The moment the words left his lips, the sound of footsteps announced the arrival of four figures emerging from beside the screen wall. All wore sapphire-blue long robes, radiating vigor and spirited confidence—they were Li Muzhan’s four senior brothers.
Leading them was Zhao Yuzhen, moving with the measured pace of a dragon, his bearing solid and composed, a gentle smile gracing his noble, jade-like face.
“Four Senior Brothers, please come in quickly. The Commander is also here,” Li Muzhan stepped forward, offering a formal salute with his left hand clasped over his right, welcoming them warmly.
The four first paid their respects to Jin Kaitai. Noticing him sprawled lazily on a couch set right in the center of the courtyard, they couldn't help but glance twice.
The impetuous Yu Chi Ming was the first to speak, laughing, “Commander, what is this posture…?”
Jin Kaitai waved a hand dismissively and said in a deep voice, “Yu Chi, why have you come?”
Yu Chi Ming chuckled wryly, “Fifth Brother is injured, how could we not come to check on him!”
“You have quite a bit of free time!” Jin Kaitai snorted, pushing himself up from the couch. “You all chat. I’ll take my leave!”
Li Muzhan smiled, “Commander, why not join the four Senior Brothers?”
“I won’t be an eyesore here,” Jin Kaitai waved his hand again.
Yu Chi Ming immediately grabbed Jin Kaitai’s sleeve, laughing slyly, “That won’t do, Commander. We still need to discuss Fifth Brother’s injuries with you!”
“Commander, come along with us,” Zhao Yuzhen said with a smile.
Jin Kaitai looked at them, grunted, and settled back down. Li Muzhan brought four chairs, and they sat before the couch, bathed in the crimson glow of the setting sun, their entire forms tinged red.
“Fifth Brother, you didn’t sleep well last night, did you?” He Nanshan observed Li Muzhan, chuckling. “We intended to come earlier, but we figured you must have been up all night, and needed to catch up on sleep during the day. That’s why we waited until now.”
“It was indeed uncomfortable,” Li Muzhan nodded and smiled.
Zhao Yuzhen said, “It will be uncomfortable again tonight; it takes three days to start improving.”
Yu Chi Ming laughed, “Eldest Senior Brother, I told you not to worry. Fifth Brother doesn't need sleep… Am I right? Look at his complexion—glowing, full of spirit! Does he look like someone who lacks sleep?”
Zhao Yuzhen smiled knowingly and nodded, “It’s true. Fifth Brother, an hour of meditation equals a full night’s sleep for you?”
Li Muzhan smiled, “Yes… I started practicing the art of entering stillness when I was very young, for over a decade now. It’s not difficult; many high monks can do it.”
“The profundity of Buddhism indeed holds unique power,” Zhao Yuzhen nodded slowly.
Jin Kaitai stared, asking, “Zhanran, you don’t need to sleep?”
Li Muzhan nodded with a smile, “Entering stillness is a deep rest, more effective than sleep. One hour of my meditation is equivalent to a full night’s slumber.”
“Good! Good!” Jin Kaitai kept nodding, sizing him up. “No wonder you harbor such immense ambition!”
Cheng Xiaofeng glanced at the scripture booklet in Li Muzhan’s left hand. “Fifth Brother, which true scripture did you choose?”
Li Muzhan smiled, “I principally cultivate the Shao Yin True Scripture, while also studying the other five concurrently.”
The four were momentarily stunned. Yu Chi Ming quickly asked, “You’ve learned all six true scriptures?”
Li Muzhan nodded.
“Are you insane?” Yu Chi Ming cried out strangely, looking at him askance before turning to Jin Kaitai. “Commander, can he be this reckless?”
Jin Kaitai’s face darkened, and he snorted irritably, “Let him try. He practices for a month first. If he can’t manage it, he’ll just focus on the Shao Yin True Scripture alone.”
Drinking surely leads to folly—that much was true. This little monk Zhanran was too cunning; one drink and he trapped himself. Since this was embarrassing, it naturally could not be mentioned.
Everyone nodded, saying no more. Since his mind was made up, persuading him was useless. Letting him try for a month wouldn't hurt anything.
Though they hadn't known him long, they understood Li Muzhan’s temperament: pleasant and quiet, but utterly firm in his decisions; once he settled on something, no one could sway him.
He Nanshan surveyed the surroundings and smiled. “Fifth Brother, though this courtyard is small, it’s quite elegant and peaceful. Sitting here is a pleasure; I feel lazy and disinclined to move!”
“Indeed, compared to Jingyuan, this has its own unique charm,” Cheng Xiaofeng agreed.
Yu Chi Ming chuckled, “Fifth Brother, you certainly earned us some satisfaction this time. Heh heh, those girls from Yaoguang Courtyard won't dare be so presumptuous now; they slunk away shamefaced!”
“Fourth Brother!” Zhao Yuzhen frowned slightly.
“Eldest Senior Brother, was I wrong?” Yu Chi Ming spoke loudly, letting out a hateful snort. “These past few years, watching those girls from Yaoguang Courtyard, each one so arrogant, always giving us dirty looks—it was infuriating!”
As he spoke, he glanced towards Jin Kaitai.
Jin Kaitai shot him a glare in return, causing Yu Chi Ming to pout and withhold the rest of his words.
Zhao Yuzhen breathed a sigh of relief, worried that the Fourth Brother would start complaining about the Commander again, which would surely earn him a severe reprimand and physical pain.
Jin Kaitai remained calm and composed, throwing a sidelong glance at Yu Chi Ming, and let out two dry chuckles. Since Li Muzhan mastered the Tian Yuan Breathing Technique, Jin Kaitai had been happy, his temper smoother, his mind broader. He could now treat the crude remarks of a fellow like Yu Chi Ming as if he hadn't heard them.
Zhao Yuzhen brought up a new topic: “Oh, Fifth Brother, we saw the Eldest Young Lady this morning. It seems she didn't make a fuss; no need to worry.”
Yu Chi Ming laughed slyly, “The boys and girls from the Six Courtyards are just gossiping. Give them courage, and they still wouldn't dare touch anyone from our Tianshu Courtyard!”
“Enough, all of you! If this escalates and truly angers the Eldest Young Lady, you will all suffer the consequences!” Jin Kaitai waved his hand and snorted sternly.
“Commander, rest assured, it won't escalate,” Zhao Yuzhen smiled.
Yu Chi Ming grinned smugly, “In this minor competition, we’re aiming to sweep the top three spots!”
Cheng Xiaofeng chuckled and shook his head.
He Nanshan laughed softly, “Fourth Brother, can you really contend with Gong Qingyun?”
“Heh heh, just let Fifth Brother deal with her—she won’t even make it onto the stage!” Yu Chi Ming rubbed his hands and grinned wickedly.
Li Muzhan shook his head with a wry smile, “Fourth Senior Brother, it would be more likely for Senior Sister Gong to defeat me.”
Zhao Yuzhen nodded, “Yes, Fifth Brother’s victory yesterday was a narrow stroke of luck. Gong Qingyun will quickly find a countermeasure; after all, she is the Eldest Young Lady’s personal disciple.”
Everyone fell silent. Mentioning the Eldest Young Lady seemed to inspire deep apprehension in them all. Li Muzhan grew even more curious, burning to meet this Eldest Young Lady.
“San’er, do you have guests?” A round, gentle voice drifted over. A flash of white, and Li Yurong suddenly appeared beside the screen wall.
Jin Kaitai started, whipping his head around. His inner force was profound; he could hear a fly land ten zhang away, yet he hadn't perceived anyone approaching. He was utterly astonished.
His gaze fell upon a figure standing gracefully opposite him—a woman of jade.
She wore a snow-white monastic robe, her long hair cascading over her shoulders. Her features were exquisitely soft, her skin crystalline like jade. Her pair of phoenix eyes were dark and bright, gleaming like gemstones, captivating the soul. She stood quietly there, illuminated by the setting sun, appearing as a statue carved from white jade, untouched by the slightest speck of dust, illuminating the entire small courtyard.
“Second Sister!” Li Muzhan waved cheerfully. “Come, come. This is Commander Jin, my Eldest Senior Brother, Second Senior Brother, Third Senior Brother, and Fourth Senior Brother.” He then smiled at the five who were frozen in awe. “These are my Second Sister, whose given name is Yurong.”
Li Yurong maintained a placid expression and calmly offered a traditional greeting to everyone with hands clasped.
They quickly rose, returning the gesture. Even the composed Zhao Yuzhen was somewhat dazed, feeling that Li Yurong was radiantly beautiful, her every movement graceful and moving.
Li Muzhan smiled, “Second Sister, why are you out so early today?”
“Mmm, Master had guests today,” Li Yurong smiled, gave a slight bow to the group, and without pausing her steps, floated gracefully into the house.
The others inwardly felt a touch of melancholy; the small courtyard seemed to dim instantly.
After a long moment, Yu Chi Ming sidled closer and whispered, “Fifth Brother, is she really your Second Sister?”
Li Muzhan smiled and nodded, “She is. Why, Fourth Senior Brother, do you know my Second Sister?”
“How could I have such fortune!” Yu Chi Ming quickly waved his hands, chuckling slyly. “I thought no woman in this world could compare to the Eldest Young Lady or Third Mistress. I was mistaken!”
Li Muzhan laughed. “Fourth Senior Brother, even you know how to praise someone indirectly. The sun must have risen in the west!”
“Nonsense!” Yu Chi Ming quickly retorted, glancing toward the house. “I just dislike speaking in riddles; it doesn't mean I don't know how! Hmph-hmph, if I started speaking indirectly, I could twist your brain into knots!”
“That’s enough, Fourth Brother!” Zhao Yuzhen gave a stern hum, then turned to Li Muzhan, speaking gently, “Your Second Sister practices martial arts too, I presume.”
All eyes turned to Li Muzhan.
Li Muzhan nodded and smiled, “Second Sister is the final disciple of Master Xueyin. As for her martial arts, I don’t know the depth, but it must be considerable… Wouldn’t you agree, Commander?”
“Profound beyond measure,” Jin Kaitai nodded slowly.
Yu Chi Ming seemed unconvinced. “No way, she’s that skilled?!”
“Hmph, even all of you combined wouldn't be her match!” Jin Kaitai glared at him.
“Is she really that powerful, Fifth Brother?” Yu Chi Ming still doubted, turning back to Li Muzhan.
Li Muzhan smiled, “I don't know how skilled Second Sister is; we’ve never sparred. However, her culinary skills are truly exceptional. You all should stay for dinner!”
“Forget it!” Jin Kaitai quickly waved his hand and snorted, “It’s getting late; we really should be going!”
He felt lingering apprehension. Although Zhanran’s wine hadn’t made him dizzy, he had gotten drunk. If these four young men got drunk again, they’d surely pass out, which would be utterly humiliating!
Zhao Yuzhen and the other three seemed reluctant to leave.
He Nanshan smiled, “No rush, no rush. Fifth Brother, you’ve mastered all six true scriptures?”
“Right, Zhanran, look at these quickly,” Jin Kaitai remembered, pulling out an oilcloth package from his robes. He opened it and handed the remaining four books to him.
Li Muzhan said nothing more, picking up the thin booklets and quickly looking them over. The others fell silent, careful not to disturb him. Li Muzhan swiftly cleared his mind, his inner lake becoming tranquil. He focused on the scriptures in his hands, flipping through them rapidly. His energy was particularly robust today, allowing him to absorb things quickly.
The four of Zhao Yuzhen looked around, taking in the small courtyard, but their eyes inevitably drifted towards the main house.
In a short while, the five scripture booklets were finished and handed back to Jin Kaitai.
“Memorized?” Jin Kaitai asked solemnly.
Li Muzhan nodded with gravity, “Memorized. Thank you, Commander!”
Jin Kaitai waved his hand, his face grim as he snorted, “Then we shall see the results in a month!”
He started to rise, then sat down again, speaking in a deep voice, “Yuzhen, have you ever heard of Master Xueyin?”
Zhao Yuzhen started, then thought for a moment, his expression suddenly changing. “Are you speaking of the Divine Nun Xueyin of Yingyue Nunnery?!”
“At least your mind isn’t completely muddled yet!” Jin Kaitai snorted.
“It’s actually the Divine Nun Xueyin of Yingyue Nunnery!” Zhao Yuzhen looked toward the main house in surprise, then at Li Muzhan, losing his usual composure.
Li Muzhan smiled, “My Second Sister is indeed at Yingyue Nunnery.”
Zhao Yuzhen brought a hand to his forehead, shaking his head with a wry smile. “Truly, I judged a person by their appearance. It turns out your sister is a high disciple of the Divine Nun Xueyin!”
“Eldest Senior Brother, Divine Nun Xueyin, who is that?” Yu Chi Ming blinked his large eyes.
“You’ve been confined within the mansion all this time, so you don’t recognize the great heroes of the world… Divine Nun Xueyin’s Buddhist wisdom is exquisite; she is a highly respected and virtuous master revered across the land,” Zhao Yuzhen stated solemnly.
“Oh…” Yu Chi Ming nodded, his demeanor instantly respectful. Because of Master Fa Xing, he held deep reverence for all Buddhist monastics.
Seeing He Nanshan and Cheng Xiaofeng appear somewhat unconvinced, Zhao Yuzhen snorted, “Divine Nun Xueyin is not only profound in her Dharma but also exceptionally skilled in martial arts—she is one of the absolute top masters in the world!”
Cheng Xiaofeng smiled, “How does she compare to the Commander?”
“I’m not even worthy to carry her shoes!” Jin Kaitai snorted.
As they were speaking, Li Yurong floated out, carrying a faint, delicate fragrance, and approached Li Muzhan, softly asking, “San’er, where are Father and Mother?”
Her demeanor was serene, gentle as water, yet she only looked at Li Muzhan, completely ignoring Jin Kaitai and the four others, as if he were the only person in her sight.
Li Muzhan smiled, “They went to Li Jian’s place. They’ve been staying there these past few days.”
“Them…” Li Yurong gently shook her delicate head, smiling sweetly, then suddenly frowned. “What happened to your arm?”
“It’s nothing, just a small injury,” Li Muzhan said with a smile.
“Let me see.” Li Yurong frowned. In a flash before the others’ eyes, she had moved to Li Muzhan’s other side, carefully lifting his right arm and resting three slender fingers upon his wrist.
Everyone’s gaze was instantly drawn to her hand. Illuminated by the last rays of the sunset, these three fingers were perfectly rounded and slender, like freshly peeled bamboo shoots, emitting a soft, warm luster—stunningly beautiful.
A chill ran down their spines, as if these three fingers were resting on their own wrists. A cool moisture spread through them, and every pore seemed to open.
A moment later, she nodded slightly. “Mmm, the meridians are injured.”
Li Muzhan smiled, “It’s fine; it will heal after resting a while.”
“It’s not a severe injury, but it's troublesome,” Li Yurong noted. “Let me treat it for you.”
“Sister can heal it?” Li Muzhan asked with a smile.
Li Yurong chuckled, “My skill is ordinary; I don’t even bother paying attention to such minor injuries!”
“That’s great, let’s give it a try then,” Li Muzhan said happily.
Li Yurong said no more, gently lowering his arm. She closed her bright eyes and clasped her hands together, instantly achieving a look of solemn majesty.
A moment later, the skin of her face began to change, light flowing across it, becoming increasingly crystalline, as if she were genuinely turning into white jade—translucent and warm, watching her felt like witnessing the descent of a Guanyin Bodhisattva.
Her white monastic robe slowly lifted, gradually billowing out, fluttering wildly as if she stood atop a mountain peak facing a fierce gale, her long hair waving like flowing black satin.
Zhao Yuzhen and the others watched her intently, their eyes filled with adoration. At this moment, Li Yurong truly resembled an immortal maiden descended to the mortal world, ready to ride the wind away. In that instant, they felt an urge to prostrate themselves in worship.
Her eyes snapped open, glowing with inner light. She extended her left hand in a gentle beckon, and Li Muzhan’s right arm suddenly lifted, leveling out, as if held up by an invisible hand. Her crystalline right palm curved into the shape of a crane's beak and lightly tapped Li Muzhan’s right arm several times, quick and agile, possessing an air of effortless tranquility.
She drew her palms back, clasped them together again, and closed her radiant, glittering eyes, letting out a long breath. The white robe slowly settled back against her body, and her hair fell down to her shoulders. Her skin returned to its former delicate fairness, less crystalline but more vividly alive and fragrant; her slightly disheveled hair made her seem suddenly charming and enchanting, completely transformed from the image just moments before.
“…Kong He Tian You Shu (Controlling the Crane to Add Oil Technique)!” Jin Kaitai asked, his voice hesitant, testing the name.
Li Yurong opened her bright eyes and looked at Jin Kaitai in surprise. “You actually know this technique?”
Jin Kaitai quickly replied, “The Kong He Tian You Shu is a miraculous art of this age, renowned as the foremost method for prolonging life. I have vaguely heard of it, and I am fortunate enough to witness it today!”
Li Yurong smiled faintly, “My cultivation is insufficient; I was merely using a butcher’s knife to kill a chicken.”
“Second Sister—” Li Muzhan gave a wry smile.
Li Yurong chuckled, “Alright, I misspoke. How does it feel now?”
Li Muzhan replied, “It feels like I’m being roasted over a fire—truly becoming a barbecued chicken!”
“It will take about an hour to roast,” Li Yurong smiled, probing his right wrist with a slender finger. She nodded, “It should be fine by tomorrow.”
“Zhanran, you truly have great fortune!” Jin Kaitai’s expression was full of envy.
Li Muzhan laughed heartily, “I didn’t know Second Sister possessed such ability!”
Li Yurong smiled faintly, “San’er, you all sit and talk. I’m going to check on Li Jian’s place.”
Li Muzhan said, “Ask Sister-in-law to come back and start cooking soon.”
“Okay,” Li Yurong nodded and smiled, “What do you want for dinner tonight?”
“Just prepare a few simple dishes,” Li Muzhan replied.
Jin Kaitai hurriedly stood up, waving his hands frantically. “No, no... Zhanran, we really must be going now!”
“Commander, please stay for dinner here!” Li Muzhan insisted.
“That won’t do,” Jin Kaitai shook his head, speaking firmly. “Another day, perhaps. I need to secure the scriptures in the vault early today!”
Li Muzhan looked at the four senior brothers. “Then Eldest Senior Brother, you all stay.”
Zhao Yuzhen hesitated for a moment, but finally shook his head. Seeing this, Li Muzhan did not press them and agreed, seeing them off.
Jin Kaitai and his party soon left Li Family Village, moving swiftly along the mountain path. The sun had set, the dusk was gathering, and the distant landscape was growing indistinct. The crowing of roosters, the barking of dogs, and the cries of children gradually faded behind them.
They traveled in silence, seeming to have no interest in conversation, immersed in a strange quietude, the only sound the whoosh of the wind.
After a long stretch, they reached the mountaintop. As they began the descent, Yu Chi Ming couldn't hold back. He turned to Jin Kaitai and asked, “Commander, is that Divine Nun Xueyin really that formidable?”
“Yes,” Jin Kaitai nodded thoughtfully.
“How formidable?” Yu Chi Ming inquired.
Jin Kaitai kept walking, paused to consider, and then said, “…Even if all the people from our Mei Residence combined, we couldn’t hold her off.”
Yu Chi Ming paused his steps, then quickly caught up, scratching his head with a wry smile. “That Fifth Brother, he really makes people jealous—such good luck!”
He Nanshan asked, “Commander, will Fifth Brother’s injury truly heal in two days?”
Jin Kaitai shook his head and sighed, “The Kong He Tian You Shu is a miraculous technique for extending life. No matter how severe the injury, as long as there’s still a breath left, it can prolong life by ten days... Using such a technique for this is truly overkill!”
He recalled the healing methods he had taught Zhanran. Although exquisite, they were worlds apart from the Kong He Tian You Shu. However, even if it were better, Miss Li couldn't teach it to Zhanran. Thinking of this, he let out a breath, feeling a sense of release. Ever since meeting Li Yurong, he had felt tense, as if facing a fierce tiger, unconsciously stressed.
He Nanshan sighed bitterly, “Fourth Brother spoke nonsense earlier, but he spoke the truth this time—Fifth Brother is truly blessed with good fortune!”
Normally, Yu Chi Ming would have argued back immediately, shouting in protest, but now he merely shook his head and smiled, sighing repeatedly.
Zhao Yuzhen coughed once and said sternly, “Alright. Fifth Brother has a good sister and a good brother; we can’t be envious. We must rely on ourselves the most... Let’s work hard in our training and strive to catch up to Fifth Brother!”
Everyone’s spirits lifted. Yu Chi Ming shouted, “Right! We can’t let this brat get too smug!”
Li Muzhan’s small courtyard was shrouded in twilight, appearing somewhat indistinct. He lit the lanterns, and the yard brightened. The couch remained set in the center of the courtyard.
Li Yurong went into the kitchen to prepare food, her soft, beautiful voice clearly carrying over. “San’er, Master asked if you know: ‘In the Saha world, what exists outside the mind?’”
Li Muzhan sat on the couch, holding a scroll in his left hand, and casually replied with a simple, “Mmm.”
“Oh, and Master also said to invite you to participate in the Yingyue Dharma Assembly next month,” Li Yurong’s voice was right beside his ear, clear and melodious, reaching him distinctly.
Li Muzhan set down the scroll, pondered for a moment, and shook his head, “Please thank the Abbess for me; I will not go.”
“Why not go?” Li Yurong’s gentle voice sounded again.
Li Muzhan replied, “I have now entered Mei Residence and am a disciple of Tianshu Courtyard. It is improper for me to attend the Dharma Assembly.”
Li Yurong gave a soft snort. “San’er!... Master also wanted you to represent Yingyue Nunnery in the debates!”
“Thank the Abbess for her consideration, but I cannot,” Li Muzhan shook his head.
Li Yurong urged him, “San’er, think about it again. Don’t be so quick to refuse!”
The two were separated by the kitchen and the courtyard center, yet the distance did not impede their conversation. Li Muzhan simply shook his head, picked up his book again, and said with a smile, “I taught Sister-in-law the breathing technique.”
“Oh, you have great audacity!” A flash of white, a sudden breeze, and Li Yurong abruptly appeared before the couch, wearing an apron, her jade hands dusted with white flour. Her delicate brows furrowed. “Passingly teaching martial arts is a huge transgression!”
“It’s not a Mei Residence martial art; it’s something I comprehended. It’s fine,” Li Muzhan smiled.
“Third Brother, you may be clever, but martial arts are not like other things—they are complex and rigorous. Every single cultivation method has been refined through countless trials; even a slight alteration can cause disastrous complications!… A flawed technique brings endless harm!”
Li Muzhan smiled and waved his hand dismissively, “Rest assured, Sister-in-law. Would I ever wish ill upon you?”
“Oh, you and your confidence! Be careful!” Li Yurong shook her head with a sigh, filled with resignation, knowing she could not persuade him.
She then asked, “Are those two still not getting along?”
Li Muzhan put down his book again and sighed wearily, “They’re still locked in a stalemate.”
“This simply cannot go on!” Li Yurong’s delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly.
Li Muzhan remarked, “Their personalities truly clash; it’s a real nuisance!”
Li Yurong snorted, “Your elder brother is truly something. A grown man, can’t he just yield a little to his wife?”
Li Muzhan replied, “Alas… If it were a different woman, Elder Brother wouldn’t be so petty.”
“Why is that?” Li Yurong asked quickly.
Li Muzhan explained, “Sister-in-law comes from distinguished lineage, and Elder Brother has an old wound in his heart… Until that inner demon is removed, it will be hard for them to ever find peace and true harmony.”
“Third Brother, you are resourceful; think of a way!” Li Yurong pleaded.
Li Muzhan shook his head. “I can brainstorm solutions for other matters, but the affairs between a couple—outsiders can never truly grasp them. What idea could I possibly have?”
In his past life, his own marriage had been unhappy, ending in divorce; he was profoundly unsuited to dealing with women.
Li Yurong frowned, gently sweeping stray strands of fine hair from her temples, and sighed, “If this continues, they might actually separate!”
Li Muzhan laughed lightly. “Everyone has their own destiny to follow. Second Sister, you really shouldn’t worry yourself sick over it.”
Though he spoke so casually, his mind was already churning, beginning to formulate a plan.
As they were talking, hurried, messy footsteps sounded—Li Zhuzi, Qin Shi, and Zhao Yiyi had returned.
Seeing Li Yurong, Li Zhuzi grunted, shooting her a sharp look: “So, you finally decided to grace us with your presence!”
“That old man never has a kind word for anyone!” Qin Shi shot him a sideways glance before turning, her face softening into a smile, “Yurong, did you get a chance to meet that big brute?”
Li Yurong smiled and asked, “Big brute? You mean Commander Jin?”
“Yes, yes! That commander of yours, Third Son’s… Is he very fierce?” Qin Shi pressed eagerly.
Li Yurong smiled gently. “I found him quite alright, actually. He seems very good to Third Son.”
Zhao Yiyi pursed her lips and chuckled, “Exactly! Mother, you never believe what I say!”
Qin Shi laughed back, “Yiyi said that when the two of them are together, Third Son acts more like the commander! I just don’t believe it!”
The family was gathered, chatting happily, when suddenly a sharp, distinct clack-clack sounded at the door.
Zhao Yiyi quickly turned to open it. Since it was dark, they had bolted the courtyard gate shut upon their arrival.
Zhao Yiyi soon returned, ushering in a figure, and said cheerfully, “Someone is looking for our Young Uncle!”
Li Muzhan paused, then burst out laughing. “Senior Sister Gong?”
