands, I took Robin to a very remote small town. To draw their attention away, I left Robin alone and traveled to major cities..." Deriva spoke with sadness; those days had left him deeply affected.
"Who were those people chasing you, and why have we never encountered them?" Kai Ni asked, maintaining her composure. "Those people disappeared long ago; I don't know why," Deriva replied.
"Do you know who Robin’s biological parents are?" Kai Ni pressed again. "I don't know for sure.
I suspect they are influential figures because quite a few of the pursuers were from the court! And their strength was considerable!" Deriva considered before answering.
There was something strange about this matter. It was evident that young Robin had been caught up in some great turmoil, only to miraculously survive!
Kai Ni fell into deep thought, mulling over the situation for a long time. "Even though I haven't seen those mysterious people recently, I still hope you all remain cautious!" Deriva advised.
Kai Ni gave no verbal response, only glancing at Deriva. She wasn't worried about such matters at all.
In fact, she secretly hoped those people would show up. Given Robin’s strength, no one in this world, save for Zhong Shenxiu, could harm her.
If those pursuers came, it would be walking straight into a trap, giving them a chance to interrogate them! "Robin, it is such a joy to see you again.
Seeing that you are doing well gives me peace of mind," Tranchi said, then looked toward Kai Ni and the others, pleading, "I hope you will treat Robin well. This child has suffered too much since she was little, and I never gave her any affection.
I hope Robin finds happiness with you all!" With that, Tranchi cast one meaningful look at Robin, then turned to the two stunned figures beside him and said, "Let's go." Kai Ni did not stop Tranchi from leaving. Only then did Robin finally lift her head, watching Tranchi’s receding back, her eyes slightly red.
However, she still said nothing. She was Robin Tranchi, and she had long decided to dedicate her life to Zhong Shenxiu.
No matter who she was or what happened, this decision would never change! She belonged to Zhong Shenxiu in life, and she would be his spirit in death!!
Though very young, this vow was already branded onto her heart... If you wish to know what happens next, please log on to [Website Name].
